I feel really dumb for having to ask this but I've got exDialer installed and originally used it on my gnex w/o any issues. On the S3 when making a call it works fine. However, based on the color of the display, incoming calls seem to be handled by the stock phone handler. On the gnex I'm pretty sure that it defaulted to exDialer for both incoming and outgoing calls.
It's probably something really stupid on my part but is there a setting I've overlooked? Neither app has any defaults set based on settings under Manage Apps.
Not sure if it matters but I'm rooted and on the stock rom. Also using Nova as the launcher.
Alright. I used Default App Manager to set the default phone app and verified it with the app manager but incoming calls still use what's supplied with the phone instead of exDialer.
Anybody have other suggestions?

i too want to know .. how to set exDialer to handle incoming calls
Maybe try freezing stock Dialer using Tibu? Careful doing this tho. Make sure you unfreeze it if you don't receive any calls.

Ex dialer probably relies on the system dialer to work, freezing it would likely break call functionality. I don't think ex dialer is able to receive calls.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
Here's an idea go to settings/Apps. Goto exdialer. Clear defaults. Next time you make a call it should ask you if you want to use exdialer

i have tried this method, didn't worked
i guess the best way is to look for a alternate Caller ID which replace stock thing.

I cant get it to work on my nexus s.. I'm on the latest cm7 nightly and whenever I reboot mynpgone it says noled is on
I had that behavior on stock already. Just learnt to do with out it and now I it does not bother me.

Works fine for me on all CM7 builds. Check your settings and also make sure you have a valid lockscreen for it to work.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
what exactly do you mean a valid lockscreen? I am using stock
Some people like to use third party apps which disable the stock lockscreen like "nolock" which doesn't work with noled. Go to manage apps, noled, clear data. Leave all settings intact except enabling the notifications you want shown. Should work out the box. Don't enable blink.

I still have not gotten this to work with google voice..
Does anyone know if having a screen off profile in setcpu will interfere with this?

Hi,
I have a question.. is it possible to change the settings so that text messages that we get show the time as the sent time instead of received time.
I did a search for this on the forums (and google) and i believe someone worked on it for the galaxy s I9000. Is there anything we can do for the Nexus S. I also saw that there is an app called SMS Timestamper fix which adds the correct times to the texts, but i just wanted to know if its possible to fix it in the phone settings itself?
Thanks,
the SMS time fix is only to show received time, not sent time
the sent time should be recorded properly as it uses the time you sent out on your phone

Im not sure if you are thinking the same as me. I dont have any issue with the time being an hour behind the correct time (which is what i understand the time fix is for, but correct me if i am wrong).
The situation I have at the moment is, say i am in an area without reception and people send me smss. I do not receive them, but as soon as i go into an area with reception, all the sms's arrive on my phone. However, the time associated with the sms's is that of when they arrive on my phone (ie when i have just moved back into an area with reception), and not the time they were sent (which would be much more useful).
Hope that makes sense, and sorry if you did understand my problem already.
I have searched in the default messaging app, but i cant find the settings Use original timestamps. Maybe I am missing something.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
I just checked and use original timestamp is there indeed. Check it again man.

very odd indeed... i checked again, i went to messaging app (the default one with the green bubble icon with smiley face), settings, and definitely not there for me. I see settings for delivery reports, but not a "use original timestamp".
I am running the deodexed stock rom with voodoo kernel, posted by master, perhaps this is causing the issue? (i actually believe i have never seen this setting on my phone even when i was running 100% stock with normal kernel).
Is there anyway i can reinstall the default messaging app?
Hi all,
I've been a member for a while, but this is my first post in a while.
I recently changed my Motorola Atrix to a Samsung Skyrocket. I love the phone, however I am having a little problem. The Skyrocket will not make noise or vibrate for notifications (such as text, or email, facebook, twitter, etc) but will play ringtone for phonecalls. When I restart the phone, it will work maybe for a day, but after that, it stops working again. Sometimes after receiving a call the notifications will start working again. I've checked the volume settings, and the notifications and ringtone settings, and everything like that... it's all normal. Any suggestions? I've been searching in the forums, and other sites as well, but dont seem to find anything.
The phone is rooted, but that's about it, stock rom. I also did a master reset on the phone as well.
I was using go sms but deleted it and the notifications still go silent.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!
Hopefully someone here can help ya. I still have not found a solution
Ome thing I never really thought of was trying an Odin restore back to stock...a full clean slate. If that doesn't fix it then definitely a defective phone

That's what I did this morning. So far it's working perfectly, hopefully it will keep working.
Thanks for the reply!
I installed Go SMS again and seems to be working. What I did notice this time around, is that when I was setting up the notifications for the Facebook app, I noticed the option to choose from the Android System ringtones or from Go SMS. Maybe I had it set up to choose ringtones from Go SMS. Seems to be working fine now.
The notification volume and incoming call volume are seperated. The notification sometimes changes somehow idk how. If you want the incoming and notification to be the same download MySettings. The open the app up and click and hold the ringer icon then itll come up with volume settings. Check the box that says use incoming and notification sound together

Hello,
I'd like to do 2 things but am not sure what to do to improve voicemails for me.
1. When I slide down to see that I have a voice mail, if I select it it prompts me for a password. I'd like it to auto enter it. I can dial my voicemail and have it put in pauses and auto enter my password but it would be much more convenient if I could make the notification icon do that for me. Had that problem with the nexus but was too lazy to do anything about it.
2. When the phone rings, if I ignore it, I still get the default sound afterwards - probably to tell me I have a voicemail. Not much point in having it do a default notification immediately after ignoring a phone call so if I could turn that off, that would be great. My nexus didn't have that - seemed like I had more options for sounds for specific events but that could be faulty wiring in my brain.
Thanks
I figured out the default sound - it was changing between my messaging sound and the default sound.
I'd still like to figure a way to avoid the password prompt in my voice mail.
Not sure as I have never used the default voicemail on my Galaxy S3. I use voicemail through Google Voice. It is much better (In My Opinion) than regular voicemail.

my god thank you!
this has been bugging the sh*t outta me
Using google voice will be your best bet. These are the options you can choose to have using it.
1. You can access your vm via normal calls/prompts
2. You can have your voicemail transcribed and emailed to you
3. You can have your voicemail transcribed and texted to you
4. YOu can choose to do none of the above and just get a notification you have a voicemail and go directly to the google voice website and play your voicemail automatically via web browser.
None of the above requires a password.

Thanks - I understand I can do it if I create a voicemail contact and call voicemail. My goal is to slide down notifications and click on the voicemail icon.
Hi all.
I am on the Embryo ROM which is awesome.
One problem I started having after flashing though is that I cannot clear Missed Call Notifications.
They pop up in the notifications bar and whether I hit the clear icon, or whether I hit the missed calls, they dont go away.
They will disappear for a few hours but then I will get a new Missed Call notification at some point, and its now up to something like 20-30 Missed Calls.
It used to be that a call would pop up as Missed in my notification and I could click on it to dial. Now when I click it takes me into my Dialer app (DialerEx)...but nothing I do seems to remove them from the notification queue.
Any advice please?
It is probably DialerEx causing the issue. Uninstall it and then reinstall it and see if that helps.

it didn't fix it for me, I ended up with a fresh install, but it's worth trying, easier for op instead of new flash
