Has anyone gotten it to work?
I've spent the last two days researching the matter, just to find the step-by-step methods from other phones dont work because of the different folder/file layouts, or its for froyo/cm7/ics.
And the prepared files from other devices have a totally different size and the status bar doesnt show up at all.
I'm not just asking around, if there is interest, i'll share what i've gathered and we can make it happen for the a2.

I really don't know much about it, but if it is possible in Ginger Bread, then it should work for us, I know you can change the color pretty easily, but transparency would be more difficult. I'll take a look.

sure its possible, all u need is photoshop and change transparency to 100%.
but..i dont understand why, the system icons in to are going to looks funny on different color wallpapers. this is why you mainly only find lets say a status bar with only 50% transparency otherwise itll not look right depending on the wallpaper. you would have to change the icons as well and give them a black border glow in photoshop to make it look decent on any background.

Tried that. Before, and again a couple of days ago. It don't work too well depending on your transparency... the notifications get smeared and kind of stain the stat bar with their image. But, I have accomplished it at one point, and I remember it also is clear when your lockscreen is closed (meaning the lockscreen image is only meant to go up to the bottom of the status bar, so you got clearness at the top). I'll try to find my screen shots of it when I get home...
And, the status bar is a .9.png, so you have to be careful not to turn the 1 pixel border transparent also - wait, or maybe that was the trick? I just broke the 9patch?
Dont think it'd look bad around 50%.
I still intend to get this done, but on ics now, the thick black bars also anger me on the bottom of the webtop interface

The buttom bar hiding in webtop i got it to work, (manually) but its not as good as roms that autohide it like cm9 ones i see on some samsungs.. so id rather not post it unless someone asks for it
As far as the Transparent Status bar goes... well, ive spent another day on this, and i get so close but never manage to finish the deal.
route #1
They say its possible in ROM Toolbox Pro.
This guy got it working on his RAZR, (the icon menu, this is important because the transparency toggle is in the icon menu.).
I tried it, but it said "your framework isnt compatible with rom manager icon changer ... you can turn off the check in settings".
Well, I turned off the check and it still says the same thing. And the guy with the razr with probably the same framework got it running...
(Tried with close to latest rom toolbox... i tried to install an older one but my phone says insufficent application space and i have 4.2g free)
route #2
I tried the manual way too, with the tools and frameworks described in the atrix2 thread
Heres the guide for that.
All went well except for the said line
const/16 v16, 0x4
we have to change to
const/16 v16, -0x3
is const/4 v5, 0x4
by default.
I changed it anyway to -0x3 and im greeted with no status bar upon boot.
I can compile decompile an apk and push back and it works failry well, so its not that im not doing it properly, (i dont think you have to sign system files btw ? i tried it both ways) but there might be a chance for that...
there is a const/16 line tough, but its v value is different than what we need, and not above the said line... problem is i have no idea what these things mean... any help from an established modder would be more than welcome.

That's what it is really. Just a few simple modifications to the statusbar background and data, battery, and service icons.
Thanks goes out to Amon_RA, JesusFreke, Stericson, Cyanogen, johnnybueno, and everyone/anyone else that has either directly or indirectly helped me.
I will work on this as time goes on, but I really don't like the way the stock icons look in the status bar, so I went ahead and changed some out, and figured I would share in case any one else would like this.

i would love to. if someone can throw an un-odex-ed services.jar at me, then I will try and do it.
Yeah, a black notification bar would complete this phone for me, this one looks great too though, just prefer black.
I am working right now with baksmali and deodexerant right now to try and get an un-.odex-ed services.jar so that I can try and get white text on a black bar, but of course, not really knowing anything makes it difficult.
I just think its fregin awesome that my phone was delivered today and everyone got together and jumped on modding this thing...Cyanogen, themes are rolling out, etc. I'd just like to say thanks for all the hard work you guys put into this.
even if you de-odex the services.jar (which fails right now with deodexerant), you have to de-odex the whole build, otherwise it won't take back the changed framework (it'll fail the security check) and the phone won't boot.

