Anyone making or thinking about making a theme that will go with the official Gingerbread leak we got?
Hopefully others will sound off as well with interest, something clean would be nice and please no more blue, phone has red accents for the love of God. Red, black, white, transparent would all be fine if anyone is up to it, it would be greatly appreciated.
I always theme mine green.
I have mine themed up with green notification icons in the status bar, semi transparent rosie dock with green icons.
Wait so is there a way to put a battery percentage in the notification bar? This is really the only thing I'm missing.

Just run your framework-res.apk through the UOT kitchen.
I feel like I should make a zip for everyone since there's so many requests for it.

Anytime I have played with the framework (on my own) in the past it has led to problems, whether it be metamorph and ninjamorph I always seem to get boot loops.
I have yet to try the UOT Kitchen just hoping the community comes up with some theming options I can just flash in cwm and go from there.
What kind of themes were you guys looking for?
By "Gingerbread theme," does that mean the stock Gingerbread look instead of the Sense stuff? Like Skyraider 4.

I cant speak for everyone but I was looking for a theme that has a nice and clean look to it and maybe changes the colors up a bit. Changing everything that is green to red/black or white/black would look nice. Also changing up the status bar some and the notification pull down window would be awesome. That bright white pull down window is bland, boring, and BLINDING!

Alright. I don't want to promise a bunch of stuff and end up disappointing everyone, but I'll see if I can put together a few things.

Yea no prob man take your time. Look forward to it.
So, I pieced together a black and red-ish theme. Looks really cool, from what I can see of it.
I'm getting loads of force closes all over, and the lock screen looks a little weird. Would anyone with more theming experience care to jump in and help me sort it out a little?
I was just messing with with some stuff as well.
I don't have the sdk on my PC and don't really know much about signing apk's and things like that but what I was doing was going into the apk's on my computer (for framework, htc.resourse, and systemUI) and just altering every .png i found that was green and changing it to a nice red.
What I was hoping to do was do that for all 3 apk's and then add those files to the UOT Kitchen to basically bind them all together while also throwing on a battery mod or something.
Probably pretty ass backwards but with my limited exp. I thought it might work.
Only problem is I can't find .png's for a few things like the green android that comes up during a phone call, and I didn't want to take hours changing everything if I wasn't going to be able to complete this project 100%.
I highly recommend [ROM][8/25] McSense v1.1 - GingerSense 1.0 by 00McD00. Ive been running it for while with no issues. Status bar is solid black, pull down is solid black with white notifications, slate style call and lockscreen, and its just as quick as any of the other new stock roms- cool stuff. He seems pretty open to new ideas so anyone with decent know-how could probably help it along.
Thanks man but I pretty much got all of that already by using UOT Kitchen ^^^.
Only thing I couldn't get to work right in the Kitchen was changng the entire notification screen black and having the text be white as seen here:

After a reboot text comes out black and you can't read it unless you click on it.
I am guessing on McSense Rom that he left the space white with black text?
Right... I'm gonna have to look into UOT...
In case anyone is still interested, I got my force close issues sorted out. I've got a few images that need to be resized, but that shouldn't take too much more work.
I can have something up for you guys in the next few days.

That's what it is really. Just a few simple modifications to the statusbar background and data, battery, and service icons.
Thanks goes out to Amon_RA, JesusFreke, Stericson, Cyanogen, johnnybueno, and everyone/anyone else that has either directly or indirectly helped me.
I will work on this as time goes on, but I really don't like the way the stock icons look in the status bar, so I went ahead and changed some out, and figured I would share in case any one else would like this.

i would love to. if someone can throw an un-odex-ed services.jar at me, then I will try and do it.
Yeah, a black notification bar would complete this phone for me, this one looks great too though, just prefer black.
I am working right now with baksmali and deodexerant right now to try and get an un-.odex-ed services.jar so that I can try and get white text on a black bar, but of course, not really knowing anything makes it difficult.
I just think its fregin awesome that my phone was delivered today and everyone got together and jumped on modding this thing...Cyanogen, themes are rolling out, etc. I'd just like to say thanks for all the hard work you guys put into this.
even if you de-odex the services.jar (which fails right now with deodexerant), you have to de-odex the whole build, otherwise it won't take back the changed framework (it'll fail the security check) and the phone won't boot.

thank you for telling me though. i was wondering why deodexerant was failing for me.
Just for those curious...the theme does work
I was wondering when someone would come out with this. I can't believe it's here so soon! I hate the normal status bar, but love everything about the pohne. This is really the icing on the cake. Cheers bro!
Am I the only one disappointed that they didn't switch up the style for the note bar on this phone?
I agree with JoshHart. Ne way to make that ugly grey status bar black? I cant believe you already poped out a working theme!! Geez the N1 barely made its first breathe and its already rooted, has roms and gots a theme!! Geez. I waited so long for the MT3G to come out with tons of stuff. N1 N1 N1!!!! lol!!

