Beats Audio
After flashing the latest beats audio libs (attached), the music quality in headset has certainly been improved. It doesn't add any Bass to the music but indeed it adds quality to the music.
[TESTED ONLY IN STOCK 4.0.4 DEODEXED]. I have no idea about other ROMs. Please keep the CWM backup ready .

For the music lovers who wants the right music player (besides Poweramp) that uses beats audio libraries here you go.
MIUI Player with Beats audio rocks. Unlike SGS3 ported player, MIUI has equalizers. Though it doesn't have predefined effects option to choose (that supports all the effects of beats) but still it rocks and it is the best player that uses beats audio as of now.
If I find any DSP manager modded with beats that really supports all the beats music effects and works fine with SGR, will keep you informed.

ported of the zip file using cwm but it didnt installed anything...

Can you check if the below files exists and their permissions as well.
Inside /system/app folder - MusicPlayer.apk
/system/lib - libmusicsquarelib.so
The permissions should be rw-r--r--

the music player app file is in there but the file in the lib folder is not present..:crying:

Cwm zip seems to be perfectly fine. I removed the files manually and then flashed the zip file. Got the files back and everything working fine.
Can you check the free space of system lib folder.
If you have experience in moving files to system folder you can extract the zip file and manually move the files inside system folder.

You mean to say only .apk file is ti be installed ?? no CWM flash ??
well i downloaded this and flashed it thru cwm..now the problem is the phone boots up to homescreen and after say some 10sec, it just freezes up...and only thing i could do is restart....
also i noted that app is installed...
rite now restoring back the cwm backup..
any else facing the problem..

Download root explorer from play store there u will find both the file system as well as lib

try music Equalizer app for the same. its amazing.:angel:

Do this, go to system/app and press on soundenhancement.apk and istall it... press ok if it asks to replace old app... then reboot.. after rebooting go to settings-apps-all-sound enhancements and clean data, tell me if it works or not

I copied everything, gived premisions, installed, and even cleared all data, and still FC
EDIT: But I first gave premisions and than installed those two files, is that problem?

Working like a charm now..for those who still cant figure out how to make it work:
1.install the walman ported for xperia tipo fallowing the steps mentioned in the other thread.
2.push audio_effects file and the 11 lib files in the paths mentioned in this thread.
3. push musicfx.odex and musicfx.apk and sounenhancements.apk in system/app.
4.instal soundenhancements.apk and reboot.
5. after booting up goto apps>all>soundenhancements and clear its data.
6.Sweet!

Ok, then copy soundenhancement.apk again to system/app, then install it, reboot, and then clear data of sound enhancement, then go to settings-sound-music effect, fc error msg comes, press ok, thenselect sound enhancement..
Finally it worked!

Well I think it's ok to create new topic. I searched around but couldn't.
Actually I wanted to add beats audio to the ROM.zip(jaggyROM 3.2.1) before flashing. I downloaded the beats audio zips from

I simply extracted the data from the zips to ROM in their appropriate directories. Eg libs in libs, apps in apps etc in etc.
(No harm to the zip. Just drag and drop)
Well I went to recovery, flashed zip, fixed permissions.
It boots now but music.apk force closes.
Please help where am I wrong?
Please let me how can I add beats audio to jaggy 3.2.1?
Well I don't want to flash it separately.
(I know jaggy 4.1 has beats audio but I want to add it to 3.2.1)

I flashed that (selected "stock" in aroma) and music.apk force closes.
By the way I was asking about adding beats before flashing the ROM. I think it needs some build.prop, script updater work.
Will someone give me some guidelines?

Yes exactly I was thinking so. Flashing sometimes edits the build.prop and set permissions as well. I copied the needed commands from the beats zip and added to the Rom script updater using es explorer but I think it made it unusable.
Now I got it simply using beats audio from play. Thanks to danceoff.

How to install beats audio on your phone
How to install beats audio on your phone:
1. Your phone must be rooted.
2. Go to the play store or google play or android market or whatever you call it.
3. Type in the search field ' beats audio'.
4. There will be an app called 'beats audio installer' which will be needing the permission of root to run.
5. Install it.
6. If you have no root, when you open the app, it will show a sad face and will display ' no root '.
7. If you have root, it will show a happy face and will display 'ready'.
8. And the app will show the rest of the instructions.
Result: you will notice some change in the sound of ur phone.

Extract the zip and put them to their right places... Just follow the folder locations
Set Permissions for files to rw-r--r-- and for the folder, rwxr-xr-x
Delete all files from /system/lib/soundfx before replacing them with the dolby ones... Also delete dspmanager.apk at /system/app
And add this at the end of build.prop at /system
ro.config.hw_dolby=true
After installing the mod, reboot to recovery and clear cache and dalvik cache...
After that, reboot and enjoy the new sound changes
Tested on CM10.2, works great! Should work fine too on ICS and other JB roms too...

