Hey!
Got a big problem. I was taking apart my OPO(had to change the display) and accidentally tore off the power and volume keys from the motherboard. They were connected with really thin wires directly to the MB. I can't solder them back because the wires are TINY to say the least.
Does anyone know if those buttons are sold anywere or is there anything I could do? I don't think you'd be able to use a Android without at least the power button
Thanks.
I'm in the same situation as u, bud.. it sucks..
I don't know if this helps, but i just found some online rn from this website called Parts4repair (sry i can't link. i have that <10 post restriction), don't know if they're reputable, but I just bought one.
I'll let u know if they work
But if you already fixed it, can u explain how you did it? I don't know how to solder or weld or whatever
Thx

Hi guys,
I have TF and the power button got broken when I noticed that the bezel was slightly displaced. I just pressed on the edges and everything got fixed. However, the power button was pushed in and I didn't know the reason. I couldn't send my TF back to the company cuz I opened it to check the problem (silly me). I tried to fix it but apparently the button was actually broken. I thought of getting needed parts to fix the power button myself but I don't know where I can get them.
Any idea how can I fix the power button?
Thanks in advance
Doesn't matter if you took it apart, they will still repair it for a price - you wouldn't get a free repair anyway even if you didn't open it as it was physically damaged, rather than a fault of the device.
You can still power it on by plugging it into a power source
Agree. I also am sure they'll fix it for a price. I believe they would call it CID. Customer Induced Damage. Even if you got it that way, there's really no way to prove otherwise. Which is why whenever I ship an RMA I take a bunch of pictures and a statement I did so with the RMA paperwork. So far it's worked well.
Hey you all! The last couple weeks i had an issue with a couple Infuse mobos i have in here. Did everything i can on hand to try to repair the infamous reboot loop on my Infuse but had no success. The thing is that i even applied UnbrickableMod to one of them thinking that may solve it and had no luck. If you try the JIG it will get into download mode but it will reboot again.
Guess what???? I found the trick, the issue is something very common on the Samsung Galaxy Captivate, the Power Button! Yeah! Just like that, what i did was that i took one of the 2 motherboards i had with that same issue and removed one of the volume buttons in it, and replaced the Power Button on the other non working motherboard, It was my only hope. And it worked!!!!!!!!!! . So i think i will help a bunch of people in here because ive read many people trying to solve this exact same issue.
So if someone knows where they sell those power buttons i will be very happy because so far i had no luck on Ebay or any other place where they sell those buttons. There you have the solution for your problem, if you can find a place to send it to be replaced do so. I have the tools and the skill set to do it on mines so i just need somewhere to buy the Button. If someone knows please post it in here so i can order it........

Is it just that the button is stuck down? If that's the case then you could probably take the phone apart and just clean that button (space around it) so that it no longer gets stuck...never taken an infuse apart so I have no idea if that would work...but I did take my vivid apart today and changed the color of the capacitive buttons cause there was nothing for me to flash and I was going through withdrawals lol
I'll keep a look out for those kind of spare parts tho and ill let you know if I find any

Well M8, that could be a good idea. The problem is that at least on my phone the button felt just fine. Like i said, i did that as the very last option, but it worked. So it means that the power button someway, somehow is givin up. Maybe its a good idea to clean it. But for the moment im looking for those power buttons so i can replace the ones on the mobo i took the one i used. And now i need 2 of them at least(the volume button and the power button).
Just a thought, if you guys have a JIG, an easier solution can be applied, you can just desolder the power button out. And from there on, anytime you need to power on the phone you just have to insert the jig for a second and the phone will power on like that. Thats of course way better than having the phone acting like its bricked.... Just be careful when desoldering that you dont mess with the soldering points in case you find a button to replace it.
EDIT: The battery should be inside the phone when doing so, its not like when youre trying to get the phone on download mode!
Here ya go...