thank you for telling me though. i was wondering why deodexerant was failing for me.
Just for those curious...the theme does work
I was wondering when someone would come out with this. I can't believe it's here so soon! I hate the normal status bar, but love everything about the pohne. This is really the icing on the cake. Cheers bro!
Am I the only one disappointed that they didn't switch up the style for the note bar on this phone?
I agree with JoshHart. Ne way to make that ugly grey status bar black? I cant believe you already poped out a working theme!! Geez the N1 barely made its first breathe and its already rooted, has roms and gots a theme!! Geez. I waited so long for the MT3G to come out with tons of stuff. N1 N1 N1!!!! lol!!

When the 2.1 AOSP source is dropped and a rom is made from it that isn't odexed then I should be able to make a black bar.
Does the signal bar have to flipped? And the battery meter is simply a black box? Yes, I know it was a just a "small theme"..but some design choices are rather odd looking to a point.
I'm usin this theme, works fine, I'm not really feelin the inverted signal bars either, i'm cool with the battery though. I'm just happy to be rid of that stock notification bar, god it's ugly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561675
For more of an explanation of why things are like they are. they are inverted because I like the way it looks. It takes about 1 minute to fix if someone else wants to. The battery is like that because I like the way it looks. A lot of things in the current theme I am working on for the nexus one will be similar to that thread above. Personal taste.
If you want to flip the images then take the following from /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/
stat_sys_signal_x.png replace x with 0 to 5.
Then using really most any image manipulation program, flip it. Then replace those images in the same place in that .apk and either resign the file, or you can try to adb push it back to /system/framework/framework-res.apk. I have tried an adb push of the .apk's for the nexus yet, but did it all the time on my G1.

If they were to make the status bar black, the icons on top of the status bar would become difficult to see, since they are also black. It'd have to be a light color, over a dark one to even things out. I edited the apk file, to see how it would look myself..isn't the best idea. Although, you could add a small white glow to the icons, if that isn't too much. Hmm, I might try this myself.. or wait, I could just invert the black ~.~
EDIT: To david, yes, I flipped it myself lol. Just wanted to complain a tad XP

The problem with making is black is then you wouldn't see the time or the date in the notification bar. When an AOSP ROM is released then it should be easy to get a black bar.
Oh yea..I wasn't even thinking about the time..
Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have spent many a sleepless night working on this and it is a few boredom filled days away from initial release, but far from completion. I am looking for feedback! If you don't like something, tell me and I'll look into it.
This started out being a Steampunk theme, and I think keeps the basics of it, but is not full out Steampunk.
It will be for most roms using the VillainTheme system, not theme chooser. There will not be a battery % displayed in the status bar, just the images as normal.
BEFORE YOU POST, CHECK THE SECOND POST FOR THINGS I'M CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIX / EDIT.

Misc
Also changed a couple of icons. What do you guys think; change them automatically or let you change them using adw or whatever?
Code:

Suggestions so far:
Rounded corners on tabs.
Get rid of antique phone icons.
The maindock area reminds me of starcraft
Antique phones
I don't dig the antique phone icons, especially the grey one used in image #5 for the phone tab / dialer.
Also, I think you should make rounded corner tabs instead of black/white gradient.
Looking forward to it.
Yeah I agree, I loved the colorized theme.. this one would be something I'd rock in my late 60's.

It's greyed out because that tab is selected. Also this pic was taken early, it's not b&w gradient, it's all tan. I'll add new photos in the morning.
Also I'll look into the rounded corners. Don't know how to do that yet....