When the 2.1 AOSP source is dropped and a rom is made from it that isn't odexed then I should be able to make a black bar.
Does the signal bar have to flipped? And the battery meter is simply a black box? Yes, I know it was a just a "small theme"..but some design choices are rather odd looking to a point.
I'm usin this theme, works fine, I'm not really feelin the inverted signal bars either, i'm cool with the battery though. I'm just happy to be rid of that stock notification bar, god it's ugly.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561675
For more of an explanation of why things are like they are. they are inverted because I like the way it looks. It takes about 1 minute to fix if someone else wants to. The battery is like that because I like the way it looks. A lot of things in the current theme I am working on for the nexus one will be similar to that thread above. Personal taste.
If you want to flip the images then take the following from /system/framework/framework-res.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/
stat_sys_signal_x.png replace x with 0 to 5.
Then using really most any image manipulation program, flip it. Then replace those images in the same place in that .apk and either resign the file, or you can try to adb push it back to /system/framework/framework-res.apk. I have tried an adb push of the .apk's for the nexus yet, but did it all the time on my G1.

If they were to make the status bar black, the icons on top of the status bar would become difficult to see, since they are also black. It'd have to be a light color, over a dark one to even things out. I edited the apk file, to see how it would look myself..isn't the best idea. Although, you could add a small white glow to the icons, if that isn't too much. Hmm, I might try this myself.. or wait, I could just invert the black ~.~
EDIT: To david, yes, I flipped it myself lol. Just wanted to complain a tad XP

The problem with making is black is then you wouldn't see the time or the date in the notification bar. When an AOSP ROM is released then it should be easy to get a black bar.
Oh yea..I wasn't even thinking about the time..
I'm using Skyraider 2.5.2 (FroYo). Where are all the Sensed themes? I see the one blue one, looking for more.
Thx
I am working on a red and black theme. This theme will be a complete rework of almost every aspect of the phone. At least 90% of the icons will be new, new taskbar, lockscreen, etc. This theme will be a complete facelift of the default sense theme and not just a recolor.
So far it has taken me a week and I am not even 50% finished although I hope to have a release by the end of the week. I hope to include a full zip and a metamorph release.
Anyways here is some screenshots for you so far. Still not completely happy with the notification area (icons resting on the red bar) and the slider window...among other things

great job, thanks for ur hard work
Rule The Air looks stunning. I cannot wait
Niiice! Definitely like the red. Excellent work. Keeping an eye out for this one.
So the theme is coming along nicely! Did a little bit of cleanup with icons in the notification area and the notification dropdown area. There are still a lot of icons that I am looking to replace, still a ways to go. I also want to move the smooth circle battery up a bit so its not resting on the red line.
Here are some more teasers for you guys hehe
I will be working on the buttons soon so they blend more with the theme.
I cant decide if I like the Rule The Air logo in the notification background. I think this area almost looks a little to busy, what do you guys think?

I think it looks badass. Unless you had a full page of notifications going on, then it might get in the way of the words, but I wouldn't even care. Honestly the Rule The Air logo is one of the things that made this theme jump out at me

This is an awesome looking theme for Sense whenever it is released if by this week or the next I am definitely getting it, looks hot great job. Will be donating this weekend.
logo looks real nice

Actually the launcher that was in the screenshots is LauncherPro and the popup window is folder organizer. Here are a couple screenshots with the launcher and app drawer.
This is not a big update but is different, and with 2.2 I felt the other thread was getting messy with all the 2.1 stuff.
This is basically the same with the addition of one image file.

I think this makes it easier to see the Rosie Launcher and works good.
For now I only have the one stock green color.
Feel free to make requests.
this was tested to work fine on the stock 2.2 RUU.
this does NOT require a deodexed ROM.
does however require S-OFF and MetaMorph.

I went and got permission from mb02 to be able to port his shaded status bar into a metamorph. I take no credit for this,, all I did was port this to be a meta morph theme and that is it. original thread
the great suggest came from Teh_Higgins to port it to use with this.
use with metamorph. may need to apply a few times. that is normal. Also check in your framework-res folder to see if you have drawable-hdpi or drawable hdpi-v4, this comes included with hdpi, but sometimes people have the -v4 and if that's so just edit the file to have the -v4.

