How's the light bleed on other people's TF700s? I have it on mine in areas around 3 of the edges. Really noticeable during boot-up, but barely noticeable 95% of the time doing other stuff. I assume this phenomena is random and typical for these types of displays?
I have it on both bottom corners of my display...does anyone have this on the their unit? I also just discovered the clicking on the lower left corner too. If some of you are getting the light bleed and click free units, I may send mine back for a replacement.
I have no light bleed on my Infinity. The digitizer does click slightly on one corner if I push it down, but that doesn't bother me, the rest of the unit is flawless.

Within my family I have 3 ipads and 2 Transformer Primes. Both Primes have light bleed around all edges of screen. The 3 ipads were clean and no bleed at all. I also had 4 RMA Prime tablets, all with some light bleed. Don't know if it is a QC issue or manufacturing issue but I just boil it down to Asus using low quality LCD screens. I'm starting to get dead pixels on my current Prime now, which didn't have any. That would be my 5th RMA.
I took a picture in the dark with the tablet's camera to generate a black screen. I can see some yellow lights along the edges. More disturbing is a blotch of brightness covering the right side of the black screen. Anyone see something like this? The vertical line pattern you see on the blotch is really there as well.

I have light bleed in two spots (ironically, the same two spots as my Touchpad) but they're barely noticable on boot and not at all noticable once you're in Android.

I too have some minor light bleed along the edges (mainly the bottom while in landscape mode). Not noticeable during normal use though. Normally, light bleed drives me crazy, but it's really only noticeable during boot-up and since the TF700 seems stable (unlike my TF101 under ICS), I won't be rebooting much, so I should never notice it...
However, that big long vertical line of light bleed in your picture does concern me (it's usually only near the edges). I think I *would* RMA that one!
I would have hoped that Asus had fixed these light bleed issues by now! Like someone else said, the problem doesn't seem to be as rampant on iPad devices, so it can be minimized...

Can someone explain to me the "light bleed" issue please?
I know that sounds dumb, but I don't think I have ever seen that, and when I do pick up my TF700 this weekend, I would like to know what to look for cause I am not seeing what you guys are showing in the pics above.
So has anyone checked to see if they have a similar cloud of light bleed like mine? It's a shame, because the display is fantastic overall.

If you have a generally huge area of back light bleed, chances are you're eligible for returning the faulty product.
But it's up to you to decided, because with this kind of issue, it affects color, and viewing angle.
Which makes the display not worth the money of what you paid for.

The pictures in the post immediately before yours (although posted 5 hours earlier), shows the light bleed very prominently. The lighter areas around the edges are the "bleeding" areas. Asus seems to have QC issues with screen edges on tablets. I hope the one I pick up next weekend does not have the same problem.
I suspect that 'some' light bleed for this type of screen is the norm, and getting one w/o any would be the exception. As long as it isn't excessive I wouldn't obsess over it. How often do you use the tablet at 100% brightness in a dark room anyway?

I agree - typically, light bleed drives me nuts, but it only seems noticeable on the boot-up sceeen, for the most part, so I can live with it.
If you start trying to exchange units for minor light bleed, you may end up with something much worse (dead pixels, bad hardware, etc).

I have light bleed, a burning smell coming through the speaker, and the clicking sound in the lower left corner of the tablet.
It's going back. Taking no chances.
I've just noticed during boot-up four spots of light bleed. It's kinda sad.

Guys, starting with the Prime Asus started to use much less expensive / cheaper screen manufacturing. There will be light bleed in EVERY screen on an Asus tablet. You just have to find one that has minimal light bleed that you can live with. The Asus tablets I have all have light bleed, around the edges. If you have it in the middle of the screen return that tablet right away. Do NOT RMA it because you will get back a worse condition tablet with more light bleed and other issues. Asus has to be a pro in the RMA business by now.

For what it's worth, a lot of iPad's have some light bleed as well (Apple users complain it as well). I certainly don't think this problem is specific to Asus. My TF101 had *zero* light bleed (although the loaner TF101 that Asus sent me had *tons* of light bleed). It all depends on how noticeable it is (if at all) during *normal* use.

My first TF700 had bad light bleed. Just got my replacement today. Still minor bleeding, but I can live with it.

