I have an One S by contract with virgin mobile in australia.it the s3. But the screen solution is not 960x540, it 888x540 with 240dpi. The Htc say that it about the handset but i dont know what is that about. I ask them again but no respone till now so I would like to ask someone can tell me about that and how to boost the cpu speed to improve performance when i play Inotia 4 plus. Thks for you reading

Probably the pixels missing are used to display the 3-dot menu, if you check resolution in an app that supports ICS properly you'll see all the vertical pixels. Don't know if there is an overclockable kernel available for the S3 yet, check out the Back to basic ROM in development section.

Why do people change the pixel density on phones? never really understood? Is it for aesthetic purposes or dev purposes?
It mimics a display with a higher resolution in the aspect of outing more content on the display but it does nothing to the clarity of text. The text clarity is still crisper on a higher resolution display and if you ask me, raising the pixel density actually makes text more blurry.

Thanks, but i mean how can it mimic a higher resolution?
EDIT: here's a video, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nqs8j13Mk8k
What's the point of doing this?
More pixels on the screen means more content without changing the physical size of the LCD.

OOOOOOOH. Ok i think I gotcha. But it just makes everything smaller, not higher resolution right?

Interesting. I thought you prefer Sensation screen over G2x screen because it has higher density.

Because it actually has more pixels. The g2x doesn't, so you are just making it seem like it does.
You can't magically put more pixels on a screen that has a set resolution.
I always change my pixel density. I use 5 columns and 6 rows on my home screens. At the stock density widgets and icons overlap. I like 190 with my G2X, now overlapping. I used 167 LCD density on my HD2. The most common drawback is that it can make some apps look odd or make your keyboard small. 190 works fine though and I have only noticed a few games in which the menu screen was scaled oddly.

I do prefer the Sensations display over the G2X display because not only does it have a higher density but also a higher resolution so text appears clearer and crisper. That's exactly what I said in the post you quoted in more words or less.

Ha. 190 works best. I haven't had any problems except Wifi Calling force closes, but if you enable it before, it will continue to activate with wifi.
I use 9x10 rows/columns on my homescreen!

Damn, that's crazy...8x9!
I thought I was using a lot of rows on my phones. I do 6x7 in my G2X @190 and 7x8 on my Sensation @stock density.

I tried changing it once on my G1.
I did not like it.
I just like it the way it is just fine. On this phone.

Hi,
I have recently purchased a new NEXTBOOK Premium 8 it doesn't give me the option to set a static ip on this device.
On all other devices that are running ics the option in modify network displays show advanced options but on this nextbook you don't have those options.
Could someone tell me whether I need to root this device to get this functionality?
or if there is another way around this issue.
many thanks

Does anyone know if there is an app to change the resolution that a paticular app is displayed in. for instance i have been playin a game called vector defence, the native resolution is 800 x 480, and when i launch it on the Atrix 2 all the GFX are messed up or not in the right position, is there a way to fix? I have seen phones like the LG nitro HD are able to fix this problem because there is a setting under the display tab which allows the phone to adjust for non native apps, so it would nice if anyone knows. I tried to search for an awnser but i think i am not using the right lingo.

CyanogenMod 11 would be great
maybe should work on camera to have full screen instead of half screen when viewing. For me, unattractive

the new 4.3 camera has 16.9 screen size but only if 2mp is selected. ( would be nice to see this modded to work with the max setting )

Hi. I wanted to know whether the Mali Gpu has enough power to render HD Games on a 12.2 inch screen without lack of frames or not! Has anybody with the Exynos version installed HD Games(Like Modern Combat 4, Asphalt 8,...) to see whether it's smooth or it has lack of frames?? Thanks.

Gaming perfotmance should be nigh identical to then note 2014 which if you have read the forums you know chews through all the high end games out. With exception of a few that arent optimized yet. Its a bigger screen but in the end its pushing the same number of pixels so no difference. Actually might be better because of 4.4. Emulators also work very nicely and are my preference for gaming.

Unless resoultion changes there should be no difference, just as one should see no difference in frame rate when changing the size of monitor plugged into a PC as long as the monitors have the same resolution. The larger monitors simply have larger pixel sizes which in effect means they're the one doing the scaling for you, not the gpu. With similar hardware specs for both notes other than the display panel size one should expect the performance to be similar as well. Any variations in performance would likely be attributed to software improvements on the newer tablet.

That doesnt make any difference though. If the pixels are bigger (they shouldn't be) the gpu still sends the same number of signals and processess the same signals. It could be a 20 inch screen with the same overal pixel count and get the same performance. But anyways yes it rocks at gaming