I like the idea, but having the whole thing a solid transparent kind of feels weird when matched with the notification bar being solid. Maybe keep the default design the same, but make it transparent, so the buttons still have some darkness to them.
Also does this cause us to lose the home screen indicator?

Aw shucks. lol
I am unaware of the details of theming. Does this just affect the appearance of the rosie launcher, or is it a "version" of rosie (so to speak)? Reason being that i want to try out the new build of skyraider but he uses the espresso version of rosie. Any idea what result this theme would get or should i just try it out and report back?
EDIT: I like to use the round battery, would i still be able to install it over your metamorph theme or continue to use the framework.apk swap method?

This isnt a clockwork mod zip, it is meant for use inside a program from within android called "meta morph", its on the market, you will also need "busybox" installed
you should read up about this stuff till you hate it, then your ready to try to use it.
cool dled metamorph and applyed it. me gusta
im applying the shaded status bar mod in metamorph right now and its been applying framework-res.apk for like 5 minutes and is still loading it. is that normal?
Anyway we could get the right button remapped to open the browser, this would pretty much make this perfect.
I wish my friend. I've tried, I've searched, I've seeked help from those with the know. It's alot of work and it was work I couldn't figure out. Drove me crazy for about a week, then I finally let it go lol. I wanted the stock SMS to the right button. The author or Sky Raider is working on a final release that will have these types of things I guess. From what he told me I am understanding it as it'll be for his ROM but an add on for other roms as well, so i hope, not that his ROM isn't great.
oh skyraider al ready has it working, you can download it already. i'll try it on a stovk froyo sense that is deodexed
the only way to do it is to take the rosie.apk and com.htc.resources.apk from skyraider and use it on stock deodexed. although this will give you the 5 aoo row in drawer and iltt say skyraider..
Thanks to Myn, first and foremost, both for the awesome ROM, and then for giving me some technical advice when I got into the nitty gritty. Also thanks to Orgambino and DJZager, whose tutorials I used to find the files I wanted to modify, and finaly, thanks to SteelH for letting me use his no-clock-no-GPS script.
Thanks also to Rujelus22 for his hard work with the Gingerbread Menus and for letting me incorporate them into this theme.
Also, thanks to Slugbug2010 for providing significant feedback, pushing me to incorporate the Gingerbread menus, among other things.
I thought it would be fun to take Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo and cool it down a bit, adding a fair bit of translucent white. In doing so, I came up with a fun Notifier Bar that fades from translucent to white, and in some apps fades from black to white. With the white text on the notifier and the black icons, it's pretty striking.
As mentioned above, this Theme also removes Clock and GPS from the notifier bar.
Most of the work here is in the framework, so not a lot of changes to actual icons, except for where white wasn't going to show up, and so I made it black. Also, some blue replaces some green, further cooling it down.
Edit 1/12/2011 I've tweaked the power control icons, added Rujelus22's Gingerbread menu mods, and did some more icon work to crispen things up.

Nothing fancy

Very VERY nice. I really like this. I wasn't expecting Myn's GB black menus to go away, but the Frost is growing on me
Here are some screen shots. I think your term was best - striking.
(ps - just an fyi that the gmail icon is white and it "disappears" on at least one screen I found - the first page of the facebook app, shown below, there is a M for gmail in the upper left but it doesn't show up. NOT complaining, just pointing out if you wanted to know)
Yeah, the issue you experienced with the GMAIL icon dissappearing is a point of frustration for me. there are a few Apps that have a lower layer of WHITE in the titlebar instead of black. That means that for most apps, you'll get the black to white fade effect, but for a few, it will get lost. I'm still trying to figure out that one....the only fix I found so far is to get rid of the transparency in the titlebar and go to a transparent black on that side, which doesn't look nearly as nice with some backgrounds. I'll keep poking at it.
With regards to the black gingerbread menus - are you saying you had flashed Rujelus's Gingerbread Menus, and that flashing Frosted Warm wiped it out? Let me know if that's the case. I'll have to chew on how to prevent that.
Thanks for the feedback!!!
More screen shots!
I wanted others to see how nice this looks on a few different kinds of wallpaper. Looks fantastic on a blue-ish background - your theme really stands out and makes things seem to "float" and appear really HD/3D.
(I also included a pic of the menu. I already had the GB menus flashed when I flashed your theme. They changed from black to white...or we'll call the Frost )
Thanks SlugBug! Here's a link to new flashable .zip with gingerbread menus!

