I admit that I was a bit excited and should have at least posted in the accessories forum. However, I think that there's a great deal of interest in the Prime (of course), and I thought this cover was unique and innovate enough to point out. It demonstrates how much thought ASUS seems to be putting into the Prime, which is a real positive.
I have been playing with this same concept for the TF101. I would love to get my hands on one of these to see how they are attaching it to the base.
I really want a VERY light weight cover just to protect the glass and give it a stand for our TF101, this might get the ball rolling for us to get something like it.

Amazing idea! Ideal solution. Why the hell aren't they doing that? Hell just a spring loaded rod with 2 hooks.

The latch should be very similar on the prime as it is on the TF101, except for the depth of the distance from latch to screen.
Would be nice to modify to fit ours, or better yet, make one specifically for it.

I hope it doesn't have magnets. It's a pointless gimmick that only Apple would come up with. To save yourself a couple of seconds fitting a tab or two or pressing a power button, you now have a case that can accidentally wipe your credit card or damage an old-school CRT TV / monitor if you hold it too close. Niiice.

Well, with this kind of cover, I'm not sure how it would function without a magnet. There's nothing to secure it to...
The magnet would have to be decently strong too, to wipe off your credit card magnetic stripe (or you put there for a long time or something).

I've seen multiple reports of even just the iPad itself wiping credit cards and hotel room keys. The cover contains twice as many magnets as the iPad does...

Well maybe if you stop using your electronic devices as hammers... I find mine stay in good shape, but then, I look after them.

The less of them, the better. I'd prefer a physical switch in the TF dock, too.
There are a hell of a lot more than one in the iPad 2 and Smart Cover, though. The iFixit teardown shows ten magnets in the iPad 2 body (four small ones in one side of the rear panel, four small and two large ones in the left side), and no less than 21 in the "Smart" Cover (two big, 18 small, and one tiny).
That's 31 magnets in an iPad 2 with cover, of which there are four large magnets, 26 small ones, and one tiny one.

Hello,
I just got my Transformer Infinity TF700T. I tested it over an hour and am frankly quite happy with it, except one minor issue.
The hinge near the lower left corner is not tight, i can easily press it down a bit. It did pop up a little. There's no gap between the silver back cover and the front screen, it's just the back cover which doesn't firmly attach to the main body i believe.
Can other TF700T owners verify this issue ? Is it a manufacturer's defect ?

I'm a little bit confused by your post.. Are you referring to the hinge with the dock or just the corner of the tablet itself?
I have no gaps or "pops" when I press around the edges of my tablet. Maybe if you take a picture or give some more details I can confirm again for you if I have, or not, experienced the same.

My TF700 is pretty snug in the hinge that makes the screen able to 'clamshell' with the dock. There is a little leeway in pulling and jerking, but not too much, so I'd call it secure. Since it has to be nice to the connecting sockets as well, I do not know if a a really tight connection could be feasible; I'd imagine you'd need a least a minimal amount of wiggle room.
I just checked my own. I see what you mean. Im able to press the screen down 1mm right around that spot. The rest of the frame is solid.
Would be nice if more people checked this spot and posted results.

Well, mine is as tight on the left as on the right -- I really can't spot any difference. There's less leeway than I originally thought (I didn't have the dock with me at that particular moment, so I posted off of memory). It's pretty tight. Does the locking mechanism go all the way to the right for you?

I'm 'glad' that i'm not the only person I intended to send it back but there's no guarantee that the replacement will not have the same issue.
To be fair, i would expect a much more solid product for such amount of cash

The 'hinge' i refered to was between the back (gray/gold) cover and the screen. I can press the screen down a little bit at the edge of the tablet.
I believe at least 3 other owners have reported the same issue, particularly in the same place as well.

You can actually call something that hold itself together in a loosely fashion as a "Hinge".
Which is exactly what the title of this post referring to.
I can also confirm this issue. Just got mine yesterday. I uploaded a pic of where I have to press down, just above the microHDMI port. Would be interesting to know if ASUS sees this as manufacturing defect.

Hmmm... At first I only had this problem down in the left corner by the docking hinge. Now I suddenly have it all along the bottom. Anyone else seen a difference over time?

You have to read the Transformer Prime area if you want to learn more about QC and Asus products. I don't think their QC line has changed at all coming from the Prime. Probably the same people.
I have this tablet for 3 weeks now and today I noticed the problem described in this topic.
I'll wait with a RMA or anything because I'm not sure if the replacement will fix this and if it will be back before my holiday. Let's hope it won't get worse.