Edit: this works with latest weekly (cm 10.2 weekly 4.1)...
update: fixed issues with not deleting stuffs properly!... (and it works with latest weekly i.e 5 & flashed using TWRP v2.6.3.0)

may be yes!! but if you wanna use the flasher zip you must change the directories accordingly!
Creates problems with proximity sensors in ICS. It's confirmed!
doesnt works in JB 4.1(TRIUMP V3)...sound totally gone after flashig this

to the dudes having problems and new update!!!
To the dudes who are having problems on this audio mod, make sure you delete all files inside /system/lib/soundfx before replacing them, and delete dspmanager.apk at /system/app, that conflicts dolby mod...
Also download the latest zip now, updated my post... added the apk I forgot (didnt noticed it lol) and deleted unecessary conf file at zip... again, not a flashable zip. Sorry guys, my laptop is dead
Put the files and folders on their right places
All files permission must be rw-r--r-- and for the data folder that you'll put at /system, set permission to rwxr-xr-x
Tested on latest CM10.2 weekly, works fine...

No it wont. Same a MusicFX.apk, it will only run at the background to make the dolby service to work...

yup! i installed Beats and then this mod in cm10.2 and the rom didnt boot
HI ALL
I HAVE INSTALLED DARK NEXUS ROM FROM DARK4DROID, MUST SAY THE BEST ROM , SOMEHOW I FOUND THAT THE EQUILIZER EFFECTS LIVE "REVERB" WERE NOT WORKING.
SO I SWAPPED SOME FILES FROM 4.1 ROM AND GOT IT WORKING, SHARING SO IT MAY HELP OTHER USERS TO ENJOY MUSIC :highfive:
DELETE THE DSP EQUILIZER FROM SYSTEM/APP , EXTRACT FILES FROM FOLDER ATTACHED AND MOVE THEM TO SYSTEM/LIB/SOUNDFX FOLDER . GIVE PERMISSIONS rw -r -r AND REBOOT , ENJOY MUSIC AND USE DEFAULT MUSIC FX APP

Sorry for late reply but soundfx is not flashable . u need to set permission manually. The other patch provided is CWM flashable and it will fix sound of audio player + fm.

While i was fiddling with some apps through Titanium backup i deliberately wiped stock music player app. I do have a backup(done via Titanium Backup) of the same but i cannot restore it the way i backed it up. Can someone please help me to get the apk file of Samsung Stock music player app... ?
And also the method through which i can install or restore it in working condition ? Any help will be appreciated.
I really liked the sound customizations of stock music player app which is even greater in stock Samsung JB music player app. Someone help me get either ICS or JB Samsung stock music player app which should be compatible with my Galaxy R.
I'm on Stock ICS (I9103ZSLQ3) with ardatdat kernel v4.2 b6

Delete odex file of music player app if exists.
Flash it in recovery. If it doesnt get installed then extract the apk file and install it like normal apk or push it to system/app/ and set permissions.

P.S - My phone is rooted.
Actually i'm not following xda from last few months and hence lots of mess... i need to catch-up these things again. Thanks again.

EDIT : After a bit of googling i figured out how to push it in system/app. Now pls tell me what permission to set on this particular one ?

Use any root explorer (say solid explorer)
Go to root folder -> system -> app
there you will find MusicPlayer.odex file. delete it.

You just need to copy and paste the apk file from your sdcard to system/app folder.
here is about how you set permissions
In this case you need to set permissions as 0644 (-rw-r--r--)
P.S. Flashing the zip file i attached will do everything. Manual procedure is just incase if it doesnt work.
I flashed it through CWM although it plays the song but none of the sound effects are working... and the player itself keep crashing once in a while.
Are you also using the same version of that ? Is this compatible with our SGR?

Yes I am using the same. For me it crashes only when i press 'End' button in options. Else it works flawlessly. For you It is crashing oftenly may be because you didnt delete odex file! Equilizer doesnt works, it is a known bug. Visit this thread.
If you dont like this S3 music player. i can upload stock one also!
SGS3 music player is great. I was using it for a while on ICS.

I wanted that stock player for Equalizer only if it won't work then its of no use to me. I uses Galaxy Tab 2 which has the same music player as SGS3 and i really like its Equalizer very much but i can't use tab for my music needs everywhere, that's why i wanted it in my SGR.
Anyway could u please upload Stock Music player of Galaxy R ?

Not working for me too.
if you desperately need that music player only, then you need to reflash rom.
else you could also give a try to MiUi Music player. Equilizer works flawlessly and Music player is awesome.
Flashable zip is attached.

Flashing the ROM is the last thing i'd do coz i'm too lazy to do all that backup and restoration thing. I'd try this Miui player.. thanks for that

Here is logcat
it wasnt mentioned hence i took 2 logcats
1) during pushing file to system only (logcat1) (ignore following if this is sufficient)
2) first one followed by reboot (logcat2)
