I'm willing to buy a TF700 but I have a question, is there any difference between the TF700 64GB sold in Amazon US and Amazon DE or they are exactly the same? I saw that there are different models for US and International versions but I couldn't find anything about it so far and once I get my unit I'll put a custom rom, is it possible to have some compatibility issue with the German product?
I can't post links yet. (Too noob for it according to XDA ).
Thanks.
as far as i know there are no differences exept the software. but it's possible to change that

Many of us have flashed TW on WW, WW on US, US on WW etc. without experiencing any problems, the same goes for custom ROMs.
That helped a lot, mine is on the way right now!!! Thank you very much!
Does changing WW to US needed unlock bootloader?

no for changing from ww to us your infinity does not have to be rooted or unlocked
simply download the zip from the asus side, unzip it to your microSD and replug the microSD
then a notification will appear

^ This, or you can do it manually by booting to stock recovery with the file on your MicroSD in case there's a problem with the first method. Anyway, no rooting or unlocking needed for any of these, unless you wish to flash custom ROM (not signed by ASUS) which at some point requires both.

Hello everyone,
i do not understand despite having read the dedicated thread, because you have to downgrade from version .29 or .26 to .17 for the root my asus was to version .29, I unlocked the boot with the asus app, I flashed the recovery and installed it. zip to the root that benefits from the downgrade? thanks to who answer me and sorry for my English

Some people would prefer not to unlock their bootloader. If you aren't installing a custom rom, but you would like to root, it makes more sense to obtain it without voiding your warranty.
So if I understand correctly, is a way to have the root without unlocking the bootloader, right?
Yes and no,
If you happen to have an US version, then ...yes
If you happen to have an WW version, then ... no (that is the conclusion at this moment anyway, untill someone finds a WW .17 blob file)
And as far as I could understand, it's the same thing with the DE version.. not possible
For WW en DE owners root only seems to be possible through unlocking the bootloader and using the ClockWorkMod (or something similar).
And unlocking = void warranty
ok thanks ... now my warranty is gone
I hope to start making games gameloft currently incompatible: (
If anyone has any creative ideas on how to extract the 17 WW blob from a device, there is a whole thread of people on 17 WW here (although not much longer) who are waiting for OTAs:

I think you can lose your warranty if they can tell you rooted your device, for example you send your tablet for a RMA because is doing weird stuff and you forget to remove root (this is pure speculation). In any case root is easily removable.
I live in the United States. I purchased an Asus Transformer TF300TL from an online freight overgoods auction. It has a United States ROM (test ROM?) and was probably being sent to an Asus employee for testing purposes or personal use. It is confirmed to be SIM unlocked. An AT&T SIM comes up with the HSPA tray icon and settings/about shows HSPA:11. I tried to register it on the Asus website for warranty purposes but the serial number doesn't appear in their database. It shows "no update available at this time" message when I try to OTA update it through the System Firmware Update.
It is confirmed to NOT be rooted. Obviously I want to root it. Will the standard root procedure for the TF300T/TF300TG work on this device?
It has the following info:
Model: ASUS Transformer Pad TF300TL
Android version: 4.0.3
Baseband version: 333500_0.13.0_0406
Kernel version: 2.6.39.4-00007-g5ec57ee [email protected] #1
Build number: US_epad-userdebug 4.0.3 IML74K US_epad-9.4.4.20-20120413 test-keys
Thanks!

Be carefull!
When I first bought the tablet, i immediately started to root the device, without unlocking the boot (I don't want the warranty void).
All went well at first.... installed titanium backup .... root explorer...
Then i saw: Beats Audio [Root] and I thought... yeah... let's install this....
After install, beats audio had to reboot.... so the pad reboots..... and after that I was staring at the asus boot logo 24/7.:crying:
Something went horribly wrong and i couldn't reach recovery, since the usb icon is not available when you are at a locked boot-loader.
So, I've got the pad back from RMA.... and the first thing i did was:
Unlocking boot !!
PS. You don't loose warranty, when for example you sit on the pad and the glass breaks.
They'll fix it!

I am sure the TF300TL I have is an engineering - test or U.S. employee "one off" device. It has a custom factory ROM.
The SKU starts with "US_epad" and ends with "test-keys".
In any event...running 1 of the benchmark tools it showed a German flag so I am pretty sure it is a German model with a custom US ROM.
Is yours a German TF300TL?
The TF300 series have 1 speaker so unless you are using Dre Beats headphones...
I installed volume+ which has a beats sound profile.
For fun I installed Tweakker ICS beta (an APN settings tool)
Also since my serial number isn't in the database, I have no warranty.
If I called them and asked them for a repair they would probably say "where did you get that tablet from"?
There is a downloadable update at the Asus website for the German TF300TL but I am not going to roll the dice and try to update to it.
My SKU is US even though i am pretty sure it is identical to the German SKU.
The German support site doesn't list the bootloader unlock tool for the TF300TL.
http://support.asus.de/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=de-de
Do you have the TF300T?(WiFi only version) or TF300TG? (3g version) or TF300TL?(LTE version)

That was a ..... BAD BAD Mistake .....
After installing Beats audio [root], the pad rebooted and I was looking at the Asus boot logo.... forever...
So tip for everyone..... don't just root the pad without unlocking the device first!!
Some crazy stuff can happen and you will never reach the USB recovery mode!!
Now, the pad is back from RMA and the first thing i did was unlocking the bootloader.
Now I am running a rooted jelly bean tf300t and i am loving it!!!

