[Q] Beats Audio on Stock/Rooted? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to ask the question in the appropriate thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28015542&postcount=27
But that thread got LOCKED and a redirect was posted to a "general" thread for further discussion but that given thread doesn't seem to be "Device Specific" to the TF300T, thus I'm not inclined to post my question there.
Can anyone answer this as in if Beats Audio will work on stock-rooted us.30 (Not unlocked), and post the exact install method so I don't end up "bricking"?
Thanks.

It's a flashable zip, so you can't install it if you aren't unlocked.

I understand it couldn't be flashed, however, there was mention of the possibility to "extract" the .zip and manually overwrite system files but it was never confirmed so I am basically asking if this method would work... :fingers-crossed:

Don't know if manually placing files in root explorer works for sure but flashing the zip in .30 stock does work so I don't see why not

Works fine, all I did was put /system from the zip on my sdcard and used a root explorer to merge it with the real /system. Just looks like a glorified DSPManager without as many options and BEATS written all over it, but it works...

Curious, Did you back up any system files first? And did you have to change permissions on any of the copied files?

Another Question: From the post in development that was locked...
Added MUSICFX so settings work for CM9
Added Awesome Control Panel
Re-built Awesome BEATS

Just FLASH and enjoy!!
Make sure to change in SETTINGS/SOUND/MUSIC EFFECTS to AWESOME BEATS.

I don't have the "Settings/Sound/Music Effects" option
Nor do I see where to load or access DSP, MusicFX, or Awesome Control Panel, ect... anywhere?
I copied all the /system files from the zip to the root directory /system and rebooted.

Nope, just dropped them in, if you want back up any system files that get replaced (if there are any, I didn't check), but you can always just pull them from a stock ROM if necessary. For your other questions, I have no idea, all I saw was the Awesome BEATS app, I figured that was all it was. I'll look at it.
Edit: found the Music effects option, right under Sound in the settings. Switched from MusicFX to Awesome BEATS.

Thanks for the follow-up. I just now copied them again/rebooted as I didn't see any of the new files in /system... This time it worked! I have both the App and the mentioned Settings which I've also switched to Awesome BEATS.
Now to play a little and see how this works. I think it is designed to have best effect (sound quality improvement) using BT and/or headphones but I could be wrong.

Changing "Settings.apk"

Is it okay to replace the Settings.apk in /system/app with another while the phone is running? Using Root Browser? Will the phone freeze up after I remove the original Settings.apk?
Sent via Tapatalk with VictoryRom_v1.1
I doubt that your phone will "freeze up" or anything, just make a backup first or adb push+pull while in CWM...
However, It's unlikely that the Settings.apk will work on the A2. Where did you find that particular Settings.apk?
Its for the Bionic. Nitroglycerin33's ROM.

Nitro usually includes a lot of custom features that may not work correctly on our phone. It will probably work but just have some irregularities in it.
All I really want out of it is black backgrounds. Maybe I should learn how to edit the Settings.apk instead.

YES (Just as long as you have a good apk - and do not remove original - just overwrite).
I push system apps with root explorer all the time. Just make sure you copy it first to /system folder first and change the permissions (chmod 644). Then MOVE (do not copy) to the /system/app folder, select yes to overwrite - then i just head for home and hit reboot right away. Only time it didn't work for me was when i had a bad apk..
Otherwise you could edit it yourself - just copy the .png files from the apk you want and replace them in your current known working apk. Nothing too difficult if you're working only with image files - can probably be done with PeaZip or 7zip - i just use APK Manager. Just don't be editing .9.png's or .xmls without expecting to get into some trouble..
Last thing - i don't think the black backgrounds are located in the Settings.apk...(?) I'd check around the Blur(smthng).apks, res/drawable-hdpi folders.. and yea, make a backup and put on CWM on boot first, just in case..

