I realize this may be obvious, but are you sure your working directory is the one when nvflash is located? Gotta check the simplest stuff first.

I extracted the .rar to folders on the desktop; the .rar itself is in the downloads folder.

Verify id nvflash.exe is in same dir?
Sent via G2X-SINGH-UI

Yes, nvflash.exe is in the same folder; there are 26 files in the folder.

So you seem to be trying to use nvflash.exe, but why don't you try using OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe ? I don't remember using command prompt before so I'm kind of confused as to why you're using it.

I am attempting to use OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe; it opens fine, and while depressing both volume rockers I connect my phone via USB, Windows recognises it (nVidia mobile driver is there in Device Manager), I choose Flash CWM 5.0.2.0 Internal and External SD ROM, and then the error message I get, in a blue window, is:
"nvflash.exe is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
Every time.

Try running one of the scripts directly? Since that's all its really doing...
Sent from my LG-P999 using Tapatalk 2

Okay, I put together a simple batch file that emuilates OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe. I tested it and it works, so here's hoping it works for you. Let me know if I messed anything up.
http://www.mediafire.com/?5r8obws9bh36bnf

I'm obviously doing something wrong, because that didn't work for me either. I extracted it to a folder on the desktop, and when I entered 1 and then enter, the window disappeared.
The procedure I use it, open NVFlash, depress the volume rockers and connect the phone via USB. At what point do I let go of the volume rockers?

I think there's your problem. Put your phone in update mode by holding down the buttons, THEN start NVFlashAid (unless you actually know the nvflash commands). Keep the buttons held until the window closes. Don't worry, it's really quick.

No difference, unfortunately. The NVFlashaid window disappears, and nothing else happens.
Within the NVFlashAid folder, there is the RUNME!.bat and a folder called NVFlashAid which contains multiple files, including RUNME!.bat. I have tried it with both RUNME!s with the same result.

nvflash.exe --bct HYNIX.bct --bl fastboot.bin --download 5 CWM_5.0.2.0.img
Navigate to that directory in command prompt, put the phone in update mode, and run that command. That's the last thing I can think of.

The battery is in when ur holding the buttons down?

Regrettably, I'm not savvy enough to know how to do that. I do know how to open the cmd prompt and copy/paste the quoted script, but navigating to the directory first is beyond me. I did copy/paste that and when I hit enter I got the same error message as mentioned in my previous posts. I do thank you for your time and effort though. :good:

No, I am following the guide from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847

Oh, why didn't you say you don't know how to change directories? Copy the NVFlashAid folder to the root of the C: drive (that is, C:\). Now open up command prompt, type in the following without the quotes "cd C:\NVFlashAid". Then use the command I listed.

Thank you for your continued efforts, but same error message:
"nvflash.exe is not recognized ..." bla bla bla
I'm wondering if it's a VMWare issue. I have succesfully rooted other phones through VMWare but the guide below says to "kill" Vm Ware:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
This is the only way I know how to run Windows on this laptop.

Are you using 64bit os?

You put the battery back in. It's possible it would work without, but putting it back in definitely works.
It's an odd process since the phone never reacts at all until you actually load the new bootloader.
after i install the driver do I just go into the folder where I extracted the nvflash zip flie and click on the application inside then just type in nvflash --sync ???

The test is:
nvflash --sync
The actual flash is:
nvflash --bct E1108_Hynix_512MB_H8TBR00U0MLR-0DM_300MHz_final_emmc_x8.bct --bl fastboot.bin --download 5 recovery-star-test2.img
Make sure you have the images all copied to the same directory as nvflash. Also, if you don't type it in exactly right, it will just hang and never do anything.

You don't sound too familiar with the command prompt, I'm not sure you want to go down this road since Rom Manager will flash recovery for you easily. In any case, there are posts in the nvflash thread in the Developer section that explain what to do exactly. Long story short is you open a command prompt window and navigate to the folder that contains the nvflash program. Then you type the command you want.

You have to open the command prompt manually either by going to your start menu then navigating to the directory with nvflash or holding shift and right clicking inside the windows folder with nvflash.

nvflash isn't something you install on your phone, it a windows and linux program that lets you flash images to your phone (such as custom recovery images like ClockworkMod recovery).

