Hi guys i can someone tell me if can overclock?
Just tell what to do...I want to overclock it to play heavy games like mc4 and nova without much lag
I have the rom from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1629307
-___- It's simple. Download any of apps like those for example; AnyCPU, No-Frills CPU Control and Voltage Control. But the problem is actually in GPU service; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191468 but you must have both root and CWM recovery (CWMR is to back up your firmware and user data).
EDIT: With this GPU tweak and GPU video tweaks in build.prop, Minecraft is pretty smooth.

thanks!!! i already did the gpu tweaks from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2191468
now i'm going to install the apps you said but if i change kernel won't i have better results?
but i don't know what kernel to use...
I hope i was clear i'm portuguese
Of course u need to flash a kernel that supports over clocking. And then use set cpu to tweak

Can you recommend me one ?
For the starter, if you are on the CyanogenMod 10 Jelly Beans port and its derivatives, iodak kernel for one. At full throttle, it roars by at 1.3 GHz but you may try undervolt it a bit (due to CPU heats) - mine's at 1.25 V at 1.3 GHz so go for 1.275 V for better chance.

I'm on stock gingerbread...any advices?
Ah, I see. I will look - even though the development on Gingerbread ROM have slowed down a bit.
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23629242 - even though this kernel is discontinued, it's good. I used this one before I decided to ditch Gingerbread for Jelly Beans (due to better VSync service required by some games but I personally think you will do fine with Gingerbread though. And note this kernel's maximum CPU frequency support - 1.4 GHz.)

Thanks !!!!You helped me alot i installed it so far so good

What do you think is the best OC/UV app ? If so can you also post the recommendations ? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!
There's been thousands of posts, not sure of threads, in the forum regarding this.
Tegrak OC seems to be the most popular though. Most tend to stay away from SetCPU.
I personally never OC or UV. I find that my speed and battery life are perfectly acceptable.
Yeah tegrak seems to be what everyone uses. I stay away from OCing though because i don't really see the purpose of OCing just for browsing the web, text messaging, Facebook, twitter, and YouTube. The phones really smooth already. I'm probably going to UV though to get a little better battery life.

You can't oc with set CPU without an overclock kernel
sent from my real Gs move in silence like lasagna
Tegrak Ultimate since it allows OC/UV with a kernel module as opposed to requiring a OC/UV kernel.

For this phone tegrak is the best with the most control paid version is well worth it
at first this phone relied on overclocking but months later it is no longer needed imo, i just stay at 1000 mhz stock with undervolting and my phone feels as smooth as a 1.2 thank you gingerbread lol

I use tegraq (paid) version to UC.. everything is so smooth now, the UC gives battery life and my quadscore is still in the 2500 range.
TegraK
Hi,
I'm interested only in UV, since my phone is super fast with Valhalla 1.1 ROM
and Adrenaline Shot X, but i drain my battery every day!
can you please explain -
1. can i undervolt using the free edition of tegrak ?
2. do i need to replace the kernel or can i work with tegrak app out of the box?
i didn't get that.
Thanks !
Well I just downloaded Taegrak ultimate, but it seems like my values will never stay ! I tried setting my CPU Lv 0 to 1000,1165,1055 but it'll always revert back to normal. Sometimes I'll catch a glimpse of "Targrak has unexpectedly.."
tegrak has now support ics kernel..
Now we can oc/ov cpu n gpu.
Get it from here
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tegrak.overclock&hl=en
update: for people that using the free version please set the max to 1.5ghz only as some cpu cant handle 1.6ghz with 1.3uv.
for people that purchase the paid version make sure u set up the uv also..
here one example
200-500-800-1200-1400-1600ghz
900-950-1000-1200-1300-1400mv
I set the frequency to 1.5 and my Note went to reboot almost the same minute I am on Kingdroid 1.5

the max that i can try right now is 1.45 only..
might buy the app and try to check the max i can get..
will update later..
it worked with me at 1.6......but it gets very hot......like annoying hot:S
i tried 1.4 but with graphix lock to 265......too hot too:S
Are there directions for it. The last time I used I had a tough time figuring it out. The testing after reboot and all, I was never sure if it applied my settings or not after a reboot. SetCPU is just easier for me to understand, not saying its better. Thankfully the rom I was using had an overclock and undervolting script in /etc/init so I just modified those.
Sweet! Nice to have until some custom kernels come along...
i'm at 1600 with 1300mv stable. thanks for the update, tried this saturday and it wasnt supported.
I am interested at the GPU overclock more than CPU, tried 400MHz stock voltage, crashed in hard reboot, now testing in 300MHz with stock voltage.
---------- Post added at 07:31 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:02 AM ----------
Too bad, I tried:
GPU 300/400MHz, stock voltage, +.25 voltage.
All pass the test but crash in some GFX drawing, example the new G+ stream UI scrolling...
May need to wait some newer version..
this version works great. if you are crashing it is due to you being overclocked too high, or not enough voltage.
i'm working on some great OC settings, as well as UV settings.
Overclock to 1.5 no heat Or reboot for now
Rom. Kingdroid 2.0
Kernel. Franco R3

