It's pretty much a given that ICS for the Atrix 2 will offer at least some sort of performance improvement...but if we thought stock ICS was fast, what would our phone look like with this type of performance optimization added on top of that?
Agreed. I'm running the Linaro AOKP build on my GNex and its verrrry snappy. Can't wait until they integrate it into the Milestone CM9

This should be great. We should see if there's any way to bring the parts into stock ICS without all the CM9 custom bits

I wonder what's the fastest stable rom for the verizon Galaxy S3, in terms of Speed and performance, Personally I think Senergy is the one, any other Ideas... thanks
I think it comes down more to how bloated/bloatfree the rom is and the kernel imo
I'm pretty happy with my JB AOKP rom, though and feel JB is quicker than ICS

Ya all the mainstream cm10 roms are overwhelming since there are 4+ of them and I have no idea what separates them.

CM10 nightlies are decently stable, very fast, ParanoidAndroid nightlies are pretty stable and fast. Synergy is good, but for me there was a delay in the screen unlocking and the in call volume setting won't stick. I've been using CleanRom 2 now, all is good
Clean ROM 2.0 is very fast an most of all, stable.

Synergy definitely. Currently testing out the new ParanoidAndroid for now though.

Personally I use almost all roms, and I was Senergy fan, but some how Clean Rom is the fastest, smoothest and most stable GS3 Rom I've ever seen, it's smooth like a babe, lol
I really got to try clean rom. I'm just too addicted to the dark horse rises theme and synergy's utter greatness. Personally I think right now (today) the jb rom's are just not there yet, but that's just me. Tomorrow is a different story.....

Jb should get better after the official release. Right now I'm rocking cleanrom

I much prefer CM10 to Synergy or Clean Rom. Tried them both and for some reason I just love the look and responsiveness of CM10 more. Granted there are data hiccups here and there but the latest nightly has fixed that issue. Try experimenting with different kernels and ROMs and im sure you will find a combination that works best for you.

I get the best battery life on this.
I'm on synergy with clean kernel at 1.9 and I tingle every time I turn on my phone

TW has some good features I'd hate to give up - e.g. the video player, camera, music player are all fantastic apps, better than anything in AOSP.

The video player is outstanding although there you can run multiple programs in AOSP to replace it
I agree the camera is irreplaceable
I only use Play Music so I cannot comment too much on the TW music player
But ParanoidAndroid (scarce bugs aside) really is so unique I can't go back to TW at this current time
If you want stability go with 4.0

To be honest I've tried every Rom. And even stock this phone is buttery smooth. I have had almost every high end android phone Verizon has sold. The s3 is the only phone out of a about my 8 other phones I've had in the last few years that I have never seen lag or stutter. It is perfect and always smooth. Way better then the GNEX or rezound I had. I've had the s3 since launch in July and I have not seen it lag yet. This phone has truly impressed me and I'm very picky.

Cleanrom @ 1.9 ghz is stupid fast and super reliable.

I've tried them all and always end up back on clean rom. I always find something buggy on the others, not so on Clean rom.

I'm getting tired from going one to the other just so I can have let's say one has blue tooth and the other has a working camera. In your opinions what's the best one you guys have used.

In my opinion the best rom I have used and still use is Aeon v1.4L or whatevver the newest one. Its still gingerbread but stable and gives me fast service speeds.
On gingerbread: miuiscotland_I997-2.4.17
On ICS: RemICS-UX
On JB: RemICS-JB or CM10
In my opinion:
For GB: ZEUS 6.0 or Aeon 1.4SL
For ICS: Uni-yuma-Porn B.40
And for JB: ParanoidAndroid
Hope this helps

GB. Stock rooted. Sorry to admit it but I had battery or lag issues with most of the others I tried.
ICS. Cm9- although its the only one I stuck with for more than a few days.
Job. Tried cm10 and paranoid android. I liked cm10 better. All the extras inPA weren't much use to me. GPS doesn't work well in any jb Roms though so I'm back on cm.
catyrom works pretty good. its GB with an ICS look.
paranoid android was good for me in both ICS and JB, however i have been running the Cypher ROM for the last 4-5 weeks and that is the longest i have been on one ROM in quite a while.
Zues has always been strong for GB too.
CM10 rocks
I have never tried any other than stock ROM until I saw JB released. I realized that I should have this on my Infuse.
I tried cypherROM, CM10 and ParanoidAndroid. To me I felt that PA and CM10 are almost same, but felt CM10 is faster(though they use same source).
cypherROM is different UI feel and I personally like it better than CM10 in terms of it's UI colors.
I've found that I simply hate ICS and JB. As far as I'm concerned, the "best" ROMs are either a rooted and slightly customized stock UCLB3, or CM7.2.

