No need for this anymore. the new firmwares have the setting of disabling all sounds in the settings of the camera.
Try at own risk
Hi all.
this is my second creation / mod for removing the in app sounds of the camera. READ ON TO REMOVE ALL SOUNDS.
this is the stock camera app, without focus sound as i have muted those.... i have tested on my own (i have removed the shutter sound prior to this mod... so if that one is there, then change/delete the files as shown here:
how to remove shutter sound and other sounds not "in app"
Tested and working on ME2 deodexed... please tell me if it works on other firmwares
also working on MEA.
Not working on:
non deodexed roms - use at own risk.. tell me how it goes if you try...
installation guide:
open a file explorer and mount it as system writeable.
go to system/app and make a backup of SamsungCamera2.apk (just in case)
copy my SamsungCamera2.apk file to system/app
reboot and enjoy
Download here:
Download OLD versions
MEA Version
tell me how it works and if there are any errors i can only say that it works on mine so far
thank me if you like this mod
Changelog:
initial release:

known bugs:
let me know.
Anyone tried it yet?

Yeap, I'm on Omega 3.0 right now. The first thing I do with every rom is to delete the camera sounds.

good enough.... tell me if there are any problems... i have been using it for one day now and it is bugfree here... i do not use the panorama and stuff... but there were more sounds present than only the focus and focus error... i have muted them all so should be perfect.
Also on Omega 3.0 and working fine so far! :good:

Nice. I'd completed this mod myself when I got my s4 shortly after release, but never got around to testing it (did the same thing for my s2 back in the day). Got distracted trying to turn it into a vrtheme to make it compatible with 'all' version of camera (this way it replaces the resource files in apk and keeps that current version of camera installed). It's still just sitting in a couple of folders somewhere on my server....
(However, I think apk version means you should be able to push with adb without requiring root??)
I'm on a bell i9505 and it crashes on me after 3 seconds of use
Unfortunately I screwed up and my backup of my stock aPk was unsuccessful
Can someone please give me the stock aPk for the camera or tell me how I'd go about fixing my camera app

Couple of options...flash your rom again (extreme!) or just replace the modded apk with original apk. Some roms include updated camera software (not sure if there has been an update, but you never know) so best to get apk from the same rom version you are currently running
Also, need to make sure rom is deodexed (you could try deleting the associated odex file and see if crash stops)

(this works in my head...) You use a vrtheme (flashable zip) that replaces the ogg files (resources) in the apk with silent ogg files (vrtheme usually replaces the image resources so that you can change the look of apps such as what you see HERE)

oh... i did it manually by decompiling.. well... i cant see why it would make it compatible with other roms..
an example.
i hate the clock and alarm app in samsung.. but love the sony one... i cant install it on my samsung... so i need to port it.. but the thing you said there.. would not do the trick... there must be something else, an identifier of the phone or something.

Does anyone know of a way to install a version of the ICS camera into a rom which contains the tap-to-focus function? Hopefully there is a flashable zip that I haven't come across.
If its a matter of replacing files using Root Explorer, that's not a problem. However, if I have to use adb to do this, I would love instructions on how to do so.
Of course this will not be possible without the actual files/apk of the tap-to-focus feature.
Thanks in advance to anyone with answers.
Edit: Thanks to dr911 he was able to direct me in the right direction on how to enable this feature.

I don't know if all these files are really needed, but I took them from AOKP and dropped them into the system: system/app/Camera.apk, system/lib/libcamera_client.so, system/lib/libcameraservice.so, system/lib/hw/camera.herring.so. Someone posted it in a thread here on XDA, but I don't remember.
Thanks for the quick response. I appreciate the help!

The files are contained within the AOKP rom for the Nexus S 4G as posted. You just download the rom and extract the files. Once you've extracted them, just place them in the same folders within your current rom.

Can you please post a link for the ROM ? for some reason I was confused on the tons of ROM in the dev section ... And do these files work with stock odexed 4.0.4 ROM ? and does thip tap to focus work flowlessly ?
I'm using the stock rom from the update pushed through by Sprint which I of course rooted, and everything is working perfectly fine.
The download link is contained within the development section. Its titled [ROM][AOSP][INFO] Android Open Kang Project - Crespo4g Build 30 [4-7-12].
It is on the first page in the development section.

Are you also able to activate the power button as shutter? The combo TTF and PowerShutter was why I chose AOKP as source ROM.
I think, some things have to be done with hardware buttons, such as camera shutter and music track skipping.
And by the way, are you able to use the video effects? I don't know if it is related to these files or the ROM I use, but they don't work here! I don't need those, so I don't care!
The power button does not work as a way to take photos. But as of right now, I'm very pleased with how this has turned out. I'm running the closest thing to stock with the tap-to-focus feature along with the Face to Unlock security feature which I found as a flashable zip on Android Forums I believe.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Did you activate that feature in camera settings? After that you have to restart the camera, else just your screen turns off.
EDIT1: So i just made a flashable zip from the files for anyone who isn't that familiar with Root Explorer or ADB. I hope it works, hadn't the time to test it, so better you make a backup before flashing (as always)
@The Batman: are you now able to use the power button as shutter?
EDIT2: New zip should also enable video effects on ICS ROMs that lack this function. Tested on I9023 with slimICS 3.3.
All credits to Team KANG and the people here on XDA, because I just took the files from AOKP that were mentioned in some posts here on XDA and put them into a flashable zip file (I also took the template for that from the forums, call me a pirate )
Yes, the power button now works. Users just have to make sure that they use the AOKP camera.apk and not the stock camera.Google.apk.

