Hard Bricked Samsung Infuse 4G (Will not turn on) - Samsung Infuse 4G

I failed using Odin to unroot my samsung infuse. My phone now cannot be turned on. When I press the Up+Down Volume and Power Button the phone gives a quick white flash then goes black. It just would not turn on.
I've also tried pulling out the battery and press the Up+Down Volume and Power Button again. Still nothing.
Is my phone completely done for or is there still something to be done? Can anyone help me? T_T

Remember you can't press the power button to enter download mode, just vol+ & vol- and plug in the usb. I suspect you are not able to enter download mode anyways..
You may try using the one-click-unbrick (google it) and see if it by any chance helps you.

Don't jump the gun...there's been cases where I was able to use heimdal even though my screen displayed nothing...
And have you tried a USB jig?
Personally I think its still saveable...unless it was a failed bootloader flash its pretty much impossible to hardbrick the infuse with Odin...and most odins don't include bootloaders...

hi there...
i dont know what is wrong with my phone.i can only manage it to get in downloading mode,i does not even start up. i tried using odin, it detected the phone for first time but process was struck at 'factory rs' for two hours!
then i removed it nd tried again but next time onward odin failed to detect it. after this failure i tried using heimdall but wen i tried to put the 'firmware' file in firmware place, it gives the error 'header contains invalid file size' after decompressing process is done.
-i can get the phone in download mode only
-phone does not start
-odin can not detect it
- even tried 'soft unbrick', phone was not detected.
ther is no problem with phone drivers
please help me!!!

What exactly do you mean by "put the firmware file in firmware place"? You just have to right-click on the .JAR file and open with Java. Once the Heimdall screen pops up, there's nothing else to be done, aside from clicking "Flash".

Really does sound like you are in Heimdall front end. Follow what ApexPredatorBoids said and just double click on the jar file. Next screen you should be able to click the long flash bar.

no i didnt to anything, i havent extracted the .jar file. actually i have copied those file(heimdall and stock .jar file on my pendrive) what i have done till now is
1.i downloaded heimdall from a given link
2. then i downloaded the stock .jar file (which is 207mb as shown on site)
3. as i was told,i downloaded the latest java setup and installed it.
4. then i tried to open stock .jar file with java ...
remaining story you know... black command window... comes and disappears ...

Extract the files from the pen drive to a folder on your desktop. Then double click the jar file with the phone connected to USB (preferably NOT the USB ports in the front of the PC.

I believe the Stock...jar should be part of the Heimdall package that you downloaded. Extract all of it to a folder on your desktop.

This is what I did and worked perfectly. But I allready had KD1 which I recomend you get. Download the recovery and update.zip and put both of them on the root of your sd card. Then get root explorer from the market. Open root explorer and go down to sdcard. In the sd card you are gonna find the recovery file you placed in there. Your long press it and its gomma say copy. Copy that and press back button and then your at the main page of root explorer again. Its gonna say paste and cancle at.the bottom but dont press anything yet. You go all the way down to system and go into it and then into /bin. In /bin your gonna press the mount r~w button at the top right which allows you to paste the file. You press paste at bottom left and its gonna ask if you want to overwrite say yes.(if it didnt ask you overwrite that either means the file you downloaded was renamed.or there was a (2) or (3) on it if you downloaded various times. Just take the ending out so its.just.recovery)
Now back out to homescreen of your phone.and if you have kd1 you can get into recovery from quickboot if not then turn off your phone and hold powerbutton and both volume keys while the phones turning on normally it will go to a bluish screen with an android.(recovery) here you click reinstall packages and your done

Your extensions might be hidden then.
Try this:
-open win explorer
-press the alt key, go to tools then folder options
-navigate to the view tab, and make sure the "Hide extensions of known filetypes" (something like that) selection is UN-TICKED.
Once done, all you have to do is rename it without the .md5 tail and you're good

Help with custom ROM flashing

After searching on this forum for a few hours, I am still unable to figure out what is wrong with my phone.
On my Galaxy S 4G, I have rooted it, and then I proceeded to the flashing guide here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1122508
But after I install CWM, I am unable to install a custom ROM. I am able to get to the Red CWM, but when I try to backup my current ROM, or install from SD card, it says that it cannot mount E:/blah blah blah
How should I fix this error?
I tried going to Mounts and Storage in CWM, and the sdcard is "mount".
I am really confused, so if anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it
That blah blah blah its actually important. What can't mount? If sd is mounted, then it should say "unmount"...

