I did some searching around, but apparently no one else has posted any issues with tethering on ICS.
I have my Skyrocket updated to the official ICS Rom released yesterday (I727UCLF6) and rooted, but the settings just FC if I go into the wireless hotspot options. This crash occurred before I rooted the new update as well. Any ideas why this is happening? Anyone else unable to tether?
yes i also problem if i shut down or reset to phone

Hi I'm running thiaiz's rom v 2.7.1, not overclocked. Got an issue with connecting to a wifi hotspot that i create on the phone.
I can set up the hotspot and it confirms that it's running then when i try connecting another device to it, with or without password encryption, its says 'unable to connect'.
Is this likely to be a root/rom issue, LG hardware problem or an issue with vodafone?
thanks
rod
Most probably is a ROM issue. It is certainly not a hardware problem or a stock rom problem. I'm using the WiFi Hotspot without a problem with any stock rom.
Thiaiz's original v2.7.1 rom had a problem with the WiFi Hotspot and he released a patch to fix it. Look at the v2.7.1 original thread to download the patch.
Might be entitlement enabled.
At that was what happened to mine with Rogers.

Hi, my friend has an SGH-i727R, stock ICS 4.04 unrooted and with Fido Canada. He was upgraded to 4.04 about 6 months ago, and there were no problems with the Wifi then.
He came back from his holiday and his phone's wifi had been stuck in the "turning on" position for a long time, and nothing can fix it.
He doesn't have a data plan, and I've tried installing stuff like Advanced Wifi Lock and Wifi Fixer through his SD Card, but it still won't turn on. He's done a factory reset, but it didn't solve the problem.
Is it a hardware problem? I want to ask before I root and install a custom ROM for him.
EDIT: It was on 4.1.2
I would Odin the stock jb firmware and see if it's still an issue. If it is, then it's probably hardware.
Friend Updated a Stock GT-P3113 using OTA update (Android 4.2.2) and it broke his WiFi. The WiFi does not turn "on" and cannot see any WiFi Networks.
The unit is out of warranty (bought last July i believe), and Samsung Customer "Service" says its a known issue the OTA but they want $100 USD to fix the problem they made.
So...
I rooted his device using Odin and installed CM 10.2 Official Nightly Build following all the wipe instructions. Booted up great but No WiFi.
I then decided to Return everything to the earliest p3113 Stock image, so I Signed up for the Samsung Official Forums, downloaded the Official Rom, and uploaded the ROM using Odin. Now running Stock 4.0.4, No WiFi...
Bluetooth seems to initialize and the ROM reads a MAC address, but I am unsure what to try next. I suspected a hardware issue but Bluetooth works, and the system never overheated...
Search Turns of only Hardware replacement, and WiFi Fixer does nothing. Any other ideas?
Agak nya sy juga tidak mengerti gan
Try to search in the forum about wpa_supplicant . I think i might Help.
I have the same problem!

Hi so I recently flashed my buddies one s with cyanogen mod and pacman ROM and the ROMs both work flawlessly other then the problem with wifi. The wifi doesn't seem to want to hold a connection. Is there a radio I can flash to get this working? He keeps complaining about the wifi dropping right after connecting. The problem only happened after I rooted and flashed his phone. Any help would be appreciated.

I have also this problem with my One S. It seems that it doesn't want to connect to all WiFi networks since WiFi doesn't work in my home but it works in my school. Someone suggested to me that the problem is bad version of wpa-supplicant binary. I didn't have this problem until I flashed CM10.2 Stable. Sometimes WiFi won't connect before I switch WiFi off and back on. Currently the only solution seems to be changing the settings of the WiFi router if possible. Make sure that WiFi channel is 11 or smaller and try changing the encryption settings.
