First off, mandatory comment about asking questions in the wrong forum.
Secondly, I wouldn't expect anything to be released until asus officially releases the update file and/or source code on their website.

I was curious as well. I have the ASuS nag screen coming up saying I have downloaded it and asking me to update. Says Flash and WIFI Direct are not supported and that would probably be a deal killer for me. I would like to know the impact on my root access and pending flash.

As far as meeting your correct forum standards, I have a ROM pending install from this thread and would want to know the effect of this update on installation.
As far as expecting anything I would say that test has been met in that it came across as an update from ASUS. You might not have seen that depending on the ROM you are on, so could you please lighten up? It is a valid question and it does have an impact on development, and JB rom issues that seem to abound. Perhaps there are some fixes in this.

If you want a custom rom within 24 hours of the official jellybean release, make one yourself.
Of course there will be custom rom coming out soon.....

I pulled in JB this morning, trying to figure out how to get to Google Now.

This may come across as rude, but I was just pointing out the site rules. Development is for things that someone has created not for questions in general. As for it affecting your ROM pending install, I'd like to point out that you installing a ROM is not development.
As for Asus releasing the update, they have released the update ota. This ota does not come to anyone with an unlocked device, and it does not change the fact that the latest released source code/ota available from asus(from the website not ota) is for 9.4.3.30. In my opinion there should not be an expectation of a stock based rom released before asus has released it on their site due to the fact that anyone with an unlocked device doesn't have access to it.

[Q] Where to find (and how to flash) a Google Stock (AOSP) ROM with updates?

Hi,
I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I can't seem to find anything solid on it - and I'm new to the device, and very limited 'experience' flashing my old Wildfire.
What I want is a stock (Google stock, not HTC stock) that is capable of receiving OTA updates as soon as Google releases a new iteration of Android. Essentially like a Nexus device.
I'm not bothered about any other hacky features (for the moment, at least). I just want an AOSP ROM that ideally have OTA updates.
Do the TMOUS ROMs do this?
Also, can someone please briefly explain (or link to a guide - I couldn't find one) how to flash said ROM without adb/AndroidSDK?
Thanks in advance,
PS:
Kernel version: 2.6.35.13-3422292
Baseband version: 10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M
Hello, no such thing at the moment, sensation Roms are still in their infancy and removing sense brings problems, at the minute the closest you will find is the beast rom which is what I use, other then that just wait for cyanogenmod to be released oh and before people start flaming for this being in the wrong section, just remember this is a new user so be nice

Ah, okay, thanks.
So, in general (and therefore one could assume Sensation AOSP ROMs once ou of infancy) do AOSP ROMs allow OTA updating, like as soon as the Nexus devices get them?
Or do the developers of said ROMs still need to tweak them, and there is no bog-standard Google ROM?
The forums are split up into sections there is one called Q and A post further questions there unless your a developer sharing a mod or Rom you more then likely shouldn't create threads here.

pretty much every dev rom has OTA updating disabled, because an OTA update would do things like disable root.
also the only OTA update a sensation would ever receive is an update with Sense, which would be incompatible with whichever AOSP rom you have.
most devs update their roms pretty quickly after an OTA though. unless it is an entirely new android version, which can take some time.

There is no stock Android ROM from Google for the Sensation - any would have to be ported from another device or created from scratch from source. As such, there will never be OTA updates from Google themselves as the ROM would not have come from them

Okay, I didn't think it was possible anyway - just some posts I read led me to believe it was.
Hopefully an AOSP ROM for Sensation will arrive before long that has OTA updates in some capacity outside of ROM Manager.

You're not quite getting it, the sensation will never get an ota update outside of rom manager, unless you're running a stock, non-rooted sense rom.
The *only* devices that will get an aosp ota of any kind outside of rom manager are the nexus devices. There's no way around that.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
Let's put it this way.
Nexus series gets official updates from Google because Google is the one that's 'selling/branding' the devices. Just take Google in this case as yet another manufacturer which provides OTA for its fleet of devices. Like for HTC, it provides OTA updates for our devices with Sense..

These two seem to contradict, what I'm asking is if the update from ROM dev is OTA through settings or whatever, or if it requires a flash and possibly wipe of dalvik cache?
I'm surprised no one has done an AdamG and compiled an AOSP ROM for the Sensation. He did it for the Desire and it was an AWESOME ROM

First quote: talking about making a rom based on an ota from HTC, I.e. behind Google's current release version.
2nd quote: talking about an aosp rom. And no, there isn't a way for us to do an ota update through the settings menu, only through cwm/rom manager.