Ok, so it's the red "CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v3.0.2.8x"
I go down to install zip from sdcard > Choose zip from sdcard > Select blackice_voodoo.zip
Then, it says on the bottom in white words
"CwM Voodoo Lagfix Recovery v3.0.2.8x
--Installing: /sdcard/BlackIce_Voodoo.zip
Finding update package...
E:Can't mount /sdcard/BlackIce_Voodoo.zip
Installation aborted"
Now, when I tried to use the Backup function, it tells me
"Can't mount /sdcard"
I went to Mounts and Storage menu, and selected the "-mount /sdcard" and it gave me "Error mounting /sdcard!"
Is there any more information you need to help me?

Right now, my CWM mounts are as listed:
-Unmount /cache
-mount /data
-mount /sdcard
-unmount /system
So yes, it is in that order. I read something about
Code:
A) For KD1 and Bionix Frost your mounts must appear like this:
/cache : unmount
/data : mount
/sdcard : mount
/system : unmount
B) For Trigger your mounts must appear like this:
/cache : unmount
/data : unmount
/sdcard : mount
/system : unmount
I got this on Ebay and I had no clue what the seller did to it, but I think it's the original Froyo.
Firmware: 2.2.1
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9
Build number: FROYO.VUVKD1
So you are on 2.2. I would back up the sd card. Then format it by plugging it directly into the computer, formatting. then putting it back into the phone boot into cwm. Formatting it again. Placing the files you want on the root. Trying again. let me know

Oh, after I got CWM working, I went into the Rommanager app, and flashed from SD card, and I chose BlackIce_Voodoo.rar and it got stuck on the "Galaxy S exclusively for T-mobile" screen. I understand that after flashing a rom, it takes around 10 mins on that screen, but I have waited overnight, and it still has not booted. Now, I can't even boot into CWM anymore. How should I handle this situation? The whole phone is bricked, and CWM is not accessible anymore.
I also tried turning it off, holding volume up & down, and plugging the wire in to enter download mode, but it failed to do that. So I guess I can't use odin either.
Please, Don't use ROM Manager on this phone.
I'm not sure how to solve this if it can boot to the splashscreen but not get to download mode.

Try using plugging it in and look at Odin again. I heard it can recognize devices sometimes even if the screen is blank.
Edit: If you get your phone up and running again, use the Gingerbread Starter Pack guide to flash a GB ROM without any problems.

Try downloading the Android SDK, install it, when you run it the first time, only download the platfoem tools. Once that's installed, open a command prompt, CD to where the platform-tools directory is located.(prob C:\Program Files\Android\Android-sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Android\Android-sdk\platform-tools) and type:
Adb reboot download
Or
Adb reboot recovery
For download mode & recovery mode, respectively.

AH! Well, you don't flash the rar file!
You unzip it and flash it's contents
Some rom modders use rar, others use 7zip (because they usually have limited space to store their mods, compress it good!)
I dislike Odin, as it is proprietary and has no support and few updates.
I prefer Heimdall, as it is free, has support, and updates often.
Hope that helps.

Edit: I just read about there being an "Audiophile" ROM for the T959V. Since I care about my music quality, I decided to get that.
I downloaded a zip called "redux 1.3.2.zip" from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195878&highlight=Audiophile
And I am clueless to how to flash a zip file :\
I tried extracting the files, and I am still clueless to how to flash those files/folders.

Your UNrar program... Guessing winrar, unrar'd the rar file and contained a zip file, that you thought was a folder.
You flash that zip file from cwm.

Well, first, turn off the phone and charge it so you don't loose battery.
Second, never install another recovery on top of an existing one without knowing what you are doing - ask first.. (You get into the built-in recovery on that cm10.1 by tapping the volume down button at the end of the red moto logo when the lights come on).
Next, you could possibly fix your system with adb and switching some files.. but that would take a lot of explaining if you are not familiar with it.. plus, you might not get adb recognized during the bootloop.
So, you need to use the FXZ files for your phone/region... Or, just flash the system.img only.. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=41436876&postcount=1106 - and see the link linked there.
EDIT: If you can get adb recognized, you might be able to just run these few lines to fix things from the command prompt:
Code:
adb shell
su
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm /system/bin/hijack
sh /system/bin/finalize_release
exit

