Hi all.
I am on the Embryo ROM which is awesome.
One problem I started having after flashing though is that I cannot clear Missed Call Notifications.
They pop up in the notifications bar and whether I hit the clear icon, or whether I hit the missed calls, they dont go away.
They will disappear for a few hours but then I will get a new Missed Call notification at some point, and its now up to something like 20-30 Missed Calls.
It used to be that a call would pop up as Missed in my notification and I could click on it to dial. Now when I click it takes me into my Dialer app (DialerEx)...but nothing I do seems to remove them from the notification queue.
Any advice please?
It is probably DialerEx causing the issue. Uninstall it and then reinstall it and see if that helps.

it didn't fix it for me, I ended up with a fresh install, but it's worth trying, easier for op instead of new flash

I'm also on orange. Voicemail notifications kept appearing for me until I would delete the voicemails. Then no more notifications. Not ideal, but eh.

OK I don't know what I did, but now when my wife texts me I receive two messages - so now she's doubly annoying an naggy (joke). Anyone know how to fix this (not the annoying and naggy thing, the double text thing)?
Edit: It happens with both Handcent and stock messenger.

Do you get one message in each app or two in each?
If the latter and if she does also, you might try freezing one of the apps. I was getting the same message in both and froze the stock app.
Do have Handcent setup as default to handle both sms & mms?

Nope, default is disabled.
Is this only when your wife texts? Maybe problem is on her side.

Yep. She uses T-Mobile as well. For a while it happened why my sister and brother-in-law (also T-Mobile) texted. It's very annoying.
I have the same issue. It seems to be at random for me, with everyone I text. Hadn't figured out a pattern that let me figure out why it happens either. I'm using chompsms and get double texts on it. Weird...

Did that when I installed Hancent over a month ago.
As far I can tell this is a bug. I've had this for a while, sometimes worse than others. Hasn't been too bad lately, but I do get occasional double texts. There have been times it was every text though, sometimes up to 4 of them.N never had this issue with any phone other than this one though
Do you have an app installed called Organizer Widget ? Or any other app that has permissions to intercept text messages ? I had an issue with Organizer Widget where it would not send the "text received" signal unless I was on WiFi calling.
Try uninstalling apps that have this permission and see if it stops. Remember what the last app you uninstalled was.

From everything I've tried to find out about this in the past, it's a known issue with Gingerbread. Back on big red, My D1 running GPA15/16 had this same issue, BAD. My G2x on OTA 2.3.3 gets the random double text every once in a while, but it's far less often. There's really nothing you can do. I did find though that if I froze stock messenger I wouldn't get any text messages anymore (I think...don't really remember all that much). So my advice is just to disable notifications in the stock messenger and try not to get too upset by them.

The issue the OP is having is NOT that he is getting one notification in stock msging and one notification in Handcent, it's that in Handcent he is getting two notifications. He had already indicated that he disabled stock notifications.
OP, I have the same problem occasionally. I have no earthly clue what causes it, or how to fix it, but you're not alone.

Hi all,
I've been a member for a while, but this is my first post in a while.
I recently changed my Motorola Atrix to a Samsung Skyrocket. I love the phone, however I am having a little problem. The Skyrocket will not make noise or vibrate for notifications (such as text, or email, facebook, twitter, etc) but will play ringtone for phonecalls. When I restart the phone, it will work maybe for a day, but after that, it stops working again. Sometimes after receiving a call the notifications will start working again. I've checked the volume settings, and the notifications and ringtone settings, and everything like that... it's all normal. Any suggestions? I've been searching in the forums, and other sites as well, but dont seem to find anything.
The phone is rooted, but that's about it, stock rom. I also did a master reset on the phone as well.
I was using go sms but deleted it and the notifications still go silent.
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thanks!
Hopefully someone here can help ya. I still have not found a solution
Ome thing I never really thought of was trying an Odin restore back to stock...a full clean slate. If that doesn't fix it then definitely a defective phone

That's what I did this morning. So far it's working perfectly, hopefully it will keep working.
Thanks for the reply!
I installed Go SMS again and seems to be working. What I did notice this time around, is that when I was setting up the notifications for the Facebook app, I noticed the option to choose from the Android System ringtones or from Go SMS. Maybe I had it set up to choose ringtones from Go SMS. Seems to be working fine now.
The notification volume and incoming call volume are seperated. The notification sometimes changes somehow idk how. If you want the incoming and notification to be the same download MySettings. The open the app up and click and hold the ringer icon then itll come up with volume settings. Check the box that says use incoming and notification sound together

The ongoing notification requires root. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1770622
Or you can root to the Synergy Rom.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1792499
The notification deletion is imbedded in the Rom. After flashing it, reboot once and it's gone for good

If you're on Verizon, it's impossible to miss. It's in your notification bar when you drag it down each time and reads "Wi-Fi off: turn on Wi-Fi"

Oddly enough, some report that they have neither the ongoing notification nor the annoying pop-up when wifi is off on a fully stock device. The vast majority have it but I've seen a couple saying they don't have either.

PROBLEM SOLVED!! (kinda.)
you can pull down the notification bar and long-press the "Tap to turn wifi on" ongoing notification and then click app info. from this point, the process will come up titled 'Android System'. (this is not what runs your phone, its just titled this) if you force stop this process, the notification will go away until the next time you boot up your phone! -i know its not permanent but it sure beats the hell out of it always being up there!!
THE MAIN BENEFIT OF THIS FOR ME (AND FOR ANY OTHERS WITH 4.1) WHEN YOU GET A MESSAGE OR EMAIL, IF ITS THE TOP NOTIFICATION IN THE LIST, IT SHOWS ADDITIONAL DETAILS. CHECK IT OUT IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT I MEAN.
Hello,
My phone is on a montioring system that sends me a text when a system is having a problem. I need the alarm to be long and loud so I am positive to hear it even if sleeping. My problem is when I get one I want it to automatically stop making noise if I pick up my phone, sweep the screen saver or anything that indicates I'm going to look at the message.
How do I stop the text notification noise if I'm actually looking at my phone?
Thanks

Thanks -no app - just native text messaging notification. I changed the default sound for text messages to a long loud notifications so I respond to emergency texts. I just want to be able to quickly shut them off when I get them.

I don't know if this works for text messages but have you tried the 'turn over to mute' in motion settings? it works great for incoming phone calls.
