Rooting from 9.2.1.27 - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sorry but I've looking everywhere and I'm not quite sure I understand. But how would I go about rooting my transformer if I have the stock 9.2.1.27 already and not rooted before or now. I've seen patches for this update if you already have CWM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1627301 Do I need to downgrade somehow and root it (if so, how do I downgrade?)

PERI works on .27.

I second this! Used PERI to root and it worked like a charm and pretty much noob proof as i was a noob as well when i just got my tf101 about 3 weeks ago.

Another option would be to downgrade to Honeycomb
What I did was use Wolf's method #2 as found in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1622628
I then used the NachRoot method to obtain root as found in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427838&page=1
I then installed Rogue Recovery 1/3/0 as found in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1346180
and updated recovery to 5.5.0.4 as found in this thread

I just got a used tf101 and updated to .27 not know the root issues people are having and found out myself nothing works. Ive tried Peri multiple times and doesnt work ive tried numerous "one click roots" and they all do nothing. Now if i try to boot into recovery i get a dead android guy so i assume i dont have a recovery image and that could be my problem. If anyone has any ideas please share. I would really like to get cm9 on my tab as i have it on my sgs2 and its by far the best

The /data/local/tmp link
Peri worked for me with a .27 tf101, but when running Peri I suggest restoring the /data/local/tmp afterwards
e.g.
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp
adb shell mv /data/local/tmp.bak /data/local/tmp

Hi dudes,
happy to found this EEEpad forum.
My name is Oliver 39 from w-germany...
My girlfriend own the tf101 with update 9.2.1.27...and since she updated
the wifi works very bad, so i tried PERI, but it wont work for me ?!
"Could not open file" ?!
Any idea? - THX and best regards, Oliver
EDIT: tried 0.2, 0.3, 0.4...but always the same message...

So, im rooted 3.2.1 and now i can not for th life of me find a method for putting cwm on here. The guide i found needs to be flashed through cwm and the link in the asus tf reference page in the dev section points to a method that appears to have been patched last spring. Any ideas?

[Q] nachoroot suddenly fails with same firmware

At first nachoroot rooting worked fine on my ASUS eee pad transformer tf101 with a B50xxxx serial with firmware 8.6.5.21(WW) and I installed CWM and made a full system backup with it.
As a test I used NVflash (APX mode) together with firmware 8.6.5.13(WW) and that worked but it erased CWM.
I let it auto update (OTA) to 8.6.5.21 again but now it refuses to do the nachoroot so I can't install CWM and can't restore my backup
I'm getting the 'cannot create /data/local.prop: permission denied ...' error
EITHER I'd need firmware 8.6.5.19 so I can use Razorclaw one-click-root. Does anyone have that for me ? OR how could I restore CWM with NVflash ? Any help is appreciated !
Look here, it show how to get 8.6.6.19 to use RazorClaw
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1417006
Probably easier if you root with this method and flash CWM recovery

You need to make sure asussync is up and running and synced before you can do anything. Just keep pressing try again.

THANKS ! It updated fine and I could then use the Razorclaw tool to get root and then install CWM and then restore my backup.
I had been googling for 8.6.5.19 maybe that is why I couldnt find it. There has only been a 8.6.6.19 (3G version) ?

How to get root and CWM back after ICS WW update?

Yes I know. Yet another ICS thread (as if we don't have enough already).
I know there are already a few threads on flashing to ICS US (with WW forthcoming no doubt). But I already just updated to ICS WW. I need root and CWM back. Otherwise it means flashing back to an old version of with nvflash or whatever (thus losing all my data yet again) and performing the whole thing again through CWM instead of using the official update process. Pain!
Try the ViperMod, seeing reports that it work.
OTA Rootkeeper ;-)

I believed it's the same one that work for both Prime and TF101
Yes, I'm trying it with the Prime version and it's not working for me.
Asking me if uid and gid are zero and they are both 2000. Booo.
I chose option 1 and got root. Was unable to unlock the bootloader and install Clockworks though.

Try here

for recovery, I prefer Rogue XM recovery, allows you to use the internal sd as well as the external.

Any root that works on the stock new 9.2.1.24 WW?

Never rooted my TF101.. But now need root to be able to install an important app..
I have searched the web and didnt find any info for the new 9.2.1.24
So is there any working root?
Thanks
If you have a serial number that starts from earlier B70 and below, use BRK's root toolkit.
Do a search here; I've always used this to root my B60 regardless of the firmware version I have.
Where did you find it? At asus website I see us, cn and tw, but no ww.
Today a new .21 showed to de devices, but still no .24 ww.

Hmm.. I live in Swe.. And got .24
.24 is WW and they written about it in the ota changelog info
Here in France, I got the update late last friday.
I think it'll take some time to get widely distributed.
I'm interested in a rooting solution for my C10 though (never rooted this TF101 before), but I'm not stressed about that.
Nickola
I couldn't use any root exploit when I upgraded to .24. I bricked my device when I accidentally flashed the wrong kernel on my B70 (gotta clean out that MSD Card), so I got lucky when I was able to get into APX and flash .17, root it using ViperMod (using option number 1 for the tf201), then used Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper, upgraded to .21, used VOTA Rootkeeper again to reestablish root (and then used Titanium Backup to fix, as it indicated there was an error with the folder structure), then upgraded to .24 and again, used VOTA rootkeeper and Titanium backup to fix.

Have yoy tested this on the .24?
I used Vipermod to root, Voodoo to protect/restore root and Titanium backup for insurance. Everything worked just fine after .24 upgrade, no issues.
However, there's a noticeable increase in speed. Did anyone else have the same experience with rooted, stock units?
As long as you have CWM can't you just root through that?

You can root latest with my PERI tool, or using Nvflash.

I'm not sure what went wrong with yours, but IMO by far the simplest and easiest root method for our devices is the one in this thread. Just flash from recovery (stock recovery is fine). That should take care of it.
