[E] Changed FPS - Sony Xperia Miro, Tipo (Dual), J, E

Hi!
I changed boot animation logo with this app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jrummy.apps.boot.animations
and I try to run it more smoothly with changing FPS. Before I confirmed change from 20 to 60 fps I get a warning says that in some cases boot animation won't work beceuse of that, but now my whole screen doesn't work. It's all black. App changed some .txt file but I can't remember what it was. Can someone help me to revert FPS to previus state pls.
I tried to sent email to developer but they didn't answered.

Which ROM are you using? Which firmware version?
You need to flash the ROM again (in case of a custom ROM), or flash an FTF file (in case of a stock ROM). Wiping data isn't needed for custom ROMs as long as you're using the same one; flashing an FTF will automatically wipe data.

The file you're looking for is desc.text.
Open up the bootanimaton.zip in /system/media (do it on a PC, not your phone)
In the zip, look for desc.txt , open it, and change he third number in the first line of the file to whatever FPS you want.
Save it, and close it. (It should get automatically updated in the zip if you didn't close the archive)
That's it!

I managed to open phone storage on PC but in system I only have PIM folder with contacts in it.

Okay... do you have CWM? It might negate the need to flash an FTF.
If you don't, see this guide for how to flash an FTF: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054486 The FTF you need is this one: http://www.mediafire.com/download/psav7wq4yywz7xo/11.3.A.0.47.ftf

Errrrr....let me rephrase.
The /system folder cannot be accessed by connecting your phone to your PC.
What I meant was, (on your phone)copy the boot animation.zip to your sdcard (or internal sdcard) and then open it up on your PC.

Wait, what??
You changed something in the boot animation, and now the entire display doesn't light up? Even though the boot is successful?
That's strange. In that case, if what I mentioned is the cause, you have a way to procure the zip through adb.
Connect the phone to your PC, open up a terminal window/cmd and type
Code:
adb pull /system/media/bootanimation.zip
The zip should end up on your hard drive in the folder where you started the terminal.
NB:This requires you to have adb drivers installed(or use tools like Minimal ADB and Fastboot), and have USB Debugging ticked in Settings>Developer Options

I did this using Minimal ADB tool, changed value to default, save it, close it and update zip. Now, my phone won't even start, red light is blinking.
EDIT: I repeat process again and when I open desc.text value is still on 60, is there something I didn't do first time? I opened that file with winrar, changed value and save. This second time I didn't change value, and red light isn't blinking any more. Is 30 FPS default for my phone?
Can I somehow delete bootanimation app so it wont read setting from it?

Does flashmode work??? Otherwise you managed to hard brick your device...
Flashmode can be accessed by putting a micro-USB in the computer, hold the volume down button on the phone, and insert the other part of the micro-USB cable in the phone.
If a green LED appears(the notification LED), nothing to worry. If not, well, things get more serious.
Try this!

I have one more problem. I downloaded that FTF file but I can't find it listed in Flashtool, even when I copied it in default locaition into Flashtool folder.

Where can i get the Stock Asia One S S3 boot.img ?

Hi,
I tried the trickdroid ROM but i dont see any benefits, instead there are downsides, like wifi disconnecting and so on. I would like to go back to the original Stock ROM but i do not have the boot.img and nandroid does not back it up along with my backup. Without it, my wifi does not work.
Where can i get this boot.img, or can someone give it here? Thanks!

You can try this stock. by the way , I'm using Trickdroid V1.0,I do not have WiFi problem at all.You have to manually flash the boot img using fastboot.
i have strange problems where my 3g or wifi will stop connecting on TD. Even if i go to airplane mode it does not recover. I have to reboot phone. But last time i did not do a backup of my boot.img.. thats why i need it now
Is it possible that i just get the boot.img instead of downloading the whole giant file? thanks!

RUU file is a install script setup launcher where you can install onto your window then connect your phone to usb , execute this file , then follow the instruction on the screen . I do not have the boot img.

Possible to extract only the boot.img but not without downloading the whole big file.
Open the .exe and make sure that it fully started.
Don't click anything, just go to windows icon and search for %temp%.
You will now find some folders, just search through these folders for the ROM.zip.
If you found it, you can copy it to your desktop or somewhere else.
Extract it with WinRar,7-zip or something like that and take the boot_signed.img.
Now copy the two files into the folder where the fastboot.exe is placed (if you have installed the Android SDK, it should be in platform-tools)
Plug in your One S, go into the bootloader and go into fastboot mode.
Navigate with the cmd in the folder with the fasboot.exe and the two .img's.
Now type in that:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
-----------------
This was copied from a thread in One X made by Setsuna666 and pasted there from user: torxx (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609190), but applies for any RUU file extraction. It is not from me, but this method works.

