Just got my Tf300. It does have some minimal backlight bleed on the bottom. Is this normal or should I look at a replacement?
i'm pretty sure that is because the thing is made out of plastic and not metal.
No matter what you do to plastic, it is going to bend and mold, you won't find one that doesn't bleed for long. Mine started the first day it was bottom right corner then after a month it is all over the bottom and right side....
I can't wait till I buy a new tablet.

Mine had pretty bad light bleed which was especially noticable when using the Kindle app with a black background. I got in touch with Asus through their website, sent them a photo of the screen and they suggested it went off for repair.
They sent a courier to pick it up from my work on a Thursday lunchtime, and it was delivered by courier back to my work the following Wednesday afternoon after having the screen and digitizer replaced. Looks much better now and much less light bleed.
Best of all, it didn't cost me a penny

Hello! Today I received my new G-Tablet, but immediately noticed what seems a black spot on top of the screen (I haven't even turned it on yet) I tried to clean it off but it doesn't come off at all, I have looked at it closely and it projects a shadow downwards, which is why I believe it's right on top of the screen. I have no idea how it impacts the actual image on the screen since I just received the tablet, but I am a bit concerned that it will show quite clearly once I turn it on. Any suggestions on how to remove this "dirt"? Thanks!
I read the other posts but it seems that they were about dirt under the screen, which I don't believe is my case.
Thanks!
When I received my gtab it had multiple speces of dust under the screen. I asked about it here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=903360
Apparently I wasn't the only one.
I returned my gtab and exchanged it for a new one. I explained my problem to the retailer and the new one they sent me was perfect.
are u sure its on the screen and not in the frame. if in the frame in the upper left by the power button and under where the volume buttons are its the light sensor thats used to auto adjust the lcd brightness. there is another spot like that on the screen in the lower left its where the led for power and charge is.
mine was like that too. Did you order from amazon by any chance?
Well I did order from Amazon actually, in the end I just returned it, my replacement should arrive Monday. Hopefully this one is without problems, for I am dying to "mess" with my Gtablet! I have rooted and whatnot my Incredible and I enjoy it greatly XD
It took me a month to get mine back after sending it in for an exchange.
Longest month of my life.
Now I'm in heaven, Swyping across a 10" screen.
Oh wow a month?!? Damn XD I guess I am lucky... My replacement tablet is already on the way with a delivery estimate of March 7. The Amazon page says "it's being prepared for shipment" but they are sending it with one-day shipping and should arrive Monday. I guess I am lucky I really hope that this one has no issues though... I am going to use an Ipad screen protector on the screen of it until my Skinomi screen protector arrives
It took a month because I sent it back right after Christmas. Guess they were backed up with returns.
So, I was lucky enough to get my transformer today. Though I do love it, is anyone else having these problems?
-Light bleed
-Creaking/flex on the right side of the tablet, but not on the left
-Some dead pixels(not very noticeable, but I was able to catch around 3-4)

I have minor light bleeding but no creaking or flex.. How are you checking for dead pixel?
There are a few other threads about the flexing and the light bleed. I haven't experienced any dead pixels, but there is a specific paragraph on it in the warranty i.e how many and how close together in order to qualify for a warranty repair.
My Transformer is flexing at the top rim near the camera. I don't really think its a huge problem though. Just feels weird if you grip there.

Light bleed:yes, but not noticeable most time, and this issue seems to be common.
Creaking:sometimes, especially when holding TF by one hand, acceptable though.
No dead pixels,i've tested that using some pure color pictures.
On the 3rd day,i found a dust under the lens cover of rear camera...

my main concern is that on day one i had no bleed nor creaking. but 6 days later now i have both. what happens a month from now? the paint flakes?
i don't plan on keeping it after kal-el tablets come out, but dammit i'd like for it to last that long.
i just picked up the pre-order from best buy that i was going to cancel b/c i wanted to see if it had less issues. the new one actually has more bleed than my current but no creaking. i'm pretty sure it'll start creaking if i put more handling on it.
Makes me wanna believe they glued the rim on thats why its creaking when the glue fails to stick ;o
light bleed.
No, the pixels and light bleed arnt anything super major, but I dont know if I am ocd, but the the creaking seems to be enough to bother me. The ride side of the tablet is perfectly fine and very sturdy feeling, but I feel like the left is just not the same. Would this be okay to be sent in for warranty or exchanged? Should I just return it and wait?
Man... lots and lots of issues. I know the majority of people without issues, don't report. But the number of new cases keep expanding every day that goes by. I'm still waiting for my TF101, but I'm more and more skeptical.

it has to be. it would be terrible if it's screws getting loose already. I can actually squeeze the front and back together on my left corner. the back is no longer flush with the bezel like the right side is. the right is only giving slight squeaks. hoping it doesn't get worse.
I hate to say this but this is typed out on my iPad. I really hate posting in this forum on my android tablets bc of the lag.