Miui are weird have are a venture backed group. (They have money). Not sure exactly how they do, but they may have created their own checking app that then downloads a .zip for Yuri specific device, then uses cwm to flash.

Of course there is. Every Dev who has created a ICS will make a JB. Not sure this is worthy of a thread start. Next week things will start rolling in Kernels and Rom's. Just enjoy JB.
Nothing is coming until we have source. This thread only asks a question that even a little bit of logic would make unnecessary. I don't get why anyone would feel the need to ask it, I mean what's their reasoning? Is every kernel dev is sitting on their hands until someone asks if anyone's working on something?

[Solved] Flashing roms based on official ics while staying on leak

Hey guys..sorry if this que seems silly..i love the current version of the ics leak and i dont want to upgrade to the official version when it comes out (because i have to downgrade and upgrade and so lazy for that)..so can i flash roms based on official release while staying on the current leak??

Ok, before the sharks all jump all over, let me say that you ask a good question. The problem is that you are a bit early in asking, and by the time we actually have an official release, your question will probably already be answered by the devs without anyone having to ask. Believe me, most of us that finally jumped to the ICS leak will be wanting to know the same thing...there's just no way to know now...although I seeing how other issues have been worked out I would be willing to bet my mother-in-law that there will eventually be no problem upgrading from the leak to any other ROM based on an official release.
Yeah you will be good to go if you do not install the OTA. We are also working on a way for those on the leak to still install the OTA, it wont be ready on day one, but soon enough after we should have that worked out too.
As far as custom roms based on the OTA, but staying on the leak, you should not have any issues since it is all ICS.

since when was an issue with jellybean or aokp NOT a development discussion i would hardly ask the question in tf300t accesories now would i? So instead of been unhelpfull why dont you go indulge yourself in the forum rules you clearly havnt read them so maybe you should read section 2.1 2.3 and 2.5 of the forum rules i can outline them to you as follows
2.1 Language: XDA is a worldwide community. As a result what is ‘ok’ to say in your part of the world may not be ok in someone else’s part of the world. Please think about who is reading what you write. Keep in mind that what you think of as acceptable use of language may not be acceptable to others. Conversely, while reading member posts, remember that word you find offensive may not be to the writer. Tolerance is a two way street.
2.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.
2.5 Courtesy towards other Members: Treat new members the way you would like to have been treated when you were a new member. You are mistaken. The only way to revert the bootloader back to ICS is with nvflash, and that does not and will never work with the JB bootloader unless Asus or nVidia release it (which they are not going to).
Check out this post in the official CM10 thread.
I've not had one issue with JB OTA, but my Tf300 was updated straight out the box, nothing at all installed on it.
Its now 2 weeks old and I've now unlocked the bootloader and rooted it, install about 50 apps and its still buttery smooth, with no freezes or reboots.

There's always a benefit of root my friend. First and for most is removing bloarware (AT&T preinstalled apps that take up memory and space in background) So many other reasons why root is best. How I describe it to people is like this. Taking a Governor off a car is similar to rooting an android phone. Technically there is only one ROM made from OTA ICS right now here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1960679 but there are others in the development section built of previous ICS "Leaks" we obtained. Such as SCV7, Swifty Trix, CM10, MIUI and a stock based off OTA as well. Hope this helped explain a little. Enjoy the power of the Dark side!

Umm, cm10 is a true opensource rom and not based on any leak/OTA, it is compiled from scratch. The only files taken from ICS are a few libraries and kernel modules and the like, and those have no bearing on version of ICS they were taken from.

I am probably not an ideal tester, due to lack of technical knowledge regarding Android, but should you need a tester of the moderate abilities, and knowledge I would be more than willing to be of help if I actually was help. I currently am running the build of CM10 that is currently available, and am impressed with it, but look forward to your build with much anticipation.

Ok if i use this method to root my atrix 2, can i unroot after that?
And i’ve heard that there are problems that is experienced by other atrix 2 users(superuser versions 3.0.3 and above), how do i fix that?
My atrix 2 is running stock ics from the official OTA , before that it was running 2.3.6 unrooted ,stock.
Thanks in advance for clearing my doubts.

No, and no. No on 2nd system because it still uses the same underlying stock ICS kernel.
If you took the OTA, then you are stuck on ICS. This has been the case with major android releases and not being able to go backward for a very long time.