Sweet man! Right now I can't think of anything, but if you are inspired to make anything, standard icons (I don't plan on theming app icons), or whatever. Let me know and I'll throw them in.
Keep up the good work...
I"m also looking into what files draw that button bar at the top of the contacts dialer. I couldn't find it by just looking at the .9.pngs, so next I"ll dig through the xml and find what drawables in calls to make that.
I'm getting the feeling that it may be in framework-res, though...if I find it, I'll share with ya.
It is in framework-res, I can't remember the names off the top of my head, something tab selected and unselected. Thanks man.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
It looks like it's the tab_focused .9's in framework...if you change the shape of that, you'd have to know what else uses that drawable.
However, there is tab_pressed_bottom and such, in Contacts that will dictate a colored bar underneath your tabs when one is pressed.
I didnt' have much success changing the shape of the tabs...I mean, I can change the shape of them, but it just didn't look as good as I had hoped.
So what I did instead on mine, was made the tabs transparent...and then layered up the icons how I wanted them to look. That way, I can make the tab look any way I want.
Here's an example. I am toying around with the idea of making a rounded corner red border to each tab, something like what I attached.
I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I'm just hoping to be nearly as helpful to you as you were to me in the past.
It'd be pretty sweet to use this in the dialer.

Anyone making or thinking about making a theme that will go with the official Gingerbread leak we got?
Hopefully others will sound off as well with interest, something clean would be nice and please no more blue, phone has red accents for the love of God. Red, black, white, transparent would all be fine if anyone is up to it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I always theme mine green.
I have mine themed up with green notification icons in the status bar, semi transparent rosie dock with green icons.
Wait so is there a way to put a battery percentage in the notification bar? This is really the only thing I'm missing.

Anytime I have played with the framework (on my own) in the past it has led to problems, whether it be metamorph and ninjamorph I always seem to get boot loops.
I have yet to try the UOT Kitchen just hoping the community comes up with some theming options I can just flash in cwm and go from there.
What kind of themes were you guys looking for?
By "Gingerbread theme," does that mean the stock Gingerbread look instead of the Sense stuff? Like Skyraider 4.

I cant speak for everyone but I was looking for a theme that has a nice and clean look to it and maybe changes the colors up a bit. Changing everything that is green to red/black or white/black would look nice. Also changing up the status bar some and the notification pull down window would be awesome. That bright white pull down window is bland, boring, and BLINDING!

Yea no prob man take your time. Look forward to it.
So, I pieced together a black and red-ish theme. Looks really cool, from what I can see of it.
I'm getting loads of force closes all over, and the lock screen looks a little weird. Would anyone with more theming experience care to jump in and help me sort it out a little?
I was just messing with with some stuff as well.
I don't have the sdk on my PC and don't really know much about signing apk's and things like that but what I was doing was going into the apk's on my computer (for framework, htc.resourse, and systemUI) and just altering every .png i found that was green and changing it to a nice red.
What I was hoping to do was do that for all 3 apk's and then add those files to the UOT Kitchen to basically bind them all together while also throwing on a battery mod or something.
Probably pretty ass backwards but with my limited exp. I thought it might work.
Only problem is I can't find .png's for a few things like the green android that comes up during a phone call, and I didn't want to take hours changing everything if I wasn't going to be able to complete this project 100%.
I highly recommend [ROM][8/25] McSense v1.1 - GingerSense 1.0 by 00McD00. Ive been running it for while with no issues. Status bar is solid black, pull down is solid black with white notifications, slate style call and lockscreen, and its just as quick as any of the other new stock roms- cool stuff. He seems pretty open to new ideas so anyone with decent know-how could probably help it along.
Thanks man but I pretty much got all of that already by using UOT Kitchen ^^^.
Only thing I couldn't get to work right in the Kitchen was changng the entire notification screen black and having the text be white as seen here:

After a reboot text comes out black and you can't read it unless you click on it.
I am guessing on McSense Rom that he left the space white with black text?
Right... I'm gonna have to look into UOT...
In case anyone is still interested, I got my force close issues sorted out. I've got a few images that need to be resized, but that shouldn't take too much more work.
I can have something up for you guys in the next few days.

Awesome man and good to know. Like I said take your time, if the finished product comes out well it will be worth it.
For those of you that like the colored status bar and notification icons that m00nman posted, you will be able to find them here from now on, since it seems he doesn't have the time or desire to keep them up to date. I plan on continuing to update these as weaponx also updates. I am by no means a developer or modder; this is my first "project" of this type and m00nman did most of the work so thanks to him. This is mostly for my own amusement and learning. If you have any problems or suggestions let me know and I'll do my best to address them.
Anyways, here is a flashable ZIP that will install the aforementioned icon pack to your weapon x 3.0 r1 ROM.
Thanks to jcbofkc for the zip, I didn't know how to make one until he provided it.
Let me know if you like it, a simple thanks will do!

