Well I used it for three weeks and I have to say it was an OK phone but Sprint had it overpriced...I had to pay $450 for it. I was not eligible for the $100 rebate as my $30 SERO plan was too cheap!
I talked to Sprint retentions and they said NO CAN DO! I told them I was leaving...and they still said NO.
So then I thought to myself...is Sprint CRAZY! Why would they think I would pay $450 for a phone!!!
Plus the phone has many bugs that they need to hammer out.
Good luck everyone with your phones...I think I am jumping the ship and getting an iphone.
LOL, see ya
So Long!
This space for rent.
Thanks for an informative post.
hmmmm
$450 plus $30 a month
$199 plus $80 a month for 2 years
$1200 MORE for the service and its crappy service at that.
hahaahahhahahahahahahahahahahahhaahahah

man, ive got to say this is probably the worst time to give up on TP2.
the unlocker for CDMA tp2s should be out these few days...and you're giving up now. ...
maybe if you weren't so mathematically/intellectually challenged you would have just got the 70 dollar credit first...then waited to pounce. Paid 129.99 no rebates on sero myself with that citibank deal. Even without the 199 price 280 plus 30 a month is killer.
Got the same deal as you and throw in the $ that sprint gave me for my old phone and it was $101 with all taxes... still on SERO and $101 for the phone... can't beat that...
come on dude, look at it in the long run. you'll be better off with tp2. screw sprint just buy the damn phone from someone on ebay in a few months.

Awesome line!
Im not gonna bash you cause i know you are doing this out of frustration... but i have SERO also $30 a month and i got it for $199 no rebates. Just keep trying and hold on a little longer. I found my TP last year for $200 on ebay... maybe you can find a good deal. Hang in there and look at the long run buddy

Eeek... You shouldn't have said the 'i' word. The guys on here are kind of dicks when it comes to that. I personally don't care for them (iPhones), but my roommate has a new one and it's a pretty slick device. Part of the early adopter fee is bugs. Give the device at least a quarter before giving up on it. I'd recommend waiting if you can, unless there is some way you can get your money back. If you are unhappy with the device because of the price, then it's your fault for paying waaaayyy too much for it. If you are unhappy with the device because of the bugs, then give it a few weeks. HTC and the programmers do a good job at fixing these things. If you just plain don't like the device, then absolutely ditch it. There isn't a one size fits all for phones and I can fully understand why someone would hate this one. I don't really like it at all in its stock format either, but I didn't like my other HTC devices until they were unlocked. It does seem kind of silly to buy a device and have to wait for programmers to hack it before it's useful. Ahhh WRT...
Ignore all the iHate. People ***** about how close minded the iCrew is and then turn around with the same close minded name calling. If the shoe doesn't fit then don't walk around *****ing about it; throw it out. =)

WOW..... I think that was one of the stupidest posts I ever read. The Touch Pro 2 is one of the best phones out. And once we have the unlocker, the possiblities will be endless. Go get an Iphone and be stuck with exactly what Apple gives you. I will take the Touch Pro 2 anyday. And yes, I paid full price for the phone and wanted able to get the $100 dollar mail in rebate because it was only available for those who got the 2 year price.
Laughing hard...
Well I hope you enjoy the iWHATEVER...I used to work for at&t and got nothing but complaints about it. The 3G on at&t is so spotty its not worth switching. I hope you enjoy spending your time with an all eye candy phone and a crappy network.
As for the Touch Pro 2...I love it and nothings going to change that.
And I don't want to be told what I can install on my phone and what I can't. Say if I want the Google Voice App on my device then I'm going to add it. Don't want THE MAN to be able to say no.
dUDE THERE I=S A PROMO CODE IT IS BS220 CALL SPRINT AND TELL THEM YOU RECIEVED IT IN THE MAIL GIVING THE PHONE TO YOU FOR 319.99 NO MAIL IN REBATE.
I HAD TO ARGUE WITH THEM FOR LIKE 2 HOURS BUT GOT THE DEAL. ITS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR SMALL BUSINESSES, BUT I GOT THEM TO APPLY THE PROMO CODE. ITS ONLY GOOD TILL THE 30TH THOUGH

