Hi everyone this thread is made to tell you how to play GTA III with less lag first at all you must be on gingerbread on bml with Antox latest kernel ( I have tested on: Valhalla Black, Barebone, SCOM and ICBIN and it give the same result, except Valhalla Black and SCOM that it seems to be more faster )
Now you must go to setcpu and overclocked with max. 1400mhz and min. 1400mhz, and put the governor in ondemand and I/O scheduler in deadline, then go to the governors settings and chance the up threshold to 80 ( I know I know that these settings arent "baterry friendly" lol but its just when you are playing games like GTA III)
And finally go to the GTA 3 app and in settings, display put the settings as the attachment and... voilĂ you have the fastest non supported gta in all the wild west! (if you have any problems pm me)
HIT THANKS IF I HELPED!!!
Have you tried chainfire3d and play with texture and size?

Yeah i have already tried out and the app doesnt starts (idk why that happens)
Not trying to bring your contribution down but seems kind of harsh to have to OC to 1.4 just to play GTA

Gta is a butch to run. I seen somebody post about it not running smooth on a dual core, I think it was the evo v.

I would try playing with chainfire settings and I wouldn't over clock past 1300mhz.

Try using different settings in the chainfire3d opengl settings. Reduce texture size, unroll texture, and reduce texture size. Play with those 3 options hopefully 1 will work for you. There is a post in the that is posted with different video plugins for different THD games.

Don't worry man if you want, try to play with the chainfire 3d app and use the settings I attached to the thread

Thanks for the info I'll tried the others video drivers tomorrow (I only have the nvidia game driver and it doesn't work)

OK anyway thanks for the tip, I will see if i play with the build.pro tomorrow and see if I can get more performance without having to sacrifice the battery life
Thanks for the tip. I got gta3 to run smoothly with these settings with voltage control on firestorm rom.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using XDA
Also I got gta3 to run just fine on ICS Paranoid Hybrid Rom. The kernel it has will not oc. The only thing with that is you would need to turn off your auto sync and free up some memory. Also turn down the graphics settings to about somewhere in the teens like 15% is a good starting point.

Hey,
So i was running quadrant on my friends phone the other day (Xpera X10 ,adreno 200 GPU ).So you all know the planet test right . Our device
scores like 10fps .The xperia x10 was doing like 45 fps .
So now the fix is here.
Go to /system/lib/egl
There you will find a file called libGlES_android.so.
Just move that file from that folder to another place.
Best thing is to create a backup folder inside that place.
Now run the quadrant test you should see much higher fps in the last 2 tests.
1-2 fps increase is there in the first 2 tests
Explanation
It turns out the quadrant standard was using a feature of OpenGL which was not properly supported or implmented in the PowerVR drivers
So it was using software rendering(i.e the CPU instead of the GPU).
Have fun
It can work for other games maybe i dont know.
If you any of you find that it affects other Games post here i will update the list
List of Affected Games/Benchmarks
1>Quadrant - Planets/DNA Test
2>Roboto Game.
3>sygic
4> Raging Thunder
5> Asphalt 6 adrenaline
7>NOVA
9>Fruit Ninja
and Many more
People are seeing an increase in performance in 3d Apps in general
Thanks and Regards,
Gana
Awesome! I was thinking along the exact same lines, but I thought that it was a fsp capping limit, since the fps was very consistent in some of the tests! Good to know that it is not a device-wide limitation and that it is just software rendering instead of hardware rendering. I know a 1-2 fps increase seems insignificant, but that starts me thinking about what other limitations may have been placed, or improper instructions used.
Will try it out and see what happens!
Thanks again!
lol i get 60 fps now.testing several times for best score will post soon.
well no score improvement still getting 2450 max witch is confusing since number of fps in 6 times higher.
will try this asap
Awesome!!! I did this and my phone is getting a lot more of fsp in Quadrant.
I will test some games...
Thanks!!!

really great fix! thanks dude , and i confirm graphic boost in games as well, i had this game called Roboto, before it used to lag alot but now runs really smooth!
Quadrant fps increased, but score does not. Fruit Ninja works fine and so is Raging Thunder 2. Texture is fine in planet run, used to have clipping issue.

ROM : Stock nordic ICS
Kernel : ardadat 4.1
Others : CPU Master Free : 1.32 GHz @ interactive/sio (sample rate 30000/maxspeedload 80)
Most games run much smoother (like 60 FPS as opposed to 30 FPS on GB, are they vsynced as on pc/consoles ?) but have random stuttering (complete pause for 1-2 seconds then resume). Most noticeably on games like the Temple Runs. Any fix ?
It's weird, because the first game i played on ics was NOVA 3 and it runs flawlessly. But i recently bought "Granny Smith" and i have the same problems as you (i thought it was the game).
Is there any program i can run to record the processes on background? (how they catch the cpu). Maybe we can get what is causing the problem that way.