Here someone asked for a way to integrate TTF-cam into the stock ROM, in the other thread someone asked for a recovery and you also recommend to flash CM9!?

Yes. Or you can delete the camera.Google.apk and still have the camera from the AOKP rom which would then allow you to use the power button to snap pictures.

Depends on the ROM you are using and if that ROM contains the Google camera app or AOSP camera app.
But I think there is no advantage in having both side by side as the AOKP cam should have all features of the stock cam plus TTF and PS...
Has anyone tried this?

Do you have a custom recovery? If yes, place the file in the root of your SD-Card/USB-storage and flash it via recovery!
If you have a moment, I'll try the zip on my phone (forgot about it, sorry)!

Well IMO , the last thing you wanna do is putting an extra function for the power button ... It is so weak and valunrable to break just doing it job opening the screen lock ..
Just my 2 cents , but the TTF is a good feature to have no doubt
After rooting my S3, I got a little over zealous uninstalling all the bloatware. As such, I mistakenly deleted the alarm clock (ya know, the one that works with S Voice). Does anyone have the apk for the stock touchwiz alarm clock? The only downloads I can find are modded versions ported for other phones.
Thanks in advance.
You should be able to download a stock rom and search the zip. Normally they are located in the \system\app directory. Make sure you match permissions with other system apps.

Hi there, this is how i fixed my alarm problem
firstly download the clock apk relavent to your phone, i think that there are 3 different ones provided in this thread.
Secondly you need to download something from the play store called "Rom toolbox pro" its £3 but if you ask in the forums here someone can probably point you to a free one that does the same thing.
make sure your phone is rooted, install and run Rom toolbox pro. click on Root Browser, navigate to where you put the APK on your phone, copy and move it to root/system/app. Once you have moved the apk find it in the app folder, click and hold it for a couple of seconds. A menu should popup with options, click on "permissions" set them so they are like this. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2pphiyo&s=6 If you are using a different app you will need to set your permissions accordingly, yet again im sure there is someone on here clever enough to help with that.
Now just restart your phone, the APK will run on boot.
These are the exact steps i followed and they worked for me. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2h353dl&s=6
I hope you have the same luck
Steve
I liked the Windy Weather live wallpaper that came with the GSIII, but I didn't like the ever so noticeable watermark that is on it. I've also seen requests for versions without the watermark so, I took it out back and beat it senseless until it was gone. See the screenshots below for a preview. (I will add more screenshots later)
READ BEFORE INSTALLING
- I recommend making a back-up of the original WeatherWall.apk at /system/app BEFORE installing this.
- This only removes the AccuWeather watermark. The name of your current city will still be visible.
- This live wallpaper was pulled from a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. Although it should, I have not tested if this will work on other versions of the Galaxy S III. I don't think it will work on other phones (because of screen size issues), but it may!
- You must have root in order to install this.
- Install at YOUR OWN risk. While highly unlikely, I take no responsibility if this damages your phone in any way.
Installation:
Manually:
1. Download the WeatherWall.apk provided and put it on your SD card
2. Open up your favorite file manager application on your phone that has system read and write capability. I prefer Root Explorer
3. Navigate to wherever you placed the downloaded .apk and move it to "system/app" overwriting the unmodified "WeatherWall.apk"
4. Restart your phone and enjoy!
NEW! Flashable: (Easier!)
1. Download the WindyWeather-NoWM.zip provided and put it on your SD card
2. Re/boot to recovery and flash the .zip file
3. Restart your phone and enjoy!
:good:

Hmmm... Also make sure when you're overwriting the old one that it sticks. You can do this by looking at the date last modified in your file manager. If it says anything but the current date and time then it did not overwrite it. If that's the case make sure your file manager has SU and root privileges and it is mounted in read and write mode. Once I get a flash working this should be much easier, but it does nothing but fail in TWRP when I try to flash the one I have put together.
ok thanks for working on it....but see thats the prob...there wasn't one there originally. maybe the rom i am on had it removed...but either way it should show up after moving it to that folder under live wallpapers right?
The key is to make sure that WeatherWall.apk is your /system/app directory. Normally you should be overwriting an old .apk. Like you said though maybe you're rom doesn't use it so may not work. As far as I know it 100% works with Touchwiz on ICS. Someone said it did work with an AOSP based rom, but I'm not sure if this was ICS or JB.

