My Power switch went out on My captivate. I pulled it apart ohmed the switch reads 5 ohms not pressed 1 ohm pressed. I desoldered it from the board but I have looked everywhere for a replacement but can't find one.
I fond one here

but it is members only.
can anyone help?
connexion2005 is a member on here the does a lot of work on different phones. His website is mobiletechvideos.com. not sure if he has a power button but he may know where to look to get one.
Ill try him thanks for the idea!
I just remapped mine to the down volume button and it was free to do..
Yeah mobiletechivdeos really helped me out when mine broke, I jigged and sent it to AT&T, but I recall him saying he had power buttons lying around. Don't quote me on that though.
I have power buttons and I install them...

Hi all. This is not exactly an accessory, I apologize. I need a power button plastic cap for the G2. If anybody has a battered housing that they may have replaced or help me in any way I would really appreciate.
I bought this phone on ebay w/o the power button cap and I never checked to see that they are really so hard to find, other than buying a whole new housing for as much as I paid for the phone....
I used the guides here and I rooted/s-off it. I tried CM7, I liked it but the WiFi was low. I changed to sense. Much better for wifi, thank you for letting me have it but I would really like to turn it off once in a while.
Thank you
I recommend using a button remapper to remap the focus on the camera button to power. Assuming you dont need the camera button of course.
Thanks. Thought of it, I will probably do that as I do not have any luck with that button.
My Transformer power button feels a little lose compared to the volume button... is the power button like this on all Eepads or should I exchange mine? works fine but it feel weird...
TIA!
I have two, and both of them have power buttons that are solid, as are the volume buttons. If exchanging it is an option, I think that's a good idea. I don't think you'd want to find one day that you are unable to turn the thing on because the power button's come completely loose or something.
My power button is slightly loose as well. I work at Best Buy, and our demo model is slightly loose too. I think it's just luck of the draw. I doubt it will ever pop off or anything, but it's definitely not as tight as the volume knockers on some models.
Same here, my power button is slightly loose too. Bought it a couple weeks ago, B70 SBK2.
Although I'm not afraid of the button malfunctioning, y try to use it as little as possible, just like in all of my gadgets.
Its probably the weakest point on all of them, along with batteries. (Imo)

Hey you all! The last couple weeks i had an issue with a couple Infuse mobos i have in here. Did everything i can on hand to try to repair the infamous reboot loop on my Infuse but had no success. The thing is that i even applied UnbrickableMod to one of them thinking that may solve it and had no luck. If you try the JIG it will get into download mode but it will reboot again.
Guess what???? I found the trick, the issue is something very common on the Samsung Galaxy Captivate, the Power Button! Yeah! Just like that, what i did was that i took one of the 2 motherboards i had with that same issue and removed one of the volume buttons in it, and replaced the Power Button on the other non working motherboard, It was my only hope. And it worked!!!!!!!!!! . So i think i will help a bunch of people in here because ive read many people trying to solve this exact same issue.
So if someone knows where they sell those power buttons i will be very happy because so far i had no luck on Ebay or any other place where they sell those buttons. There you have the solution for your problem, if you can find a place to send it to be replaced do so. I have the tools and the skill set to do it on mines so i just need somewhere to buy the Button. If someone knows please post it in here so i can order it........

Is it just that the button is stuck down? If that's the case then you could probably take the phone apart and just clean that button (space around it) so that it no longer gets stuck...never taken an infuse apart so I have no idea if that would work...but I did take my vivid apart today and changed the color of the capacitive buttons cause there was nothing for me to flash and I was going through withdrawals lol
I'll keep a look out for those kind of spare parts tho and ill let you know if I find any

Well M8, that could be a good idea. The problem is that at least on my phone the button felt just fine. Like i said, i did that as the very last option, but it worked. So it means that the power button someway, somehow is givin up. Maybe its a good idea to clean it. But for the moment im looking for those power buttons so i can replace the ones on the mobo i took the one i used. And now i need 2 of them at least(the volume button and the power button).
Just a thought, if you guys have a JIG, an easier solution can be applied, you can just desolder the power button out. And from there on, anytime you need to power on the phone you just have to insert the jig for a second and the phone will power on like that. Thats of course way better than having the phone acting like its bricked.... Just be careful when desoldering that you dont mess with the soldering points in case you find a button to replace it.
EDIT: The battery should be inside the phone when doing so, its not like when youre trying to get the phone on download mode!
Here ya go...

Hey man- Just wanted to give you this link on a place I found to buy the buttons- kinda at a steep price but hey. I have a question though. soon as I disconnected the power button on mine it stopped the loop and started acting normal (as normal as it can with no power button). So I made an attempt to solder on the new one. Guess what- I think i did something wrong or am a beginner at soldering because I still cant get it to turn on. Can you give me a quick go around on soldering one of these power buttons or is you maybe have a youtube tutorial?
Thank you!

can u pls help me
i don't know what is the problem, is it hardware or software problem?!
My powerbutton is wonky, en causes random reboots / power downs.
New button is comming, but take 3 weeks from the usa and a .
Is there a way to switch the function of the power-button to volume up or down, and vice-versa?
All the apps from the playstore are just apps that drain battery.
I have root, so messing with system files is no problem.
There is no way to change the buttons assignment, as this is a hardware problem. Best solution is to bring it to a lab. The button is soldiered on to the board so it's hard to DIY. Usually costs about 50$ to replace.
I think there is a system string of code located somewhere for describing which button does what, I'll try to look it up and report back to you
EDIT: I found an app that changes the string, but it didn't work sadly. I think you're out of luck. Sorry man

The power switch physically turns the power on and off. This cannot be assigned to another button. Only software related assignments can be swapped.
If people on xda says it cannot be remapped.. Then it's not possible.
My thought : switch the function software based. But that's a no go then.
I already bought a new power button. Wil solder it asap. It drives me madddddd.
I like how everyone's power button is starting to fail around the same time.
Typical LG quality, Shows even with their 1 Year warranty compare to Samsung's 2 Year warranty

This was supposed to be a video showing how to replace the power button. I used Youtube share to get the link. That's what I got. I'll fix it,
Thanks - no offence intended. I was surprised to see that someone with so many posts was posting spam - usually their numbers are very low (I used to be a mod on Aximusers).
Thanks for clarifying that it was a mistake... I really must learn to cut people more slack before pulling the trigger...
I'm wondering if some kind person can give me the correct advice please. I thought, I'll turn to the clever guys at XDA to see if they can help?
My girlfriend dropped her S6+ tonight I know! lol......anyway
It was fortunate as to not fall on screen or anything else, but unfortunate to fall directly on the side power on/off button, so I guess it may as well have? The button has been crushed into the unit and no longer functions, although phone is working perfectly regardless. The mashed button does nothing.
What are my options?
It is on contract and we do have insurance, but if there is an easier method (like replacing said button) then I would be willing to undertake the task.
Much appreciated guys.
Youtube has several DIY videos for replacing the power button. Just search "Galaxy S6 power button"