The issues you are describing are serious build quality problems, the unit is defective and should be replaced.

Maybe you go to RC to solve these problem.
Hi, I had my note for about a week and a half and I noticed a lot of light bleeding through the plastic around the screen. Is this normal or should I be worried? Thank, RandomAwesomeGuy.
I never had any light bleed on my Note. I got it for two weeks now and everything seems fine. Maybe try to contact Samsung support or anything. As I've read around here, light bleeds are pretty unusual with Samsung's builds.

Same
I have the same problem. Not really sure about it but i can't return mine until I fill out the warrenty card, it doesn't really bother meq though.
There are reports of light bleed in notes unfortunately most of the tablet suffer from this if its new tablet just get it replaced. Though light bleed is not a sign of hardware failiure but note not put together properly
It is pretty bad, there is a lot of blotches on the screen and the plastic rim is bleeding light. Like I said, the tablet is about 1 and a half weeks old, and I still have the plastic protection around the sides and back . Does any one know if Bestbuy will exchange it?
Please post a photo to see what you mean.
I wanted to wait a couple of days before calling it official, but it seems like my screen is suffering from color bleed. If you look at the attached image, you'll easily notice the bleed into the screen from the top edge. I'll be returning it tomorrow and getting a replacement hopefully by end of week. I basically lost out on the cost of the tempered screen protector that I have on the phone. Bummer.
I've had four Z-line phones in the past but never a single issue. I guess there is always first time.
I have the same issue, bleed from the top. Mostly visible on a blue or white background though. Is this a defect or does everyone else experience it as well?
Not refuting but I do not have this issue.

The disappointment I think more because I was SO looking forward to getting it, I was literally counting the hours, and then when I opened the box I saw little chips off the frame and a gap between screen and frame, I was gutted, I was almost desperate enough to just keep the phone, as getting a replacement through Amazon is a pain (if you are in South Africa at least). But decided to get the replacement. so back to waiting for a few more days... just really peeved at the Quality control, especially as the build quality is one of the main reasons I selected the PH-1...
see photos below. was I being too critical?

I have a pure white one too and although I don't have too many issues with the frame like you, I do have a gap around the front camera which is causing light-bleed noticeable when it's dark. I (maybe stupidly) have ordered the halo grey version from Amazon US - hope it doesn't have the same issues.
let me know if the halo grey one is any better.

Are you certain that this is not just the sealant glue that is used to mount the screen assembly to the frame? I noticed that the glue, which is black, appears on every single PH-1.

I have a white as well. With similar I'd call micro-ridges along where the white material meets the glass. It's hard to see but once you see it you can't stop seeing them.
But what's worse is I'm having stains on the white material which don't seem to be able to wash off with a damp cloth. Extremely annoying.

Can't tell you about he Halo one but I ordered a Stellar Gray today. Have had a black one since September and I got tired of the fingerprints...That is why I did not order a copper black.
well, I'll see what the replacement looks like, if it is also not great, I'll try one of the darker colors.
Anyone have issue where adhesive residue is permanent where you peel off IMEI sticker on the back? I can tell that a sticker has been there, no matter how many times I try cleaning it.

I have seen that on one Essential PH-1 that I owned. My current one doesn't have that issue.
dh, what is your manufactures date of the ph1?

No, you are not. I would have replaced my phone too. I stayed in Singapore and have replaced my phone twice, I. E. Shipped 3 times. Took me more than 3 months to properly own my Essential Phone.
However for me, nothing was wrong with all the Essential Phones I got.. Were just some stupid accidents. I was, in fact, very very impressed with Amazon's service. When you are in Asia, you will understand how amazing Amazon is.
My current Essential Phone is the white one. Wanted to add that my one came in perfect condition. Not to brag but just so if someone who wants to buy comes in, he knows that not all Essential Phones are bad.
My replacement arrived today and its 100%, I'm SO chuffed, its gorgeous. I was really worried, as the replacement process though not arduous isn't easy (I'm in South Africa). Am so glad I didn't settle for the 1st one, as this one is great... no gaps or chips... now just to not drop it before my case arrives.
