[Q] No cellular wireless signal after Cyanogenmod 9 - ICS on i897

Not getting a cell phone signal at all on my Captivate. very rarely I get it and it stays on until I reboot for some reason, or sometimes goes off on its own. No problem with wi-fi or anything else.
Have had Gingerbread 2.3.5 - KK4 (official) for a long time, and did not have this problem. Here is what I did:
Installed Cyanogenmod 9.0 (ICS 4.0.4) on my Captivate that had the stock Gingerbread KK4. Also installed the gapps-ics package from 29 April 2012
I did this after rooting, and installing clockworkmod.
Even updated it to Cyanogenmod 9.1, but have the same issues.
More detail on it:
- The cellular radio shows no signal, but Wifi is on fine.
- When I press the power button, I see the power off and reboot options, including one that says "Airplane Mode is ON", although it clearly isn't since Wifi is working
- A couple of times, I rebooted into recovery, and did a "repair permissions" and rebooted, and it got a signal, but does not happen always
- Once the signal is on, it stays on for the whole day, but goes off again after a reboot
- Turning Airplane mode on and off does not help
Is this a modem issue, that seems to be a popular problem. It's almost as if there is a software bug that fools the phone into switching off wireless radio
Please help me fix it, or share successful fixes

I had same problem when I went to helly bean then back to remics-jb I flashed back to stock then back up to what I wanted it fixed the problem so I think its the modem.

So were you able to fix? I had a similar problem as well; I made the mistake of putting cm9.1 on and it bricked because I followed the instructions that popped up when I thought I had flashed it correctly. I tried everything; this is my daily driver so I had no choice but to find a fix, and find it fast as my clients were unable to get a hold of me for a few hours.... Anyways, got a little off track; but did you fix?

KK4 is what you'll want to go back to stock but I highly suggest you read this before you do anything http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350266
Also, before returning to stock, you could try flashing a different modem.

Check to see if your baseband is still there. If it said "Unknown", you need to restore it. CM9 is supposed to have the modem.bin file included though. Check to see if the /radio folder have modem.bin in it, if it does, and the baseband still say Uknown, then manually delete the modem.bin, do a wipe and reflash a CM rom that have modem.bin included.
If Baseband is still there and still no signal, then check to see if IMEI is corrupted or lost (if its null or doesn't match the back of the phone). You can either copy over the efs backup folder if you have one and "fix permission" in CWM. If not, then you need to ODIN the phone to stock to fix it.

WiFi stopped working after flashing resurrection remix Rom

Hi,
So I got my first problem while flashing today, have played with roms and things on my s3 a few times and dispute being a noob never had any bad experiences.
Earlier today I decided to root my note 10.1 gt-n8010 (uk) which also went fine and no problems, I then decided to try a custom Rom after I wasn't that impressed with the ota jelly bean 4.1.1 update and flashed resurrection Rom with the jelly bean 4.1.2 via cwm to see how that stacked up. However on the first time I ran it I noticed I couldn't connect to my WiFi anymore, I rebooted my note to see if that would help but it didn't.
I can get into the WiFi menu ok and fill in my WiFi code ok, but them just get a message saying 'failed to connect to WiFi'
So has anyone else had this problem or know of fix for it because as you can imagine is quite annoying, if there is nothing I guess I have to flash another Rom?

I would suggest flashing CyanogenMod nightly, it has the latest Adndroid version 4.2.1 and it has very few bugs.

Suggest wipe and flash .

Wifi Problem(Galaxy fit)

I can connect to the wi-fi but the problem is when i go to play store or any internet-related apps(browser,etc) it says an error like on play store it loads then it will say "No Connection".I was only the one using the router as well so it's not possible that the network is busy. I restarted my router but that didn't help.I tried connecting to another router from my cousin's but it still says no connection even there's internet and it goes smoothly on a laptop and i can see the icon of wi-fi as blue(like going gray at first then going blue).I am using the 4.2.2 rom and cm 10.1(April 2,2013).I wiped my phone when i upgraded to the 4.2.2 rom but i was using the February release of cm 10.1 which is smooth and wi-fi working as well but i saw a newer version so i upgraded to April 2 release without wiping(I saw some post that you don't need to full wipe when upgrading Cyanogenmod versions unless its pre 07.01 release but i started with the february release).BTW,I am using a Galaxy fit GT-S5670 phone.So what will i do?Please try to answer me...

Try to re-install the ROM, do a complete wipe,wipe data,wipe cache and wipe dalvik cache.
Do not use any script yet,check if wifi works.
If it doesn't work then try a different rom (preferably stock rom)
If it still doesn't work then flash a stock rom of your country or you need to go to service centre if everything fails.

Friend's SGH-i727R Wifi turning on?

Hi, my friend has an SGH-i727R, stock ICS 4.04 unrooted and with Fido Canada. He was upgraded to 4.04 about 6 months ago, and there were no problems with the Wifi then.
He came back from his holiday and his phone's wifi had been stuck in the "turning on" position for a long time, and nothing can fix it.
He doesn't have a data plan, and I've tried installing stuff like Advanced Wifi Lock and Wifi Fixer through his SD Card, but it still won't turn on. He's done a factory reset, but it didn't solve the problem.
Is it a hardware problem? I want to ask before I root and install a custom ROM for him.
EDIT: It was on 4.1.2

I would Odin the stock jb firmware and see if it's still an issue. If it is, then it's probably hardware.

Another WiFi Problem Thread with a twist

I picked up a cracked screen Sensation for my son and discovered it also had funky wifi/BT. It was bone stock running 4.0.3.
I unlocked the boot loaded, S-OFF'd, rooted and updated firmware to 3.33.
Did my research here and determined my issue was HDW related. So I order a new digitizer and LCD flex (the later includes the wifi chip).
While I waited for my kit to arrive I flashed CM10, 8/4 build I think.
Well yesterday I did my repairs and fired up the phone only to see wifi stuck at turning on - and the phone rebooting every so often. BT, however was now working fine.
So here is the twist.
I restored my stk 4.0.3 rooted nandroid and wifi works fine!:good:
But if I do a clean install of CM10 - again wifi does not work
I have read about the issues with wifi and being S-ON, but I am S-OFF.
Any thought s on how to get CM working?

Sometimes ROMs have problems with wifi, I had similliar problem with another ROM.
Some users with HTC Amaze report builds prior to April 5 had Wifi problems. Did you try CM10.1/2? For me there is no problem with wifi at all, worth a shot.

Maybe try a different ROM?
I have also experienced some wi fi issues with some of the CM 10.1/10.2 ROMS. Since there is not really an "official" CM 10.1 ROM for the sensation, you sort of have to accept that there may be some bugs. I would suggest trying CM 9.1 and see if that works for you. Since you seem to be doing a complete wipe and format before the upgrades, the only other problem could possibly be some sort of hardware issue. However, I suspect that since it worked well on a previous ROM that the problem is ROM related. I would suggest you try all the various ROMs to see if the problem goes (mostly) away on one of them. I'm current running a 10.2 ROM and have noticed intermittent problems with connecting to Wi fi, but, on the most part, things work fine.