NVFlash method is much better (for now at least). The Rom Manager method doesn't seem to offer a way to hardware boot into recovery, at least not while in bootloop

I'm kind of at a loss how to explain it more. Here's the process:
1. Click on your Start Menu.
2. Click to open Command Prompt
3. Navigate to the directory with NVFlash in it from within Command Prompt
3a. Type "cd directoryname" (replacing directoryname with the actual directory name) to move up a directory (like from c: to c:\apps you type "cd apps").
3b. To move down a directory type "cd.."
4. Type "nvflash --sync" to test your connection.
5 Type "nvflash --bct E1108_Hynix_512MB_H8TBR00U0MLR-0DM_300MHz_final_emmc_x8.bct --bl fastboot.bin --download 5 recovery-star-test2.img" to flash.

unplug your phone from the usb. leave the other end plugged in to the pc.
TAKE OUT THE BATTERY! hold down both volume buttons while plugging in the usb. you should hear the windows device connected sound. let go of the volume buttons.
you open the command window like i stated. copy and paste this into the command window nvflash.exe --bct E1108_Hynix_512MB_H8TBR00U0MLR-0DM_300MHz_final_emmc_x8.bct --bl fastboot.bin --download 5 recovery-star-test2.img make sure there are no spaces between emmc and _x8.bct. copying and pasting has done this to me.
now press enter on your keyboard. you should get a software update screen on your phone. unplug the usb. put the battery back in. press volume down and power AND HOLD BOTH FOR AT LEAST 10-15 SECONDS. you should now be in custom recovery.

Can someone spell out what I need to do to unbrick my Transformer?

My Transformer informed me of an OTA update, which I tried to perform. It stuck on the boot screen and wouldn't go any further. I managed to wipe it and get it going again by switching off and pressing power and volume down, so I rebuilt it and it again wanted to do the update - with the same result.
I tried side-loading the update and again, it froze, so I downloaded and ran NVFLASHTF and now I can't get anything on the display whatsoever. All I can do is connect it to my PC and it makes the familiar connection sound and I can get to the SD card, but nothing else.
I need someone to show me what to do step-by-step as if I was completely stupid (which I obviously am!).
Please help if you can.
TIA
the nvflash sticky in the dev section includes a youtube video.
although the most likely reason your nvflash didn't work, is you extracted the files in the wrong place. make sure they are in the same place as the download.bat file.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using Tapatalk
I have all the nvflash files in the same folder as extracted from the .zip file. I even have Prime 1.6 in the folder.
All I seem to be able to do is press the power button and either Up-vol or down-vol (or both) and the computer disconnects and immediately reconnects. When I run the download.bat file, it seems to run and complete the formatting and then download something and the dos box disappears at that stage. The tablet is showing the following...

That is the only thing I can get to display - and, of course, it stays like this until I try to reboot again.
copy and paste what you get when you run the batch file into here...once it finishes
Pretty sure the tf should reboot on its own if done right.
Did you also check the md5sum of the downloaded files?
I followed these instructions..worked perfectly
http://tabletroms.com/forums/transf...ock-3-1-stock-3-2-recovery-roms.html#post9968
The Dos box disappears when it finishes so I can't paste it here and yes, I checked the files. In fact, I tried it on three different PCs (W7 64-bit, W7 32-bit and XP Pro 32-bit), all without success.
Have you plugged it straight to power and switch it on?
Yes - no difference.
I think you need nvflash experts help.
Only thing i can think of is the old adb way to transfer a blob file...
Or...
Open a command prompt and go to the directory with the batch file and then run it ..dont double click but just type it in the dos window.. once it finishes it shouldn't close the window and you can see what happens.
maybe try a different usb port, I have 4 ports on the front of my pc but for some reason only ONE port works when i try to nvflash, also have problems if I use a hub or extend the cable in any way

Ok, the second option got me a little bit of info. Bootloader.bin is installing but it is telling me that the file 'recovery.img' is not found.
you can prevent the dos window from closing by starting the command via command line.
start > run > cmd (enter)
dir c:\where\nvflash\is\located (enter)
download.bat (enter)
OK, it's official - I'm an idiot!
I had downloaded the nvflash version of Prime 1.6 but hadn't extracted the files! I now have a working version of Prime 1.6 and am restoring the data as I type.
Thanks for all your help, especially the suggestion of running download from a dos prompt, which let me see where I was going wrong.
Excellent!
Glad it's all sorted

[Q] Modem Driver?

So I was following along the instructions at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214 to root my phone. I was able to complete the install of Clockworkmod Recovery using NVFlash and boot into Clockworkmod Recovery. I mounted the phone and plugged into my computer. At this time, the LG Drivers I had previously downloaded started to install. All 8 or 9 of them installed, except for one titled LGE Android Platform USB Modem. I tried to resolve this issue, and look for additional help online, but I cannot seem to locate anything. I not actually sure if it's an issue or not.
However, when I moved along to step 6 of the root guide, when entering the ADB command prompts, I don't think it's doing what it is supposed to be doing. After I entered the any of the commands, it says, "'adb' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." At this point I stopped the process.
Any ideas?
The driver issue and the command issue for the root could be separate issues.
You have to CD to the folder/dir you have adb installed to from the cmd line. Example, if it is on the root of your c drive, like my sdk install is, you would type CD c:/Android sdk/adb
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Thanks for the idea. Unfortunately, that was not the issue. I believe I had the proper directory listed when entering commands.
Ok.. The driver and adb not starting are unrelated. You should be able to start adb even with out a device plugged in. It's either your install of adb or not being in the right dir to enter the command. I have problems starting adb alot of the time but it's usually "operator error" on my end.

