Time for a smoke and off to bed. Gotta get up early and see if you've uploaded that recovery image lol
What's wrong with your One XL! I loaded the CWM recovery and stuck in the bootloader, however as long as I don't go to recovery my one x works perfectly fine.
Keep me posted on how it goes. If it's possible to get the stock recovery back and I will go for it or have to wait for the development of the recovery for XL

Oh, seriously?
Only thing different that I had done was used Leedroids boot.img flasher in the process. But when my device boots, it sticks at the HTC boot screen. I'll give it another try now.
Once I know the recovery doesn't work and I stopped from there.
But now I see some problems with my one x include I can't open the camera app and also I can't use erase setting on the phone since it will boot to recovery. I understand your pain especially when we unlock the bootloader we void the warranty and there's no way to turn around except for an expensive paperweight.

yes one would, but it's not a perfect world. you must understand though, some people will see that they bought a h1x and in doing so, will go to that forum and start flashing whatever like idiots without reading first. there is not actually a h1xl out yet but we have two different phones out that can't be crossed.

My opinion is that if someone is not smart enough to know the difference between the One X on AT&T and the international One X, they are clearly not smart enough to be flashing their phone.

The blame is on the carriers for branding the XL with LTE as the X. It might be wise to rename this forum 'HTC One X North America' or something similar.

Yes I can. Flashing roms is inherently risky. If you aren't doing all the research, then you deserve to have a brick.
Agreed with you even I flashed the wrong recovery but the name just get confused. I am not as bad as the others since I am still using my One X for now just patiently for the recovery. The name of One XL sounds like a completely different model to me.

and what about those like peterhtc or devs that have both. i doubt they would make the mistake but it must be confusing sometimes to know which rom goes to which phone.

Who cares about Sense 4.1. The One S update for T-Mo is still Android 4.0.4 which we already have. I want Android 4.1 (which comes with Sense 4.5). Skip this Sense 4.1 BS. If AT&T does release this Sense 4.1 update, it means we will not get next real update anytime soon. So, it is actually good news for AT&T users.

If they plugged up the hboot holes like they did on the One X, I would absolutely tell her not to update.
We might be getting something soon since developing sense takes a while (Im assuming). Maybe they've been working on it for a while now? I just want jellybean to find an exploit.
My theory with our new hboot was to stop dev for the iphone 5 release and to push the sgs3, since apple, samsung and at&t are in bed together all the time.
The decent thing to do and probably what will happen is the next real update we get will have relaxed hboot.
Are any other htc phones in the same hboot situation?
All hboots have been equal for all regions based on Rom release date. Eg all roms from 2.20 era have hboot 1.14 with exact same limits.
Radio, dsp, WiFi and the Roms themself all basically are just the same progression of the same thing. No region has special treatment they all just periodically are getting similar updates. Some carriers are holding some updates up, eg Telstra delayed their 4.0.4 update by 2 weeks(2 weeks ago, it should be out this week)
Only difference for all other regions is HTC offer unlock tokens for bootloader.

No problem scotman. These version names really are confusing. That may be why so many people flash the wrong stuff on their phone, because att isn't calling it the right name and thats all they go by.
Here's how to figure it out.
Look at the bezel above the screen. Do you see the HTC logo or the AT&T logo?
If it's the AT&T logo, you have the One XL, unless you have an Australian or Canadian variant of the One XL, but that seems doubtful.

Ive been debating on whether I should root & go to a jellybean rom on my Att One X.
Simply because Ive been scrolling through Q&A and it seems like this phone is really easy to brick..like it seems like alot of people brick their phones.
So It is cause people dont follow directions or what?
PS: I have 60 day warranty on my phone, and Im not sure if I wanna risk it.
Only stay in this forum and don't flash an international HTC one x rom when you have a dual core non international phone and make sure the Rom is compatible with your phone and you should be fine.

you wont brick if you read first... go through the Q&A section... the only REAL bricks are from these cats flashing roms that are from a totally different phone... but also notice some noobs think they "brick" when all they forgot to do is fastboot a kernel. its all about research... theres a few people on her that go on blatantly flashing whatever they see, not even knowing the difference in devices. know your phone, know your community, know your firmware.. read a little and you'll profit big time.

