Well, My first advice to you would be to never purchase from one of the Chinese tablet makers. They are cheaply made and are never what is advertised. But if you really need help, I would need to know what version of android you are running and the name of the device. Please reply to this post as fast as you can for the quickest help I can give you.

Lol, I am never going to order from anyone like that again!! I bought the 'pocket rock' running ICS 4.0.4
Thanks SO much!

May I ask how much you paid for it? And do you know how to root the tablet? Or do I need to teach you how to do that? Because I found a link to a flashable .zip of the google playstore for ICS. just tell me what you need.

I've never rooted anything before, but I am prettu good with computers. I thus, will need help to root it. I paid $62 !! Thats why I bought it, seemed like an amazing deal! And it is a 'good' tablet, nothing better than that.

Hmm, if I were you, I would have just went with the new Nexus 7. It's only $200 and is an amazing tablet. But let me see, I'm not finding much of anything on your tablet :/ could you link me to the original page where you bought the item? Thanks.

Ok, xda will not let me post a lke, so I will post half a lik, and probly get this post deleted like last time chinavasion.com/t4s0/ I was thinking about it, but I have a 10.1" tablet and I wanted one more like a phone so I don't have to carry this monster around with me. The Samsung Galaxy Player 5.0 was my first pick, but its $200 as well... so I thought I'd take a chance on it. And with your help, it just might work out half as good as I hoped so, Thank you very much again!! (The bad part is I talked my brother into buying onr with me and his is the same way so, thats much worse than mine not working!!) /\ thank you SOOOO SO SO MUCH!!!

Dual boot manager

So I saw this app on Lifehacker:
http://lifehacker.com/5826050/how-to-dual-boot-multiple-roms-on-your-android-phone
Has anyone tried this on our phones? I'm very interested in using it but I'm not going to buy it if it's known to not work.

Wow, that would be awesome! Not yet officially supported on our phone according to link. Seems like it would be pretty buggy running on SD.
Somewhat on topic, this is one of the reasons I got an LG phone. I work with VMware products in my job and they've partnered with LG to work on giving users the ability to run a business and personal accounts simultaneously through virtualization. Not 100% sure if it is actually a whole other ROM but it looks like it from the demo. If it's true virtualization for phones, I could see you being able to run multiple ROMs.
Check it out. Might be another option when it comes out:

The dev on this sent me an email and said they are working on this device and one of his guys is testing it out now. It should be available soon. The dev was also very helpful and very quick to respond to my email.

Send me the info. I'll see if I can get it going.
Short answer, it doesn't work.. lol... It can't flash the boot.img. I'll send some info to the dev, hopefully he will be able to update the code and get us going.
Cool thanks

i have tried the v.1.2 of this app and had no luck just error when it was trying to create a boot.img of the rom i was wanting to install. i'll guess i'll go back to doing a nandroid backup of the other rom and just reflash the backup when i want to use it. at least that way works. i was really looking forward to giving this app a go as well, just a shame really..........sudeki300
Want this bad!

For me, it worked when i was restoring from a nandroid (only worked once).
I'm not sure whether it was setup issue or whether it was software.
Will report back after further testing =D

I don't think you are allowed to get rid of the hd2, its the best "android" phone ever, too bad i broke mine after a couple days of having mine, then I got a g2x.

I'm pretty sure he's just saying it's the best due to all of it's sources being available which allows it to be updated so frequently.
But no, it's not lol, not anymore.

Viewsonic Viewbook vb730

Could we get some love for the Viewsonic Viewbook vb730 on XDA? I know that it's not that popular of a tablet but it would be cool to have a place for questions.
Agree... Should any big head of Xda help me on this? New firmware? Best software for this?

Do you have the vb730? I'd like your thoughts on this device. How much drive space is set aside for apps. This looks like the tablet for me. I just think the reviews do not give it justice.

Yes I do. I am using a Vb730. I do think it is a combination product of tablet and E-reader.
The Internal Memory is 8GB and the space for data application is about 5 GB/8GB. But you can expand the capacity by Micro SD... I am using 16 GB Micro SD card (around 30$ I think)
For an e-reader, it use LCD screen so could be not very good for your eyes.
For a tablet, it is not multiple touch screen so you can not use two of your finger the same time.
Most of the Android software can be installed by using Explorer software of this. It is quite simple. However, you could not install Android Market Software... But you can use Amazon Application...
I do think it is quite good with the price you have to pay...
Thanks. Now just waiting for Christmas to get this or the Galaxy Tab 7. I really think the vb would suit me fine.

Kijiji for android official app out now!

Hey everyone.
Just wanted to let everyone who uses kijiji know they have finally released an official app via the play store! Works great so far on my galaxy nexus running jelly bean.
Enjoy

FINALLY! Yes I always use Kijiji and I hate having to login on the computer.
kijiji is great for getting local classifieds..Fantastic..Used it on Iphone..Though havn't checked it on any android device.
Hey folks,
I just purchased my Nexus 7 a few days ago, and have tried downloading the Kijiji App. Unfortunately, it's incompatible. I've got a stock Nexus 7 that has not been rooted, nor do I think I will anytime soon. Ive looked into Rooting the device, but I'm not sure whether that'll help me install the app. I have also looked for the APK, but no to avail.
Is rooting and messing around with screen DPI and whatnot my only option?
Thanks for your time.
Really? Why not just use craigslist? What makes Kijiji better?

Kijiji is way more popular and widely used then craigslist. Especially here in ontario, canada. They have a mobile website but it does not work very well at all.

[Q] new uses of our old O1, ideas and projects

Hi everyone!!!
Like some of you I bought a new phone, but my O1 stills in perfect conditions...
Considering its quite old and not of much monetary value (at least in my country) selling it is kind of hard.
So I was wondering if there's any alternative interesting use for my O1... Perhaps as a web server? Or a kind of joystick or remote?
This thread is to give ideas and suggestions about a new life/use for old O1s
***UPDATE***
This seems to be already a popular a the best option IMO http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2084746
At this point there's no release, but it's quite promising

Put it in a drawer and wait for Ubuntu, hope it works on an EXT partition...

Like someone else did here, use it just for navigation. Uninstall all useless apps make it barebone to have ultimate battery life with any froyo/gb rom.

I think I could that anyway with my new phone... The thing is to give it a new use, not just a smartphone with another OS...
Perhaps it would be interesting if I used ubuntu in my desktop and so there would be awesome functions I suppose
