Hi all im new to the android game, iam trying to repair my s3 imei with QPST NV item Manger. But im stuck at the Qualcomm USB Settings part where you enter *#7284# the only settings that come up are UART And USB where you can change it to pda or modem. When i change the USB to modem from pda it comes up on the computer as cdc communications interface and asks for a driver.
Any help will be great ive been stuck on this for 2days trying to figure it out
My galaxy s3 is locked to vodafone running a jelly bean custom rom. It was Ice cream sandwich before but when i put in *#7284# it would just come up as "connection problem or invalid MMI code".
Thanks in Advance

I am trying to use CDMA workshop with my Samsung Galaxy Prevail. In my device Manager, it shows up under Android USB Device as "Samsung Android USB
Composite ADB Interface"
It also shows up under Modems as "Samsung Android USB Modem" it is connected to port 4.
I have set my phone to Debugging. I have hit "##8778#" and entered my MSL and set DM to USB, I have also allowed Mock locations, allowed to Stay awake, allwoed unknown sources. checked everything I could.
I can connect to it on port 4 in CDMA workshop, but it fails to read "failed...Phone does not answer" is the error I get when I click "Read"
When I hook my HTC EVO SHIFT 4G up, it connects and reads.
Can anyone help me?

i've been "phone hopping" for the last 2 weeks, & just came across the prevail. imho, it sucks. now, depending on what your looking for in cdma ws i may have a workaround.
What version of CDMA are you using?
It sounds like its not recognizing your phone.
I tried the brand new demo but it won't allow you to change prls
ended up finding a slightly different version at the thrift store lol
it might also simply be attempting to read the wrong port too
i had to play around in device manager quite a bit before it finally revealed the correct one
bought cdma workshop nov 2011. free upgrade until nov 2012. interested in transfering license to you, leave a private message
failed.. phone does not answer

Jason- I m facing similar issue. Was this issue resolved for u??? pls help..
---------- Post added at 06:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 05:40 AM ----------
I am facing a strange problem here. While i connected Sprint S3 for the first time, i was able to connect it to WS 2.7 by latching to the com port after getting in diag mode(rmnet+dm+modem). I was even able to unlock the set by entering samsung default password (while it was not getting spc unlocked) and then flashed cdma operator parameters. After the phone got reset, i checked for prl in the handset which was changed, which meant i was able to flash the parameters.
But then after that, i am able to connect my phone to ws2.7 by latching to the com port, but when i go to read or enter spc/etc, it gives an error "Failed... Phone does not answer". I tried removing the phone and connecting it again, changing the port, reinstalling drivers, but same issue. Request help from gurus..

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 Flashed to BoostMobile
I just got my brand new Sprint Samsung Galaxy S4 yesterday running Jellybean 4.2.2 and trying to flash it to boost. Any ideas how to flash and has anyone flashed 4.2.2? It seems that you cannot downgrade from 4.2.2 to an earlier version. Any help will be appreciated
Hi guys, as I explained in the related thread, after downgrading from ICS to GB my O3D p920 thanks to berni's guide, I'm now having troubles fixing my IMEI.
I followed this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1734330 without success.
After a short conversation with Pesach85 I noticed that, when connecting the phone to my PC in debug mode it normally detects and installs all the new hardware. But, after dialing 3845#*920# and selecting "CP Download image" from "Port settings", it seems to DISCONNECT ALL THE PREVIOUSLY DETECTED HARDWARE, and installs a new device (Intel(R) flash loader utility).
If someone tells me how to let all the hardware stay connected to my PC, I would be able to fix my IMEI with tutty.
if there's another method to fix the IMEI please write it here.
PLEASE HEEEELP!!
I've been in the same position for a while. Make sure to try the LG Support Tool recovery in S/W mode. (Remove battery, unplug USB, press vol UP, plugin USB - Power + Vol UP. It should show S/W mode. Depending on which loader it should show some korean text).
If you enter your IMEI number to repair the phone it should fix it all. Tho if you came from ICS you might need to do a factory reset after that when the phone boots (it will nag about no space available).
^ +1 This works. It will unroot your phone, but it will restore your IMEI.

