Best setup for gaming? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I'm currently running on Sky-ICS and noticed some games are lagging, such as Modern Combat 3. I've been trying to play with the sixaxis controller but its so laggy its unplayable. I'm looking to get the best gaming experience overall out of my phone, does anyone have any tips/advice. I was thinking of over-clocking but I'm not sure how effective it is. Any input would be appreciated.

Go aosp, tw is bloated, cm9 wit an over clock kernel should do ya

Also this needs to be in q&a and possibly shouldn't exist I'm gonna report it and let mods move or close as they see fit

Have you tried chain fire 3d app ? Its in play store

SkyICS Dragon base is a lightning-quick ROM, and the Cymbaline kernel makes up in performance what it lacks in battery life. I'd wager that combination is as good of one as you'll find for gaming.

This is good ^^^
Or u can run any cm9 rom with instigatorx kernel version 5.4.5 and use smart ass governor. Over clock to 1.8, and with the included gpu over clock at kernel level, ur golden

CM9 + 1.7 GHz OC + chain fire
Battery will suck but you can play games very well and don't forget to download the addons in chain fire because that's what makes them work extra good. Also check for game specific configuration files, I know games like GTA have them where you can squeeze just a tad more performance out.

Cymbaline kernel because it has gpu overclock.

Best kernel for 3D gaming?

Anyone have any suggestions for the best kernel that runs 3D games smoothly? Mainly gameloft games
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
If I had to guess, it would be Imoseyon's leanKernel 1.92X.
None. No kernel will speed up the GPU from what it runs stock.
Gameloft games run fine for me. You having problems?
I really dont think Kernel will do anything for gaming. Kernel's just control the cpu speeds and more geared for improving the battery. Anything over 1.4ghz has shown to be pointless on the thunderbolt according to the tests. I haven't had any problem with any of the games even at 1ghz.
I was using 1.92x leankernel except i noticed that some apps wud sort of lag more than my other kernel
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
i use either drodspeed or adrynalyne. But your best shot is to test around with different kernels and see which runs best on your device

Play GTA III with less lag

Hi everyone this thread is made to tell you how to play GTA III with less lag first at all you must be on gingerbread on bml with Antox latest kernel ( I have tested on: Valhalla Black, Barebone, SCOM and ICBIN and it give the same result, except Valhalla Black and SCOM that it seems to be more faster )
Now you must go to setcpu and overclocked with max. 1400mhz and min. 1400mhz, and put the governor in ondemand and I/O scheduler in deadline, then go to the governors settings and chance the up threshold to 80 ( I know I know that these settings arent "baterry friendly" lol but its just when you are playing games like GTA III)
And finally go to the GTA 3 app and in settings, display put the settings as the attachment and... voilĂ  you have the fastest non supported gta in all the wild west! (if you have any problems pm me)
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED!!!
Have you tried chainfire3d and play with texture and size?

Yeah i have already tried out and the app doesnt starts (idk why that happens)
Not trying to bring your contribution down but seems kind of harsh to have to OC to 1.4 just to play GTA

Gta is a butch to run. I seen somebody post about it not running smooth on a dual core, I think it was the evo v.

I would try playing with chainfire settings and I wouldn't over clock past 1300mhz.

Try using different settings in the chainfire3d opengl settings. Reduce texture size, unroll texture, and reduce texture size. Play with those 3 options hopefully 1 will work for you. There is a post in the that is posted with different video plugins for different THD games.

Thanks for the info I'll tried the others video drivers tomorrow (I only have the nvidia game driver and it doesn't work)

Nah I don't play GTA and my everyday phone comes clocked at 1.5

OK anyway thanks for the tip, I will see if i play with the build.pro tomorrow and see if I can get more performance without having to sacrifice the battery life
Thanks for the tip. I got gta3 to run smoothly with these settings with voltage control on firestorm rom.

Also I got gta3 to run just fine on ICS Paranoid Hybrid Rom. The kernel it has will not oc. The only thing with that is you would need to turn off your auto sync and free up some memory. Also turn down the graphics settings to about somewhere in the teens like 15% is a good starting point.

