which radio for UK Three network - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi,
My radio is messed up. I have really bad reception in London with my (formerly ATT) Skyrocket
Using Sean's SKY-ICS mod and maybe someone else uses SR in London's Three network and can advise on which radio I can use. I tried them all but can't get a certain answer
I did a search on the forums but couldn't find anyone using Three in London
Thanks in advance

I have very poor 3G reception in Hong Kong too but 2G is okay. The received 3G signal is about 5-10 dbm lower than my Nexus. I have tried most of the radios on various forums but still couldn't solve the problem.
:crying::crying::crying:

Get the rogers radio UXCLF3 and use the *#2263# command. In there choose specific frequency and check your reception until you find a proper one. Sometimes the skyrocket frequency handling is a bit messed up. If you can't find a good frequency just try each of the radios in Seanz's thread and you still can't manage to get a proper signal you can try going to Hercules forums and try their modems.

[Q] Skyrocket in Europe?

Does anybody know or experienced if an unlocked Skyrocket works on European cell carriers with data and voice?
Our 3g here in Belgium is on 2100 mhz and I seen that the Skyrocket has the 2100 mhz radio, but heard it only works if you have an AT&T sim.
Thanks in advance.
Got my SkyRocket (AT&T, unlocked version) and it works flawlessly in Belgium, Germany, France and the Netherlands so far. No problems at all connecting to voice, voice mail, data on Edge, 3G and HSPA+. GPS and Google Maps works great. Very nice phone!!
Good to know. I have a customer her that wants to use his over there. Now I just have to help him unlock it

Flash or use Odin and install the Rogers stock radio(XKJ7), it works best for me here. More dependable when it comes to locking onto cell signals and less battery is used when it's searching for data networks. I'm also running Jugg v4.1 from the Tmobile dev forums. It's based off of Rogers as well with no CIQ. Also faux kernel from Tmobile for extreme smoothness and lag free phone use.
Just throwing this out there and hope it helps somebody along the line. I travel mostly between Germany, The Netherlands, France, Luxemburg and live in Belgium. This setup has proven to work flawless for me. Bluetooth in my truck as I travel, wifi as needed, data network the entire time I travel and I always have cell signal. While on the road traveling my battery can last anywhere between 18-22 hours
Is it no problem about agps fast fix issue?

Hi
Do you mean that you flash the T989 rom to our T727 phone ?
Hi Guys, I am planning to buy this phone, I am from Mexico and before I make the purchase I have a few questions and since I have been around with the HD2 for about a year now, I don't know anything related this one.
- Is there as much development for this specific model as the vanilla S2 one?
- I saw in a sticky thread that there is a way to unlock a S2 with an app, is it possible with this model?
- Since I will be using it in Mexico (Telcel carrier, GSM) I won't receive the ICS update right? but I guess I will be able to root it and then upgrade it following a guide in the Android development subforum?
- Does anyone tested the MHL (HDMI adapter) with this specific model or at least with the vanilla S2? How is it working so far?
- What are your thoughts overall about this phone?
Thanks guys, I posted this as a thread with no luck but I would like to know your opinion

Yes the hardware is the same, it also works in reverse. It's an I727 not T
i think this phone will work pretty much anywhere in this world as long as there's umts. I think it has 850,1900,2100 and also i believe it works on 1700 too.
Although we don't have that many development compare to internation s2, we still have some great development ongoing here.
for the ICS update, you can just flash it from here as long as it arrives.
Also you can flash the tmobile version rom to our phone too.
I'm using the Skyrocket fine in Sydney, Australia.
My 3G frequency is also 2100 MHz. We don't have LTE here yet but the HSPA+ speeds are amazing on this phone. On my old HD2 I was averaging about 3.5 Mbps. On the Skyrocket my average is about 7-8 Mbps with my highest test being 12.77 Mbps.
Not sure what the "agps fast fix issue" is but I've had no issues with the GPS. I'm using GPS Status to download the data file. My average lock speeds are between 5-7 seconds.
The only complaint I have about the phone is the whine/hissing sound I get from the audio at low volume when playing music. Other than that I'm loving the new phone: the impressive responsiveness, faster than ADSL2+ data speeds, very bright screen I can use outside in the sun and the sexy white case with the 'HID' back lit capacitive keys.
All the rom for i727 or T989 all work with i727 . The best radio is : T989UVKL1 .
BTW , compare to my all Samsung GAlaxy S2 i9100 , the i9100 have better singal .
I think skyrocket does not match our korea 2100 mHz network.
Data disconnection often appear, poor signal bar, can't establish call in some area.(like bed room)
I also flashed i727r, T989, T989D radio, but all problems are same.
So i decided my phone changed to T989 hercules.
Is it a good idea?

