Does anyone know of a way to install a version of the ICS camera into a rom which contains the tap-to-focus function? Hopefully there is a flashable zip that I haven't come across.
If its a matter of replacing files using Root Explorer, that's not a problem. However, if I have to use adb to do this, I would love instructions on how to do so.
Of course this will not be possible without the actual files/apk of the tap-to-focus feature.
Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.
Edit: Thanks to dr911 he was able to direct me in the right direction on how to enable this feature.

I don't know if all these files are really needed, but I took them from AOKP and dropped them into the system: system/app/Camera.apk, system/lib/libcamera_client.so, system/lib/libcameraservice.so, system/lib/hw/camera.herring.so. Someone posted it in a thread here on XDA, but I don't remember.
Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate the help!

So now what , how and where the files are ???
It's like saying I know a good resturant , I forgot its name and I don't know where is it
The files are contained within the AOKP rom for the Nexus S 4G as posted. You just download the rom and extract the files. Once you've extracted them, just place them in the same folders within your current rom.

My reply to the OP implied all things mentioned there as given knowledge! And The Batman seems to understand.

I see now .. my bad sorry
Can you please post a link for the ROM ? for some reason I was confused on the tons of ROM in the dev section ... And do these files work with stock odexed 4.0.4 ROM ? and does thip tap to focus work flowlessly ?
I'm using the stock rom from the update pushed through by Sprint which I of course rooted, and everything is working perfectly fine.
The download link is contained within the development section. Its titled [ROM][AOSP][INFO] Android Open Kang Project - Crespo4g Build 30 [4-7-12].
It is on the first page in the development section.

Are you also able to activate the power button as shutter? The combo TTF and PowerShutter was why I chose AOKP as source ROM.
I think, some things have to be done with hardware buttons, such as camera shutter and music track skipping.
And by the way, are you able to use the video effects? I don't know if it is related to these files or the ROM I use, but they don't work here! I don't need those, so I don't care!
The power button does not work as a way to take photos. But as of right now, I'm very pleased with how this has turned out. I'm running the closest thing to stock with the tap-to-focus feature along with the Face to Unlock security feature which I found as a flashable zip on Android Forums I believe.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Did you activate that feature in camera settings? After that you have to restart the camera, else just your screen turns off.
EDIT1: So i just made a flashable zip from the files for anyone who isn't that familiar with Root Explorer or ADB. I hope it works, hadn't the time to test it, so better you make a backup before flashing (as always)
@The Batman: are you now able to use the power button as shutter?
EDIT2: New zip should also enable video effects on ICS ROMs that lack this function. Tested on I9023 with slimICS 3.3.
All credits to Team KANG and the people here on XDA, because I just took the files from AOKP that were mentioned in some posts here on XDA and put them into a flashable zip file (I also took the template for that from the forums, call me a pirate )
Yes, the power button now works. Users just have to make sure that they use the AOKP camera.apk and not the stock camera.Google.apk.

There is actually a tap to focus function. So try flashing CM9 if you want to give it a go.

Sorry to say that, but do you even read the threads you reply to??? I've looked through your last posts and in two of them you recommend flashing CM9 V6 where no one asks for flashing a new rom. These threads are not even two pages long...
Here someone asked for a way to integrate TTF-cam into the stock ROM, in the other thread someone asked for a recovery and you also recommend to flash CM9!?

Yes. Or you can delete the camera.Google.apk and still have the camera from the AOKP rom which would then allow you to use the power button to snap pictures.

Depends on the ROM you are using and if that ROM contains the Google camera app or AOSP camera app.
But I think there is no advantage in having both side by side as the AOKP cam should have all features of the stock cam plus TTF and PS...
Has anyone tried this?

Do you have a custom recovery? If yes, place the file in the root of your SD-Card/USB-storage and flash it via recovery!
If you have a moment, I'll try the zip on my phone (forgot about it, sorry)!
EDIT: The zip flashed without errors in ClockWorkMod Recovery, so it should also work for others!

Well IMO , the last thing you wanna do is putting an extra function for the power button ... It is so weak and valunrable to break just doing it job opening the screen lock ..
Just my 2 cents , but the TTF is a good feature to have no doubt

Copy the 2 .apks to system/app and change permissions, copy the 4 .lib files to system/lib and change permissions accordingly. I know there is a flashable zip from armygunner as well, but that would not install for me. This will allow those having issues to get some touchwiz love. Since we can't upload .so files you will have to extract the lib files then copy them to system/lib and change permissions.
Here is the instructions to get the Verizon data traffic icons. This was originally created for AOKP, and I am using it on CM10. This should work for ALL ROMS. Thanks to detonator from Rootzwiki and atticus182.
Step 1: Download zipthemer from the play store.
Step 2: Download the attached DataTrafficMod-ZT-LTE-H.zip file and save to the download folder on your internal SD.
ZipThemer Instructions:
.•If this is the first time using ZipThemer, hit the (hidden) menu key -> Hit "Update Edify" -> Hit "Browse" (pick a file that you have flashed before on your phone, like your ROM or a theme) -> Hit "Configure" -> Then hit the 'back' softkey to return to the main screen.(i used a modem .zip file personally)
•Click the "+Theme" button, browse to the download folder and select the DataTrafficMod-ZT-LTE-H.zip file.
•Click the "Build It!" button, and when it prompts if you want to make an "undo-zip", click "Always"
•You will now see the output screen with the Build Log, check if everything went alright, it will show that a zip file has been created on /sdcard/
•Reboot your phone to Recovery, then flash the .zip file that is created on /sdcard. It most likely will not be in downloads, mine went right to Internal SD/
•Done! If you experience problems or want to undo the action just flash the "undo-zip" that's also located on /sdcard.
Enjoy!

