but it is members only.
can anyone help?
connexion2005 is a member on here the does a lot of work on different phones. His website is mobiletechvideos.com. not sure if he has a power button but he may know where to look to get one.
Ill try him thanks for the idea!
I just remapped mine to the down volume button and it was free to do..
Yeah mobiletechivdeos really helped me out when mine broke, I jigged and sent it to AT&T, but I recall him saying he had power buttons lying around. Don't quote me on that though.
I have power buttons and I install them...
Hey guys, I have a major issue with my power button. I have to nearly break my fingers off trying to get it to come on via the power button so I'm mostly left to plug in the charger to turn it on.
I live way in the Cayman Islands and it was bought used off of ebay.
Is there any way that it can be opened up and fixed? Is it something that can be done yourself or by someone who specializes in fixing electronics?
Has anyone here tried it themselves?
Don't suggest sending it to ASUS as I have no warranty on it. It was a display unit at a Best Buy store.
Any help would be welcome.

sorry man looks like you got a defective power button unit. If you buy a transformer used, thats the first thing you have to look at. Thats why you shoud always buy local to check out the power button.
My power button is sticking or broken. When ever I use it to close the screen It stays stuck and asks me to reboot or just flashed. Is there any way to fix this? Can I order an new button and put it in?
Thanks for any help!

Yes a permanent fix would be buying a button from Ebay for a few bucks and replace it.

I got the new button in and put it in and nothing changes. I took the button out completely and it disengaged the power button completely. So it must be the internal mechanism. Any advice on how I can fix that?
Thanks

Did you check the continuity with the new button? You bought the button that required to solder to the main board right? not just the power button cover!
Here is link to check continuity and replacing the power button: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWbahqYdtaI
Here is link for the power button http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Power-Vol...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item1c3791297d

I could do that also. I have to wait for the summer my two year agreement and hopefully the gs5. Is it worth waiting?

So i pulled the old button off and soldered the new one on and now it doesnt work at all.
Any other suggestions? I tried to put the little pins in the motherboard. I held it there and soldered it on.
Thanks

I assumed that you soldered the button correctly, I would use an ohm meter to test the continuity when the button is pressed and released, just to verify that the button is good and make sure all solder joints are good. If all the above checked out, then the last thing is replace the main board, shop on Ebay for a clean ESN board (price range from 80-90$. I don't know if you want to go all the way or just use xposed app to by pass the button and wait to buy a new one?

Could you explain to me what soldering it correctly means? held it to the motherboard with a clip so that the prongs were close to or in the holes and i soldered the back side.
Thanks

Usually, after soldering, you need to verify continuity, sometime you may experiencing cold solder joints, where the lead is there but no contact. The board is coated, so you need to sand down the contact so that when you applied the lead, it will make contact.

I'm going to try again tomorrow. I just don't know how I can get the two little prongs under that button soldered into the little holes on the motherboard. Any suggestions? Would liquid solder work?

So I think i messed something up resoldering it. Now it wont turn on at all. I talked to verizon and they are sending me a new one (for free). What is the best way for me to reformat my phone if it wont turn on.
And
Should i leave the button unsoldered inside the phone. or attempt to resolder it back on so its just there?
I dont want to be charged for tampering with the inside of the phone.
Thanks
Resolder the button back on and send back the dead phone. I'm not worry about the software but messing around with hardware is more concerns.

Hey!
Got a big problem. I was taking apart my OPO(had to change the display) and accidentally tore off the power and volume keys from the motherboard. They were connected with really thin wires directly to the MB. I can't solder them back because the wires are TINY to say the least.
Does anyone know if those buttons are sold anywere or is there anything I could do? I don't think you'd be able to use a Android without at least the power button
Thanks.
I'm in the same situation as u, bud.. it sucks..
I don't know if this helps, but i just found some online rn from this website called Parts4repair (sry i can't link. i have that <10 post restriction), don't know if they're reputable, but I just bought one.
I'll let u know if they work
But if you already fixed it, can u explain how you did it? I don't know how to solder or weld or whatever
Thx
:crying: so during my daily life the volume button fell off and I can't find it so I have to use toothpicks to control volume without using a widget or going into the settings. I sadly tried Google support for help, and since I am residing in Saudi Arabia they can't help me. not even finding a way for me to find buy, get, receive a button to use on pixel 2. so I hoped someone in the community here might know where I can find a replacement. SO HELP ME :crying::crying::crying:
Contact Google. They should be able to just RMA it and all you'll have to do is go without a phone for a week or so.
Nope

they refused to RMA because I am not in states.
Hmm that's weird as to why it's not getting covered a RMA. Maybe you need to go directly to Htc

Having removed a toast skin from my pixel 2, yes... Two small clips is all that holds either button in. The power button only clips in one way to work. Was a pain to pop back out and flip around. Paid more attention with the volume button afterwards.