Tap-to-Focus Camera [ICS]

Does anyone know of a way to install a version of the ICS camera into a rom which contains the tap-to-focus function? Hopefully there is a flashable zip that I haven't come across.
If its a matter of replacing files using Root Explorer, that's not a problem. However, if I have to use adb to do this, I would love instructions on how to do so.
Of course this will not be possible without the actual files/apk of the tap-to-focus feature.
Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.
Edit: Thanks to dr911 he was able to direct me in the right direction on how to enable this feature.

I don't know if all these files are really needed, but I took them from AOKP and dropped them into the system: system/app/Camera.apk, system/lib/libcamera_client.so, system/lib/libcameraservice.so, system/lib/hw/camera.herring.so. Someone posted it in a thread here on XDA, but I don't remember.

The files are contained within the AOKP rom for the Nexus S 4G as posted. You just download the rom and extract the files. Once you've extracted them, just place them in the same folders within your current rom.

Can you please post a link for the ROM ? for some reason I was confused on the tons of ROM in the dev section ... And do these files work with stock odexed 4.0.4 ROM ? and does thip tap to focus work flowlessly ?
I'm using the stock rom from the update pushed through by Sprint which I of course rooted, and everything is working perfectly fine.
The download link is contained within the development section. Its titled [ROM][AOSP][INFO] Android Open Kang Project - Crespo4g Build 30 [4-7-12].
It is on the first page in the development section.

Are you also able to activate the power button as shutter? The combo TTF and PowerShutter was why I chose AOKP as source ROM.
I think, some things have to be done with hardware buttons, such as camera shutter and music track skipping.
And by the way, are you able to use the video effects? I don't know if it is related to these files or the ROM I use, but they don't work here! I don't need those, so I don't care!
The power button does not work as a way to take photos. But as of right now, I'm very pleased with how this has turned out. I'm running the closest thing to stock with the tap-to-focus feature along with the Face to Unlock security feature which I found as a flashable zip on Android Forums I believe.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Did you activate that feature in camera settings? After that you have to restart the camera, else just your screen turns off.
EDIT1: So i just made a flashable zip from the files for anyone who isn't that familiar with Root Explorer or ADB. I hope it works, hadn't the time to test it, so better you make a backup before flashing (as always)
@The Batman: are you now able to use the power button as shutter?
EDIT2: New zip should also enable video effects on ICS ROMs that lack this function. Tested on I9023 with slimICS 3.3.
All credits to Team KANG and the people here on XDA, because I just took the files from AOKP that were mentioned in some posts here on XDA and put them into a flashable zip file (I also took the template for that from the forums, call me a pirate )
Yes, the power button now works. Users just have to make sure that they use the AOKP camera.apk and not the stock camera.Google.apk.

Depends on the ROM you are using and if that ROM contains the Google camera app or AOSP camera app.
But I think there is no advantage in having both side by side as the AOKP cam should have all features of the stock cam plus TTF and PS...
Has anyone tried this?

Do you have a custom recovery? If yes, place the file in the root of your SD-Card/USB-storage and flash it via recovery!
If you have a moment, I'll try the zip on my phone (forgot about it, sorry)!

Well IMO , the last thing you wanna do is putting an extra function for the power button ... It is so weak and valunrable to break just doing it job opening the screen lock ..
Just my 2 cents , but the TTF is a good feature to have no doubt

[APP] SGS3 Music Player + Beats Audio

Have come across a beautiful SGS3 Music Player ported for SGS2. It works fine in our device.
FULL CREDIT GOES TO THE BELOW ORIGINAL POST
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726776&highlight=ported
[CWM flashable zip for SGR is available in 3rd post below ].
Beats Audio
After flashing the latest beats audio libs (attached), the music quality in headset has certainly been improved. It doesn't add any Bass to the music but indeed it adds quality to the music.
[TESTED ONLY IN STOCK 4.0.4 DEODEXED]. I have no idea about other ROMs. Please keep the CWM backup ready .
Don't forget to Thank the developer in the original thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1525226
[Update]
For the music lovers who wants the right music player (besides Poweramp) that uses beats audio libraries here you go.
MIUI Player with Beats audio rocks. Unlike SGS3 ported player, MIUI has equalizers. Though it doesn't have predefined effects option to choose (that supports all the effects of beats) but still it rocks and it is the best player that uses beats audio as of now.
If I find any DSP manager modded with beats that really supports all the beats music effects and works fine with SGR, will keep you informed.
Please Hit THANKS if you like my work and it is totally free