Well, in truth, this phone is easy to brick. All it takes is flashing IceColdJelly or some other international roms. But this is invariably the result of impatience and overconfidence, people thinking they knew what they were doing and rushing around flashing the first rom they find or one their friend told them to try without taking the time to be sure they were using the right methods.
You seem cautious and wary, and that's good. Just stay in the "AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL" forum and you'll be fine. Don't go looking for tools and roms on Google, and don't be flashing stuff you found on some random web site.
Many, many people have successfully modded their One X phones. It's the careless people who have gotten in trouble.
And you can always downgrade your hboot...like the others have said the only people hard bricking this phone are the.ignorant people who are simply to lazy to do some research with the expensive phone in their hand. I dint get why someone wouldn't check everything out but whatever floats there boat
Whatever you do please don't search HTC one x. We are the HTC one XL and stay away from a ROM called Ice Cold Jelly. Stay away. Please and thank you

If you go into fastboot, you will see it as well. If you have the att version HTC one xl(l for lte) version then you have evita.
yes you will lose beats audio. It is just software. It hardly makes a difference. I dont recommend flashing an AOSP rom or CM10 rom and such as the battery life is very very bad compared to sense roms

/system is where the current ROM/OS is stored. If you wipe it, then obviously you will have no OS.
But more more importantly: Don't wipe things if you don't know what they are.

There is no international at&t, there's international quad OR at&t Dual
There is no 2.10 hboot for the dual either. 1.09,1.11,1.14,2.14 <-- Are all I've ever seen.
I would check bootloader to see what the device codename is just to be safe for future reference.
I did some research on this a few days ago. He has the Evita_UTL, which is another version of the dual-core found in the middle east (I'm guessing that's why he's referring to it as the "International" One XL).
The hboot versions are different from ours (I've only seen 2.10 so far), but one person had said that they had successfully loaded one of our ROMs onto one of these things.
Chances are it's safe, but I wouldn't want to risk it. There's very little information available about this model, and I'm not game enough to give advice on it.

The term "international version" means nothing at this point, and just a source of confusion. It was relevant in the first few months, when the dual core EVITA was only being offered in US and Canada, and the quad core ENDEAVORU was being sold in multiple countries. Now that the EVITA is available in so many countries (UK, Australia, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, and more), it can decidedly be considered "international". Sure, there is the "XL" designation (used for all the dual core EVITA versions outside of North America). But that just adds to the confusion.
Many folks here still use the term "international" to be synonymous to the ENDEAVORU. But its much less confusing to stick with the the code names (EVITA vs. ENDEAVORU) and get away from "international" and "not international" (non-international, un-international?).

I personally think it's the opposite, I think it's the "incorrect" branding used by North American carriers that's caused all the confusion. The model is known as the One XL everywhere in the world except for North America, where the carriers decided to screw with the model designation for marketing reasons.

My point was that the usage of the names X and XL for the same device (EVITA) adds to the confusion, not that XL is "incorrect".

A while back, a user (forgot who) recommended using the code names (ENDEAVORU versus EVITA) in the two respective forum section titles, instead of the current naming convention (HTC One X versus AT&T, Rogers etc.). I thought this was a fantastic idea. But apparently the mods didn't agree, and nothing ever changed..

I think it's a great idea too. Maybe the only problem with it is that your average n00b looking to root is most likely not aware of the code names? Therefore making it difficult for them to find the correct forum.
EDIT: in saying that, it's already difficult for em to find the correct forum with the current naming format.

It is a good idea. Would also force people to check there bootloader prior to doing anything which would prevent some bricking.
I will be sure to refer to them this way from here on out though if you guys do. Any Regular helpers on here who happen to see these posts, might be good to do the same.

Gotcha, evita it is
Bricked? - No OS
I am in a similar situation. HTC One X Evita. Unlocked. HBoot 2.14. TWRP Recovery. No OS (yes it was wiped). I can see directories in TWRP. I can get to Bootloader and into Recovery. I was able to see /sdcard/ if I mounted it in TWRP. Now I haven't seen it for a few hours.
According to my son, he was able to copy (not adb sideload) CM10.1 onto /sdcard/ and tried to install it. After this it just bootlooped on the CM logo. He wiped it again (then bought a Nexus 4 haha). I left my company and want to use this phone as my daily dialer.
Is it bricked? How do I get anything onto the phone if the laptop won't recognize it to run Fastboot or ADB? Hopefully a point in the right direction will help. I have 24 tabs open of discussion that are similar but haven't helped.