I could not have said this any better. This guy was probably one of those people who wanted to degrade this awesome device and turn it into a replica of the iphone. I cant stand that phone not only because of the service but also because of all the limitations. Yea they have alot of apps, but try downloading it on their inferior network. Good luck with that. Plus windows mobile has been around alot longer and has so many apps as to be uncountable. The price justifies its greatness but I payed 250 with the rebate only because my contract wasnt up yet. Still less than he was paying. Oh well.
I've decided to completely abandon t-mobile and I plan to NOT pay my last bill and then fight them if it shows up on my credit report. Here is a quick summary:
1. When I got the phone, it was advertised as also running ATT 3G. That was a lie.
2. Phone also was advertised with FM radio. Not true.
3. t-mobile was never able to provide a working unlock code despite repeated attempts.
4. Phone had screen bleed issues. Went to store for replacement, but they were out of stock, so they told me to wait till after 14 days & call cust-serv for replacement. Needless to say this eventually came back to haunt me because now all they say is 'you only had 14 days to return it'!
5. Over the period of the next couple of months - I was shipped 4 empty boxes from t-mobile. Finally got one with a phone in it. Not only was it a refurb unit - it had the same problem as the original one I got.
6. I finally resorted to calling the corporate office and said I just wanted my money back for the phone and to cancel the contract. After 45 minutes of hassling the end result was that the only thing they would do is allow me to mail the phone to corporate headquarters and they would credit my account. Well guess what- I don't want anything to do with t-mobile so that is a no go. I told them if that's the way they plan to handle it then I will keep both phones & never pay the bill.
Lastly - I called LG directly to see if they would fix the phone. Making another long, sad story short - they will not. Their response is the 'screen is the type that will bleed like that - it's normal'.
I've never been so dissatisfied or disgusted with a business my whole life.
Not paying your bill is not a good idea. No technology is perfect. Plus everybody gets run arounds once in their life at any company. Sorry to hear about your experience, but not paying your bill will only create more hassle for you.

While I understand your point I'm not paying for something I didn't get either. Being a senior systems analyst I realize more than most that technology isn't prefect - but that has nothing to do with replacing a defective product. I'm prepared to deal with the hassle it could possibly create on my credit report as I've already spoken to a couple of experts including a CPA about what to expect and how to handle any potential issues that arise. While it might create more hassle for me at least I'll know I didn't just roll over and let them stiff me 100's of dollars. Frankly I will sleep better at night. Furthermore if more people were assertive like this perhaps t-mobile (and LG for that matter) would not be so quick to screw over the next guy. Everyone & their dog knows these G2X's were a) falsely advertised and b) most were defective right out of the box. What they should do is admit fail and offer recalls on all the phones. But why do that when they can just give run-around to customers? This attitude they have "like what ya gonna do about it huh? can't do anything can ya? just buy another phone if you dont like it" crap has got to stop and I for one will not be bullied by these a-holes any longer.
First off buying a phone from t-mobile to use on att is stupid.
FM radio, really is it that big of a deal?
screen bleed....I have it. And never see it except on boot up
As for the 14 days, you knew better and could have went to another store or just returned it all together.
As for the empty boxes. Well that sucks.

good points, but again, not paying your bill does not impact T-Mobile or LG. But it will impact you. With today's credit situation, intentionally damaging your credit is not a good tradeoff. Why not file a complaint with the BBB or your Statue Attorney General. At the least, the tradeoff for you is better. First, you keep your credit score. Second, the companies in question will be required to respond. It will be an irritant to them....but, right now, you cannot hope to regain your money, your contract freedom or any other satisfaction. Being an irritant might be the best you can get.
BTW...I never saw any advertisement about AT&T bands. Be careful on this one...have written proof, or understand completely what you claim.
Good luck with that ... I personally wouldn't want a $100 phone bill or whatever amount messing with my credit score. Sure you can fight it, but that sounds like a hassle. Maybe better to just pay your bill, cancel your line, cut your losses and move on. You're gonna waste a lot of energy on this (already have it sounds like) and it won't profit you a thing except more frustration.
Just my 2¢ from experience.