So, I was lucky enough to get my transformer today. Though I do love it, is anyone else having these problems?
-Light bleed
-Creaking/flex on the right side of the tablet, but not on the left
-Some dead pixels(not very noticeable, but I was able to catch around 3-4)

I have minor light bleeding but no creaking or flex.. How are you checking for dead pixel?
There are a few other threads about the flexing and the light bleed. I haven't experienced any dead pixels, but there is a specific paragraph on it in the warranty i.e how many and how close together in order to qualify for a warranty repair.
My Transformer is flexing at the top rim near the camera. I don't really think its a huge problem though. Just feels weird if you grip there.

my main concern is that on day one i had no bleed nor creaking. but 6 days later now i have both. what happens a month from now? the paint flakes?
i don't plan on keeping it after kal-el tablets come out, but dammit i'd like for it to last that long.
i just picked up the pre-order from best buy that i was going to cancel b/c i wanted to see if it had less issues. the new one actually has more bleed than my current but no creaking. i'm pretty sure it'll start creaking if i put more handling on it.
Makes me wanna believe they glued the rim on thats why its creaking when the glue fails to stick ;o
light bleed.
No, the pixels and light bleed arnt anything super major, but I dont know if I am ocd, but the the creaking seems to be enough to bother me. The ride side of the tablet is perfectly fine and very sturdy feeling, but I feel like the left is just not the same. Would this be okay to be sent in for warranty or exchanged? Should I just return it and wait?
Man... lots and lots of issues. I know the majority of people without issues, don't report. But the number of new cases keep expanding every day that goes by. I'm still waiting for my TF101, but I'm more and more skeptical.

it has to be. it would be terrible if it's screws getting loose already. I can actually squeeze the front and back together on my left corner. the back is no longer flush with the bezel like the right side is. the right is only giving slight squeaks. hoping it doesn't get worse.
I hate to say this but this is typed out on my iPad. I really hate posting in this forum on my android tablets bc of the lag.

I would definitely return it if something doesn't feel right. I'm very particular about things like that, i wouldn't want to use it everyday knowing that my device is potentially defected.
Yeah, return it. I'd like to think it sends a message to these manufacturers to beef up their quality control.
well i found another defect when i was at the parking lot at best buy...the back casing it self was not snapped inn you can see the side next to my pinky finger that the back casing is not snapped inn and i can see the triangle tab that locks it in.. my first HTC device/second android phone and this HTC was the baddest one ever..had dead pixels on note..
new one dont have the back casing out popped out its snugged inn like its suppose to be and no warp sides on the side screen..as you can see from the other pic its not humped out due to not snapped inn..never dropped the phone or anything i baby my devices took a good look at the new one before i walked out best buy
im going to have a little talk with HTC but now my device is good but still quality control needs to be up to par with a flag ship device

It is curved, he meant instead of the edge being rough it curves into the screen. He did not mean curved like the Galaxy Nexus. So he was indeed correct.

Yeah, it's on my replacement as well. I don't notice it in daylight, just now outside in the dark, lol. If I tilt the phone to the left, I can see a very thin sliver of light, about an inch long, on the bottom right side.
I really think that's just how it is... If you look closely at the 4 corners of the glass, you'll notice that the bottom right corner is raised *slightly* higher than the others. It's like maybe 0.5mm higher. It bugged me at first too, but when I looked at the demo models at AT&T store, they were all like that :/

hello,
Are you satisfied with the tf300t screen quality? I think the black on mine is a little uneven with really faint lines when the screen is completely black.do you think it is normal?
thanks
It would be way better if it weren't for the large areas of light bleed around the edges and corners! Other than than, I'm satisfied.
I get loads of backlight bleeding on mine. The screen as a whole (including the glass surface) seems a step backward from the TF101.
I just started noticing light bleed on the left and right sides of mine. Nothing major, only really noticeable on the loading screen and to a lesser extent, my primarily black wallpaper (a style I tend to favor).
Other than that, I have no complaints. Although, if I fire up Angry Birds Space and put it right next to my girlfriends iPad 2, it definitely does not look quite as nice.

My old Prime had some noticable bleeding several places around the edges, but that was only visible when displaying black and at a high brightness.
I've always hated light bleeding, and also uneven black-levels, but I always get devices with these errors no matter what... I've had 6 different LCD-TV's, and every one of them has had various problems with light bleeding / uneven backlight / black levels - so i started to think it wasn't possible to get it perfect, and that it was only me who was being too demanding.
However, my TF300T seems perfect - guess I'm lucky with this one
I just bought this tablet and there is one spot (about the size of my thumb, in the lower left quadrant of the screen) that shows up lighter against a dark background-- for ex. when it's booting up.
It's bothering me but I haven't decided if I'll attempt to get it exchanged (I could get a worse one?).
well,I just found a tiny little dot on the screen. It doesn't seem to be a dead pixel but a tiny hole in the polarizer...
On my second device. Traded my 16 for a 32gbversion when they first released them. My 16 screen was perfect out of the box, no bleed, no dead pixels. My 32 looks like a shop light when booting but i don't notice it during use. Watch out,the screens scratch soooo easy. Definitely pick up a screen guard, this isn't gorilla glass.

i can confirm this as well although it doesn't bother me at all, the scratches are light so you don't see them when the screen is on. i'd rather have a few light scratches then a screen protector since i always get lint or dust stuck under the protector, even when i'm extra carefull and this bothers me more than scratches.