Hey man- Just wanted to give you this link on a place I found to buy the buttons- kinda at a steep price but hey. I have a question though. soon as I disconnected the power button on mine it stopped the loop and started acting normal (as normal as it can with no power button). So I made an attempt to solder on the new one. Guess what- I think i did something wrong or am a beginner at soldering because I still cant get it to turn on. Can you give me a quick go around on soldering one of these power buttons or is you maybe have a youtube tutorial?
Thank you!

hey guys
i just take the power button off but still I'm in boot loop i can't stay in download mode even when using usb jig, after seconds it restarted again, when i pull battery in its turn on bye it self, i can't go in recovery mode at all,but with combination key can go in download mode but up volume key won't work to continue to download mode and restart again, i checked the volume keys they work. every thing just end with restart. as i told u i take off power button key but still restarting.
can u pls help me
i don't know what is the problem, is it hardware or software problem?!
So here is a tricky situation. My infuse was stuck on a bootloop i used a jig and the it continued to reboot. I read somewhere that it is possible that i have a bad power button. I took it apart and un soldered the power button and used the jig to turn it on, went straight into download mode and didnt re boot. I thought my nightmare was over, as I went to solder back on the power button the leads coming off the board broke, not the leads on the power button itself but the actually physical point of contact on the board. I tryed using some flux and cleaning it really well to see if i could get some solder to stick but nothing would work. I talked to one of the engineers here at work he said Im pretty much out of luck, because the leads to that run inside the board between the layers and if it breaks off there is no way to re attach it. I just want it to work even if i have to run 2 tiny wires to some other point on the board and use a tiny tact switch im creative i could get it to work if i had somewhere to solder the button leads to. I understand there might not be anything i can do but does anyone have any ideas?
If you guys need a picture i can provide one, any help is greatly appreciated.
same problem
well my friend i hace the same problem, and i find one point to reconect one terminal o the switch, but still missing one
there is
one point, one left

Yes a permanent fix would be buying a button from Ebay for a few bucks and replace it.

I got the new button in and put it in and nothing changes. I took the button out completely and it disengaged the power button completely. So it must be the internal mechanism. Any advice on how I can fix that?
Thanks

Did you check the continuity with the new button? You bought the button that required to solder to the main board right? not just the power button cover!
Here is link to check continuity and replacing the power button: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWbahqYdtaI
Here is link for the power button http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-Power-Vol...e_Replacement_Parts_Tools&hash=item1c3791297d

I could do that also. I have to wait for the summer my two year agreement and hopefully the gs5. Is it worth waiting?

Any other suggestions? I tried to put the little pins in the motherboard. I held it there and soldered it on.
Thanks

I assumed that you soldered the button correctly, I would use an ohm meter to test the continuity when the button is pressed and released, just to verify that the button is good and make sure all solder joints are good. If all the above checked out, then the last thing is replace the main board, shop on Ebay for a clean ESN board (price range from 80-90$. I don't know if you want to go all the way or just use xposed app to by pass the button and wait to buy a new one?

Could you explain to me what soldering it correctly means? held it to the motherboard with a clip so that the prongs were close to or in the holes and i soldered the back side.
Thanks

Usually, after soldering, you need to verify continuity, sometime you may experiencing cold solder joints, where the lead is there but no contact. The board is coated, so you need to sand down the contact so that when you applied the lead, it will make contact.

I'm going to try again tomorrow. I just don't know how I can get the two little prongs under that button soldered into the little holes on the motherboard. Any suggestions? Would liquid solder work?

So I think i messed something up resoldering it. Now it wont turn on at all. I talked to verizon and they are sending me a new one (for free). What is the best way for me to reformat my phone if it wont turn on.
And
Should i leave the button unsoldered inside the phone. or attempt to resolder it back on so its just there?
I dont want to be charged for tampering with the inside of the phone.
Thanks
Resolder the button back on and send back the dead phone. I'm not worry about the software but messing around with hardware is more concerns.

Okay... I replaced a broken digitizer on a tf300t i had sittin round. Worked fine after reassembly, until i noticed i got an eyelash inbetween the digitizer and lcd. I finally had time to disassemble the gd thing today... Took forever! So now that i've reassembled it, it won't turn on. So... Opened it back up, and realized i've lost the little silver doohickey that sits on top of the sensor on the ribbon cable...
Found a replacement ribbon cable thingy for $12, but all i need is the little silver bit that lays on top. Is there ANYTHING I can do to keep from forking out $12 for some little bit of metal on a plastic tab?? I'm considering taking the one off the volume down button as a stopgap, but the volume button really should work properly, especially since i've got a brand spankin' new digitizer.
Edit: just remembered i can get it turned on by plugging in the charger, so... Is there any kind of app i can install that'll give me software access to the power menu? If I can just find a way to turn it off (other than waiting for the battery to go flat), i'll accept that.
Found one. If anyone else needs one, search 'allenfang' on google play.
