error mounting /sdcard - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I was trying to upgrade from leaked ICS on skyrocket to SKY-ICS 4.2F6-2.3 (7/24) (UCLF6 Base) AT&T OFFICIAL ICS..Project Margarine after the flashed i can't mount the /sdcard i get the "error mounting sdcard"
I tried with ODIN i.e. installing the original stock version (I727UCLF6_I727ATTLF6_ATT) thinking it will fix the problem but i am still running into "error mounting /sdcard"
I tried searching for the problem but unable to find any fix for the problem...
Any help will be very appreciated...

I had the same problem once. Had to format the sdcard on a pc and that fixed it.

from where are you trying this, from recovery or after phone boots up
if after phone boots up then see if windows can read it so u can back it first, then format

I recommend you use twrp recovery install using goo manager from the market, press haptic button in the bottom right then open recovery script, then reboot recovery you can flashed skyics from internal card also.

Hey man, are you successfully booting in to CWM recovery, or are you getting the Samsung recovery screen?
It boots me into thesamsung recovery screen, not cwm. Thamx for the reply.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
In that case, you'll need a modified 3e file in order to get CWM up and running instead of Samsung recovery: Modified 3e Tutorial
I tried the modified 3 e file. I renamed it and and copied it to the root of the sd card.. Reboot into recovery and selected reinstalled packages once.. It gave me the error of saying the file does not exist on mnt/internal_sd card selected reinstall packages and same error. No luck here been trying it for days. Thnx for the reply.

I did select reinstall packages twice.

Find and follow the ultimate unbrick instructions. It'll get you rooted and have cwm.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997R using XDA Premium App
are you using Rom manager to get CWM
if so, i have noticed that i have the same problem unless i do everything twice, including the install CWM portion.
i have install CWM 2 times, the reboot into recovery and install packages 2 times to get to the CWM Recovery.
otherwise yes i would say just flash the Ultimate Unbrick and get into it that way.
I did use ultimate unbrick.. supposedly to go back to stock. Some file from serendipity infused rom are still on my phones, cant get rid of it. And now the base is uckd5.. what dies that mean. I did partition when doing ultimate unbrick.. and do I have to root again? Confused here. Thanks for the reply.

Where did you actually get the Serendipity ROM? It's not showing up for me in the ROM downloads of CWM.

.......infuse.....Infused....infusion.........
You forgot to adjust the permissions of your new recovery file.
then dont use the Ultimate Unbrick, use another back to stock method. i use gtg's other Md5sum with odin to flash back to stock after i use the Ultimate unbrick because the ultimate unbrick does not allow unsigned packages, so i run the Ultimate then i Run his other Back to stock to get past the unsigned error and Flash the Update.Zip that Rom manager makes to get into CWM......
after that i just WIPE and FLASH like crazy........lol
if i get hung up i just rinse and re-use.

not to jack the thread, but what does this mean? would that let me get past the my second step of flashing a different stock md5sum through odin. so i can past the unsigned error?
or is that something else?

you just go to install zip from SD card, then select choose zip (maybe those are in reverse order - i'm not in recovery right now, so this is just from memory, but you should get the gist), then find where you saved the serendipity zip on your SD card, select it, go to yes... and that should be it, assuming you are coming from stock froyo.
I went to install zip from sd card but I dont see the S7 zip file. I did copy it to the root of the sd card cuz when I reboot back to system I see that its there but not when I try to install it from sd card in cwm. Hmmm anyone.. Help.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Ok.. I tried stalling the S7 rom thru vwm (instal from sd card but got an error. Finding update package..
Opening update package...
E: cant open /sdcard external-sd/S7.Infuse 8.26 zip.
(No such file or directory)
Installation aborted.
What am I doing wrong? Anyone? If I reboot into recovery I still cant find S7 Infuse zip. I know its there but doesnt show up. All I see is update.zip

[Q] [HELP!!] stuck at RED CWM!!

