Hi. today Mozilla released a new alpha-version of the mobile browser Fennec for WP. Changelog sounds promising:
New since 1.0 alpha 3:
* Improved interactions with the software keyboard
* Fixed painting artifacts from panning
* Faster .exe installer option
* More responsive "fuzzy" zoom
* Option to become default browser
* Opening downloads from download manager fixed
* Password echoing
* Improved panning/scrolling performance
* Improved start-up time
* Numerous bug fixes
* Improved painting performance
* Improved UI polish
* Improved kinetic panning with directional locking
* Ability to scroll frames
* Improved zooming support
You can load it here: *click*
EDIT/WARNING: I just cannot suggest you to try this. The performance is a nightmare! Doesn't close properly. I can't believe that this is already Alpha No. 4... Only positive thing to mention is the new UI in my opinion. I know that this is an Alpha version - but as far as I remember the previous Alpha's worked better...

Fennec
Whenever I install this on my phone it seems to rape the flip out of it. to a point where I have to reboot and it seems to crash manila. Anybody else have this problem?
simply doesn't work....
i am running xlite miri 3.2 so no manila issue here. my impressions are:
1. pretty large install
2. long load time
3. customizable, very nice feature, cant wait to see more of this
4. fast page loading
5. slow rendering when scrolling, although the page fills in pretty quick
6. it randomly closes on me, very bad lol
7. nice full page view out of the box, no need to hack any settings for that
8. oops, now it randomly froze on me, very bad also lol
9. very clean interface
10. able to do complete full screen
11. sliding left and right are nice for extra menus but needs some getting used too, interferes with panning.
12. able to click links without zoom good imo

can you be more specific. i didnt have problems with it "simply" working. it had hiccups though as you can see in my evaluation of it. It is in alpha though ..... that means something However, saying is simply doesn't work simply isnt true
sorry,i've only noticed that it can't go online....
Does not work for me too. Stuck at the first page and cannot load any other pages. Furthermore, it seems to make my native opera as well as opera beta unable to work.

Attention its corrupt or replace some file and Opera may doesnt work.
Opera works after you uninstall Fennec.
I think I'll give this one a miss
does flash work?

Nice phrase!
Did you guys read Mozilla's remark that it wont run properly on a HD 2? It works well on my Xperia X1.

So is it any good then? Suppose it will work on the HD2 eventually.
I like its look and feel. The user interface is still a bit slow but rendering itself is quite fast. Its more or less stable (only have had two crashes so far) which isnt that bad for an alpha. There are also a few features still missing like the possibility to open a link in a new tab (it generally supports tabbed browsing though). So for me it looks promising.
This game is being tested for HTC desire only.. maybe someone can tell me if it’s working on other devices too...

Blackscreen??? Humm....
YES indeed
System Requirements
Q: What version of the Android OS is supported by AIR for Android?
A: AIR on Android supports Android OS 2.2 (FroYo). Developers who still use Éclair should continue to use the 06/04 Runtime and SDK build.
Q. What processors does Adobe AIR support in Android devices?
A. Adobe AIR on Android requires an ARMv7 processor.
Updated The ECLAIR VERSION of AIR... pls give a try now...
Can someone test if is working with 2.1?
solidkundi?

Do you have froyo or eclair???? Which version of AIR u have installed???
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App

Did it worked for someone with 2.2??? It looks like for no froyo devices does not.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Samsung Galaxy S - Eclair (2.1) blank black screen after accepting adobe AIR Ts&Cs
There's an intresting thread about 'upgrading' opengl es library to 1.1 in htc hero.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899801
Is it possible to apply the same thing on htc dream? Will it let us run 3d-requiring apps like sygic aura?
I'm trying it....
edit: g1 boot.... trying game and lwp
edit2: it's for you
edit3: I forgot to say this is not signed... because I use clockwork mod recovery.... use it or sign... or wait the new miuicy
I'll report in 20 min how it works (benchmarks, game smoothness...)

What is it? CM with new driver?
yes...latest nightly with new driver
Did you change build.prop to use ogl 1.1 by default?
ro.opengles.version=65537
BTW. Phone booted, starting benchmarks now
ehh what exactly is this
Few more fps in Quadrant 3d benchmrk test (really noticeable only in 1/3 and 2/3).
Quadrant System Info shows OpenGL ES 1.1-CM
Sygic Aura still error no supported 3d acc
New driver test
I'm running froyo yoshi 1.8.1 with 32% compcache, jit, 32MB VM Heap. CPU 352-614 with interactive scaling.
Neocore
Old driver:
- With sound - 23,6 | 23,7
- W/o sound - 26,3 | 26,3
New driver:
- With sound - 23,2 | 23,7
- W/o sound - 26,3 | 26,3
Quadrant
Old driver - 382 | 382
New driver - 374 | 381
Others
Angry Birds - not playable, I can't feel any difference
Zenonia - same as before, no difference
I'm not sure but ui animations are a little smoother.
@nobooya - Thx for comparison. Looks like there's no difference at all
I wanted to point out that in the zip posted by DelsaDj the build.prop has two lines that effect the choice of opengl version.
line 46: ro.opengles.version=65536
line 67: ro.opengles.version=65537
I believe that the first of the settings is read during boot, so the second line is not actually being set.
I'm using Biffmod 2.1, and I'm basing this information on using a build.prop with ro.opengles.version=165537 to use OpenGL ES 1.1 and have vector maps in Google maps 5.x. Vector maps and caching were not available when I had another ro.opengles.version setting earlier in the build.prop.
That being said, I don't see any drastic improvements and I don't have any benchmarks, although I agree with nobooya that UI animations seem snappier.
GemRB is project aimed to recreate Infinity Engine which was developed by Bioware and used in one of the greatest cRPG's of all time: Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale 1&2 and Planescape: Torment. Now you can play all mentioned games on your tablet as I succesfully ported GemRB to Windows RT. To run GemRB you need to unpack my archive, install desired game on you regular PC, then copy whole installed content to ./GemRB/games folder and finally edit the gemrb.cfg(which is well commented so I'm not going to explain it). Performance wise, games are playable, older ones run full speed while newer ones encouter stutters here and there but still plays nicely. And that's all. Have fun