[Q] Noob Root Walkthru

I am new to the ASUS family of tablets, and j just can't figure out how to root. I have rooted many tablets and installed custom roms before but the i cannot follow the how tos listed here. You need to run fastboot from the DOS Prompt
start run - cmd
then type fastboot command.
I take it you have unlocked your bootloader?
Check this thread, it has videos about rooting and whatnot, hope it helps:

....what fastboot folder? I installed the ADK per the instructions, I downloaded the root and recovery image. I looked in the system for a fastboot folder and do not see it. Plus when I try to type in the fastboot command now, it says it is not a recognized command. I am sure this is something simple, but I am just not getting it. Is there a more detailed step by step somewhere that will actually walk you thru the steps without assuming you know what they are talking about? I can root my phone, my galaxy tab all day long and install and change ROMS, but this one has me upside down.
When you installed android SDK and ran SDK manager to install the tools, it should create a "platform tools" folder. In that folder you should see "fastboot.exe." Put the recovery image into the same platform tools folder.
Make sure when you run the command that you are in the command prompt, and that you have navigated to the same platform tools folder. It should then recognize the fastboot command and flash your recovery.

That file should be in your platform tools folder as well. I think it's a driver issue. Is your tablet showing up in device manager? Does it have a yellow triangle? I'm not really an expert unfortunately, hopefully someone with more knowledge can jump in.

You should not move the folder. This can cause all kinds of problems. in the cmd prompt just type
cd \folder\folder\etc.
The cd means change directory and you start off with a backslash to set the initial path to the root of your drive. if folder names include spaces then wrap the path with quotes, cd "\folder one\folder two\etc". the prompt should change from C:\windows or whatever to what you typed in.
if you've installed on a drive other than C: then first change to that drive by typing the drive letter followed by a colon, ie D:

You can't take the sdcard out and put it to your pc, copy the rom from pc to sdcard then put it back to your device? or you could use adb to push the file and hope adb is working on your pc.

Try this,
Copy the rom.zip to the directory where your adb.exe is, then boot your device to twrp (home screen).
On your pc type
adb push rom.zip /Removable/MicroSD then hit enter (this copy the rom.zip from your pc to the root of your microsdcard.
If you see bunch of number and bytes and time then it's working.

EDIT: I must be doing something wrong. Where is the adb.exe location? I found one in the Asus Sync folder, is it that one? Second, where do I put this command? I know, in the command prompt, but which folder is it supposed to open?

You don't move the adb.exe, where ever the adb command located, you need to open command prompt and navigate to the adb.exe folder. Asus Sync is located in C:\Program Files\ASUS\ASUS Sync and so is the adb.exe. so open command prompt and type:
cd\ hit enter, this bring you to root Ccomputer displayed C:\>
type:
cd Program Files\ASUS\ASUS Sync hit enter, you're now in the Asus sync folder (this is where your rom.zip should be in also)
computer should displayed:
C:\Program Files\ASUS\ASUS Sync>
now type
adb push rom.zip /Removable/MicroSD then hit enter (this copy the rom.zip from your pc to the root of your microsdcard.

I'm not sure, i'll try it out right now. I guess if it doesn't work it could be a problem with adb, is there any tutorial on how to set it up?

Try this,
Copy the rom.zip to the directory where your adb.exe is, then boot your device to twrp (home screen).
On your pc type
adb push rom.zip /Removable/MicroSD then hit enter (this copy the rom.zip from your pc to the root of your microsdcard.
If you see bunch of number and bytes and time then it's working.

I thought that you already have adb working on your PC, but seems like you don't. You need to download Android SDK and once installed, you can use adb command from this SKD. Here is the link to how install Android SDK. It shouldn't take no more than 10 min. Just download and run the install, only select packages with the word "Android name" should be only 2. Once you done this, adb and fastboot should work fine. You also need Java, but like 99% ppl with a PC should already had Java installed.

This tool is very important in rooting, recovery, flash stuff to your device. So I recommend you install this and get it working, it will save you a lot of time and headache in the future.
EDIT; If you think you have all the components already installed, you could download the adb/fastboot package here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=1403567&d=1350299936 , unzip it to your C drive, you will have a folder called "Install recovery", in this folder there's adb and fastboot command, and then open cmd navigate to this folder and execute adb command line I provide previously see if that works.

All there is in here is a .cmd file, no adb or nothing, I tried to use the command line you provided me, but all I get is:
adb server is out of date. Killing...
*daemon started succesfully*
Protocol Failure
Edit: I also downloaded the Android SDK Manager and downloaded the two tools

If you go here http://forum.xda-developers.com/atta...7&d=1350299936 download the zip file then unzip to your drive. In this new folder you should see adb.exe and fastboot.exe and a few dll files. Do you see them??? Make sure your anti-virus doesn't strip the files.