Just a small further update:
Just for fun, I downloaded the newest firmware update from the global website for the TF300TL.
I unzipped it onceand copied it to a blank, properly formatted SD Micro card.
It recognizes the card and file but doesn't recognize that it is an update.
Also when I attempt to go into recovery mode (volume down + Power, then quickly press volume up) it shows the android robot with the open stomach and the red triangle.
When booting (volume dowm + Power) it shows the standard android logo (boot to android), the USB logo (bootloader mode), and wipe data logo (wipe data obviously)
Next I am going to download the Asus Pad PC suite.
So far there is no bootloader unlock utility for it. It might brick the tablet to try to unlock the bootloader anyway.
I strongly suspect that Asus locked this sample tablet down hard. haha.
Well at least I got it rooted.
is it possible to root the FT300TL german Version?
Hello together,
I´m in generel a newby. Rootet my Galaxy S2 with Siyah, thats all I performed till today.
Now we bought a TF300TL for our company to use it for our webbased application outside the office. The problem is that in the stock configuration only with Firefox the right click is possible at some, but not all points and FF has also problems to show all details on the site correctly.
I heared about the possibility running Ubuntu on Android, this shout fix the above mentioned problems i think.
I could life with losing LTE possibility if 3G would be still avaible, cause Vodafone Germany don´t offer a secound data Sim-Card with LTE when the first SIM is using Datapackages also (but it has to for checking mails). The phone rings only one time, then the caller is connected to somewhere and thats all. A single LTE Data SIM is to expensive, so we will downgrade the secound SIM to 3G...
So back to my question: Can I root the TF300TL? what do i need for it´s if possible?
Greats

Call AT&T and request your UNLOCK code. They will hassle you and dance around (be firm with them) and they will eventually give you the unlock code.
Did you get this solve?

Hi, were you able to unlock this tablet? pls let me know. I am in same situation. I have called AT&T and they said this tablet is locked to sue only with AT&T as per the contract between Asus & AT&T and they said it cannot be unlocked. Looks rooting is only option. But, I do not know if anyone had been able to successfuly do it and able to install other provider sim card outside US. Please advise.
Have successfully rooted TF300TL JB 4.2 with the motochopper tool. There was a little problem with "ADB server didn't ACK" during the process, solved by deleting the adb.exe into the processes list.
I've just bought a second hand tf300 of Amazon and saw it still had ICS on it. When I tried to OTA update to JB it wouldn't. Closer inspection showed that in settings status the serial number is listed as unknown. I've now updated manually to JB and CWM was not installed so I dont think its unlocked and rooted. However I just want to run it with stock receiving OTA updates. Any ideas how I can fix the serial number issue or bypass to get OTA?

Here is my guess. You are unlocked. You can't load something like cwm if you're not.
I'm guessing before you got the tablet, the previous owner unlocked it, screwed it up, sent it to Asus for repair, and Asus returned it working, but loaded code somehow to eliminate the serial. This has happened to others, or so I've read. Feel lucky if you're unlocked. Users who have been reporting this problem have said their tablets are locked, and since there's no serial, they can't use the tool to unlock it.

When you boot, do you see "this device is unlocked" in small white text on the upper left corner? that's how you tell.
Btw, unlock doesn't mess with the serial number.

The guy you bought it from bricked the unlocked tablet and send it to Asus for repair. They then performed a full reflash but forgot or didn't repair the partition that holds the device ids. You can send it back to Asus for repair and they will fix the serial number issue but even after that you won't be able to receive OTA updates and you won't be able to unlock the device again.

I don't see the "this device is unlocked" message on booting. I tried to run the unlock tool but get an error message. Guess I'm screwed for OTA or unlocking then. A newby question though, if I just want to root (mainly to install adblock and titanium backup, 6 axis etc), do I still need to unlock? If so, will there ever be a root without unlocking ie Debugfs?

Hi all, new to the site.. I have been trying to find sites on google to help me understand better about unlocked tablets.
I recently bought an Asus TF300T transformer pad on ebay, the seller told me everything was in excellent condition except when the machine is powering up, there is a message in the corner that says ' Device is unlocked'. I started researching on this a little and Ive found that the asus tablet has its bootloader unlocked, and it leads to rooting.
I really have no desire to root, this will be a present to someone i care about. Unfortunately i cannot return the item as the seller has stated nonreturns are available. So my question is, if i happen to leave the bootloader unlocked, but not root at all, is there any longtime problem that will occur? Im worried about not being able to update to the latest software. Hope Im in the right place asking this question.

Ok, there is no long term issue with unlocked device. The pros: you can install custom rom/kernel to make your device runs faster. Cons, you will have to manually upgrade your firmware, the OTA update is no longer works for unlocked device. In short unlock without rooting or unlock with rooting have NO EFFECT on your device,

Hi buhohitr, thanks for giving me that answer. I also forgot to put this down but can the tablet, being unlocked that is without roooting, can it still download apps from google store without any problems? and will the apps run just as it would on a locked tablet? Thank you again for your previous answer, appreciate it.
As the other guys said, the only things that change are the lack of OTA updates, the manufacturers warranty is void due to the unlocking, and that the user can (whenever they feel like it) install a custom ROM.
Everything else remains exactly the same, like being able to use/download apps and stuff.

Hi guys, I have the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Infinity TF700T U.S. version. Would someone be willing to assist me in unlocking the bootloader? Currently its on the latest JB firmware V10.4.4.23. I hate to ask considering there are threads here already about unlocking, however it seems those threads are about unlocking the bootloader while still on ICS.
I appreciate any advice.
1. Download the unlock app from http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=ASUS+Transformer+Pad+Infinity+TF700T Ignore the fact that the webpage still says that it only works on ICS; many people have successfully unlocked on JB.
2. Run it (and do not turn off any internet connection, you need it)
3. Read carefully, accept the license, read carefully again, check "agree" and push the button
4. Hope that Asus' server that should send the unlock token works
