Weird. Thats the newest hardware with the oldest firmware. Either way it doesn't matter as there is a root for everything right now. Good thing you got the latest hardware though.
I'd like to go ahead and confirm my experience here too.
The first four characters of my serial number are "HT24". It's not as recent as the OP's, but I'd like to think it's relatively new.
At any rate, I received a warranty replacement with 1.73.
Moreover, it came with SuperCID 111111 and the "re-locked" identifier. This doesn't particularly perturb me as it saved me a few seconds when unlocking. Yeah, I ended up with someone's leftovers with some newer parts.
Battery life on the replacement is around 5.5 hours of screentime with 30% brightness and LTE enabled. I think refurb is preferable since it's cosmetically pristine and every part has been tested more stringently than a factory original.
It's odd that they aren't being re locked and cid reset. Is refurbishment done by AT&T or the manufacturer typically?

Typically, refurbishments are done by the manufacturer. AT&T just serves as an intermediate in the process that makes sure you have a phone as quick as possible. Once they receive our broken phones, they have the pleasure of doing what we did not want to do - deal with HTC.
If you had to deal with the manufacturer directly, you would be looking at two to three weeks for a replacement device.

HTC refurbs them and AT&T is the distributor for warranty exchanges. You're lucky though... AT&T usually doesn't take devices that were tampered with.

HTC seems to be very understanding. Unless it's bricked or something directly related to unlocking the bootloader I doubt they care. And legally they can't. It's like taking your car in for warranty repair on the engine and they void the warranty because you installed better brake pads.

So a couple of days ago I got the OTA Gingerbread update. After the update my phone has had some problems. When I text, the buttons stop vibrating sometimes. And also some of my contacts on the messaging app just show up as phone numbers. So please tell me what may be happening.
Can't offer any explanations but keep in mind, ota updates can be problematic because its insalling on top of what's currently installed, as opposed to wiping and doing a clean install.

I would suggest taking the phone in or possibly better off calling tech support and have them re push the update and go from there...or just root it and flash a custom ROM and enjoy the phone how it should've been.

The only problem to rooting my phone is that I might want to trade it in for another Inspire, because the screen is starting to pop out of the phone in the bottom left corner. I just don't want my phone to void the warrenty, and make it so I can't return it.

I've returned 2 phone because of that, 1st one was within the original 30 days and 2nd one was after and I thankfully have a tech warranty center close by.
How ever on the second one, a refurb I don't have working GPS and the guy would not let me exchange it again and gave me a number for HTC to call and get it exchanged that way, why I'm not sure but it may have been my fault any way. Lol

amazon is a big ole warehouse. They don't do anything but get products in and send products out. Any changes are coming probably straight from HTC when shipped.
I'm in the same boat. Got one from an att store after they got released from customs. Happy with the phone so far, but hopeful a root method is found for 1.85.

As far as I know the 1.88 won't install as it isn't meant for this phone.
I got a grey rooted & bootloader unlocked. If anyone is really serious about root, I can trade for a white one, I really don't care much about root n bootloader. pm me.

Basically my WiFi signal drops and reconnects every 5 minutes, and sometimes I lose "4G" and all bars of service completely. AT&T told me to call HTC. The guy made me apply pressure to the back of the phone under the camera, and all of a sudden, my WiFi signal was strong and stable. He said I would have to mail them my phone, so I said no way, I'm not going to be without a phone for like a week or more, so I called AT&T, told them HTC told me it was a hardware issue not a software issue, so finally, after spending 2+ hours on the phone, AT&T is sending me a replacement phone.
Thought I would share this in case there are others in a similar situation.

I'd really look over the devices you get sent if I were you. They've sent me out 3 warranty replacements (waiting for the 4th) but I keep sending them back because they all have extremely noticeable defects. They said they will keep sending them until I get one that is in good condition. I don't have to argue with them at all. I wish I could go to a completely different phone but they won't do that.

I have a replacement due here tomorrow and I dropped my phone today. Will AT&T charge me ($504 i think) because of this body damage?
Hope not
Nah, I think you'll be alright. The most expensive parts are the glass/digitizer. Insurance claims are 200 bucks, but they'll probably just chalk this up to normal wear and tear, replace the case, and be done with it.

Yay!
So I'm having an issue where the lcd keeps shutting off and the only way to get it to flash back on either for a split second or for an unknown amount of time is to tap the back upper left side of the phone and/or the upper left side of the phone.
Now, I have elected to return the phone to HTC for repair as I've only had it since October of last year and figured if its still under warranty, why not?
My question for you guys is how do I get my phone ready for shipment back to HTC? For example, I have the BL unlocked and its rooted with cm10. My boot loader says "tampered" and "unlocked". I've read a few places that say once you relock the BL it will say "Relocked" instead of the stock "Locked" text. Will this be a problem if I'm sending it in for repair? Also, the "tampered" text is from rooting right?
How do I get my phone ALL THE WAY back to stock?
Thanks in advance guys!
-Billy
Edit: I've also read some suggesting to just flash a international ROM and brick the whole thing so they don't have a choice but to send me a new one. Is that suggested? I'd rather not have to do that but I will if I can't get back to bone stock

Lol they will not send back phone if deemed out of warranty , they will add price of phone to your bill. Its all stated in return phone shipping items but they do not deem it out of warranty because it says relock. They will be looking for water damage indicator color in sim harness or evidence of dropped phone. There was a huge return of these phones do to faulty power button wiring. Just install ruu , lol they don't even go into boot loader when they check phone let alone hook it into there magic Linux box.. as long as no water or cracked screen you will have no prob...if you that worried file insurance claim and pay 200 copay. What's lame is if you send in under warranty and they find it out of warranty due to user they auto bill your account and will Not send it to ins. Its all stated in return label packaging.....