Has anyone purchased a smart cover for their Infinity? Like something comparable to an iPad smart cover? I'd prefer something like that over a keyboard dock or sleeve type protection. Curious what's out there. Looks like Asus made some for older models but they are reviewed unfavorably.

I just bought this, and if im not happy with it i will for sure be getting my money back because the description and pictures are all over the place lol. Theres too many things to point out, but its only ten dollars so why not take the risk. Seems pretty cool if it checks out right

There is the official smart cover by Asus called TranSleeve.
But there is a report here somewhere it doesn't fit well and you have to tweak it a little too have it perfectly fit.

I don't think there is a smartcover for infinity, and i am afraid there never will be!
You see, smart cover means that when you "open" it, the screen turns on (iPad, Nexus7), becuase there is a magnet in the chasis of the pad that makes that possible. Haven't tried applying a magnet on infinity, but i don't think there is one...
So, sorry about that. transsleeve maybe looks like smart cover, but it is pretty stupid if you ask me
TranSleeve is what I'm looking for. Just light protection for the screen when I set it down and a stand when in use. Has anyone tried it with the TF700? The reviews are mixed from TF201 users, some love it some don't.
Also, anyone try waiving a magnet around this thing yet? If they eventually came out with one that could trigger the screen like an iPad that would be ideal.

I have the transleeve, and it's a perfect fit. I read somewhere that it made marks on the side of the tablet, but on mine there is small rubber patches on. So I guess they have fixed that problem.

I have TF201 TranSleeve on my TF700 and it fits perfectly. No need to do any tweaks.
TranSleeve is OK, but after little pressure applied it leaves traces on the screen (looks like rubber, although it's just synthetic).

I noticed that the iPad smartcover does that too. There are three horizontal lines on the screen.
So far my favourite cover / screen protection is the dock itself.

I'm thinking the same. But I'd like to get a cover for while at home. I'm going to get real sleeve to carry all of it when I leave the house so I can put it in my backpack without worrying about it getting messed up. I'd love a sleeve with 3DO in it but no one makes those.
I got the Transleeve Dual yesterday and to be honest I don't like it at all. It feels nice in the hand but that is just about the only compliment I can give it.
The case just ruins the elegance of the tablet which I find surprising since it is an Asus product.

Where did you order from? i cant seem to find it
Yes yes, I know we have had threads about it before, but what exactly is the bit that is flexing? The glass flexes, but is it the adhesive that connects it to the LCD or is it the whole body that is connected through the plastic clips. Since my warranty is bugged, and the ASUS guy had to tell me that with the unlocked bootloader, I get no warranty even if its not related to the software at all, like the screen. He said unlocking it actually roots the device. Well my friend, I am pretty sure you're wrong. But anyway, enough fuming about QC, we need to be productive and try to think of a fix, aside from opening it up. I am thinking if it is connected by adhesive, and that is what is flexing (I think it would be because for the plastic clips to just break suddenly seems a it ridiculous) would it be possible to maybe heat it up with a hair dryer and then press it back down until the adhesive sticks again? Just my thoughts, can't stand this clicking. Any other ideas?

I have heard that leaving it in the sun until it gets pretty warm, and then putting a fairly heavy, flat object (a big art book, let's say) on it (while your tablet is lying on a blanket or something soft/smooth) may melt, re-attach the adhesive. If you do this, please be careful, lest you end up with a worse problem. And as always--I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE, blah, blah, blah.

OK, may actually try this today. Hope it all goes well:-\ I think to also add to my theory, it always seems better during the day, when its warmer. Or maybe it could be cos I have used it less.

I tried it, not really too successful though. I don't think the pressure was applies to directly to the sport with the books, probably needs a clamp.

Well now there seem to be enough give in it to allow for the glass to hit the LCD and make all the colours mix like on a desktop monitor, wondering if it been this bad is going to be able to damage the LCD.
I heated mine up with a blow dryer on low, folded up a paper towel many times so it was about the size of the screen border, then used a sandwich clip on top of the folded paper towel to apply pressure and avoid scratching. Result, seems better so far but I just finished the experiement. We'll see if it holds.

