my phone's battery is kind of swollen :-d n i am getting very low backup... and the thing is my phone's in warranty period .. and obviously it is rooted :-D so if i install my gb stock rom and then go to the service centre will they come to know that i had rooted my phone?
Battery and accessories have a warranty period of only 6 months...the one year warranty is for the phone only...
Flash a stock rom, and they wouldn't know a thing...

even you can hide apps like super user and all which shows your phone is rooted, and you get your back and obviously new battery within 6 months.
If you want to replace your battery then no need to reverse back to stock rom.. as they are not going to check your phone
Battery Replacement
i agree wid alvin as i replaced my one few month before(just before 6 month )

Hey guys. I am wondering if I should get a replacement for my G1. I payed $430 , i love the phone! I rooted it ,thanks to the awsome work of XDA developers!!!Thank you very much! I just got a free battery from T-Mobile , but the cricks from the screen and the loosiness is making me replace it. The only thing is that i won`t get a new phone since im using the 90 day warranty. It will be refurbished... What do you guys think? If I send my back , will the notice that i has been rooted, eventhough i`ll flash to normal rc33 Image ?
Don't do it. The creak can be fixed by trimming a simple piece of plastic. You'd better not risk getting an even more faulty phone. Search for the solution.

How did you get a free new battery? I want one too.
But ther rep says that if its not working as i want, i can replace it again. I don`t want to do it my self... My friends phone is not like that, and he have had the phone for longer.. I dunno....grrr...
Btw i just called tmobile and told them that my batter sux, otherwise i love the phone. Told them that i tried everything , from turning gps off and stuff and i still get 3-4 hours which is true... so they said that im in the 90 days warranty so they will send me a new battery and i don`t have to send my old one back wow..
Just get a replacement. Why put up with the hassle of fixing it yourself if you can just get it replaced?
idk, i would say keep your phone, i have always had issues with refurbished replacements, when i was with AT&T and my tilt stopped working they ended up sending me 6 different replacements, all but one were faulty on arrival, the one that wasn't i ended up making faulty cause Hard-SPL wouldn't install. imo it would be better to deal with a minor inconvenience than to get a refurbished phone and be screwed repeatedly till you get one that works
i just say that the phone goes for 200$ refurbished on the net... I payed 430$ , no way doing that... if they were to give me a new one i would accept it
I changed my phone because of this problem, but the other phone ended up with this problem within a few weeks. Not worth the hassle and the noise can be fixed by cutting some plastic away, google for more info.
So I just got this Captivate and it's not rooted or anything. I used the Sideloading Wonder just once for an app. But then I tried to do a software update and the phone went black. After about 30 minutes it was really hot and I could not turn it back on. Any suggestions as to what the problem may be?
Installing one app with sideload wonder mechine, should not have casued any issues.
If your phone "Bricked" while downloading and installing the update, I recommend taking it into an AT&T warranty center and have them replace it. There are ways in most cases to unbrick the phone (I think), but that requires flashing a ROM which will void the warranty and possibility make it so you cannot replace the phone under warranty.
When you go into the warranty store that you received a message to update the phone and it froze during the update and will not wake back up. They will either fix it on the spot, which I doubt, or excahnge it for a referb that will still be under warranty for the rest of your 1 year warranty period.
Is there any reason the phone isnt coming back on at all. I mean do you think maybe the battery could just be shot and all i need is a new battery?
If its a new phone and not refurbished, I highly doubt its just the battery.
On another android forum there was a topic about over clocking, it mentioned the battery will begin to deteriorate when it hits temperatures around 140F, it never said it would completely fail. (correct me if I'm wrong)
But, it may be possible, but I don't think it would be the complete reason.

i have my g2x rooted and running great the only problem is battery life i went from a full charge to 65 percent in about 2 and a half hrs! with just sending a few texts and chatting on skype for about 10 min, i called tmobile and here are my options i can wait till may 5th and they can just send me a battery or i can take it back and risk getting a defective one! I have never had any random reboots or freezing so far! except when i deleted some tmobile bloatware i got a couple fc's and had to restart then everything was fine! what should i do?
What processes are running in the background? Which task killer app are you running with what kill frequency?