SGS3 verizon gaming performance

Did anyone play 3d games like frontline commando? I need to know if it is just me, I have slow performance issues on this game sometimes. YES it depends on the amount of enemies, but even so it baffles me to see it go visibly sluggish as I play. I dislike playing it less than 60 fps, and though I can believe it won't reach that all the time, I want to know if it is true that it can't play in a consistent 60 fps.
Gonna try will let you know in a bit

Thanks for your finds guys, I'm glad to find out that it does play very smooth. I am at stock rom on the verizon sgs3, I was going to jump the bandwagon of the international sgs3 owners, since its gpu is better. But I was wondering if adreno 225 gpu can hold itself for games like frontlinecommando, it has to be 60 fps all the time. SO you guys aren't running stock? Or have a lot of apps running in the background? I had it with many apps running, took all off except that game and it did improve the performance, but it still did go a bit laggy sometimes.
What are the best games out for the s3 graphics wise?
Batman,mc3, mass effect, shadowgun, asphalt 7.dead trigger.those games are great graphics, no lag, I'm on Verizon stock.

[Q] Real Racing 3 on Desire S?

Hi everyone. I'm a noob.
I was wondering if it was possible to make my HTC Desire S running PACman v20.0.1 ROM able to run Real Racing 3. It doesn't appear in the play store and online it says incompatible. Please reply
Thanks.
I would normally tell you to use market unlocker app, but it doesn't work anymore, so the only thing left would be warez try looking on the net for an apk... I'm playing rr3 on my DS overclocked to 1.7ghz but it's still leggy. Laggy but playable

lower the oc to 1k-1.2k, high oc is known to cause lag in some games.

Real Racing 3 was available on 28th February. I downloaded it, installed, noticed that it was laggy on my ROM. I've changed the ROM and it wasn't available. Since then I've tried some other ROMs and also incompatible. Installed with the .apk file and I'm now playing it(although it's lagging, especially after hacking and buying all cars )
Reaper V4.0 is probably the most stable rom available. Gaming performance proves to be much better on this rom, so you might want to give it a try.

Maybe the game performance would be great on it, but it's on GB. I have flashed the Desire XS and the performance of Real Racing 3 is even better, than on CM and PACman with overclocked CPU. But thanks anyway for your advice!

Your call. Something to remember is that many things affect gaming performance including governors and I/O schedulers. Also, you might want to try using V6 Supercharger script (link is in my sig) and GameBooster 2
Haven't got a chance a chance to try GameBooster 2 yet but judging from the responses in the play store, it seems to work well.

How to overclock

Hi guys i can someone tell me if can overclock?
Just tell what to do...I want to overclock it to play heavy games like mc4 and nova without much lag
I have the rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629307
-___- It's simple. Download any of apps like those for example; AnyCPU, No-Frills CPU Control and Voltage Control. But the problem is actually in GPU service; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191468 but you must have both root and CWM recovery (CWMR is to back up your firmware and user data).
EDIT: With this GPU tweak and GPU video tweaks in build.prop, Minecraft is pretty smooth.

thanks!!! i already did the gpu tweaks from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2191468
now i'm going to install the apps you said but if i change kernel won't i have better results?
but i don't know what kernel to use...
I hope i was clear i'm portuguese
Of course u need to flash a kernel that supports over clocking. And then use set cpu to tweak

Can you recommend me one ?
For the starter, if you are on the CyanogenMod 10 Jelly Beans port and its derivatives, iodak kernel for one. At full throttle, it roars by at 1.3 GHz but you may try undervolt it a bit (due to CPU heats) - mine's at 1.25 V at 1.3 GHz so go for 1.275 V for better chance.

I'm on stock gingerbread...any advices?
Ah, I see. I will look - even though the development on Gingerbread ROM have slowed down a bit.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23629242 - even though this kernel is discontinued, it's good. I used this one before I decided to ditch Gingerbread for Jelly Beans (due to better VSync service required by some games but I personally think you will do fine with Gingerbread though. And note this kernel's maximum CPU frequency support - 1.4 GHz.)