Easily done open up the.zip file for my theme, navigate to /system/framework/framework-res.apk. extract that file and go to http://circle.glx.nl/
Pick your battery, skip all other options, and in the last stage tell it to upload the framework you pulled out of my .zip.
It will generate a flashable update file that will mesh with everything else I've done AND give you your batt. indicator of choice.
Just flash my update, then that update et voíla!

I had heard of some instability issues with the 4x5, so had held off on implementing it. I can drop it in my next revision, pretty easily.

Alright ladies and gentlemen, I have spent many a sleepless night working on this and it is a few boredom filled days away from initial release, but far from completion. I am looking for feedback! If you don't like something, tell me and I'll look into it.
This started out being a Steampunk theme, and I think keeps the basics of it, but is not full out Steampunk.
It will be for most roms using the VillainTheme system, not theme chooser. There will not be a battery % displayed in the status bar, just the images as normal.
BEFORE YOU POST, CHECK THE SECOND POST FOR THINGS I'M CURRENTLY TRYING TO FIX / EDIT.
Pay no attention to the LauncherPro dock and icons at the bottom and let us begin...

Coming as soon as I dig up my long list.
If you like what I do, all I ask is you hit the thanks button.
Downloads
SteamPunk Initial release, still a lot of work to do. Flashable, should work with most 2.3.x roms.
Random Wallpapers that I think go with the theme.
Market Link to a free LWP that looks ok.
Thanks goes to bmann_420 for hosting over at SuperCentral.net. If you want to donate to someone, contact and donate to him since he is letting me use server space for free.
Things I'm trying to fixImage #1
Make the on / off icons bigger. Also some of the on / off buttons are not made yet, I forgot about those
Image #3
The USB stick is colored when you mount your SD card.
Image #4
Same as #1, maybe make the background more see through.
Image #5
Add a background image to the dialer. Probably leather.
Working with Mister Hat to make another dialer.
Image #6
Align icons
Image #7
Align icons
Image 8
This image is to show you the change to the desk clock, I don't like the time bars.
Misc
Also changed a couple of icons. What do you guys think; change them automatically or let you change them using adw or whatever?
Code:
8/23/11 Uploaded initial test release.
Suggestions so far:
Rounded corners on tabs.
Get rid of antique phone icons.
The maindock area reminds me of starcraft
Antique phones
I don't dig the antique phone icons, especially the grey one used in image #5 for the phone tab / dialer.
Also, I think you should make rounded corner tabs instead of black/white gradient.
Looking forward to it.
Yeah I agree, I loved the colorized theme.. this one would be something I'd rock in my late 60's.

It's greyed out because that tab is selected. Also this pic was taken early, it's not b&w gradient, it's all tan. I'll add new photos in the morning.
Also I'll look into the rounded corners. Don't know how to do that yet....

Thanks. I actually have considered setting this to the side since there has been so little feedback.
But when I get it done it will work for most roms, G2x and O2x.

Sweet man! Right now I can't think of anything, but if you are inspired to make anything, standard icons (I don't plan on theming app icons), or whatever. Let me know and I'll throw them in.
Keep up the good work...
I"m also looking into what files draw that button bar at the top of the contacts dialer. I couldn't find it by just looking at the .9.pngs, so next I"ll dig through the xml and find what drawables in calls to make that.
I'm getting the feeling that it may be in framework-res, though...if I find it, I'll share with ya.
It is in framework-res, I can't remember the names off the top of my head, something tab selected and unselected. Thanks man.

It looks like it's the tab_focused .9's in framework...if you change the shape of that, you'd have to know what else uses that drawable.
However, there is tab_pressed_bottom and such, in Contacts that will dictate a colored bar underneath your tabs when one is pressed.
I didnt' have much success changing the shape of the tabs...I mean, I can change the shape of them, but it just didn't look as good as I had hoped.
So what I did instead on mine, was made the tabs transparent...and then layered up the icons how I wanted them to look. That way, I can make the tab look any way I want.
Here's an example. I am toying around with the idea of making a rounded corner red border to each tab, something like what I attached.
I didn't mean to hijack your thread, I'm just hoping to be nearly as helpful to you as you were to me in the past.
It'd be pretty sweet to use this in the dialer.

That would be cool. If you want to put those icons together, I'll make it an add on for the theme. I like the buttons I have because of the background I've set up, but I'm not above making other people happy