I am sure frescoraja or I could later today, but you can do it yourself using UOT kitchen. It is very easy to use. I am a complete novice when it comes to this stuff, but I was able to figure it out. You can change the battery to whatever look you prefer and keep everything else the same including the kick ass toggles. Under the battery option there is one that is green the majority of the time until it get low and tuns red.

I posted the same one from my post in the other thread. I thought that mine included the colored notification icons that yours has (minus the big alarm clock icon, and maybe a couple of others).. But now that I won't be using the g2x, I am going to change the OP to include your icons.
what i do is really simple, first I use 7zip or winrar to extract the apks from the zip files. Then I use apk manager to "unzip" the apk's and then just replace the png files in the weaponX rom apk with the corresponding png files from m00nman's apks. Then you "zip" it back up in apk manager (leave the apk unsigned because they are system apps), and then i just paste the new apks over the old apks in your zip archive.
I just got an HTC sensation as a warranty exchange for my g2x, so I probably won't be updating these any more. I think you're more than capable, jcbofkc but let me know if you have any questions.
In case any one is interested, in many ways i regret getting the sensation (qHD display looks like ****E compared to g2x's lcd, and the thing lags like crazy compared to the snappy g2x), but i know i can always sell it and buy another g2x with cash left over. The main benefit to the sensation is the amount of roms to choose from, and the HTC amaze's camera app has been ported to the sensation. If LG announces plans to update the g2x to Ice cream sandwich, I'll be back in a heartbeat.
Thanks frescoraja, I will keep the thread updated. Might even try a couple of other versions for those that want to keep their rom "as is" plus a little nicer status bar. I will see you again after the ICS update.
Hello guys,
I was surfing themes for other similar tablets (like G Tab 10.1, Xoom) and i noticed that Gtab 10.1 has a white background at settings menu(screen below). Is it possible to make similar theme for Asus TF101 or just port some existing one for Gtab 10.1?
I tryed to install some Gtab themes on my TF101, but Rom is not booting after flashing.
Thanks for your time.

i have some time tomorrow so i can work on it but in the meantime i edited it to have the 10.1 icons just push to system/app
edit: took a look and exchanged all the res files its not as simple as a res exchange theme its persistent throughout system and that will take allot of time and changing the systemui.apk as well

Thats really cool. is that hard to change font color there too?
HEre is the link to the theme with white background. But i surfed some more web sites and found that actually the stock build of Android 3.2 for SGT10.1 was with white theme.
Thanks anyway, your wark is really great.
BTW add DONATE button to your profile. i'd really like to buy you some bear!
It would be illegal for you to buy me a beer because im 17 but thanks anyways
Here is the progress
Ok so it turns out that the same xml file controlls the colour of the text beside the icons and the main text in popup dialogues such as menus making hem really hard to read so the options right now are to make the background in settings a light grey or any slightly darker colour or make the text gray or any colour lighter than black

Ok, now its looking better. One more question. This square which is black, is that possible to make it gray or white too?
And btw files from SGT theme got some resource or not? Maybe there is something in the ROM itself?
About beer, it shouldn't be beer, but anything else.
ok the white settings menue is from the samsung 10.1 and the rest of the theme is from the htc jetstream i will see if i can edit the dark blue/grey to make it white but it might be dficult.
The icons and fonts ect are from the theme you linked me the rest is from me just editing files to try to get the right colour ill try to have it all loking polished in an hour
Ok i think that i have done all i can the dark square that has all the submenues is a .9.png and i dont have the skills needed to edit them and it doesn't seem like anyone else has been able to change it either
to install everything unzip then use android commander http://androidcommander.com/
To push the system file to the root of the sdcard allot of stuff will fc just reboot once
