Ok, so you may have seen my post in another thread but it seems according to benchmarks my Infinity is not performing as well as it could. In quadrant, got a max of 4015 usually more like 3600 and that is with 2D GPU Rendering turned off. Antutu was about 9500 I think. Done a cold reset (I think, booted into recovery and rebooted from there) and wondering weather to do a factory reset. Could there be other options?
Performance mode?

do you have 2d hardware acceleration on from the developer settings?

I had the same issue with the stock rom but with Zeus 3.0 it's all good and now in performance mode i get the best score.

Well I might do a factory reset after a cold reboot. Could someone just explain to me again they correct way to do a cold reboot? If that doesn't work then I will be happy to do the Zeus ROM after I am happy that my device is a really could one and won't require a return, should be about a week or two. Until then, it runs pretty well. Also, just wold like to say I am getting random reboots, sometimes turning it on from standby and getting nothing and once just doing something and it reboots. Not sure if that's a hugely common problem, but its certainly affecting me and I wold like some advice.
Thanks,

Turn off; hold 'power' and 'volume down' buttons until white writing appears at the top of the start-up screen; do nothing and wait for the tablet to reboot. If you don't get the white writing, you've done it wrong.
....................
OK, I'll try that. It seems that when I have to restart it after its randomly rebooted I have to hold the power down then press it one more for it to boot.

Yesterday I had to go to the browser on my Transformer, but when I wanted to unlock it I forgot what I wanted to do. So I'm thinking and I'm thinking and I see my Transformer rebooting. I thought it was forzen and it needed a reboot. Sinds then it's stuck on the boot logo(with powered by nvidia tegra underneath it). It keeps rebooting and rebooting but it never get's further than that.
I'm running stock ICS with the latest updates.
Sorry for bad english.
Found the problem just keep the power button for 10 seconds.
Turn it on again.
solution?
You found the problem? What was it?
I had the same problem, I had found a solution but now it is restarting over and over again.
Hard power-off seemed to help, but it continues to do this every hour or so since the update (2 days ago?)
solution?
I'm having the same issue.
I would like to know how to fix this issue other then going back to the factory settings.
Indeed, don't think there's an easy way.
Maybe a root will help.

I see, but neither of the other responders have solved it that way, else I wouldn't be here. But thanks for reminding.
The XDA-rules clearly indicate that we should look for a topic that is related.
I had the reboots also. I did a factory reset that stopped them for a few days then they started again. I disabled the Asus settings in the menu and have gone four days with no reset. Then I reset the screenshot check and forgot to uncheck it after the shot. The first time it slept it rebooted. I think the problem is in the Asus settings.
I had also reboots when the tablet goes into deep sleep / standby. I wipe all datas and switch to various roms. Then i found the app "wake lock" thats prevents that cpu goes into idle mode. The reboots disappear After activeating this app in mode PARTIAL_WAKE_LOCK .
Got my Infinity yesterday - loving it so far. I was worried after all the negativity on the forums over the last few weeks, but I couldn't be happier.
My one issue is with the brightness of the screen. I know some people have taken issue with the auto-dimming feature. I have the complete opposite problem - I can't adjust the brightness of my screen! Moving from balanced to power saving to performance makes no difference. Turning on Super IPS? No difference.
Am I doing something bone-headed? Anyone else have this problem?

Grateful for any additional thoughts people might have.

Your issue more than likely will not be solved on the forums anytime soon. Amazon is very good at exchanging defective items usually shipping it the next day. Your stressing over this to much, and you don't have to. It cost you nothing to exchange the tablet.

Just wanted to let you know I'm having the same problem. I've tried a factory restore as well still no brightness control. Thing that sucks is I returned my prime for a screen defect, now I get a faulty infinity. I'm beginning to question asus quality at this point and starting to think about perhaps getting a Google nexus 7 even with its limitations.

Either way, defects will happen. Send it to back and Amazon will make it right -- it's worth the two days. I've had none of the problems that people are describing with their Infinitys

Hey guys, recently got the JB update on my tf300t and was disappointed that the graphics stutter in n64oid, and frame-rate is sometimes syrupy in fpse. also, i just got gta3 and the framerate there feels like about 10 when driving quick ( changing from eco mode to balanced and performance doesnt seem to change anything)
I guess my question is : Is this a common problem? and is there a way of fixing it without going to ICS (don't get me wrong, i see no benefit to JB so far as offline voice is bad at recognizing me atleast - i just dont want the hassle)
also, after the update i did the cold boot, and have tried clearing dalvik cache - for whatever that's worth. I didnt do factory reset
GTA3 works fine for me on JB. Stock and unrooted

did you factory reset after you updated?,
oddly enough passmark seems to show a score on par with what i would expect, im close to whats on the website at 1950 in balanced mode
Yeah, i did do a factory reset after updating
These are the default settings:
Brightness 50%
Draw distance: 80%
Screen Resolution: 75%
Visual effects: high
And everything below is set to on.
I tried putting it on max settings which did cause more lag but nothing as bad as 10Fps. The vehicle handling did seem much more floatier, almost like the flying cars cheat was on although it isn't. It's strange.