I'd like to ask, specially PARADOGZ and TREATCON, if any of you perfomed a special procedure to make the phone work on 3G or 3G+. I live in Brazil and bought a I727R(Rogers). My carrier name is CLARO and it works on 2100Mhz... everything is working fine (phone call, wi-fi, 2G) except that I don't 3G .... 2G is very very slow.
when i go to phone status i get a variation between UMTS and HSPA and the symbol on the screen actually says I'm on 4G (3G or 3G+ on brazilian saying) but...of course this is not real....data goes lower than 50kbps... believe.... i'm not mistaken.... only 50kbps....
something is definetely wrong.. please help !!

T-mobile HTC sensation signal problems

I need help, I'm already desperate...
Got a T-mobile HTC sensation, it was already unlocked for other carriers but no S-off or unlocked bootloader.
I got an S-off, unlocked the bootloader, changed CID, flashed Android Revolution HD 6.7.2, but I have HORRIBLE signal reception. So I found that update file in the header which said "- HTC Sensation 4G (U.S. T-Mobile PG5810000 | T-MOB010) users can flash this for better signal and data speeds!" I installed it... NO IMPROVEMENT, my last hope is flash a different radio. Anybody knows what's the problem and how to fix it?
configs right now
different carrier sim (not t-mobile)
S-off, unlocked loader
HBOOT: 1.27.11111
Radio: Radio_11.76A.3504.00P_11.24A.3504.31_M
cid changed to 1111111
firmware: 3.33
ROM right now: is the XE version with beats (tried 1.2.2 too, no change)
Kernel: faux
EDIT: just found out that my wifi is not working either, tried the boot.img fix, didn't help. I get Wifi for a brief second and if I managed to connect it will stay for a while, but if I don't no wifi after that.

yes I have tried 2-3 kernels, including Bricked.
and I have changed 7-8 different radios/firmwares
P.S. fixed wifi with WiFix, at least this 2 issues are not connected
Greetings. I'm taking a stab at asking my question here because it seems sort of related.
I'm a T-mobile USA customer with a brand new SIM card in my Sensation 4g that I bought a few months ago.
My bootloader is unlocked, I'm S-off, I've flashed the custom firmware (version: 3.32.401.3) that was recommended for those flashing the Cyanogenmod 9 ROM. I'm currently using the most recent STABLE Cyanogenmod 9 ROM (not 9.1, but the STABLE 9 ROM). I'm using the stock Cyanogenmod 9 kernel (the one that came with the ROM: 3.0.26-g7290c7f). I never bothered to flash a new radio, not sure if that's a mistake or not.
My reception is good but it seems rather obvious that my phone is completely unable to hook up to or unaware of the 4g network. When downloading, the icon in the taskbar always shows either "3g" or "H" and when I check the "Status" in "About Phone" my "Mobile Network Type" is always listed as UMTS:3 or HSDPA:9.
Can anyone make any suggestions for how I might begin the trouble shooting process to remedy this issue. Thank you in advance for any sage like advice you might provide, I'm pretty lost here.

H is good. It means you are on an HSDPA network. That's 4G for the purposes of this conversation (though what really constitutes 4G is a little more involved)
HSDPA:9 might just be the best speeds that are available in your area. For instance 8 is the best I can get at my house. No amount of better phones will fix that. It's just what's available from the tower.

That's helpful thank you. One last question in the interest of clarification. Should I find myself in an HSPA+ reception area, should I expect the information over the reception bars to change from 3g to 4g and would "Mobile Network Type" then reflect HSPA+ as opposed to HSDPA 9?
Just curious so I might know what to look for when crossing into better network areas.
Thanks again for the tip.
The H means 4g technically. You can update your radio and ril very easily. Will find links and edit post

Thanks for the link. I guess what I was wondering is whether or not I actually need to update my radio, I'd feel a lot more confident in my reception if I ever saw HSPA+ listed in my phone's "Mobile Network Type", but I never do. I had previously thought that HSDPA was 3G, but maybe I'm missing something.
Thanks for the link, flashing a new radio is something I had been giving consideration, I'm just wondering how user friendly the process is. Like picking a needle out of a haystack, or is there someway to narrow down what radio/ril combo is best for one's phone/network.
I'll read through the thread for the link you posted and update my progress here later. Thanks for the info.

your data connection will still say 3G, unless you start to use the data then it will automatically switch to 4G/H (saves battery this way)
HTC made a fault with the Sensation with building the antennas into the back case (hand over the back of the phone = small loss of reception)
Theres a program called getRIL in the play store. You can update your radio and ril as long as your root. Which i assume u are. I do it thep old fasion way though.