Sorry for teasing you but I ported GemRB engine which let's you play best Bioware's RPG like Baldur's Gate 1&2, Icewind Dale and more. Loading is a bit slow but game itself is smooth and very enjoyable. I said "teasing" because I'm not going to release it yet. I need to clean things a bit so be patient.

What a Great news ! Thanks a lot for the effort ! Looking forward to it :good:
DO WANT! I've been trying to get BG2 (well, TuTu actually - BG1 on the BG2 engine) running on the x86 emulator, but a native port would be fantastic!
love BG2 so much! can the game run in full screen?:victory:

waitting...thanks for your nice work
updated first post with link.
This is awesome..!!!! Major Kudos for porting this!
Hmm... it appears to mostly work, but I'm getting some odd errors. Note that I'm using the "tutu" mod for BG, which runs BG1 and BG2 sequentially, both in the BG2 engine; this could be the cause of some or even all of these issues. The cfg file is configured for BG2.
1. Touch doesn't work right (it acts sort of like a joystick controlling the mouse) on TouchFeedback=0. On any other level, there's no mouse pointer visible at all, and touch doesn't appear to do anything either
2. The display is corrupted at 1366x768 (UI elements not where they belong, panning is messed up, the "HUD" flickers in and out of view) even though the widescreen support is installed.
3. At 1024x768, the pause button is not visible in the UI.
4. (BIG PROBLEM) When I talk to people, the dialog text does not appear (either what they say to me, or what I may respond). This makes productive interaction with NPCs effectively impossible.

1. All values on touchfeedback bigger than 0 hide pointer as then your finger is supposed to act as one, it's like that on purpose. Also touch doesn't work right in fullscreen as I used sdl library compiled by netham45 which has this issue, just try dosbox or any other app which uses sdl and is compiled for WinRT. I tried compiling sdl2 which from what I read have some advanced touch procedures and GemRB take advantage of it, Unfortunately I failed.
2. About widescreen mod, I can't tell if there are issues because i haven't used this mod.
3. In 1024x768 everything is good for me.
4. GemRB has some problems with writing ini files. Even if you set ingame options to you liking it's going to write strange values in. Just look at gem-baldur.ini in game foder and see that all values are either very high or always "0", that's why subtitles are turned off. I thought it's strictly related only to my build but when I tried to run gemrb on my win8 laptop, it produces same corrupted values. Nobody know why(including gemrb makers).
Ah, thanks for the tip on touch not working in fullscreen. Annoying that it can't just treat touch like a mouse pointer the way the Windows desktop does, though.
I'll mess with resolutions a bit more, see what I can find out.
At 1024x768 fullscreen, all UI elements except for the left control bar (minus the pause button) and main view are missing in-game unless I click one of those left buttons. No dialog, no shop interface, no event logging, no party/status/HP info.
At 1366x768 fullscreen, the UI flickers in and out as I move the mouse, but it still renders in the wrong places and I still can't talk to people.

For me GemRB with vanilla BG2 runs ok in 1024x768, no missing elements, about 1366x768 resolution read this: http://www.gemrb.org/wiki/doku.php?id=fap. If screen still flickers with widescreen mod installed then this whole tutu may be the case.
Widescreen mod is part of Tutu, but I tried reinstalling it just in case. Windowed at 800x600 works, nothing else that I've found does. Still awesome!

I just tried the standalone widescreen mod with my copy and 1366x768 runs without any problem, although a bit jerky(about 17fps).
Does this work with the Enhanced Edition?
I'm not sure whether it's my ROM (stock Touchwiz Marshmallow) or an issue with the most recent builds of Chrome (Chromium and every other branch also have this issue), but it seems like webpage elements are being rendered a lot larger than they should be. The Accessibility setting in Chrome no longer has any effect, either.
When I run a browser info test, the device resolution is reported as 360 x 640 instead of 1080 x 1920.
Oddly enough, other applications that use Webview, such as the internal Google Now browser, scale correctly.
Is Chrome simply not detecting my DPI (480) properly? Anyone else having this issue?
Update: Apparently overriding the resolution using the App Settings Xposed module will make Chrome render pages at the right size. Unfortunately, it causes Chrome to switch to tablet mode.
Is there a way to disable tablet mode?