Restoring IMEI
1.Connect phone by USB
2.Activate USB debug mode
3.Enter 3845#*920# in dialer if that doesn’t work try 3845#*925# or 3845#*720# if device is SU760
4.Select Port Settings -> Select CP Image Download
5.A new device should appear at let it install
6.Open Tutty (or hyperterminal) and select serial protocol. Click on open
7.Type AT if response is not OK, change port number (it is possible that when typing you don’t see any letters)
8.Type at%imei, it should display a dummy IMEI
9.Type at%imei=x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x,x where x,x,x... is your orginal IMEI number (found under the battery of your phone). It should response IMEI WRITE OK
10.Reboot phone
Click to collapse
But little changing in the above,
step 3 depend on your phone model or rom in it like for SU760 code it 3845#*760# and for P920 it is 3845#*920#
in step 4 I selected CP USB instead of CP Image Download or CP Reset
Final I was unable to get it to work in Windows 7 so I tried on Windows XP in my office and method magically worked and my imei is restored. I can make call and so on now

Hi to all!
This is my first post i xda-developers, but i have been following the forum for some time.
I tried to help a friend flashing a replica of an S3 GT-I9300 which he bought in Thailand.
I've done it with the SP Flash Tool and everything worked as it should.
The "only" problem is that the phone doesn't recognize the network radio (i think).
I've entered in the "Engeneer Mode" with Mobileuncle and tried to re-write de IMEI on SIM1.
But when i try that it says "Failed to write IMEI due to radio unavailable or something else."
I've tried with several rom's and allways says the same.
When the phone turns on it doesn't even asks for the pin.
Is there anything i can do to save the phone?
Thanks in advance!!!

Have you tried MTV Droid tools to restore the imei?
That could work. But i tried that already and MTK Tools says it can't find the phone. Do you know how the connection should be made? Without the battery and with the phone connected or just connect inside android with usb debugging on?

What computer OS are you running? Ive heard xp works the best and win 8 is the worst for this kind of thing.
I had the same problem on my win8 machine. I tried it again on an older win xp machine and it recognized it right away in dm+rmnet+modem mode. on COM port 10. So I was able to use EFS tools to restore my IMEI.
Also, this should be in Q&A/Troubleshooting section. So don't be surprised if this thread gets moved or deleted.
"Custom Binary blocked by FRP lock" & Odin/PC won't recognize the device
Okay so,
My phone has been rooted for a year, I disabled OEM Unlock by accident, my antivirus was always telling me its unsecure with this feature on and to 'click here' to disable it.. I forgot how important this was to have enabled while rooted and ended disabled it and that night rebooting my device.
I get this error when trying to boot my device:
"Custom Binary blocked by FRP lock"
I have the original stock firmware, and Odin and want to reset the phone but when I plug this device in ( while in download mode ) > the windows PC doesn't recognize it (no new device sound or any change in devicemanager) and therefore odin isn't recognizing anything either - - I can grab my other 2nd-device and boot it into download mode, plug it into the same setup and boom > recognized and 'Ready!' Status in odin almost immediately so I don't think it's my PC or the cables -- I don't think 1st-device has usb debugging enabled either and I'm not sure how to proceed ...
any help is much appreciated ...
Try to use Smart Switch (from Samsung website), which also has the latest drivers, to recover your phone. (Google "how to recover with smart switch")
Alright,
Forgot to mention I tried Samsung Kies but cannot find the serial number on the device, I'll give Smart Switch a try this evening on my other PC and report back... hopefully that PC recognizes it, my tablet connects to this laptop but not the phone.. could USB debugging being disable cause this?
How close to bricked is this?
I'm such a fool!
Thanks for the feedback so far..
Hi boot tar flash odin frp lock of after stock rom flash
I went through this a few weeks back. I found my serial number (was a sticker originally on back of phone) and used smart switch to recover firmware. Then enabled developer options, oem unlock, flash TWRP thru ODIN etc etc.
So if I find the serial number, I save it .. good to know, thanks!

Hey man, im having the exact same issue with my S7 edge.
So I got my IMEI number, and with my number I went to imei. info / and I got my serial number through a warranty check through the site, you have to register to do it.
I used Smart Switch and I get an error when trying to use the emergency recovery "Model number cannot be initialized"
I'm also getting the error on my PC when trying to connect my device to odin saying that "USB device cannot recognize" and with that I cannot flash the stock firmware on the device.
So if you have gotten any solution to the FRP lock please let me know.
Serial number is engraved on back cover next to the imei number -,- @samuraichick0n about "Model number cannot be initialized" try to write it in diffrent forms eg. G935f or SM-G935f uppercase or lowercase.

Yes, I've tried a different PC - "USB Device Malfunctioned /Device cannot be recognized"
Also a PSA: Smart Switch removed the recovery option for phones, you are ONLY able to get a recovery with the code from a previous backup.

Hello, after exhausting all options I had to take the device to Samsung themselves - eventually they had to replace the motherboard on the phone to fix it.
So check if your phone is under warranty and take it in.
I fixed this when I first rooted by flashing the stock bootloader, firmware etc everything through odin
Thanks