I am very confused at what you want to do. That link is only to root your device. But, if you are bootlooping, you need to replace your system.img.
You should download the entire SBF/FXZ zip file for your device/region/firmware. Then unzip it into a folder on your computer (best if it's close to C:\ with spaces in the path). Are you using a Windows OS on your computer?
Then, grab the restore-to-ics_win-batch.zip AND the restore-ics-system-only.bat.txt (remove the .txt extension) attached in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36834775&postcount=108
Mix those files in with the big FXZ files that you just unzipped. Then run the .bat file to flash the system.img only. If that doesn't work, then open the other .bat file (use Notepadd++ or similar), check that everything that is being flashed is actually in your folder and has the same name... and flash the entire FXZ. If none of that helped, then you probably flashed the wrong files to your phone.
Just flashing the system.img only is probably the safest.. Because if it's wrong, you can just flash another one. The other files in the FXZ package can mess up your phone if they are not for your specific device.
EDIT: If you still did not flash anything else, you could try to use adb... Get that restore-to-ics_win-batch.zip that I linked above.. Unzip it to your desktop. Power on your phone so it bootloops and connect with USB. Open a command prompt on the restore-to-ics_win-batch folder by holding down shift and right-click. Then type adb devices - if it returns a number with the word "device" (not the word "offline"), then you can try to use those adb codes I posted in my previous post. Otherwisem you need to use fastboot and flash fxz or system only.

Unzip the sbf/fxz - all the files in a single folder, on your desktop or in the root of your C:\ drive (like C:\ InlineFlashing_Edison_XX-XX-XX_CFC_P3_APBP.xml - where that is the name of the folder)
Then put the .bat file and other files from my restore_to_ics zip and the restore_system_only .bat in that same folder.
Then, connect with USB while in AP fastboot mode, see if it says "OK to program", then double-click the restore-ics-system-only.bat

Sorry to intrude with my following off-topic statement, but that was a lot of detailing you did there altered. xD Great job and it'll serve well to assist others who need the same solution.
Now on-topic;
Yes it's okay to root with any of the ICS root methods available.

[E] Changed FPS

Hi!
I changed boot animation logo with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.boot.animations
and I try to run it more smoothly with changing FPS. Before I confirmed change from 20 to 60 fps I get a warning says that in some cases boot animation won't work beceuse of that, but now my whole screen doesn't work. It's all black. App changed some .txt file but I can't remember what it was. Can someone help me to revert FPS to previus state pls.
I tried to sent email to developer but they didn't answered.
Which ROM are you using? Which firmware version?
You need to flash the ROM again (in case of a custom ROM), or flash an FTF file (in case of a stock ROM). Wiping data isn't needed for custom ROMs as long as you're using the same one; flashing an FTF will automatically wipe data.
The file you're looking for is desc.text.
Open up the bootanimaton.zip in /system/media (do it on a PC, not your phone)
In the zip, look for desc.txt , open it, and change he third number in the first line of the file to whatever FPS you want.
Save it, and close it. (It should get automatically updated in the zip if you didn't close the archive)
That's it!

I managed to open phone storage on PC but in system I only have PIM folder with contacts in it.
Okay... do you have CWM? It might negate the need to flash an FTF.
If you don't, see this guide for how to flash an FTF: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054486 The FTF you need is this one: http://www.mediafire.com/download/psav7wq4yywz7xo/11.3.A.0.47.ftf

Errrrr....let me rephrase.
The /system folder cannot be accessed by connecting your phone to your PC.
What I meant was, (on your phone)copy the boot animation.zip to your sdcard (or internal sdcard) and then open it up on your PC.

Wait, what??
You changed something in the boot animation, and now the entire display doesn't light up? Even though the boot is successful?
That's strange. In that case, if what I mentioned is the cause, you have a way to procure the zip through adb.
Connect the phone to your PC, open up a terminal window/cmd and type
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip
The zip should end up on your hard drive in the folder where you started the terminal.
NB:This requires you to have adb drivers installed(or use tools like Minimal ADB and Fastboot), and have USB Debugging ticked in Settings>Developer Options

I did this using Minimal ADB tool, changed value to default, save it, close it and update zip. Now, my phone won't even start, red light is blinking.
EDIT: I repeat process again and when I open desc.text value is still on 60, is there something I didn't do first time? I opened that file with winrar, changed value and save. This second time I didn't change value, and red light isn't blinking any more. Is 30 FPS default for my phone?
Can I somehow delete bootanimation app so it wont read setting from it?

Does flashmode work??? Otherwise you managed to hard brick your device...
Flashmode can be accessed by putting a micro-USB in the computer, hold the volume down button on the phone, and insert the other part of the micro-USB cable in the phone.
If a green LED appears(the notification LED), nothing to worry. If not, well, things get more serious.
Try this!