Hey there,
Just curious if anyone else sees this problem? And if there's a known reason or fix? Pretty much like the topic name says.... sometimes tapping the clock just does nothing, no matter how deliberately I tap or hold it. I know it isn't hardware because when I rotate into the other other orientation, that portion of the screen that was just the clock now responds fine to touch. A reboot will fix. Thoughts?
EDIT: Should have mentioned - bone stock, unrooted, locked etc. Havent gotten up to any tinkering with this thing, too many bad hardware reports to invalidate warranty lol. Though my hardware seems good so far...
Thanks...

I prefer the ASUS quick setting to stock Android notification, but I don't think I have any problem with them. Have you try cold booting your tablet? Shut down and press power+volume down?
I know you said it's not hardware, yet that sounds like a digitizer problem.
I get this from time to time - I even got it once last night, after flashing CleanRom 2.3... which was a little disappointing.
I've found that if I get a notification of some kind - say, an email being received - it clears this bug and I can then tap on the clock to bring up the quick settings menu and it will work fine from then on. It's only after a reboot that the bug reappears, but then not every time.

Yes. I get the issue since I believe JB update. One work around that worked for me is open setting from setting icon, which I have on one of home menu. Some how after that it works again. So I agree it is definitely not related to hardware.
Hi,
Yes, this happens randomly with my tablet too. Likewise, only since JB.
As noted above a notification does seem to make the issue go away. I have tried all sorts to find the cause but always come up blank. Rebooting also removes the problem.

I had this issue with JB. It was annoying as hell. Went back to ICS because of this and the "black flickering lines" problem. I already posted about this, but maybe it was on TF and not here... It's a bug in JB...
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF700T using Tapatalk HD
I suffer from this as well.
Yeah, notifications seem to fix it. Glad I'm not the only one... I guess. Really is annoying as hell to not have quick access to brightness settings and stuff. Funny, I didn't know the cold boot required the volume button trick, I thought just a normal shut down / restart did that. Thanks for the tip, I'll do it regularly lol.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Sorry all, but I don't have this issue on my rooted, locked .18 JB. It works very well indeed.
I also have this problem. The only way I can fixitisjust a shutdownand restart. Can be annoying.
Same here... Started after the JB update... One quick fix for me is to plug in my ear-buds and the QSP pops up.. If you don't want to carry around your ear-buds, if you have a pair that you don't use anymore or a damaged pair, you can cut the tip off and carry it around in your case/cover..

Thanks! I've been lurking in the forums waiting for this. I'm just divided as to whether I should wait and see how it goes for others, or just download the update and see for myself. Not because I'm afraid of bricking (locked & unrooted here) but because 4.2 did have some issues initially on other platforms...

I don't think you should be fearing that much about bricking your device. There are a few unlucky people brick their devices every time there's an update.
I wouldn't flash the update on an unlocked device. That is how some TF300 users bricked their devices. Wait for Asus to put up the full rom.
I'm just going to wait. Mainly because a lot of apps aren't 4.2 optimized yet. I'm not afraid of bricking since i'm full stock, but I always have bad luck with updates of all sort.

The TF300 had a lot of bricks. Maybe that's why they did away with it? Could that have been t cause?

How is the 4.2 running compares to 4.1? faster, smoother, no change??
I've noticed the "recent apps" function has changed. Instead of a vertical row on the left side of the tablet, you now get a full screen, horizontal look, of your recent apps. Will take some time getting use too.
On the cold boot screen. I believe you now how to manually start the cold boot (by highlighting the android icon) then pressing up on your volume key.
Lastly, I get an annoying warning about my sound being dangerous if to high, when I try to raise the volume. Anyway to disable that?

I got a notice that the system update was downloading, I waited then got a screen that said do I want to install, I tapped "install" and the screen said "Powering Off". Its been off for about 20 minutes and won't restart.
Any thoughts?
On edit,
Now its restarted and it's downloading the system update file again.
Its doing the same thing, checked system integrity and then powering off but this time it looks like 4.2 is installing.
One minor thing I've noticed is that the inexpensive 3rd party charger I bought off Amazon now no longer registers as charging (although my 3rd party battery app does, indeed, show that the unit is charging). That's an annoyance, albeit minor.
Unless the new tablet version is extremely different than the phone version, Asus is no longer using the stock camera app. So no photosphere.
Also, no quick camera access from the lock screen, not that I'm using the tablet often to take quick pictures.