If it were to affect my credit score (and at this point I doubt they'll try that) it would be such a teeenee weenne thing on it I don't think it would hurt me hardly at all and I've already got a plan in place to have it removed should it it appear. The other option is to sue and of course that would cost more money and more time than this.

Well I think you did. I've had cellphones for 20 years and haven't had a problem before that I couldn't get worked out by talking to someone in customer service or at a store. Selling the phone and paying the bills and early termination fee means I'd be LETTING them screw me out of about $800 ...because they sold me a defective unit and won't a) fix it b) replace it with a working one or c) just give me my money back. If this is a 'typical cellphone customer experience' then I think WE ALL have a problem. I'm not giving these bozo's one red cent and if it means something pops up on my credit record for 3 days until I get it removed (as I said I'm ready) then so be it.

OP, I completely agree with what you've set out to do. Companies like T-mobile and LG need to correctly market and manufacture their products, and respond better to defects and mishaps after they occur. I had to exchange my first G2X (which had HEAVY screen bleed and non-working wifi), but somehow lucked out on a good unit the second time around. The hoops I had to jump through to accomplish that exchange led me to lose a lot of respect for both companies, and even more so after reading some of the truly horrid experiences on this forum.
If T-mobile and LG had worked out a coherent exchange program, made accurate announcements of software updates (GB anyone...), and overall handled customer service better, I could've written off the G2X's problems as a normal consequence of being on the cutting edge technologically. Instead, I'm stuck pondering the inability of either company to own up to their mistakes and deal with them.
All in all, best of luck to you; I hope everything works out in your (and our) favor in the end.

Appeasement is what spawned the reign of Hitler. I personally like this guy's spine in the matter. We need more people like him. He seems to understand his financial limitations and if he thinks he has the money & effort to spend then why not let him..?
We should all be doing the same as this guy if it wasn't for the economic restraints... that and this country has somewhat more pressing issues like corruption to iron out before we can get to consumer protection unfortunately.

I know I messed up by not getting the 5 dollar insurance. I sure am pissed of at myself now. To make matters worse I purchased my triumph on Ebay. lol. Does any cellphone repair store deal with these phones already, I might have to check sometime this week But is there any website where maybe I can purchase a gorilla glass screen replacement. I would gladly take on the repair challenge myself. Thanks everyone! Hopefully someone can help and I would greatly appreciate it!
(Edit) A nice VM chick allowed me to get it insured, surprisingly I still had time. If anyone wants to ill open it up for sure when I receive my new one.... for science!!!
Not to rub salt in the wound but I seen a bigger screen and figured I'd be the first one to break it so I got the insurance. I got mine from Best Buy. Might be a dumb question but will VM warranty it?
I believe BB only warrants the phone usually for 30 days, I'm not to sure. Regarding VM as soon as you sign up, you often receive a text that lets you add on insurance for 5 extra dollars. GET IT!! Because as of now my best hope is to just go to a random repair shop and see if they can even fix it.

http://imgur.com/a/fMIeG Here ya go! Basically the touchscreen still functioned but about 80% of the top screen was not working at all. Then the battery died and it did not want to take a charge anymore. Basically both issues are unrelated it just so happens that Motorola really rushed this thing, and you can tell what a terrible job they did looking at the whole sub-forum. I wish I would have avoided spending 300 bucks and would have grabbed the Optimus V instead, I never hear anything bad about it. And being a college student I cant afford a 100$ monthly plan.

I thought I read somewhere that VM warrants their phones for a year, no matter where you buy them. I could be wrong, and it could be for manufacturer's defects only. I'll look for the link when I get home.

From the VM site:

One-Year Warranty
All mobile phones purchased directly from Virgin Mobile, or one of our authorized resellers, include a one-year warranty from the original equipment manufacturer. If you experience an equipment malfunction, call Virgin Mobile At Your Service at 1-888-322-1122 and we will arrange for a replacement mobile phone.
I seriously doubt that would cover a cracked lcd screen. But I guess it doesn't hurt to try.