Im running criskelo v8 and this will not work at all for me....I try to load the OC module and it says its not supported? so i click the link and it FC on me
On the free version I load the module set CPU to 1.5 and bam my phone crashes!!!
As ive been looking arround there is hard to find an app for best oc/uv performance.
I used setcpu for sometime but it kinda slows down whole system. Is it only me or this is common issue? I get much better everyday performance with no-frills
Ok so im currently using nofrills, but it doesnt offer undervolting which id like to achieve.
Anybody knows any alternative for it?
Im using arhd 3.4 with guevors 21.4 kernel
Thank u guys for ur help!
i use Voltage Control
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...ontrol&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDNd
I believe nstools is included in the build. If its not you can get that from the market and I believe it does the UV settings.

I'm using Antutu CPU Master Free from the Market.
I'm that this has been brought up before but could someone tell me how overclocking the GPU is done? It seems to me that the CPU is the most stable and is fine at 1200 MHz and going any higher is just a battery killer. But the GPU seems like it's severely underclocked. (or at the very least could do with some OCing )
Are there any apps that support it on the Charge or some tutorials that can show me where I can experiment with some numbers. I know my bro's Galaxy Nexus kernel has GPU overclocking built into it.
Feel free to give me bad news but if there is any hope i'm up to some leg work and phone sacrificing. lol.
It requires kernel support. PBJ overclocks the GPU some, but it isn't customizable. Beyond that, there isn't a way on the Charge.
Sent from my SCH-I510 using Tapatalk 2
GPU OCing from a UI isn't possible on this device-AFAIK its only possible on the GSII (maybe the nexus). The PBJ kernel OCs it a bit, but imnuts wants to ensure stability vs raw speed.

Hello,everyone....recently I overclock my desire s and thanks to many of you I received many useful information so I want to share impression how overclocking has improved performance and battery to help other like us to know what and how to use overclocking and governor....
So I start ....
I use Viper saga with tweaked kernel 3.x/ondemand with deadline/cpu min.245-max.1410
I noticed that my graphic is very good and everything works like a charm....for example in FIFA12 I noticed that even the shadow of all player are so intense and everything is so clear,it seems that improves my graphic and my phone is faster..I hope that overclocking to 1410 to not damaged my phone. So what configuration do you have ?

Set the governor to performance. Battery eater though. But u only can choose better battery life or smoother graphics, so make up ur mind and choose one
When playing with overclocking unstick 'set on boot'. So that it goes back to normal once reboot in case of any freeze. Overclock it based on ur desired value, experiment with it, slowly. increase the value step by step. Leave it for a day then increase again. If it freezes then u know ur phone's limit.

i have read that people say it's stable up to 1.5 GHz.
I have set mine to 1.3GHz to be on the safe side.
And set it to,on demand,so it only takes up more when it needs to.
setting it up to high speeds can result in a melt down, draining batteries and will shorten out the life of your phone even when stable for a couple of days so be aware of what your doing...
there is no best value for everyone, some say 1ghz is enough, some say 1.5 ghz is not enough.
so it depends on what you need, its a trial and error thing
u will get a fast response phone but battery life is sucs ... cant complain though
LOL? :what: how many threads must u made to ask a question? answer can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2092673:D
why not just continue on your thread?

What kernel you have?

Never a good idea to overclock CPU more than 1.5 GHZ . That is the maximum stable frequency for our processor.
I use my phone at 1.2 GHZ.

What is the best application for overclock?
for example when I play a game to switch automatically to my desire frequency and governor? Now I have Cpu master but unfortunately i don't have more option for profile ....and is it possible to set frequency to 1300Mhz ?

If you want separate screen on/screen off profiles, I would recommend daemon controller app (with andrev_oc installed through the app).
If you want more profiles for different situations, setcpu is probably the only real option.
Setting to 1.3 GHz depends on the kernel you're using, not on the app.

I think the stable is 1,2~1,3GHz, but u can overclock it up to 1,5ghz but it eats your battery... so be careful!