Do custom ROMs allow for 42mbps?

Do custom ROMs limit the HSPA speed of our phone? Is there some network check where if you're not running on T-Mobile's ROM, you won't be able to access the full speed HSPA+ 42mbps network?
rom won't affect that
have seen a lot of posts with folks getting plus 20mb in the 42mb areas--wish I lived in one--
Do you think the buil.prop settings have anything to do with it?
I remember getting 15mbps a few months back from my home, now the fastest I can get is around 5 :/
sounds like something changed, what do you get in other areas compared to before
some roms don't do as well as others with some folks. but, I never had a rom make that kind of difference.
don't know about buildprop--I doubt it
try the last rom you were on with good speeds. also, maybe the latest radio
I haven't been able to get high speeds like that anywhere really.
What I've noticed is that since switching from the stock ROM, my indicator switches frequently from "H" to "3G". It'll switch back and fourth every 5-10 seconds when I'm using data. This happens with CM9 and CM10 and the modified Sense ROM that I'm running now. I live in an area with excellent 4G coverage and I don't understand why this switching is occurring now when it wasn't back on the stock ROM (and I know the stock ROM had separate indicators for 4G/H and 3G). It doesn't make any sense to me.
the switching is common for a lot of people and is addressed on several threads
if your hboot is under .13 you can flash a newer radio
gotta call it a nite

I like my phone switching to edge when HSPA signal is weak because then I still get service and it doesn't kill my battery life. I don't think this would matter because 3G and 4G are on the same bands :/ Which is why I don't understand why it switches....

[Q] Flashing T-Mobile radio onto at&t skyrocket

I have a rooted and unlocked at&t skyrocket on jellybean 4.1.2 with very slow speeds, so I tried flashing the radios UCMC1 and UXUMA7 through cwm and nothing has changed. After messing with the APN settings a little my data is no longer working. It shows the bars but I can't get a connection. I have broken my back googling and searching forums on this matter but I can't seem to figure this out.
I just flashed the radio UVLI1 in the hopes that I wouldn't have to post this but now my bars are gone and have been replaced with a slashed circle. Any help please?
Edit: I flashed back to UCMC1 with the bars showing but still no data. Also, I just realized this should be in the Q&A but don't know how to delete the thread so I could post there instead.
1st , Welcome to xda
2nd , it is good that you're aware that it's the wrong place to ask , it should be in the Q and A section here :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1401
3rd , you have to know what T-Mobile is using in your area ,
If LTE is rolled out , UCMC1 should work perfectly fine , since stock Skyrocket radios use 1700/2100 AWS bands for LTE (use this apn : fast.t-mobile.com)
If not , try one of the those radios :
Blaze 4G
Hercules T989
Or Galaxy Note T-Mobile (not so sure about this one) ...
Use this apn : epc.t-mobile.com
Search for those radio zips and make sure they are Jelly Bean compatible radio , or else they will not work with stock Skyrocket JB rom ... Always be careful when messing with radio , it can corrupt your device IMEI and/or brick it , make sure the radio you use is safe when used with Skyrocket..
Hope that helps...
And by the way , there are tons of infos on the stikies you should look at here

Thanks for the suggested radios. And apologies for that double post in the Q&A, I thought this thread would be locked/deleted because of the sticky in this section.
I figured out that changing the APN type was what caused me to lose the edge data, because I had changed it from default, supl, mms to internet + mms since I had seen that in another thread. Changing it back restored the edge.
By the way, I had obtained the aforementioned radios from here.

I also tried flashing the UVMB1 Blaze radio from http://goo.im/devs/Void_Dweller/T769-UVMB1_modem.zip and I'm still on edge. Am I missing something here? Thanks again.
Set a new APN as :
Name : T-Mobile
APN : epc.t-mobile.com
Leave everything else and hit menu, save.
Select this APN
And you didn't answer about what service T-Mobile is providing in your area... If UCMC1,I757MUGMC3 or blaze radios didn't get you to at least 3G speeds then you have a problem somewhere else...

