Curious if anyone has any information on the VRALG1 firmware? Im having pretty bad connection issues and hearing mixed reports of the new OTA helping.
Not interested in rooting the phone - just looking for completely stock firmware image. Have checked on samfirmware.com but they don't seem to have it. A few other folks have posted here on XDA that they have LG1 installed completely stock....where did you guys get it? It doesn't seem to be released OTA.....yet.
Thanks much in advance
Did you read the post by nosympathy? His is odexed but stock other than that. I haven't seen where anyone has captured the ota and posted the zip. Sorry.

Hi to all!
I'm a new member here and I'm hoping that you guys could help me with my simple question. I'm very new with Android OS since I've been an iPhone user for the past 2 years. So here it is:
I just bought an UNLOCKED AT&T SGH-i727 from a store here in SAIPAN, MP and I'm planning to update my Gingerbread 2.3.5 to 2.3.6. Will it lose the UNLOCK if I do it? I believe the phone is NOT ROOTED and it was just unlock using an UNLOCK CODE. Also, when I tried to check for SOFTWARE UPDATE it says like my SGH-i727's firmware is up to date which is GINGERBREAD 2.3.5 but I believe there is 2.3.6 already as I saw on my friend's i727. Any idea?
PLEASE HELP. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
You won't lose unlock.
Yes there is an update. You have to be sure you have stock 3e recovery and all bloat intact and nothing frozen. You may not see the update right away. It might take a while.
Why you would want a stock update, I don't know.

Thanks for your response.
And that's the problem I don't have anything that you've said, idk where go get them. Could you help me with that?

Ok...do you know the difference between a custom recovery like cwm and the stock 3e recovery?
If you search the general section I have a stock tar hosted there. Sammobile stock tar should find it

I upgraded through odin from VRALG2 to VRALG1, just wanted to know if it's possible to downgrade back to 2 if i ever choose to and how would i do this? i am rooted and have the bootloader unlocked. thanks.
Get the lf2 file and update the same way you flashed lg1. You're just flashing radios so shouldn't affect anything else.

thank you for your quick replies. so far my s3 is fine after a day with VRALG1, no signal issues, might be improved actually, but just in case i wanted to ask.
Glad you made this thread. I was holding off updating my vrlf2 radio as well. Thanks this helped me too. Still scared to flash it though haha

so vral1 is better than 2?
I found it to be better for me but reading it sounds like depending on where you live might matter...

it is scary but as long as you can downgrade then you are okay. where i live i have solid 3g/4g coverage for miles and miles but i do notice a small difference, and i think my wifi connection is more solid as well.
Hi everyone,
My verizon galaxy s3 right now has a baseband of I535VRLHE.
First I was wondering which baseband is most recent, I have heard of MB1, MF1, etc. I know where to get these software updates but I have not found out how to actually update the baseband. Right now, I am jumping between many roms but as of this moment I am on an unofficial cm 10.1 build. They suggest getting on MF1 modem, but I really have no idea how do it.
Thanks for the help,
PS: I looked for quite a while so please don't tell me to keep looking or something like that.

Flash in recovery, baseband updates are always in alphabetical order, most recent is mf1.

Do I need to wipe anything for flashing it? Also, its ok to flash baseband updates with a custom rom installed?
And these will make my radios stronger, and thus my signal stronger?\
Thanks

no
yes
theres really no answer to pt3
What modem do you guys suggest flashing to. Right now I am on I535VRLHE and by my understanding that is extremely outdated. So just to make sure again no wiping anything, no formatting, no anything? And I should be flashing an update in either twrp or cwm? I know these questions sound stupid when I said I flash roms daily, but I really do not want to risk bricking my beloved s3 hahaha.
Thanks for taking your time to help me.
from what i understand the modem that works best for you will depend mostly on location. they might get better as they update, but i get teh same signal on the latest as I did on a modem from a few updates ago.
you can download the all in one packages here
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/34053-firmware-vrbmf1-modemrpmtzsbl-verizon-sgs3-sch-i535/
reboot into recovery, then flash, reboot back to the ROM. if youre worried, make a backup. things can always go wrong i guess.
Ok thank you again, another question haha sorry. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1788313&page=6 In this thread, the first few pages say to flash via odin and what not none of them confirm being able to flash through recovery. Have you ever flashed a radio through recovery?
Also what advantages does an AIO have compared to just the modem.

You need to do a Google search for "i9300 xda" because we can not help you in the SCH-I535 forums.

Hey, everyone.
I've been searching around XDA and RootzWiki to try and see how I would be able to root my S III.
I found this one thread that recommended to downgrade to the VRBLK3 firmware.
I attempted to flash it VIA Odinv3.07 and the firmware update (or downgrade) failed.
I don't know what is causing it, probably a patched hole. But, when I rebooted my phone, it told me that the OS was "broken" and I needed to use Verizon's repair utility (I just flashed back the 4.3 MD5 and all my stuff came back).
My question is...
Does anyone know how to root the Verizon S III from 4.3?
OR
Does anyone know why Odin is failing on the downgrade?
Any help or comments are appreciated greatly.
Thanks!

Alright, thank you for the information. :good:
I thought it was an old sticky from before and it just went over my head.
Long story short.
Was running a 4.1.2 which worked well but wanted to go to KK.
Installed Gummy M3 4.4.4, absolutely love it, no issues except cell signal seems considerably worse than before. Baseband is VRBLMD3.
Not sure if firmware/baseband is accurate for 4.4 or if there's something I can flash to try and rectify. A little confused overall on the whole verizon modem thing. I had a captivate on ATT before and I just flashed any of the 30 different modems via recovery to help with signal issues.
Would appreciate any help.
I've read more than one topic on this same issue. Not sure what the solution is however. Maybe update the modem to something new? I wouldn't go beyond ML1 however

Yes.
Flash mf1 aio then ml1 modem. Should give a better signal.
All the links to newer modems appear to be dead. I looked around quite a bit. I'd be grateful if someone can provide a dropbox link or similar.
Edit: It appears invisiblek's site is down and that's where all the AIO packages are linked to. Does anyone have any links to other mirrors?

Is that modem only? Don't I need to flash an aio first?
Thanks for finding that btw

You should update mf1 first, or find MB1 aio. Then flash ml1 modem.

I think I found it. I just googled mf1.aio.zip and found this guys post. It doesn't have AIO in the name though... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=52434920&postcount=2
Think it's legit?