Shouldn't we be playing a tegra optimised game without even a single lag/freeze..?
Imo ics of galaxy r is fully not ready for gaming....

If you are asking about about CPU Governors, check this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1856256
I found a solution for me, PvsZ stops and go each 10 seconds, now everything is ok . We use to configure SetCpu with "sio" scheduler but when I change it to "noop" the stuttering disappears. For me doesn't matter what governor you use, only, scheduler affect to it. Try it. I'm using Ardatdat beta4.
Ive upgraded to the S3 gave my son my ns4g. He plays games on it and it keeps freezing up. Running rasbean. With matrix. Tried CM10 stable too.
Any suggestions on a rom and kernel?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It is subjective to the game you (your son) are trying to play. Apart from that, check the CPU frequencies and use a bit of overclocked frequency. Also, try to shift the Governor
He played them on his evo4g I guess ill switch it back to that.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
try jellyshot rom with marmite kernel.you probably won't have any issues for games destinated for nexus s.i play gameloft games with severe demands and have no lags or forced closures.
Like others said previously, a little overclock can go a long way. Just be careful not to overdo it!
So yesterday i was researching about gamelags on STOCK ICS.
I found out this solution somewhere.
Initially i did not flash ardatdat's kernel
but
after doing this plus flashing ardatdats kernal lags have like vanished.
So just do this thing
1.Go to settings---> developer options and check 'Force GPU Rendering' and restart your phone.
2. Use Ardatdats kernel v4.2 beta 6 *HIGHLY Recommended*
Games tried :
1. Temple Run Brave (15 minutes of play..No lag)
2. World Cricket Championship (10 over game..no lag)
3. Farming Simulator
4. Plants vs. Zombies
5. Stick Cricket
6. Stick Tennis
7. Temple Run 2
8. Race, Stunt, Fight 2
9. Drag Racing 3D
10. Fruit Ninja
Hope it helps

+1 for this. Didn't try games, but it's good to have this option always set to on. Increases overall performance.
I tried gaming on stock ICS.
Did try unofficial JB on our phone. But then vibration problems.
Actually some nexus version had an ICS lag in scrolling and gaming.
So someone posted it as an answer.
I tried it for gamelags of our device and it worked.
(Obviously the nexus solution did not have include the ardatdats kernel part )
@adam sir: please help us with the vibration problem in Pacrom

On ardatdat kernel use setcpu app to set both the cpu freq's to max(equivalent to performance governor). Then try a game...eg temple run...no lags.
But remember when u select performance then top level of clock will work and hence battery backup goes down.
@deep: buddy its my pleasure if i would suggest or make u understand the thing and become part of ur few moments.

Well if you know how to use SetCpu go ahead it will completely resolve the issue. (Never tried as i am not comfortable..but our senior members do recommend using it )
But if youre still not comfortable with the stutters we have to live with it till official JB arrives (maybe..on samsungs mercy :'( ) :sigh:
Atleast the frequency of the lags seems to go less.
My games even stuttered with PacRom :'( (stick cricket did )

I was wondering if it was possible to make my HTC Desire S running PACman v20.0.1 ROM able to run Real Racing 3. It doesn't appear in the play store and online it says incompatible. Please reply
Thanks.
I would normally tell you to use market unlocker app, but it doesn't work anymore, so the only thing left would be warez try looking on the net for an apk... I'm playing rr3 on my DS overclocked to 1.7ghz but it's still leggy. Laggy but playable

Real Racing 3 was available on 28th February. I downloaded it, installed, noticed that it was laggy on my ROM. I've changed the ROM and it wasn't available. Since then I've tried some other ROMs and also incompatible. Installed with the .apk file and I'm now playing it(although it's lagging, especially after hacking and buying all cars )
Reaper V4.0 is probably the most stable rom available. Gaming performance proves to be much better on this rom, so you might want to give it a try.

Maybe the game performance would be great on it, but it's on GB. I have flashed the Desire XS and the performance of Real Racing 3 is even better, than on CM and PACman with overclocked CPU. But thanks anyway for your advice!

Your call. Something to remember is that many things affect gaming performance including governors and I/O schedulers. Also, you might want to try using V6 Supercharger script (link is in my sig) and GameBooster 2
Haven't got a chance a chance to try GameBooster 2 yet but judging from the responses in the play store, it seems to work well.