It might cost a bit since some of the newer phones are coming with the lcd and the glass as one unit...
I might be wrong and only need to purchase the glass...

Can it be? Something for free from AT$T?
My original thought is that I've heard a lot of talk both on and off the board on the lack of build quality with the 16GB model. Is AT$T quietly fessing up to issues? So I have a warranty exchange going on (connectivity issues) and instead of shipping me out a standard apples for apples replacement, they have shipped out a 32GB device . Sweet. So I'm curious if others have had similar happening or I just had me a sweetheart on the other side...

There are many reasons. One, could actually just be a typo, and two, could be because there's something special they want people to have in the 32Gb model. Enough to warrant you exchange for an easy transfer. Would be interesting to see if your comes with an OTA
I don't see any company being generous my opinion is that it was a mistake on their part and they shipped you wrong unit.

You must have got a rep that got ALOT of love the night before, cause SHE HOOKED YA UP BRO. Keep in mind the reps have a little authority, to upgrade a issue. bet they are doing to draw customers in from some of the negativity that is being thrown on them lately. Send her a Chili's gift card..haha

I surprisingly have had pretty good luck with them. My upgrade wasn't due until October and I just called up and was honest with the lady. I told her my Iphone 5 was terrible and too small and it gave me headaches trying to read on it. I rely on my phone for email on the go and it just isn't working. I told her I couldn't afford a phone out of pocket but I would like to stay with att. I told her that I could afford to eat my ETF but didn't want to. She put me on hold for two minutes and said she would upgrade me but I had to do it with her on the phone.
They even waived shipping and activation so it only came to 217 total.
OT but does anyone know the restocking fee, I kinda want to get the 32 GB?

Just tried calling AT&T. Told them that they advertised a 16gb phone and actually sold me a 9gb phone when you consider all of the bloatware that was installed. They actually played hardball with me and told me if I wanted the 32gb, I'd have to pay the restock fee and the difference between the phone. My argument was that I should be able to swap for the 32gb without paying the difference because they sold me a 9gb phone instead of the 16gb I ordered. They told me to go try to exchange it in the store or to contact Samsung. All of this to say, they are not just swapping out the 16 for the 32. I think you got lucky on this one, friend.
me too
I just asked for a replacement for issues I had. I didn't ask for anything special but, it says Samsung I337 32G BLK PHONE in the order status. Cool, but I don't believe it.
I brought my 16GB back to the AT&T store on the 14th day, they charged me the restocking fee.
Called AT&T Customer Service, asked for the 35$ restocking fee back, the $36 upgrade fee, and $10 for terrible screen protectors that I couldn't return.
The lady was extremely nice and gave me a $90 credit within a few minutes, no questions asked.
I think it's all about how you present yourself, if you are kind to the receiving person, you're good to go.
That's nothing new. I have been satisfied with AT&T customer care. But I am a enterprise member.
With 2 complaints about my sister's iPhone 4S, they gave us $250.

the video player freezes when I try to watch stuff. I had to argue to get them to exchange it. Be creative and use the online chat, always ask for a supervisor and don't take no for an answer.

Enterprise member here as well. It just pays to be nice I guess. Never complained, we chatted about build issues, and how this was the 2nd S4 to fail to recognize a SD card. I thought it funny that when taking information for the warranty exchange she cut me off when I was to answer what size S4 I had.
Turns out 3 days later, I received a 32GB model instead of the 16 I should have.

I'm guessing you have a black GS4? I guess those of us with the white versions won't get so lucky, due to no 32GB being available in white as of now. Sorry to burst anyone who owns a white GS4 bubble. .
yep
I had the same thing happen to me... bought a 16gig white S4, and had hooooorible experiences with the phone! i couldn't send a text to save my life away from wifi. Called customer service, got zero hassle and the rep told me "ok we will be sending out a 32gig black to you..." and I even corrected him with "are you sure? I had a 16 gig" and he said yep.
So I received a 32 gig model a few days later... so far im happy and haven't experienced any of the previous problems.

