[Q] Stock HTC Sensation Telstra RUU

So recently my phone started having issues with the wireless and bluetooth, I've asked a few times on XDA-Developers on what might be causing this problem, but no one seems to know.
I've finally decided to do a warranty job on it, as no amount of ROM, radio, or kernal flashing is fixing it.
I'm up to rebranding my phone, and I was wondering if anyone had a copy of the stock HTC Sensation Telstra ROM, and anything else I may need apart from that when doing a warranty job?

That Telstra RUU installs with the greatest of ease
You will also need to S-ON your phone. Find the guide in the stickies at the top of the dev forum and read, read, read before you start. Those that don't read the instructions end up with an expensive paperweight

Greatly sorry about the fuss, it just required me to try it over and over again about 20 odd times before it finally worked. It also requires you to take yourself to the Bootloader via ADB.

Phone shows unlocked but s=off

I had ended up using the all in one HTC One S root utility that was linked in the fourms. After following all the steps that where listed (While following the youtube guide) My phone when on bootloader will show ****Unlocked**** across the top but s=off any ideas on why that is? I havent quite been able to figure it out im just looking for more information so when I get home I can have at it again :/ just find it odd that given the steps and the fact I had done them all to the T im still having this issue. Any help would be great thanks for taking the time.
I assume this might be better fit for Q&A if your a mod i apologize if you could move it that would be great couldnt figure out how to delete the poist :/ "edit/delete" wont remove the post :/ sorry again

Well if you can post a photo of the boot loader screen that would help me in sorting out your issue.

Don't know what you are disappointed about. S-OFF stands for security being off. This may sound bad, but from a developer perspective, it's pretty good. If you have true S-OFF like you claim you do, you can flash ROMs, kernels, radios, etc... in a recovery with no issues at all; regardless of what hboot or custom recovery you have. Unlocked means that you can flash custom recoveries and such using fastboot, which is what you want. To sum it up, S-OFF is good; many devs are trying to get S-OFF, but NONE can figure it out. Just be happy about it.
Having this 'Unlocked' text is what you're going to get if you root/unlock the phone. No way to get around it. If you want to return to complete stock settings and re-lock, your best bet is to be on stock recovery and flash an RUU that corresponds to your network. You may also want to try 'fastboot oem lock'.

So I can recall when I had the mytouch 4g the screen posted was exactly where you would go to flash the zip have they changed it since then? because I cant find the option to load a .zip rom file from :/

Where's the S-OFF lol? And yes I think you can do that. It's PD some numbers IMG.zip..

Facepalm. You do NOT have S-OFF, What the hell made you think you did. This is normal... Wow. You need to install a custom recovery to flash zips, by the way.

Oh sweet jesus you're lucky as hell.
Never ever ever sell your phone, because you got your hands on a developer one or just a phone that slipped through the cracks, because you have full S-OFF.
You should be able to flash ROMs in recovery without going to fastboot to ever flash a kernel, if the ROM is set up for it.

You would do better to change thread title...

Phone won't boot after rom flash?

I got my one x last week and rooted it a few days ago via the all in one method found here ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1952426 ) and everything worked including superuser. After a few days of use I decided to try the icecoldjelly aokp rom found here ( http://onexroot.com/one-x-roms/icecoldjelly-aokp-rom-for-rooted-one-x-android-4-1-2/ ). The rom flash said successfull and so did the gaps zip. Then when I pressed reboot the phone never cam back on. I tired living it charging overnight in case it lost charge (even though it showed almost full before I flashed). I'm not sure but I think I may be out luck?
Is there anything I can try to get this thing to boot up?

You flashed an international ROM, you now probably have an expensive paperweight. Sorry, please read the stickies next time
You may be able to dd a partition 4 to your phone if someone dumps one for you, and if you know how/someone is willing to help.

I figured as much. For some reason I mistook the international rom for the att one
If I tried to exchange it, would att be able to notice this?

Umm, yes they will notice it. Just don't run over it with your car and make an insurance claim :\

If I can fix this guy's phone, then i'll consider starting a tutorial.