why would you have to wait until may 5th for a replacement of a defective item. and it is defective if you do the right thing with it let it drain all the way than fully charge a couple times.
I have an up time off charger for 22 hours now some texting , some messing with phone a couple calls. and still at 67% intentially testing to see how it did. in mainly standby with minimal use. when i get my hdmi cord tommorow ill start pushing it . want to make sure it doesnt over heat or burn up like some report.
But by may 5th the 2 weeks will be up and if its something other than the battery it will be more difficult to get replaced. a year warrenty at least and if you have insurance with tmobile it covers everything that is a phone defect with no deductable(i was told) so just more of a pain.
keep doing what ever your doing run that puppy until it dies and recharge leave on for 2 hours after it says its charged and see if its any better. if not id look more into why you have to wait for may 5th to get a replacement.
After clearing all the crap off the phone, I left mine on most of the day. After eight hours comprised of about and hour talking, a fair mount of browsing the web, etc, and most of it with wifi calling active, I'm at 50%.
nothing really i use auto killer memory to close what ever i open
i have tried the drain the battery all the way down and they still didnt work! i tried the reset the phone as well i guess i will take it back, one question tho do i have to unroot and return the tmobile apps for them to take it back?

I would love to be able to get that kind of battery life lol...are you doing anything special for that?
I think the top part goes really fast and it will take a long time to get from 50% to 0. Also, it's just in the first few days I think it will act a little differently after a few charges.
edit: why are you guys using taskkillers or autokiller?

I was going to ask the same thing. Wouldn't this make the battery worse, if anything?
do i have to unroot and return the tmobile apps for them to take it back? please let me know
I'm also considering returning it but first I will wait for few days and see if it gets better. However I was wondering, what is tmobile's return policy for off contract phones? Is it true that you can return it anytime within a month?

Yes you do. Rooting voids any warranty you have on the device.
i was told 14 days buyers remorse period is what the tmobile said when i called today

That's correct but I would still imagine that rooting your phone could void this in the same way it voids any warranty.
Hi,
I just bought white AT&T Skyrocket couple of days back. I have few issues.
1. battery is not good at all (I am working on re-calibrating the battery by wiping the battery stats and then charging/draining and recharging). Hopefully this problem may be solved.
2. Black blob test failed. I can see many many lines on that screen test. I am still okay with the screen. Because you only notice this in low light and less brightness.
3. My main concern is camera, When I click the picture it looks bright, but when it saves and I review it is very dull. This is a great concern.
Now I am thinking that is it because of the screen issue I have?
4. If I finally decide to return, can I just perform factory reset and it will take care of root/CWM? If not then what should I do?
Please advise..
Have no issues you are complaining about.. return it and get another phone..
Thanks
Thanks for quick response, but as I stated that my phone is rooted on the stock ROM. How should I return to stock, meaning do i have to remove rooting and CWM?
same for me, got the rogers version and picture are beautiful, battery problem i did have with my 1st skyrocket and i returned it a few days later, i seems as it takes a few days/week to unlock full capacity, also a little fine tuning with JD Ultimate gave me about a day and a half on regular use

I really don't think the att&t people are going to check for root... if you are in your 30 window. just return it and don't bother unrooting it..
Hi,
I just bought my LG G5 last week and I was wondering a few things.
First, will it void my warranty if I install LineageOS? I hate it that the stock comes with some apps I don't need, the battery isn't that long lasting anyway, so I hope that would help.
Second, would using another battery void my warranty? (Imagine I use a 3550mAh battery instead of the original 2800mAh one, and something gets burned, will I be able to get warranty on the phone? )
On that note, I've been looking for a decent replacement battery (just because I don't like hanging out with a big external battery) did anyone get one that's working well? Most of the batteries on Amazon has a really ****ty rating.
Thanks,
Fabian
Anytime you root the phone and install a 3rd party ROM, you are voiding the warranty....sort of.
I say sort of because if you can restore it to stock before service and there is no indication it had been previously rooted, then who's going to say it was? Additionally manufacturers often simply don't care, even will service a phone anyway even if it is rooted. Samsung is good about that in most cases. I don't have much experience with LG to tell you for sure about them.
Also if the motherboard gets completely fried and needs to be replaced, they just pull it and throw it away, never looking at what was on it. So they would never know it's rooted and would never be able to tell. But if you send it in for warranty service on the GPS but the phone works fine otherwise they might notice and may or may not care.
As for the battery, it shouldn't void the warranty. However, if an aftermarket battery explodes and kills the phone, that's not an LG warranty issue as it's not LG's fault that your 3rd party battery exploded. But if the screen died while you had a 3rd party battery installed, no that shouldn't impact warranty. Also...just put the LG battery back in before sending it in for service.