Then use the normal restore to restore everything to your phone. Sometimes just restoring /system under advanced doesn't work.
This will be easier than flashtool, which will completely wipe your phone.

Just use cwm to restore a back up to your phone. Use the bog standard restore, not the advanced one. If you use flashtool to flash an ftf, it is almost the same as factory resetting your phone and you will have to start from scratch. The only issue you might have with cwm is if the back up you are trying to restore was made with a kernel from a different version of Android or was made with a different version of CWM. In this case, just flash the correct kernel using fastboot and then restore.
If you have a flashable zip of the ROM you were MODding you can either reflash the whole ROM (just wipe cache and dalvik cache). Or if you are feeling adventurous, you can also pull out the framework files you need from the zip and then push it onto your device. Use 7zip (or equivalent) to copy the file you need (framework-res.apk for example) from the zip to someplace on your PC. Since it sounds like your recovery is working, you will probably need to boot into recovery and mount /system, then use something like android commander or adb to push that file onto your device. Make sure it ends up in the right place (probably /system/framework) and then set the permissions to rw-r--r-- and reboot. Android Commander makes this super easy. You can do this on the whole /framework folder but you need to set the permissions to the folder to rwxr-xr-x and then the permissions to every file inside the folder to rw-r--r--.

Sorry, but I was under the impression that you had a working version of CWM. AFAIK there is no way to convert your nandroid back ups to something you can write with fastboot or flashmode. If your backups end with .tar then you should be able to use something like 7zip, winrar, iceows, etc to pull out the files that you need from the back up. I would open the archive with your archive viewer and then copy what you need to your computer. Then use adb to push the files into /system/framework or where ever they need to go. If you already have flashtool, you can use the adb that lives in ../flashtool/x10flasher_lib. Look around for the shell commands to mount /system, set permissions, etc that you will need.

Can you tell me if your bootloader is unlocked, what ROM and kernel you were using, exactly which file in /framework you were messing with, and what happened to your CWM recovery, for example, it would be good to know if you can still boot into recovery and exactly what error you get when trying to restore your nandroid back up. Also, is the back up for the same ROM or a different ROM?

It looks like nobody knows what is going on with your issue because you don't give us any information what you did or error messages...
Let me try to help you but I can not guarantee if you can your device up running. So please answer these questions.
1. How did you load the stock firmware and what was the error message before aborting the installation?
2. Can you still access to your bootloader by pressing the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time for more than 10 second until you see the 3 icons of your bootloader menu?
3. Did you try to re-download the stock firmware with a right SKU for your device because it may be corrupted for the first download?
4. Do you have any important files that you like to save before proceeding?
5. Do you have an external microSD so you can put all files there for the device to read?
I need to know those answers in order to find a solution for your problem.....
I was getting an lying down android with error and exclamation, but that was because I renamed the firmware the wrong way, once I renamed it properly, it goes thru the install blue bar, then restarts 2 times and then a white screen,,nothing else...I cant shut it down..so it drains the battery and dies

Whew. I was afraid you may have flashed the wrong firmware, but it looks ok.
You did rename it to EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip?
It may have been just a bad flash...
I initially thought your screen might have died, but if you can get to the bootloader menu and into RCK, it should be ok.
I would try a fresh download, unzip that file once and rename the resulting zip as stated above.
Copy it to your microSD, insert it and enter recovery (RCK) again.

You have to make sure that file extensions are showing in Windows Explorer. The name of the file has to be EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip. If Windows adds file extensions automatically you might end up with EP201_768_SDUPDATE.zip.zip.
You don't want that.
I renamed it exactly as you described using the .zip at the end...windows explorer didn't add another zip to it,,and I went back to the android lying down with error....do the zip at the end made it worse

If you extract the zip and don't see the .zip at the end of the extracted file, then you don't have the file extension enable on your PC.... So you don't have to put the .zip at the end of the rename, good luck...:fingers-crossed:
@berndblb
It looks like the installation was sucessed after he/she renamed the file... So his/her data may be corrupted, guessing... So the only solution that I have is to Wipe the data from bootloader menu if no one opposes this idea... I have done it at least 4 or 5 times in the past without any problem.. If so, yes that is where the problem came from. If you PUSH data TO your device via recovery (not single files but folders) It screws permissions. There is a zip to fix it which I can link to, if you can confirm that is what you did.

is a sdcard fix permissions script (flashable zip)
Of course if you can't write to sdcard, you'll either need to adb push / MTP via recovery or using a root explorer, set all permissions to read, write for /data/media/0/Download
That's exactly what I did sir, so I reflashed everything, now (of course) everything is running like a champion, appreciate the info, won't be making that mistake again