Right now we are trying to time it right and get his phone into emmc mode.. one that's done, I think we should have this problem fixed.
Windows recognizes it as QHSUSB_DLOAD (so its still alive), but when he holds down power, no lights flash, making this hard to time

Is your mmcblk0p4 from 2.20? I don't know if that would matter.
I think it's because we are using Ubuntu 12.10 and not 12.04, will report back eventually..

12.10 is not happening, if it's successful on 12.04, even just the unbrick method, I'm not concerned about the downgrade anymore, this could be good news for our little international rom lovers

sorry i was out...no partition is from 1.85 or maybe even 1.73 don't remember,
any luck ?? have you tried to talk to beaups or 18th.abn ?

Unbricking has been a real pain in the butt using ubuntu, we found it to much easier and more successful using tinycore from a bootable USB. I don't know why, but it's been proven on several devices so try that. Also, p4 holds the device imei and cid, when it gets corrupted in may be causing the soft brick because p12 is dependent on its information since it also displays the device imei and phone info, so do p12, make sure your using a signed image and do p4, which can be any p4, the imei will just have to be repaired afterward. It will spring to life, I promise you

@crappy, nah we had to stop for the night cause I had to get up early and get senior pictures taken.
I had him install Ubuntu 12.04 rather than use a LiveCD, so we'll try it again later today.
@18th
We got to the point where it starts writing p4, but hangs and continuously sends the Reset, I posted in the thread over at the evo LTE forum asking about it, holding the power button for 30+ seconds as suggested prints an error cannot reset device
I am using mmcblk0p4 from crappy, and your hboot from dropbox.

On the hox, you only need to hold down the power button for about 10-12 seconds so 30 may be too long and sending a time out to the emmc recover tool

[WIP]SuperCID testing/Goldcard testing?

Hey all. I wanted to get something going here on this. I've been trying all sorts as I'm sure other have.
I've tried pushing a modified mmcblk0p4 to dev/block folder but on closer inspection there's files perhaps controlling that file in platforms and deeper.
I've attached my zip file to flash in recovery for push modified mmcblk0p4 and p4 to the phone.
Please note it doesn't work! It doesn't seem to harm anything so don't worry but it simply doesn't write.
So having said all this. Has anyone got any idea how the files are controlled? Maybe one of the loop files tells the other files what they should be? Or could there be hidden files.
Anyway devs please feel free to have a look at my zip and maybe someone with a bit more knowhow might be able to mod it to function

Found another file containing CID and also my origional stock software number. mmcblk0p19. It allowed me to change the CID in this file and it stuck. But it has effected nothing currently. Going to look deeper and see what else might be there.

Unfortunately I won't be able to help you on this as I'm a bit of a noob :silly:. Just here to express my encouragement for your endeavours as I stand to benefit if you succeed as I am porting ORANG001 which I suspect will be right at the bottom of the pile update wise.
Perhaps some genius will crack the s-off riddle for this device which is hopefully more likely as this is running on qualcom . If I can be of any assistance in testing I would gladly help for what it's worth. Good Luck. :good:

That is right. I have been trying to figure out how to write to that partition but i think im not that smart... I was thinking if anyone tried similar method to Facepalm S-OFF from HOX forums. I bet if we can somehow semi-brick the phone then it would open partitions for writing. JET used the same approach to downgrade HBOOT which is protected in S-ON

Facepalm takes advantage of supercid, so for that to work we would need to figure this out first
The semi brick was caused by flashing an evo lte p4 (extended partition table I believe) and no the HBOOT wasn't write protected so that's how it worked, but the signature was checked so you could only write a hboot from HTC.
So I doubt that would work, if I remember correctly the write protection is brought on early in the boot process, and to disable it you had to do some sort of power cycle without rebooting the phone

I said that hboot was write protected and to unprotect it they had to semi-brick it using corrupted p4 partition. So YES, hboot is write protected during normal boot cycle, and when they introduced corrupted partition and semi-bricked the device, it disabled write protection on hboot.
Sorry if my english is confusing, its not my first language.

It's power on write protection. It doesn't get any earlier in the boot process than that.
P4/5 are your cid partitions. Anyother references to cid in other partitions are only that, and changing them will not change device cid.

There still has to be some way to disable it though.....Must figure this one out!!!