You sir are why everything goes up and why the restocking fee even started. Great job! You're sooo cool trying to argue for something when really all you want is a free upgrade. Will you argue your "24gb" when a "64gb" comes out?
Sigh great job again bro!

Appreciate your kindness and the sarcasm, "bro". Not trying to be cool at all. I have never had a phone where ~40% of the internal storage is taken up by bloat. You may not feel cheated, but I do. Especially when it can't be removed by the average user. I'd be fine if so much of the storage wasn't taken up by bloat I didn't ask for. So I asked, they said no. It is what it is. I'll have to live with it. I respect your opinion, but you read my intent all wrong. As far as "all you want is a free upgrade"...if I wanted the "24gb" I would have bought it outright. Att and Sammy should not force unwanted bloat on the consumer. Sarcastic posts like yours are what's wrong with this community.

Sounds sketchy...
He was asking $375 but said it was negotiable because it didn't include anything but the phone. Would it be recommended to use any micro usb charger or is there one specifically built for this phone?

Why not box or charger? Because it's probably stolen.

i can only agree with fellow XDA member.
if you buy new device (high end) you will defon keep the box... maybe the charger can kinda get lost (in work, school, or something) but defo not the box... and the price he is sellling it at is not a "steal"... so save few more bucks bro and get your hands on brand new boxed nexie.
take care...
My friend just bought a Black 32GB just the phone and cable, no box or charger, for 300$ of CL here in the Seattle area, he just made sure he checked the IMEI using Swappa.com (they have a free IMEI/ESN checker, be careful with other sites that claim to check IMEI/ESN's for you, cause some of those are just phishing for these numbers, and once you put them in, they will tell you its ok, but then copy the number themselves and use it for cloning devices, or for changing the IMEI on a blacklisted phone, to the white-listed IMEI you gave them. Also once you use a legit IMEI checker, call your service provider and tell them you are purchasing this right now and have the dude talk to them to verify this, you could also call whatever provider he was using, if any, so that way there's record of him selling. or you could just meet at one of your service providers stores. If they aren't willing to do that, and are absolutely set on not meeting there, then yea, somethings up. But I would at least try the approach I suggested cause you may end up getting a very good deal, and if not, then you didn't lose anything cause you took steps to ensure your protection, so no harm no foul.
AND NEVER GO ALONE ! Guy or Girl. I am 27, 6'3", ex-military, and a Guitarist who is well known in the local scene so most people in the area know me, but I still don't do CL deals by myself. I even have my CHL and carry either a Glock 19 Gen 2, or a FNH FNP Tactical .45 (not always, but sometimes, I am an opencarry adovacate, but i wont get into that here lol), and still dont go alone, can't stress that one enough. a dear friend of mine was raped in Tacoma, WA while trying to buy a crib for her daughter and i wish everyday that she woulda called me or one of our friends to go with...
The final bit of advice I can give, is trust your gut. Sounds cliche, but its true. If you feel like somethings off, it prolly is, and even if it isn't, is your life, or overall well-being, worth getting less then 100$ off on a phone, ya dig.
Not sure I agree with the people who say if you don't have a box, its probably stolen. I sold a phone without a box because when I bought it, the person at the t-mobile store told me that I would get a $10 bill credit if I let them recycle the box. Sounded sketchy to me, but I did actually get the credit.
And running the IMEI through swaapa just proves that it hasn't been marked as stolen YET. The seller could stop paying payments (if they have tmo) and the IMEI gets blacklisted then.

No go people. It's not about being stolen, I've had my phone stolen before and I needed to send my box and service agreement into Asurion. It could be that he has the box and may sell it but then report it stolen after the fact. I've done business on craigslist plenty of times and actually learned this the hard way about a year ago when I bought a Nexus 4 blacklisted from T-Mobile about 3 days after I bought it and was working. Always get the box with the IMEI sticker still attached when buying phones on craigslist, in most cases your better off than not.