Yeah, MTP and ADB via recovery are fine if you need to get a backup on there to restore or some zips to flash, but as soon as you start pushing actual folders, permissions screw up.
Choice is to go through setup wizard and then use Android MTP or push that zip too and flash every time.
Thanks for the info, won't be making that mistake again Lol, side not lollipop is snappy and responsive as all hell

[Q] Boot animation freeze

So I changed the boot animation to something different. The animation is so heavy the phone lags halfway in between and now my phone can't even get past the boot animation screen. It's stuck at the boot animation. Anyway to revert this?
Download the default boot animation from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/themes-apps/bootanimation-nexus-5-animations-t2789918
Scroll down a bit and you'll find the default Lollipop animation. Download the zip which is supposed to be manually installed.
Put it in system/media/bootanimation.zip
You can use Aroma File Manager for this. AromaFM is a flashable zip which brings up a file manager in your recovery

If you're using TWRP as a recovery you can access your storage. It does support MTP.
Yeah, the file manager has to be flashed just like a ROM.

The phone is rooted and the boot-loader is unlocked.
Bootloader unlocked. So where's the problem?
Download latest TWRP and execute
fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
to flash it.
Or simply
fastboot boot twrp.img
to launch it once. You don't even need to flash it.

AYEEEEE!!! I see where you're going with this now. I think I get it now. I'll try tonight or maybe in a couple of hours and then I'll come back if any problems. Once finished I'll let you know with a thanks
By the way: After copying the new (default lollipop) bootanimation.zip to /system/media do a 'fix permissions' in TWRP. Not quite sure if the option is available in TWRP but if it is, just do it. It won't do any harm
Alright I flashed TWRP and it's working but the file manager kinda sucks. I mean it's picking up the files and their aren't any options to copy and paste. The boot animation is stored in /system/media and when I go into the system folder all I see is "bin" and nothing else. I don't understand what's the problem
Man, the file manager does not suck. A little more respect to the developer! You should be thankful, not disrespectful!
Enable hidden files in the file manager and you'll see them. And it also does provide copy/paste functionality. I've used it several times.
EDIT: If you still don't see them after enabling hidden files you have to mount the system partition.

I searched everywhere and I don't see an option to enable hidden files. How did you enable hidden files?
It's in the lower right corner if I remember correctly. Three dots which will bring up a menu.

What version of TWRP are you using? I don't see three dots anywhere. The bottom always has a back button on the right, a button to launch terminal in the center and a home button on the left
Dude. It has nothing to do with TWRP version at all. You didn't even launch Aroma File Manager... that's the point.
Read my previous posts again, take your time & don't double post (there's an option to edit if you have to).

Sorry for being impatient.
Do I flash Aroma the same way I flashed TWRP? If so will this cause any problems or anything? TWRP can't install Aroma from SD because my computer won't even pick up my phone
If you're in TWRP, connect your phone to your computer. It should be detected just like any Android phone since it's also using MTP.
Aroma File Manager has to be flashed in TWRP (install zip). That's why you had to flash TWRP in the first place.

Better yet as soon as I connected my phone to my PC, TWRP's file manager started working. I deleted the corrupted bootanimation.zip that made my phone lag in the first place. However it keeps failing to move the other bootanimation.zip into /system/media (I backed up the stock boot in /system/media by renaming it
EDIT: Never-mind I got it. I renamed the file from 0bootanimation.zip to "android" and then to bootanimation.zip
I restarted my phone and it's just stuck in the boot loop. The animation is occurring forever and nevermind it just started.
Thank you experience7!!! Massive vouch for you man. You saved me so much trouble. Much love from me =D
As said before... TWRP uses MTP to enable file transfer between your computer and your phone. However, you'll only see your internal storage (pictures, videos and stuff like that) - not the system partition. That's why you should use Aroma File Manager! It lets you access the system partition directly on the phone and provides everything you need (copy/paste/delete and so on).
I have no idea what file you actually deleted. But I'm pretty sure it was not the one in /system/media.

And that's the most weird part of all...
1) TWRP file manager started working as soon as I connected my phone to my PC. I didn't need to flash AromaFM. TWRP worked like a charm
2) I deleted the laggy bootanimation.zip and replaced it with the stock one I backed up. I backed up the stock animation by renaming it to a different file. However TWRP always failed to rename the stock animation to bootanimation.zip. So I renamed it entirely different (to android) and then back to bootanimation.zip and it worked like a charm.
Does that make sense now? I don't know what the hell just happened but I ain't complaining
