[NEW!] Gods War: Shadow of the Death RPG working nicely on Xperia Play - Xperia Play Themes and Apps

Worth a look if you're into games like Zenonia.
God's War: Shadow of the Death on the Google Play Store
EDIT: Also, I've been too busy to update XperiaPlayGamer lately, but I have kept all the games that I'll be adding logged, so I can at least give ya those:
• Cube Defender - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.parkpossegames.cubedefender
• 3D Mini Golf Challenge - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digitalchocolate.minigolffull
• Greedy Spiders 2 - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.blyts.greedyspiders2
• Micro Machines - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wMicroMachinesTTClassicforXperiaPlay
• Frogger - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wFroggerforXperiaPlay
• Crazy Snake - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cmyksoft.snake

• Gods Wars:Shadow of the Death - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ycgame.thor2en

Does this just run on the Xperia Play or do the buttons work? People keep posting games that aren't optimised here and I don't want to spend money on a game that uses the touch screen. Thanks

Get Game Keyboard. It'll let you map touchscreen games to the Xperia Play controller.

Yep, the buttons work. I don't make topics for games unless they work with Xperia Play's buttons.
You can; however, use GameKeyboard if you want to change which buttons do which functions (if you like to customize).

Images are pixelated and the front image is a re-drawn image of regret in zenonia 4, gameplay is a bit close to inotia. Seems like its a rip off on some other games merged to re-create 1.
sent on my r800i running on markpythons ICS

Thanks TLR I will grab this, knowing it's optimised

Looks really nice...thanks for the heads-up typikal!
Wonder if it's worth that price, i don't know. I know it's not much. But it gets alot if you buy like 100 games like this for that price that's why.
I'd say it's worth it, this game feels way more polished than most gameloft games. I like it.
It's pretty good
a side scrolling platformer with enemies, shooting and reverse gravity. Also the online leaderboards help for replayability. I'm #1 in 1-8!
at 49MB... does it let you store it on the SD card?
game is very good, seems a bit laggy/stuttery scrolling to me though

It seems to default to installing on the card, which is probably why the install took longer than normal. It clocks in at 1.95mb on the phone memory
bought the game,its awesome
Ok i'll give it a shot
woaw and yhe intro video!
A great platformer.
Only gripe is the long loading times between levels, they should have covered it with at least a loading screen. And no analog support.

The lack of no analog support don't bather me. I couldn't even imagine mario on NES without a d-pad
Look sweet gonna check it out
i meant to post about 6 levels ago and say this game its good but 6 levels later im hooked lol

Nope, I don't see it when passing/entering levels, only when resuming a game from a fresh start. Maybe there's a problem with my phone then. It probably wouldn't be long if there was a loading screen (on my phone) to tell me it was loading.

Nothing like Cordy, this one is more fast paced and has better mechanics.
Its Sonic the hedge, meets Super mario Brothers wrapped up in a beautiful 3D world.

Whoa... now Great Little War Game really is Xperia PLAY Optimized!

There always has been prior mentions that GLWG sorta worked with Xperia PLAY's d-pad. This update makes it official though! Shows up in the Game Launcher and everything!
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.rubicon.dev.glwg
CURRENT VERSION: 1.1.1
What's in this version:
1. Point release with additional support for Xperia PLAY devices.
2. Changed description text for Standard Campaign
3. Added support for Vizio tablets and all devices with Marvell chipsets.
Xperia PLAY's game support just looks more and more awesome by the moment.
The game is a direct rip off of advance wars for GBA
if you never played it I suggest checking it out.
Tho I'm really not mad because I like both versions / both spins on it.
Xperia Play optimized? Sorry but this "optimization" is a total joke...
You still have to use touchscreen to move your units, camera moves horribly when pressing dpad (left arrow to move camera to the bottom right?? WTF?!). You can just zoom in and out with triangle and square and can rotate the camera with the triggers...
Surely "great work" in optimizing this game -.-
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
a lil bit old news, this is optimized already even in 1.1 version, romcio is right this is much playable if you will use touchscreen..
d-pad mapping is just sick as hell
not worth the "Xperia PLAY Optimized" tag
great game though