Scott's CM10. Use FasterGPS, and change your GPS settings according to instructions in the thread. The initial lock will take a while, but after you get the first lock, it's within a matter of seconds that I can lock onto 7 satellites within SECONDS inside work, (which is an all metal building that is an auto dealer). I don't know about Bluetooth, since I don't use that function, but I have no issues with the camera at all, or internet speeds. I am extremely happy with CM10, and the ability to overclock easily.
Ive been rocking CM for sometime now with this phone and all previous ones, and I do like it its been my dd, but im looking for something different. Now I know this is/can be opinionated and subjective to users, but I would like to get into a good discussion about my next ROM for my S3.
So lets see what you bring to the table.
JellyBeans, CleanROM and HELLSROM are great, stable and fully supported. Check them out. I go between them and am currently on 4.2.1 HELLSROM
Depends on if you want a TouchWiz ROM or an AOSP ROM
Well I'd like to stick with AOSP or AOKP
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
If you want to try something completely different and stay with AOSP, i suggest trying MIUI.

This is a great build/ rom in the link
That's actually one I'd prefer not to use, I tried that with my droid 2 and to be honest I did not care for it. For me it didn't flow well...if that makes sense

yeah i know what you mean, i used to use MIUI but not anymore, now i use Jelly Beans rom by beanstown106... which for me i like it because of the AOSP theme and feel, but with touchwiz features and stability. mainly the touchwiz camera.

I've been running CleanROM 5.6 with LeanKernel 1.6 for a couple of days now. I've never used a version of CleanROM that wasn't stable.
If you want a stable AOSP ROM that doesn't have much bugs you would have to go to late versions such as Milestone 1 release of AOKP, but if you want a TouchWiz ROM with a 4.2 AOSP feel HellsROM (recent development so will have a few bugs) would be perfect.
AOKP
HellsROM

I have thought about using AOKP, and from what I can tell they are getting ready to release a new version over at rootzwiki ( I could be wrong ) or I was thinking about Parnoid..

Ya, I tried touchwiz for a while for some reason battery life isn't as balanced as in AOSP ROM's atleast for me anyway, but performance wise they are pretty smooth.
I guess the problem is there are so many spread out across so many forums it's very difficult to get them in one spot.
I've been looking at what's been mentioned but still nothing has jumped out at me. I guess I need to choose one and go with it, unless I should wait for something to come out

I prefer TW roms myself. As stated before, CleanRom is one of the most stable roms I have ever ran but GalaxyMod 14.1 has so many great custom ports that it has turned my S3 into a mini Note 2

Ive been looking at Clean ROM for awhile, I might make the jump. As for GalaxyMod 14.1 I have not seen that one.. might give that one a look too
I am about to try out the newest version of pac-man ROM. It is a hybrid of AOKP,CM 10 and Paranoid Android.

The newest version of cleanrom is my personal favorite. Its very fast, clean, lite, and super stable. I don't have a single issue with anything on this rom. Its updated every now and then but not to fix issues because there are none, but to make it even better by removing more crap from the system to make battery life even better. I've tried a bunch of roms and I get better battery life, faster and smoother performance, perfect stability, and overall happiness with this rom than anything else that I've tried. Along with the k3 modem and rpm its perfect. I got 1 day and 4.5 hours off a single charge before I got to 10% battery with medium use (using my phone as I normally would, without purposefully letting it standby to save battery). If I had to pay $50 to have this rom, I'd do it. Flash it and give it a couple days and you'll see why.

I'd have to say that synergy r257 and clean ROM 5.6 are the two best ROMs

I've been using DarthStalker for my S3 for a while now and I'm thinking about switching to a rom that will be updated more frequently. I'm deciding between CarbonRom and LiquidSmooth. Both look sexy as hell and seem to have great features but both seem to be kind of unstable and very hit-and-miss with having everything work (yes, I know that mainly people with problems will post in the tread). I just want to hear other people's experiences with the two roms and if they have a preference in regards to which one they like more.
AOKP

I am currently running LiquidSmooth v2.5. I have had no issues whatsoever and the battery life with LeanKernel is fantastic. I switched to LS from JellyBeans 15 running Ktoonz kernel. Both ROMs are great, but I think I'll stick with LiquidSmooth. :good:
Liquid is stable. Run away from Carbon.
Carbon is a great rom and has tons of features!! They also have a new nightly build available with Halo.
ehaions starved
I was a die hard Carbon user for a number of releases but the last one or two were just incredibly buggy for me. Went to Liquid and it has all the features I use from Carbon and has been running much better.
AOKP runs great too but it doesn't have hardware key remapping which I find really handy.
I use liquid smooth. I really like carbon but there seems to be problems occasionally and I decided it was better on liquid. Just updated to the v2.5 and seems to be running super smooth and reliable.

Carbon's been my daily driver for a while now. It's so snappy and practically bugless for me. I tried liquidsmooth a few times and it was much more buggy. I guess ymmv...