You could probably open it up to get the dust out but it's generally not an advisable thing to do.

Like the previous poster said ,is possible but not advisable as you have high chances to break the glass or screen.I did some repair myself on a few devices and is not easy to remove a glued glass like that (at least i guess is glued as i can't see any other way) and even after repair succed the final result is not like the original. Also if is glued you will need to use a hair dryer or a heat cannon and these tools alone are enogh to cause some serious damage to the screen...is your call buddy, but is better waitting (yeah i know is hard) than break it and loose your money.

Dust under mine as well. At first I thought it was a dead pixel, but its a nice black dot that sits slightly above the lcd so I guess its dust. At least its not in the center. Mine may be going back for other reasons anyway. Wonder if the next one will be worse...
Hi all,
It seems Asus has some serious quality issues. The first TF700T I got had one dead pixel, few dots of dust under the screen and dock didn't fit. The second had three dead pixels and clicking sound on the left side of the screen (while pressing back & home buttons, really irritating!). The third one is almost perfect, but has two little dots of dust in the left upper & lower corner - I thought these are dead pixels, but they don't disapper while the screen is off, so I guess it is dust or some other thing between glass and LCD screen. I think I will stick with that one, as dock is working, no annoying clicking and no dead pixels. If you use your tablet you will get a lot of dust on the screen very quickly, so I won't bother so much about dust or dead pixels. Anway I'm little disappointed with the quality of Asus tablets. Below you can see how it looks like. The screen is off, red arrow indicates dust dot under the screen, other white dots is regular dust on the screen (which you will get anyway after 1-2 minutes of usage!).

Sorry mate but i'm not fully agree with you, imo you should replace that... I also "closed an eye" on the "clicking issue" and some other cosmetic defects but for no reason i would accept your issue. The screen is maybe the best and most expensive part of this tablet so yes, when you buy it the screen should be crystal clear, think about lt.
Also is not true that after some time you will get dust under the screen for sure, not with a good quality device.

Hi, I get your point, but how many times should I replace my device so I can finally play with it ? Some people replaced it 5-6 times and at the end they got device with worse issues. I think this two small dots are acceptable because you will get dust on your screen very quickly (not under the screen, but on top of it) and the visual effect is the same. After few minutes I stopped noticing it. So sure, I can replace it once again, but I'm simply afraid I will get more faulty device and I'm also tired of sending it to the store once again. It has been almost two weeks I paid for this device and I still didn't have an opportunity to play with it, so I think I won't risk replacing it again
PS. I also forgot to mention really bad light bleed that was present in the first two tabs, this one also has it, but on acceptable level. Anyway it is really annoying you need to be lucky to get fault-free tablet.

Yeah, i know what you mean, sometimes is real pain to return a device and that's why i always try to buy electronics from local stores so i can go back in store and get the replacement right away.

The Prime is very similar to the Infinity as far as design. Same way to open it too from the looks of it.
Here is the link of the Prime teardown. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474391
Now being brave enough to under take something like this is a different story haha.
I haven't seen anyone do it yet.

Not only asus , 3 of my galaxy tab from different countries /factories have dust under screen (galaxy note 10.1 from austeria ) galaxy tab 10.1 from Egypt and galaxy tab 7 from uae both of the three have dust under the screen
Hi, I had my note for about a week and a half and I noticed a lot of light bleeding through the plastic around the screen. Is this normal or should I be worried? Thank, RandomAwesomeGuy.
I never had any light bleed on my Note. I got it for two weeks now and everything seems fine. Maybe try to contact Samsung support or anything. As I've read around here, light bleeds are pretty unusual with Samsung's builds.

Same
I have the same problem. Not really sure about it but i can't return mine until I fill out the warrenty card, it doesn't really bother meq though.
There are reports of light bleed in notes unfortunately most of the tablet suffer from this if its new tablet just get it replaced. Though light bleed is not a sign of hardware failiure but note not put together properly
It is pretty bad, there is a lot of blotches on the screen and the plastic rim is bleeding light. Like I said, the tablet is about 1 and a half weeks old, and I still have the plastic protection around the sides and back . Does any one know if Bestbuy will exchange it?
Please post a photo to see what you mean.