Actually I wanted to add beats audio to the ROM.zip(jaggyROM 3.2.1) before flashing. I downloaded the beats audio zips from

R: [Q] Beats Audio.........
It's different to exract it and put on folders than flash zip directly.
Because there are some scripts that are launched by busybox and need permission on updater-script file

Yes exactly I was thinking so. Flashing sometimes edits the build.prop and set permissions as well. I copied the needed commands from the beats zip and added to the Rom script updater using es explorer but I think it made it unusable.
Now I got it simply using beats audio from play. Thanks to danceoff.

How to install beats audio on your phone
How to install beats audio on your phone:
1. Your phone must be rooted.
2. Go to the play store or google play or android market or whatever you call it.
3. Type in the search field ' beats audio'.
4. There will be an app called 'beats audio installer' which will be needing the permission of root to run.
5. Install it.
6. If you have no root, when you open the app, it will show a sad face and will display ' no root '.
7. If you have root, it will show a happy face and will display 'ready'.
8. And the app will show the rest of the instructions.
Result: you will notice some change in the sound of ur phone.

[SOUNDMOD][SurroundSound]

Do you want to turn your top front speaker on for music and notifications?
Please thank @langeveld024 for his great work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2902915
His thread has great descriptions of exactly what this mod does and all the different options.
****with the help of @toastido and @noellenchris they got everything working for the note 3****
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Download the zip and with a file explorer choose the file you wish to try *DO NOT FLASH*
2. Move your stock/current mixer_paths.xml from /system/etc to any location on your sd card.
3. Copy mixer_paths.xml to /system/etc and set correct permission rw-r-r a.k.a. 0644
Like this:
XX0
X00
X00
4. Reboot
5. Turn down your volume before using and increase slowly to test safely.
*I based the loud volume levels on the loud volume level mod from tweaked rom thanks @dwitherell*

This one works great for sound but not for the microphones. If anyone wants to test it or knows how to fix it take a look. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2902915

Your version works great, what one did you fix and can they easily be fixed and posted here with everyone's permission of course?

The loud separated one. I would prefer it be full Volume and then controlled by the volume rockers.
As for the rest of them, I dunno. Don't have time to edit them all to check differences, but if the op in the original thread wants to then by all means.

Here is the Normal Combined one for the Note3, I did beyond compare and moved over only the speaker items. I tested on my Note 3 and it seems to work fine. Feel free to test if you want.

Oh NO....... Don't flash this. The file is just zipped. Unzip the file, and move to a temp folder on phone. You will need a root file browser like ES Explorer or Root explorer. Find your original file in the Root folder /etc/mixer_paths.xml and copy that over to a safe place as a backup. Then copy the modded file to the same folder above and then change the permissions so that they are the same as the other files in the folder. After all that, reboot and it will work.
I could create a flashable file, but I would hate to see someone not backup the original file and not be able to go back to original. So this process above is not that hard and kinda reminds you to make a backup of the xml file first. Good luck.

Read the OP. This is not something you flash.
Works but distorts the speaker even in the normal version.
Thanks for the effort..

I don't have any issue with distortion on my Note 3 with my version in use. Not sure what would be causing that, except maybe a bum speaker.
Speaker is fine.
Could be the tune I was playing though.
I'll give it another go.
How can I make it work on n900 exynos, because mine doesn't have mixer_path.xml?
Anyway to get this working in the lollipop roms?

Edit: nevermind i read the other thread.