Just had a go at something a bit different.
Managed to write Goldcard.img to mmcblk0 and it seems to have stuck. BUT.....Nothing's changed lol, and I attempted an RUU I knew shouldn't work....and it didn't.....So....I dunno....Anyone got any Ideas?

There is always an exploit. I'm not saying the write protection means it's impossible.
HTC doesn't use gold cards anymore.

What about Alpharev and unrEVOked? They were responsible for S-Off on the Sensation and such, i haven't heard anything but they may be looking into it too.

Cheers. I'm actually loving the phone and for once have only really rooted it etc just because and not really for any gain but I can't help but want to try and help 'crack the nut' as it were....I doubt I will manage it though as I think it seems a bit above my skills but it's all worth a shot.

Being a dev myself (not android - mostly just web stuff for work), it always seems like things are "above my skills" until I figure it out. Like the above poster said, persistence is all that is needed. We have "bang head here" signs at my office for a reason

Yea i'm not even trying m8, i'd break something, i keep meaning to get into this dev lark but you need a lot of knowledge and a lot of people don't realise that.
If it were windows then lol, i'm in there but android has always been a bit of a hard nut to crack for me.
I've got some basic knowledge on the OS and the background workings but not nearly enough to make my own rom. One day i'll research it but at the moment with my life i have no time for anything let alone developing.

Yeh I didn't touch anything until I dabbled with a ROM for the DHD. I didn't do much dev work but I took a ROM and then tweaked it a bit. If you google enough you soon figure out how to do the odd bit here and there. Wish I had more programming knowledge but I suppose everyone's gotta start somewhere!

[Q] HOX is dead Please HELP!

Hi, i updated my htc one x at&t through HTC Manager with RUU Stock Rom. Everything was going fine and i don't know wth happen!!! Now my HOX wont power on after upgrade!! If i plug it to computer this one recognize the phone but htc sync manager doesn´t. PLease help me if you need more info please ask for it!! thank you very much!

how can i do that? i can't get into bootloader or recovery to do it! thanks for your reply

exactly same problem here... I think this is a brick.... soft or hard i cant tell. I am trying to use a home made jig still no progress, may be i connected it badly.
Still got faith b4 opening this beast/beauty... I'll post if any advance...

There's no such thing as a soft brick, it's either bricked or it's not.

Sorry to say this but your bricked
Running RUU while S-ON = Brick.

yap.... that's the beauty...
on a pc when flashing cmos there are
jumpers/pins if connected they wipe cmos
is this similar with the htc one x board..... maybe it would work.
has anyone done this....

SuperCID
HBOOT 1.14
I really don't understand. Am i in the same situation? why do this happen to a phone? there must be a way to solve this kind of problems. I downloaded the stock rom (.exe file) from htc webpage at at&t htc one x update tutorial. why if htx is letting someone downloading it the phone can get bricked? thank you for your answers

I unfortunately had the same issue, The SuperCID & S-ON come into play. You would want to do the JTAG revival, your only hope. Your SuperCID indicates the modification done, which primarily causes this.

Would you recomend riff jtag? i know it is very expensive but i will look for some one in my city who has it. Any other idea of how to solve it? any idea if i can build jtag on my own. i'm good with electronics so i think i can do it if i get the circuit diagram. thank you

To be honest you'd be better off getting someone who knows what they're doing to do it for you. HTC have nothing to do with the RUU bricking phones, it's nit a fault with the RUU. It's because it looks for certain criteria wharf it runs and if you don't have those criteria it goes bad. It's up to the users to educate themselves about what happens when they've modified their phones.

The brick is due to SuperCID, which is a mod/hack that you did. HTC is not responsible for that. RUU with SuperCID typically shouldn't result in a brick. But on the other hand, you should always do thorough research before applying any stock updates (RUU or OTA) to a modded phone.
If there was a way to come back form this short of JTAG, it hasn't been found yet. And its been worked on by some knowledgeable and skilled folks here.

I've messed up my phone twice & was rescued through JTAG by MobileVideotech. The service is good, although the AT&T ROM that they loaded kept my phone rebooting frequently. However, I have seen that issue ever since I came on custom ROMs. You can give it a try if you wish.
