Got AT&T to replace my One X - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Basically my WiFi signal drops and reconnects every 5 minutes, and sometimes I lose "4G" and all bars of service completely. AT&T told me to call HTC. The guy made me apply pressure to the back of the phone under the camera, and all of a sudden, my WiFi signal was strong and stable. He said I would have to mail them my phone, so I said no way, I'm not going to be without a phone for like a week or more, so I called AT&T, told them HTC told me it was a hardware issue not a software issue, so finally, after spending 2+ hours on the phone, AT&T is sending me a replacement phone.
Thought I would share this in case there are others in a similar situation.

You had to return your old phone though, right? I would do the same but I can't be without a phone

when you get sent a new one they send you a post paid sticker to put the old phone in. You don't go without.

Sounds like someone needs to start testing for the S-Off guys

Are you saying I should test S-off on the phone I'm sending back to AT&T? I'm already worried about relocking the bootloader and flashing stock RUU before I send it back lol.

If you brick it they won't know.

Exactly what I'm saying. I'd bet they automate scripts to test so it's a one click, or get on chat and walk you through it step by step.

Oh awesome, I need to look into this then. Thanks!

I'd really look over the devices you get sent if I were you. They've sent me out 3 warranty replacements (waiting for the 4th) but I keep sending them back because they all have extremely noticeable defects. They said they will keep sending them until I get one that is in good condition. I don't have to argue with them at all. I wish I could go to a completely different phone but they won't do that.

Just call the AT&T customer service 1-800 number. Explain your issue, say you already did a factory reset, and they should offer to replace the phone.

My power button is hard to press now. It takes two/three presses to function. My phone is new so I called tmobile and they said there is nothing they can do as far as that issue. It isnt a known issue as far as the device. Has anyone noticed this? Or am I crazy lol? I looked online and some people say they were able to get a replacement. I think I will call again tomorrow. also i know money people wont look at this post but the same thing happened to my nexus one, the phone is perfectly fine but i guess months of pressing it too hard to get it into boot loader etc etc.. depressed the button underneath the powerbutton so nowi have a nexus on my draw that i cant get fixed htc said theys do it for 198 or 98 one of the 2 either way they can suck it im sure its not that hard to fix
so everyone take it easy on your power buttons they mess up every now and then
as for waranty and insurance i dont have any i think the insurance company is a rip off 6 dollars a month to just send u a refurbished phone that will have the same problem if not a new one in a couple of weeks if not months.

Problems after the update

So a couple of days ago I got the OTA Gingerbread update. After the update my phone has had some problems. When I text, the buttons stop vibrating sometimes. And also some of my contacts on the messaging app just show up as phone numbers. So please tell me what may be happening.
Can't offer any explanations but keep in mind, ota updates can be problematic because its insalling on top of what's currently installed, as opposed to wiping and doing a clean install.
Sent from my Inspire 4G using XDA App
I would suggest taking the phone in or possibly better off calling tech support and have them re push the update and go from there...or just root it and flash a custom ROM and enjoy the phone how it should've been.

The only problem to rooting my phone is that I might want to trade it in for another Inspire, because the screen is starting to pop out of the phone in the bottom left corner. I just don't want my phone to void the warrenty, and make it so I can't return it.

I've returned 2 phone because of that, 1st one was within the original 30 days and 2nd one was after and I thankfully have a tech warranty center close by.
How ever on the second one, a refurb I don't have working GPS and the guy would not let me exchange it again and gave me a number for HTC to call and get it exchanged that way, why I'm not sure but it may have been my fault any way. Lol

Weird. Thats the newest hardware with the oldest firmware. Either way it doesn't matter as there is a root for everything right now. Good thing you got the latest hardware though.
I'd like to go ahead and confirm my experience here too.
The first four characters of my serial number are "HT24". It's not as recent as the OP's, but I'd like to think it's relatively new.
At any rate, I received a warranty replacement with 1.73.
Moreover, it came with SuperCID 111111 and the "re-locked" identifier. This doesn't particularly perturb me as it saved me a few seconds when unlocking. Yeah, I ended up with someone's leftovers with some newer parts.
Battery life on the replacement is around 5.5 hours of screentime with 30% brightness and LTE enabled. I think refurb is preferable since it's cosmetically pristine and every part has been tested more stringently than a factory original.
It's odd that they aren't being re locked and cid reset. Is refurbishment done by AT&T or the manufacturer typically?

Typically, refurbishments are done by the manufacturer. AT&T just serves as an intermediate in the process that makes sure you have a phone as quick as possible. Once they receive our broken phones, they have the pleasure of doing what we did not want to do - deal with HTC.
If you had to deal with the manufacturer directly, you would be looking at two to three weeks for a replacement device.

HTC seems to be very understanding. Unless it's bricked or something directly related to unlocking the bootloader I doubt they care. And legally they can't. It's like taking your car in for warranty repair on the engine and they void the warranty because you installed better brake pads.

Nah, I think you'll be alright. The most expensive parts are the glass/digitizer. Insurance claims are 200 bucks, but they'll probably just chalk this up to normal wear and tear, replace the case, and be done with it.

So I got a new att HTC one x last week for 9.99 from att. I love it! But now I'm liking the Lumia 920 and the x+ that's coming out this Friday for 200. I still have a week to exchange my phone...what should I do?
I already rooted and have cm10 running. And I'm happy other than battery life. But that's ok I always have a charger near by. I only like the true Google experience and hate the sense ui. But I did like my old wp7 phone. What should I do? Keep my one x or exchange it for the one x+? Our the Lumia 920?

Android to wp8 won't be a sweet transition so i would say that you go and get x+ if at all they happen to take it back !

I personally not invest any time or money in a phone OS that has a 1 to 2 % market share, such as in the base of Windows Phone (market data showing WP at just under 4% market share actually include those that are still on the old Windows Mobile platform, and have simply not updated their devices).

I say wait till windows OS matures (maybe a generation after this one) because they don't have many important apps in their market ecosystem, currently. HTC One X is a good phone and you won't miss much except for the wireless charging plate included in the Lumia 920; uses the same processor too.
