Dust under screen, considering replacement :s - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Sooo... I have dust under my screen, and around in my bezel. Anyone have any ideas? I can't get a replacement because of the new firmware. Craaap. Should I take chances?

If you can get a new one.
There's also a chance you may end up with stuck pixel instead of dust though.
I took the chance and ended up with better screen but had to stay with stock for a while due to 1.85 upgrade prior to the hack.

I too have a piece of dust, right under the beats logo. I'm keeping mine since you usually can't see it.

Have a replacement sent out, if it's got worse problems than the one you have or if it comes with 2.20, send it back and tell them to send out another.

Firmware flashing/unlocking has NO relation to dust under the screen. Your warranty is not completely void just because you unlocked it. You are still covered for things like dust under the screen. They cannot refuse to abide by the warranty in this case.

Any way to remove scratches from the screen?

I noticed a very tiny scratch on the edge of my screen, and I was wondering what the best way to remove it would be. Does anyone have any personal success stories?
Sounds like an opportunity to make the situation worse, the only thing I could think of might be something that fills in scratches on eye glasses, I've seen something somewhere for that.

Try best buy. I was there yesterday looking for phone accessories for my sensation and I saw a scratch repair kit for lcd screens. Just ask for it.

Take some vix chest rub and rub a little on the screen then wipe the excess away and it should look somewhat normal

Or you could just apply a screen protector on it. Sometimes it hepls hiding the scratch.

Do NOT under any circumstance use an "LCD Polishing Kit" on a capacitive touch screen. You can literally polish away the capacitive layer on the glass, rendering the screen incapable of detecting a touch. Hide it, or order a new screen online.

Get rid of it by getting a new phone. I'm assuming it's still under warranty.

And you wonder why manufacturers take so long with warranty claims... submitting because you scratched your screen?! LOL

I wouldn't burn my warranty just for that. I'd probably wait until I was about to sell the phone then brick it to get a fresh one.

HTC warranty

I bought mine off Craigslist so I don't have T-Mobile warranty. I have a small crack on the top left of screen. Will htc cover that? Also how easy is it to unroot? And if they send me a different phone will I be able to root it? In case of newer boot loader?

Hi,
Yes ,no matter who owns the phone, the warranty is still valid.
I doubt ,though, that a cracked screen would be covered.
Ring HTC,and see.
Unroot and s-on can be found HERE
Any phone that is currently returned, seems to come back with a 1.29 hboot.
It is getting increasingly more difficult to unroot,s-off etc.
Cheaper faster to YouTube screen replacement do ur self

so does anyone know if HTC covers screen cracks in manufacturers warranty?
Posted by my Inquisitioned Sensation
Why not go to the horse's mouth and ASK HTC?
Is something wrong with going to their website and reading their warranty terms?

[Q] Anyone have a crease in their screen?

So I've had my HOX since it came out on AT&T and noticed this right away but didn't care enough to complain, but curiousity has gotten the best of me and I want to know how many other users have this...
About 1-1.25" down from the top of the screen I have a literal horizontal crease in the glass of my screen. It goes straight across and is really only noticeable when you look at reflections in the glass. You can kinda sorta feel it with your fingers. It doesn't pose any issue except an uber tiny warping effect if you use the screen as a mirror.
I'll post a picture when I get home and try to get a good angle on the screen so it's plainly obvious what I mean.
Edit: Actually...I'm not sure whether it's concave or convex...not that it really matters
None of mine ever had this. Sounds life a material defect.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
Here's the picture. You can see a distortion across the width of the screen.
I've seen similar defects in the international section. Get a replacement.

It doesn't bother me enough to warrant me going and getting a replacement. Like I said, it doesn't affect the actual on-screen image, just the reflection off the surface of the glass.

The reason I'm saying replace it is the integrity of the glass might be compromised and possibly more prone to breakage.
Yeah although it doesn't matter right now it might become a problem in the future. Its best in my opinion just to get a replacement to prevent all that.

Aren't you and metal on your 10th phone? Maybe people should just keep what they got instead of finding defects that arent really problems. OP said he didn't mind.

Sorry but when you pay $600 for a phone, you want it to be perfect and shouldn't have to settle for less. Every device I returned had legitimate hardware defects.
I'll see how I feel in a few days before I make the decision to go get it replaced. I know the concern for breakage later on is perfectly valid, just gotta decide whether it's worth the trouble. I'm super careful with my phones. My old Captivate survived 2 years with nothing but normal wear on the back and 2 cracks on the top where the plastic was real thin (bad Samsung...)

Screen replacement

i just got my screen replacement for my phone and it didnt come with any adhesive, should i see how it feels without the adhesive or just send it in to HTC to fix it
i have been watching a lot of teardowns and they are saying there is no way to replace just the glass, you have to purchase a whole new LCD, but they are selling just screens on ebay so i dont know if it will work

I don't know but by the looks of our hoX..its difficult to separate the glass from the digitizer..i tried it with my friend's HoX and i already tried heating it but it wouldn't separate..
Sent from my HTC One X using XDA
it is extremely difficult if not impossible to separate the glass from the lcd on our screens unfortunately without damaging one or both of the components. Don't get me wrong, I've seen it been done, but it's very risky. I also dont advise using just any adhesive when dealing with our phones. use the suggested 3m adhesive when replacing the lcd+screen, I think its fairly cheap now. I used some crazy glue I bought at the store and it turned out damaging my screen a bit, so a small strip across the screen didn't recognize touch, which was very annoying. Gonna be replacing it again very soon.

Do you think this will cure??

I ordered a replacement screen for my One x and there is ??air pocket??(wet glue maybe) between the digitizer and LCD
What do you think?
Send it back is my thought

Just have HTC do it. Nobody here has been successful any other way that I'm aware of. It's about $220.
