Cant get my email to setup using the stock email app. I go into the setup function and put [email protected] and my password and I always get an error. My email account is a ran by yahoo but I still cant get it set up.
I had this problem with my wavecable.com e-mail. I used K-9 mail with Froyo and it worked great. Since moving to GB, I can only receive with that account, trying to enter the correct settings for sending causes a FC. I also tried maildroid but did not like it enough to even remember if it could send. If I have to send mail from my wave account, I can use the browser to access their mail page, but I usually just send from my gmail account.

You will have to manually set that email account up and not let the phone do it automatically.
Maybe this link will help.

Is anyone else having issues with yahoo failing to sync when sending/receive emails? I have the HTC Fuze and using email setup, I also tried setting it up manually but I doesnt really matter as sometimes it will work the it stops working.
Just curious.
Thanks..
I was having issues with gmail not sending emails but receiving.
I set up my yahoo account which I use for spam and that sent and received so I deleted my gmail account and set it back up and now it works.
Hopefully that helps you out.
try to reset the phone. happens to me with aol mail
I only use WiFi or BT for my mails, and have the issue with Yahoo-mail that in my home net I can't send mail, only receive. At work I can do both. I think this has to do with some blocked port by the internet provider.
I noticed since I installed the ICS leak about 2-3days ago, Im able to receive my email from exchange just fine, but cannot send email, they just get stuck in the Outbox. I just noticed this today after seeing a ton sitting there. I can continue to receive emails no problem.
This is an exchange setup, so obviously there is no incorrect outbound mail server setting like SMTP or IMAP.
So on a hunch I decided to add this exchange account to my iPad, and send a test mail, and it worked! So for some reason the phone refuses to send out any email from my exchange account but has no problem receiving mail into it.
I also have a GMAIL account which is setup using the native Gmail app and that works flawless, no issues there, its just the native email account with exchange now that seems to have an issue.
Anyone else having this issue? Ive tried to delete the account, re-add it, no change. Then went to Application and cleared all data/cache, no change.

never heard of this issue, but what about k9 as an alternative
K9 doesnt support Exchange Activesync yet, it only supports Exchange Webdav (which is older Exchange server implementations).

I know its definitely the native email app that has issues with sending the mail through Exchange ActiveSync. I just downloaded Enhanced Email from the market and put my same credentials in for my corporate email and was able to send out mail with no issues. Wondering if anyone else uses the native ICS email app with Exchange Activesync has issues.
I had that problem with the native email app yesterday with a recovery based ICS install.
After messing around with it for a while, I did find that the way the e-mail app is working is really odd/seems to require some of the bloatware I typically freeze. I went ahead and did another factory reset of settings in CWM and wiped cache and such a few times, and it did start working.
After the reset and not touching anything, I got the exchange setup to work with both the exchange server at work, and Hotmail's version of it.
I am getting same issue. I tried delete and adding account again. It works for few hours and after that it starts accumulating emails in outbox.
I have not factory reset again yet, as I would need to install all apps again
I ended up reverting back to GB. I have to be able to reply to work email. There is something wrong at the framework or core in this leak. Cause even other email apps like Enhanced Email had the same issue. Worked fine for a few hours then stopped.

You can try the newer email apps at

Was seeing the same issue, messages in the outbox that wouldn't send until manual refresh. Changed the account setting 'Auto resend times' from 3 to 'No limit' and problem solved!
I use the stock email for my hotmail account which is my main email account so i have all my other email accounts forwarded to that one. I have it set to Push, and it does...sometimes, but not always, which I find to be weird. I have auto sync checked, data or wifi is always running so its a data issue, I've deleted the account and set it up again and im still having the same problem. I am on Tweakstock with PJB. Anyone else having this issue or know of a solution?
I have never found touchwiz email to be useful. I would always have to sync it manually with my college's email. Eventually I integrated it into my gmail (used pop3 in gmail to add to inbox and smtp to send) and the gmail app on my phone will even allow me to send as either my gmail or my college's email. You should try doing this to your hotmail.
I'm using hotmail app to sync and it's working fine. The one that you used is Window live.
ill try the hotmail app, thanks, its just weird cuz i never had a problem until this past week.
We all know by now that the phone has been weird with emails. Sometimes the push email works and sometimes it doesn't. My main issue was my Gmail. I have 3x Gmail and 2x Work.
This is what I did. So far, it's working 100%.
Please know, this will only work if you DON'T use the Gmail app.
1. Factory wiped the phone. Once started up, do not add your Google account yet.
2. Go into Settings and Apps and disable all your bloatware while you're here and make sure you disable the Gmail app. When you get out of it, it'll reload Sense. After this, go ahead and reboot your phone to be safe.
3. Now go ahead and go to Settings and Accounts and add your Google account. With Gmail disabled, it will not sync your email. Your choice if you want to sync Contacts.
4. Next, setup your Gmail via Microsoft Exchange via server method. Email and Username is your full email address. Leave Domain blank. The server address is m.google.com
5. When finished, set it up Push Email and not Smart Sync. If you did not sync your Contacts via Google, you can do it here also. Same with Calendar and Tasks.
Done!

With this method, I haven't had any issues...YET
Please comment if this works well for you.
Maybe we can see if it's just Gmail accounts in general or any Microsoft Exchange accounts too.
Please NO iOS vs Android statements
Or you can do what I did and go into your advanced wifi settings and enable Best Wifi Performance. Since I enabled this my push notifications have been coming instantly.

I had the issue regardless on WiFi, 4G, or LTE.
I am on LTE 100% so I prefer my faster connection
I know that this thread is about not using the Gmail app but I saw on the other thread about the email issues that some people complained about the Gmail app being slow too with getting push notifications.
I am a first time Android user and I have noticed that it usually takes several minutes for my phone to notify me in the GMail app. Is this normal across Android phones or does this push notification bug also affect the GMail app too?

This is NOT normal. The native gmail app should receive emails within 5-10 seconds (max) of when they would show up in your account if you were using a computer.

What worked for me was extremely simple. After I setup the accounts, I went back into "Accounts & Sync" and under each account, I simply toggled "Sync Mail" off, then back on. After I did that to each account, push was enabled and working on all accounts.

So does anyone know of any solution to fix the issue for the Gmail app?

My Gmail app doesn't push all my mail. When I check my gmail on my laptop, there is still unread mail in my inbox???
I'm having an issue with the stock email app where I can only seem to get my emails while on wifi. Anytime I leave my house or work where I am connected to wifi, I get a message that says "Can't Sign In". If it makes any difference, I am using my Yahoo email account. I know one solution is to use the official Yahoo app, but I want to do what I can to stick with the stock email app
I saw a tip somewhere on XDA that said to change the Incoming and Outgoing server settings and this worked for a bit but the settings seem to change itself. The tip was to delete the word android from both server names, changing the Incoming server from "android.imap.mail.yahoo.com" to "imap.mail.yahoo.com" and changing the Outgoing server from "android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" to "smtp.mail.yahoo.com"
Anyone?
In the meantime I started using the official Yahoo Mail app, but I'd like to use the stock email app if anyone could help me? Thanks
It could help you: http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=content&y=PROD_MAIL_ML&locale=en_US&id=SLN4075
EDIT
I've just tried with a Yahoo address email and the stock Email app. Everything is automatically configured. I can show you my settings if needed.
Make sure you didn't prevent background data for the app