Guess we're back to the drawing board. It didn't hold but I have hope now. Maybe I will heat it up a little pore next time. I was pretty cautious and didn't heat it too much the first time. It's kinda nerve racking, why the hell do I have to do this in the 1st place! I don't want to return this one, it is my 4th from Best Buy. 1st had screen bleed, 2nd had no bleed but a loud vibrator that rattled, 3rd has worse bleed than 1st, 4th has a lifted screen on left side and creeks sometime when being picked up (I think it's the camera). If this were a cheap device I would accept flaws but for $500 I expect more!
I feel your pain. Everyone I show can notice the problem but say öh, its not that bad, live with it". Its really bad when you spend over $500, you expect a lot better.
Last night i was using my TF700 before i go bed i kinda hold it on the "ASUS" front branding..then i heard a click, the screen keep making the clicking sound every time i press on the last S on the asus name. that thing bothers me the whole night. my TF700 was 3 days old.
I went to best buy today 3pm and exchange it for another one...turns out i got a bad light bleeding above the home button. so i went back to best buy around 8pm to exchange again. the lady and another guy try to look where the light bleed coming out then ending up giving me an exchange with out giving me a hard time. I open the new tf700 inside bestbuy (in-front of the bestbuy employees) i tried to see if i got more bleeding..i still seeing the light bleed near the home button. decided to go home to see if i got worst light bleeding this time... since bestbuy store is pretty bright. I got home and YES i got the worst light bleeding of all the tf700 (3) i got. i will return the tf700 tomorrow or exchange it with IPAD 3.
Sucks that i just purchased 20ft HDMI and Slim case for the TF700. thats $40 of accessories. (both on the way to me)

The people at best buy are going to think I'm insane. I returned my clicking one, just to get one with bad screen bleed in the lower left hand corner again. I know bleedless units exist, I had one. It just clicked and the screen flexed. Between the 5 units (yes 5) that I've had, not one has gotten everything right. I would have gotten a Note by now but I have a dock that I want to take advantage of. Maybe I'll just sell.... This is ridiculous. I really just want a 100% working tf700.
I know too that theres a GOOD TF700 is out there... thats why im not settling for the 1 with flaw. I purchased the Note 10.1 last Aug.19 exchange it for tf700 the next day. that TF700 was GOOD until my son dropped it on a carpeted floor and then the TF700 showed some light bleeding so decide to get my money back the next day... purchased another TF700 which is the 1 that click--- Story ^ up there.

Mine is perfect, from BestBuy in Boston. It is a Amethyst Grey 32GB C7 unit . What exact model/month are the ones you are reporting with problems? That could be a clue. Like, are they 64GB? Gold? C6?
All Gray, all C, all 32gb..... Got a new one that is pretty flawless so far, knock on wood. Took long enough. No clicks, no bleed, no flex. This is what all I wanted, geez.....
It's okay guys. I'm going to be exchanging my 700t, the 7th time now.
Good luck on #7, #6 was the keeper for me. Best Buy is pretty great about returns....

I'm thinking twice about buying the dock. I know its amazing but I've heard reviews about the screen breaking because of the tablet being docked. Comments and thoughts will be highly appreciated.
Its fine. I would most certainly get it. Imo these issues are from a minority of people. I for one have had no issues. I have also owned the Prime for 6 months and had no problems with the keyboard damaging my screen. Just watch what your doing and you should be fine.

I was hesitant when I bought mine for the exact same reason. But I believe those with the issues are in the minority or Asus would have a class action lawsuit against them. And I"m sure Asus has learned from its mistakes, as the issue appears to be far more common on the Prime than the TF300 and I've yet to see a single case of it on the TF700 that wasnt caused by something else (ex. a lose screw, falling damage). Gorilla Glass 2 is supposed to be more flexible than OG Gorilla Glass, so I'm sure that also helps things.
Just make sure to open from the center and not the sides to lessen the stress on the glass, and hopefully nobody will have issues.
i think people are picking up the tablet/dock using the corner of the screen.
I can see how the weight of the dock could flex the glass enough to crack if handled this way.
Thank you all for your thoughts, will consider it now more . Also should I worry with the screen lifting issue? Is not much on mine just on one corner. And sorry if I sound like a quality control freak jajaja.

As long as its not starting to come apart and loosen further you should be okay. I heard that these FHD screens are thicker then your Standard screens so I guess its normal. Definitely return it is it gets worse.

A square trade warranty makes this concern go away... the Dock is totally worth the risk even without the S.T.W.
I initially had the Transformer Prime with the dock, when I jumped ship to the Infinity I stayed with the same dock. It is working great with it, no need to force the dock, fits in perfectly. No scratches to the tablet either.

I put the tablet with the dock in a neoprene sleeve in my backpack. I took it with me on 5 airplanes, 2 busses and all around Berlin (walking around). It's been slung up and down off my shoulder and back shoved under the seat in front of me and pressed up agains a laptop and books, headphones, bottles, etc. So far (knock on wood!) it's been fine no cracks or anything.
I do plan on getting Squaretrade though.