The [console name] Wars strategy series has been long-running in Japan, though our first taste came on the GBA. In fact, the developer (Nintendo's own Intelligent Systems) is also responsible for the very similar Fire Emblem turn-based strategy RPG series and everything from Final Fantasy Tactics to Front Mission is based on those. They both started in the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System/Nintendo Famicom days! Anyway, my point is that nearly any turn based strategy game is inspired by the Wars series and nearly any SRPG is inspired from the Fire Emblem series.
Even when they are late to the party, like they were when they made their Real-Time Strategy games Pikmin and Pikmin 2, there were others blatantly "inspired" by them, like Code Masters' Overlord and Overlord II.

I would say those games you mention are similar to advance wars
with advance wars you start with some money and build a unit to attack the other team
you have fog of war usually to make the game scary when playing with your mates on a train ride
1 person would get the device. make a new unit and move it
then pass it to their mate and they would do the same thing
till eventually you would run up on them and have a full on war
it was a crazy game
and this great little war is basicly using the whole same template with fog of war and money and units, even the grid system.
so ya i would say advance war is a pioneer in that respect
being able to play with ya mates on a train passing the device back and forth

Thank you guys
Good work for a 13 year old boy! Just next time try "pure 8-bit graphic" or find a friend who draw a graphic for your next project. It will improve your app.
Ya Thats a nice idea
Update 1.6 / 1.7:
-Better gameover fist
-Better fonts and gui
-Minimal bug fixes
-Minimal performance optimazion
Is it possible to move to the right without drifting away from the x-axis? When I move my finger continuous from the top to the bottom on the right side (relative to landscape mode) the joystick jumps from +n° to -n° instead of passing 0°. That is really annoying and makes it hard to follow edges and avoid collisions.
Are you using rectangles for collision detection of circular objects? I am not sure, but it feels like you are doing this.
In level 6 I collided with a moving obstacle which did not visually touch the player. There was a distance of ~1mm between the player and the rendered obstacle.
Overall: This game reminds me of some old Atari games, where you collected items and bounced against walls to find secrets. I like the game but the precision of the joystick should be improved.
Tested on: Motorola Milestone, CM9, Android 4.0.4.
Edit: Also tested on: LG P880 4X HD.
Thank you for your feedback

Wow, it seems really nice! An HD remake of a great classic! Is it optimized with touchpads?
Just brought this for my Xperia Z and must say it is now my favourite fighter on the store. Don't get me wrong I love the classic 2D fighters as it's what I grew up on, but this HD remake feels more like an up to date made for mobile quality title and not the original I had and loved.
BTW - What did the game cost you? (anyone that brought it legally).
It states the first 2 weeks it's on offer but it cost me over £4 UK (around $6 - 7 US I belive), that would make this an expensive game for Android when it increases further if this is the proper sale price.

Has anyone else on Gingerbread noticed that you are able to move up and down the main menu using the left touchpad? Nothing else works at all, just that. Very strange.
It runs pretty well on my xplay

Too bad the controls won't work though.
It's definitly not soul blade, I'm not sure if it's really like soulcalibur 1. I haven't played this game for too long.
Soul Edge (ソウルエッジ Sōru Ejji?) is a 1995 3D arcade fighting game developed by the team Project Soul and published by Namco. It is the first installment in the Soul series of weapon-based fighting games. An upgraded and expanded version of the game was ported to the PlayStation later that same year. Namco chose to use the title Soul Blade in Europe, North America and Australia. The game was a commercial and critical success and was followed by a several sequels, beginning with Soulcalibur in 1998.(wiki)

nothing new ^^ I know about this stuff, the game soulcalibur on android is not soulblade/edge
I have played soulcalibur1 on my friend's dreamcast long time ago so I can't say if it's really this games graphics.
All I can say is that it has better graphics than soulblad but worse than soulcalibur2
Looks very nice, I hope I can play it smoothly with no lags at all.