hey alll,
i was running the latest Infused ROM until i decided to play around.
I backed up the current ROM using Red CWM,
then flashed DlevRom Infuse edition which worked flawlessly.
Then i decided to try MIUI Rom, and i also succeeded.
I didn't like MIUI, so I decided to "restore" my backup.
Now.. I had restored previously many times so I thought I knew what I was doing..(apparently not, cuz I'm stuck at Red CWM now..)
So I went into recovery, i think it was blue... so i remembered from my restore to infused from CM7 that I needed to be in the same recovery as the one I made the back up with. So I rebooted into MIUI, installed SGS Kernal Flasher, and flashed Bedwa's latest kernel which I was running with Infused.
So I booted into recovery, and had my Red CWM up. so i tried restoring...
here's the full CWM code(word choice?)
Checking MD5 sums...
Restoring system...
Restoring data...
E: Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(File exists)
Error mounting /data/!
Skipping format...
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p2
(File exists)
Can't mound /data/!
and with this i'm at the Red CWM Menu...
Where did I go wrong? How do I successfully restore? I never ran into this problem before...
Please help!!! =( =( =(
Edit: I was desperate so I disabled voodoo lagfix from CWM menu and rebooted ... I heard the robot voice saying now it's disabled....and I'm still stuck in bootloop..
please help me get it back to a working state =(((
Use ags kernel flasher and flash the cwm community kernel to get red cwm back. You can't restore or flash other Rom's from blue. Witch you pointed out you were in red. Try mounting system/data then restore

Not to sure there might be a problem with it trying to read the backup/ mounting data. You might just have to reflash the rom you would like to use

Ran into this problem today when flashing a rom, i had to odin ultimate unbrick and erase all data from within the stock recovery (blue). I then odin-ed community kernel, enabled voodoo, then did red recovery and flashed my custom rom again and the data partiton was working again. I'm not sure what had happened, but i had to ultimate unbrick twice with the pit file.

yes.. haha which one should I use?? because I see there are three.. gtg has two and h8rift has one..
i want to do the one that puts me back to stock with root + 3e which i think both gtg and h8rift put out...
what exactly does odin back to stock "wipe"?
in gtg's post it says that it wipes data, dbdata, idk.. stuff like that and i have no idea what that means... as long as my pictures and files in my "download" folder are safe i'm good!
I've always lost root with Odin back to stock only erases system files such as apps and everything ur SD card will be fine you'll just have to re-root flash 3e recovery and cwm

[Q] Please Help this Noob

So in an attempt to completely restore my phone I did something stupid. I went into CWM> mounts and storage > Then did format /cache, format /data, format /sdcard, and format /system. afterwards My phone was stuck in never ending reboot so I tried flashing the stock g2x rom and I kept getting an "Installation Aborted" error. What can I do? All help is appreciated.
what stock rom were you flashing? a backup you made yourself (before you flashed a new rom) or one that you downloaded somewhere?
It was one i downloaded
Just mount USB and copy over a rom, you can't use your phone until then lol.

I've already tried that. After I formated everything I downloaded the stock g2x rom and put it on my SD card
Wait what? You formatted it again after placing a rom on it? Just download a rom from a PC and mount sdcard while plugged in to computer copy rom over and unmount then flash rom.

I'm stilling getting "installation aborted".
After I did all the formatting crap I talked about, my phone wouldn't boot so I put my SD card in my computer and put the stock G2X rom on there. When I tried to flash it i got the installation aborted error
Never heard of it or seen the issue is the rom a normal size? Possibly have to reflash CWM.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yea, try re-flashing CWM and trying a different ROM, I've gotten that error when the install script wasn't written correctly.
I know this is incredibly noobish but...how do I reflash CWM?
The same way you flashed just repeat the steps.

[Q] Tablet stuck in CWM recovery!!!

I went to install a rom, then rebooted. after that its got as far as the splash screen (the one with EEE on it) and now it wont go past it. i tried putting a different rom on the sd card and installing it instead, but cwm wont recognize any change in my sd card content. TF IS GOING ON?!?!?
What version of cwm do you have? What ROM were you trying to install?
Did you do a full wipe, ect?
Friend has the same problem. He flashed last CWM 5.5.0.4 from Recovery manager and when he chooses "install from sdcard", so he gets "No files found".

there is a problem with this cwm. You will need an adb shell when you are in cwm recovery, and probably remove /sdcard symbolink link, create /sdcard folder mount manually data partition and mount microsd partition if you have your rom in the microsd

To remove any sort of further errors, I think you should reinstall stock firmware and then try CWM again.

it is simple i think..
1)just boot into recovery..
2) enter mount and storage option
3 and format all the options..
/cache
/data
/system
/sd-ext
4) reboot recovery..and...
done!..flash new rom as you wish..