Well really the only Touchwiz thing I'd want would be the camera. I know it relies on the overall Touchwiz framework and I also know Seanscreamz may have mentioned the camera being a pita on his CM10 hybrid.

might be worth a shot to back up your ROM and just install the framework.apk file from the OP and the camera.apk from Twiz. If that doesnt work you can try adding the lib files one at a time. As long as you dont install the sec.apk file from the OP you shouldnt have full Twiz. Although Im not sure why you wouldnt want it, I finally made the jump and I love it, lots of great features and very stable for me.

Yeah I've had issues like that with the stock panorama as well. Maybe adjust the speed and method of rotation having your body act as a tripod. Also try the gmscore. apk in the second post for viewing the photosphere, it will open it in a nice viewer.

okay, just flashed the v4 zip from the thread in first post!
panoram viewer works now. gotta test if it stiches better now ^^
well..... No!
still stiches horrible! a 5year old child could do better!
and for the normal Panorama... do NOT shake! you're supposed to keep the camera totally calm and stable. or else you can't take a useable panorama picture!
in that case it would be way more usefull to let the user shot themselve and not autoshot!
hmm, I'm not having many issues with the photosphere stitching, it seems to work pretty nice for me. Even at night at a concert I was able to make a nice picture of the area.
It is probably a sensor issue from like an accelerometer or something, not getting the right readings of angles and what not to match everything up right. I'm sure it won't be too long before it is set right for tablet use, the different size and shape would change the math a bit I'd imagine. Maybe we can get the version from the nexus 10 and see if that works better with the note 10.1

There is still one more thing needed to get the photosphere running right, gmscore.apk and that can be found at the source but takes some time so here is a link to it in my drop box, along with the zip with the carmera for the apk, move it to your system/app reboot into recovery to fix permissionss and then after you take a photosphere pic, hit the icon at the bottom to get to the viewer, it's pretty cool.

You don't need to worry about modding that anymore with the zip on the second post. But it is the file that holds the properties of your device, kind of like a config file or something of that nature. Others can go into more detail, or you can open yours up and look at what's inside.

Nice. I'd completed this mod myself when I got my s4 shortly after release, but never got around to testing it (did the same thing for my s2 back in the day). Got distracted trying to turn it into a vrtheme to make it compatible with 'all' version of camera (this way it replaces the resource files in apk and keeps that current version of camera installed). It's still just sitting in a couple of folders somewhere on my server....
(However, I think apk version means you should be able to push with adb without requiring root??)

Couple of options...flash your rom again (extreme!) or just replace the modded apk with original apk. Some roms include updated camera software (not sure if there has been an update, but you never know) so best to get apk from the same rom version you are currently running
Also, need to make sure rom is deodexed (you could try deleting the associated odex file and see if crash stops)

(However, I think apk version means you should be able to push with adb without requiring root??)

Maybe it could be possible... I have never used adb... But it should be possible yes
How would one make it for all versions? I am quite new to this... I would also like to port stuff.. But I am not that good yet

Unfortunately I screwed up and my backup of my stock aPk was unsuccessful
Can someone please give me the stock aPk for the camera or tell me how I'd go about fixing my camera app

Which rom do you use?
I have only having it confirmed on ME2 deodexed.. That's why I need people to try so I know
Why was your backup unsuccessful?
Btw. If you get your backup or an apk working... You can send me that file and I can mod it for you and see if that works

updated the original post... that it is only working on deodexed roms.. please let me know if it works on others
Works with no problems on my part

I use Tasker to set the phone to vibrate or silent mode when the camera app is active. Works like a charm, and I don't have to mess with custom software. I wouldn't even have to be rooted, if I weren't already.

we all know that... it has been said before... this is just so you dont need to do anything afterwards
i got pissed by turning the volume off and on constantly... thats why i did this.. and i could have used a profile.. but i thought this was a permanent fix for use in other roms and such but thanks.

(this works in my head...) You use a vrtheme (flashable zip) that replaces the ogg files (resources) in the apk with silent ogg files (vrtheme usually replaces the image resources so that you can change the look of apps such as what you see HERE)

oh... i did it manually by decompiling.. well... i cant see why it would make it compatible with other roms..
an example.
i hate the clock and alarm app in samsung.. but love the sony one... i cant install it on my samsung... so i need to port it.. but the thing you said there.. would not do the trick... there must be something else, an identifier of the phone or something.

Does this contain Photosphere as well?
No I think thats in the Focal camera from CM
Thank you!
Also is there any particular way to install this or just install the apk? Does anything need to be uninstalled prior to using the camera

Yeah, since Focal needs more time to get fixed is there any way to get Photosphere working on this camera?

Sorry I should have added the Installation instructions to the OP in the first place. OP Updated.
Just push to system/app, change permissions and reboot.
Ok, dumb question but here goes. Can I go into recovery an change permissions on system an then do the sideload option an install the camera apk that way?

No after adding the file to system/app long press it and choose permission. Make the permissions match all the other apps in that folder. Rw-r-r

This might be a really stupid question, but how do we know if it worked? My app info reads 1.1.40001
Problem might be because I have also installed the moto x camera too...I have multiple "gallery" apps.
Sorry for the stupid question, I promise I was/am capable to copy the file to system/app and fix permissions if that counts for anything D:

If it worked u would have new options in camera settings and the gallery is different.
800+ views and only 1 Thanks... Yikes

Just tried this on masta's 11/27 4.4 build and it seems to be working perfectly far as I can tell. Has a lot more options than the 4.4 cams as of right now. Thanks man!
