Just rooted with bean V5. Went to check my email and nothing is being received. I send a test from my email to my yahoo account and it shows up on my laptop. refresh phone....nothing. Reboot phone and still nothing. all my settings appear to be correct. I went to accounts and sync to delete account and re-attempt to add email account. It wont even let me delete yahoo account and says I must do factory wipe in order to delete this account. Its not my gmail account I'm trying to delete so why is this an issue!? I cant figure this out and it is pissing me off!!
Please give some direction if you can.

I have the same issue with GMAIL, but could not find a setting on the device to stop the inbox deletes. Also, the gmail pop3 settings online are not that clear on what to do?
I have the same problem, and the only way I found to keep my important mail, is by moving them to the spam folder...
If you configure the settings for the mail account to download "All messages" then they won't get deleted unless you delete them manually (in which case they'll disappear next time you send/receive). Just make sure you've only got what you need in your server Inbox....or you've got an unlimited data plan as it may take a while to download them all!!
By default, new mail accounts are setup to download "messages from the last three days" IIRC, which is why messages older than that will disappear from the phone's Inbox on a send/receive.

gmail has a problem that it deletes any read mail. Kinda sucks, but it happens
In the Gmail options (not on your phone, but on the webpage) you can set it to retain a copy of the mail after POP retrieval.

It's not a GMail problem, this happens with all my POP3 accounts. My retrieval settings are already on All Mail - any more bright ideas?

I borrowed my friends SIM to activate my MYTOUCH phone. During activation, it said this GMAIL account is now linked to this phone. problem is it is HIS gmail account, not mines.
Is there a way to change the email to my gmail address?
Or is the only way to RESET the phone?

I'm on an eclair rom right now but there should be an option in your settings called "sync" or something like that where you can add a gmail account and once you add one you can delete the other. Why did you need to borrow someone's SIM to activate the phone? Wouldn't that activate it on that service instead of your own? What are you gonna do when there's no wireless for you to use?

Yes, depend on rom installed. Try this , is you use a rom basef on Eclaire, or something similar in other cases.
Settings-Privacy settings-Factory data reset. Atention that erase all your data stored un phone (contacts etc)
Well, that's weird. Why did you put in your friend's email address? Should've been able to put in your email address even with his SIM.
I found the solution:
going into settings -> applications -> manage apps -> gmail, gmail storage & google apps and clear cache and data. then reboot the phone and see if it prompts you to enter a gmail account.
Once i deleted DATA, i was able to create new gmail account!
Cant get my email to setup using the stock email app. I go into the setup function and put [email protected] and my password and I always get an error. My email account is a ran by yahoo but I still cant get it set up.
I had this problem with my wavecable.com e-mail. I used K-9 mail with Froyo and it worked great. Since moving to GB, I can only receive with that account, trying to enter the correct settings for sending causes a FC. I also tried maildroid but did not like it enough to even remember if it could send. If I have to send mail from my wave account, I can use the browser to access their mail page, but I usually just send from my gmail account.

You will have to manually set that email account up and not let the phone do it automatically.

Thanks for the help.......those settings did the trick.
I use the stock email for my hotmail account which is my main email account so i have all my other email accounts forwarded to that one. I have it set to Push, and it does...sometimes, but not always, which I find to be weird. I have auto sync checked, data or wifi is always running so its a data issue, I've deleted the account and set it up again and im still having the same problem. I am on Tweakstock with PJB. Anyone else having this issue or know of a solution?
I have never found touchwiz email to be useful. I would always have to sync it manually with my college's email. Eventually I integrated it into my gmail (used pop3 in gmail to add to inbox and smtp to send) and the gmail app on my phone will even allow me to send as either my gmail or my college's email. You should try doing this to your hotmail.
I'm using hotmail app to sync and it's working fine. The one that you used is Window live.
ill try the hotmail app, thanks, its just weird cuz i never had a problem until this past week.
I have an odd Email issue. I turned on my phone and found a message saying that "Backup server detected an account change" it then deleted my legitimate @live.com email from the stock mail app and added [email protected] in its place. I now go to accounts in the system menu and behold, there is this new account that is not mine. It will not let me remove it either because it says it is needed by the system and can only be removed with a factory reset.
I also have backup assistant disabled and i am unsubscribed from it on verizon's end, so I don't know what backup server it is talking about.
I am stock, no root yet.