I did as you said with the APN but it seems l do not get any connection at all despite the bars being present, so I have to have the APN type at the bottom as default, supl, mms for the data to work.
I checked T-Mobile's website and it looks like I'm in the area with 2G with some spotty "satisfactory" signal strength areas. I would think that even with 2G that I'd get more than 0.04 Mbps download and 0.03 Mbps upload according to the speedtest app. Is there nothing I can do?
Asking somebody who's using T-Mobile in your area (a neighbor or a colleague) is better than just relying on the T-Mobile coverage map... And if you're sure that your area only gets 2G , use the stock JB UCMC1 radio and live happily with the 0.04 mb down you're getting... I would look to another carrier in such a case...

Ok, my only concern is that when I do change to another carrier in the future, would I experience slower data or data problems since I've already flashed a different radio? Would I have to flash back to the original one? I'm looking at this radio here for the original: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20157930
Thanks.
Man that's very basic stuff of course you can always flash whatever you want, including radios...
Having the skyrocket you're ofcourse limited to the 2 gsm networks in the states, T-Mobile or att (and their mvno's like Straighttalk, red pocket or such)... If T-Mobile is not good around you ,you have no choice other than at&t and in such a case flash the latest stock radio at that moment.. Now it's the ucmc1.. Use this link

[RADIO][UCMC1] For I727/I727R [09-APR-2013]
You're lucky not to be flamed for those basic questions, but be careful next time, there are really awful members around here who have no basic attitude or respect what so ever....
OP, i noticed that going into the carrier settings and manually choosing at&t instead of automatic has fixed this for me using a t-mobile straight talk connection....see if it works for you
I am using the at&t skyrocket on tmobile as well and find the samsung note modem to work the best leaving the apn settings alone.
T879UVLG3
Also make sure you check data roaming.

Try flashing T879UVLG3, it worked well for me on my i727.

SGH-T727 has no high speed data!? Help please?

Hello. This may be a redundent problem and question thats been asked many times im sure. My in advance apoligies for I am new to this whole rooting and reprogramming with modified os andriod systems. I have a problem and if anyone can help or guide me in the proper directions, I would so greatly appreciate it. Let me first share what I have and what my issue is. Then any info you mau have I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
I have a att version samsung galaxy s2 Sgh-t727 skyrocket. I have factory unlocked it to use with my current local carrier Cincinnati Bell. It works with cin bell just fine in making calls. However, at best the internet is only E or G. I do have all apn settings correct. I think the problem is in the radio frequency there is a difference between the 2 service providers on thier technology way of connecting to 3 and 4g. Cinbell uses umts, wcdma, hspa and hsdpa with a bandwith of 1700 and 2100 mghz frequency connections. This att uses lte I believe. So since theres no lte service in my area offered, I believe the phone reverts to Edge gsm at best. Cincinnati Bell uses the same technology as T-Mobile as ive been told and they share the same towers in this region of ohio Kentucky and indiana. So with that said, is it possible this particular phone has all the proper connections and bandwiths but is locked to the original provider of the phone....being att in this case? And if it dont have all the proper frequency and bandwiths, then how do I flash it with T-Mobile radio signals and network technology so it can run using 3 and 4g speeds? Any help I would greatly appreciate. Thanks so much. Everyone have a great weekend.

I'd try some T-Mobile radios. See vincom's stickies.

Search for the following radios and try them :
I757MUGMC5
UVMC6
UVMB1
Try one after the other... Flash in cwm or twrp recoveries.Wipe cache after each radio flash and see what radio can give you the best results..
Wait on each radio for some time (let's say 15min) after reboot to settle down...
Double check your APN settings..
Your issue is exactly like somebody wants to use skyrocket on T-Mobile.. There's is big thread discussing that matter in the general section...
Good luck..
PS:Sometimes using a T-Mobile T989 rom probably would give you higher rates of success, especially your issue is the AWS bands in HSPA+
PS2:As a disclaimer , you're the only one who's responsible for any damages that may happen to your device , especially when dealing with radio and kernel , and as a side note , why Cincci Bell ? unless you have a strong reason (price,reception,etc..) I would think about T mobile itself , they are doing a good job in both expanding their LTE network as well as expanding their refamred 1900MHz spectrum which makes usage of stock AT&T radios possible , I use my Skyrocket on T mobile and get their LTE reception on UCMC1 without the hassle of trying radios and what not ...