Yeah I've had issues like that with the stock panorama as well. Maybe adjust the speed and method of rotation having your body act as a tripod. Also try the gmscore. apk in the second post for viewing the photosphere, it will open it in a nice viewer.

okay, just flashed the v4 zip from the thread in first post!
panoram viewer works now. gotta test if it stiches better now ^^
well..... No!
still stiches horrible! a 5year old child could do better!
and for the normal Panorama... do NOT shake! you're supposed to keep the camera totally calm and stable. or else you can't take a useable panorama picture!
in that case it would be way more usefull to let the user shot themselve and not autoshot!
hmm, I'm not having many issues with the photosphere stitching, it seems to work pretty nice for me. Even at night at a concert I was able to make a nice picture of the area.
It is probably a sensor issue from like an accelerometer or something, not getting the right readings of angles and what not to match everything up right. I'm sure it won't be too long before it is set right for tablet use, the different size and shape would change the math a bit I'd imagine. Maybe we can get the version from the nexus 10 and see if that works better with the note 10.1

There is still one more thing needed to get the photosphere running right, gmscore.apk and that can be found at the source but takes some time so here is a link to it in my drop box, along with the zip with the carmera for the apk, move it to your system/app reboot into recovery to fix permissionss and then after you take a photosphere pic, hit the icon at the bottom to get to the viewer, it's pretty cool.

I changed my model from gt-8013 to Galaxy Nexus, but when I try to use the sphere it says my model Galaxy Nessus (Samsung) isn't supported yet.

That's odd, double check that your build. prop saved right, what did you use to edit it and what ROM are you on?
I use ROM tool box pro and it does everything
Just found out that s notes doesn't work with the changed build. prop

You have to use the ' 4.2 camera_t04. zip and change your build-prop back to normal

You don't need to worry about modding that anymore with the zip on the second post. But it is the file that holds the properties of your device, kind of like a config file or something of that nature. Others can go into more detail, or you can open yours up and look at what's inside.
It is in the /system folder
It worked well on my tab, and now i have 2 camera apps and two galleries (samsung stock and google)...i'm on 4.1.1 modded official rom by dr. Akrim.

Install JB 4.2 camera and gallery apps on your Gingerbread/ICS rom. This port of Camera app will only work on the advanced Gingerbread 2.3 firmwares and on all the devices which are rooted on ICS 4.0+ firmwares. Download root checker to check if your mobile is rooted. The flashable zip is attached below.
Instructions-
1. Flash the zip via recovery
2. Fix permissions (Incase the gallery gets force closed).
Bugs-
Photosphere not yet working.

Confused.
The 4.2 Can/Gallery has always worked on ICS. Its been buggy but its always worked. Currently we have working Photosphere with certain flashable zips.
So my question is, what separated this mod from all the others? Is it a true port? If so ..why is photosphere not working? Current 4.2 cam/gallery I use has working photosphere but has other bugs. So I'm just confused about what this file you posted is?
EDIT:
Checked your zip. Seems your missing the Gmscore.apk that makes the photosphere work. Also missing a lib file that other versions have.

Hi, I just shared the information regarding this port. I did not develop it. I have been using this camera app for 2 days now and it is bug free. Except for the photosphere every other feature is intact i guess. Could you attach your version with the working photosphere here. I want to check it out.

I could upload it however, there are multiple versions posted. Look in Themes and Apps for the 4.2 Transformation Pack...or check out the dev section for the latest v2.3 of it where its been editted to have higher quality pics. Check these zips, you'll find the GmsCore.apk which allows photosphere to work. Talk to the other devs if you're interested in helping.

Yup sure. I will take a look at it. Thanks
This zip file is missing two essential files, "libjni_filtershow_filters.so" which is required to edit photos. And the gsmcore.apk. This work the same as the regular 4.2 camera patch, but doesn't work on my Gingerbread device though.
Just use the patch made by Garner:

Hi i like this to have on my Arc but i'm having FC,i tried fixing promissions using root explorer but the permissions are rw--r--r that's how it has to be???
This message i'm getting:
"Sorry
the application Gallery (process com.google.android.gallery3d)
has stopped unexpectedly.
Please try again."
how to fix that?Tnx
EDIT:
Tried copying files on app and lib folder and changing permissions and then rebooted the device, but didn't work, the same think like above "sorry....bla bla bla..."
I would like at least to get working gallery,i like gallery app it's very fast.
BTW I'm using Xperia Arc stock gingerbread, doomkernel v22,and some modes.
i've been doing alot of searching, flashed alot of versions of this camera all with errors & fc's,so i decided to download nearly all of them, mix & match & find the right files, combine a few things, added some extra files & i ended up with a fully working camera & gallery, flash it in recovery, then whilst still in recovery, choose fix permissions/mismatches,then reboot, you'll still have your old camera & gallery, but if your happy with the camera, the new camera works better if u delete your old camera & gallery app,not sure why but it does,i also changed my product version to Galaxy Nexus and product brand to google, appologies to the OP,not trying to offend u or do 1 better, just p'd off with how many attempts i've done to get this working so would like to share for others to try
