[Q] Recovery won't load!? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok, so here is a problem I have never had with an android device....
I cannot get my tablet to boot into recovery..I have done it in the past as I installed revolver a long time ago (HTK75.revolver-3.11_epad-8.6.5.21-20111216)
Now I cannot get into the recovery to install a new rom....
I have rooted the phone, Good to Go.
I have downloaded and ran the recovery installer app....
I have tried using the reboot to recovery app (reboot to recovery) which just reboots and keeps my transformer at the ASUS boot screen.
I have tried the power + volume down option and this is what I get:
Android US_epad-user bootloader <e> released by "US_epad-8.6.5.21-20111216
checking for android ota recovery
skiping android ota checking
checking for RCK.. press key <VOL_UP> in 5 sec to enter RCK (So I press it)
Booting recovery kernel image
Thats is...it jsut sits there until I reboot it back to normal again....
Any advice!? I have tried so many different options I have read about on the boards...(plus google)

Try using PERI rooted option to reflash recovery, or run in term emulator with blob on device,
su
dd if=/sdcard/recoveryblob of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p4
reboot

I have tried so many different apps and this one finally worked!!!!!
Your awesome, thanks man!
Thanks given

Glad it worked well :]

reset in a circle while trying to flash
Sorry for my english
Can I ask you to describe step by step how you recovered your tablet
updating its firmware tf300t 4.0.3 to 4.1 encountered a similar problem:
The Device is Unlocked.
Android cardhu-user bootloader <2.10 e> released by "WW_epad-9.4.3.30-20120604" A03
Checking for android ota recovery
Booting recovery kernel image
When rebooted around and only the volume up button can turn it off.
How do you advise to try to recover it, if you can explain step by step
Alternatively see the use of this program [TOOL]PERI-0.4
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681155
p.s. missed one point in which the boot program and should be used as a stop / pause
this cycle if it is necessary to use the program as confused with one thing:
(EG don't let any commands run at the splash screen or in recovery.)

[Q] Vol. down + power dosen't enter the bootloader

After I updated my (unrooeted/locked) Nexus S (9023) to 4.0.3 I wanted to try the 4.0.4 upgrade. After the 4.0.3 the recovery mode lost the backlight, so I figured the it was a good time to root.
I tried this one-click script to unlock. It worked and I installed CWMR and flashed the 4.0.4 upgrade. After a reboot the phone had ICS 4.0.4 and got root.
But not all is working. I lost the ability to get into the bootloader by pressing 'vol down.' & 'power'. The phone just starts normally.
The only way I can get into the bootloader, is to "reboot to bootloader" from a command line. If I choose recovery, I get a picture of an android at its back with a red ! (2105.dk/temp/img_1161.jpg). After two minutes it automatically reboots. What has gone wrong? What does it mean? And how can I fix it?
I'm new at this, so i'm out of ideas
try Vol up + power
Ahhh... now i'm feeling a bit stupid
Okay, i'm able to get into the bootloader, but the problem with the recovery still remains. (what does the picture mean? - 2105.dk/temp/img_1161.jpg)
I've tried both CWRM and TWRP. They seems to flash with no errors, but i still can not get them started from the bootloader (fastboot mode?).
Not sure if it's what you are looking for since I can't see the picture you are talking about but I think it's the recovery "security" screen. When you are there press power first and maintain it to press vol up, you should now be into the recovery...
Also remember stock rom has a script that overwrites any custom recovery with stock recovery each time the rom loads.
Yes, pressing [power] + [vol. up] at the recovery "security/error" screen, starts up a recovery.
I also didn't knew that the stock ROM overwrites the recovery. I never seen it mentioned any where else.
Thanks for the hints.
Okay, after learning how the stock OS trying to reinstall stock recovery, I managed to rename /etc/install-recovery.sh to *.bak
Now the stock recovery stays away, and CWM recovery stays on permanent.
Also, the error screen doesn't show up any more. (never found out what it means)

recovery boot issues - red triangle, then reboot

I'm having issues getting recovery to work on a Verizon version xoom. I first flashed CWM version 4.0.0.4. The first time I tried to boot into it, it was stuck on the android with the red triangle for a long time before finally getting into it (coincidentally when I was hitting the volume key, don't know if that's related). Anyway, since then I haven't been able to get into it. It will be suck on the red triangle screen for a minute or two before rebooting into the stock rom (I'm running stock ICS). Since then, I've tried flashing the new TWRP 2.2.2 or whatever version it is and it has no effect. It's still doing the same thing. Any clue what's wrong?
So what I'm reading is suggesting that the android guy I'm seeing is the stock recovery. I'm not sure how that's happening. I'm installing the recovery using fastboot on my PC and being in the bootloader on my xoom. The prompts on both appear to confirm success.
I haven't tried this yet as I'm at work, but I think I've got the issue sorted. The following is what appears to be happening from what I've read.
1. I've still got the custom recovery stalled. When the Android guy pops up, one needs to press volume up to enter the options. Otherwise, it reboots.
2. The recovery flashes are taking because I'm booting back into the rom after a flash. The system's built in recovery protection is re-flashing the original recovery at that point.
3. To make my CWM/TWRP/whatever flash stick, I'll need to power down and then boot directly into the recovery.
I'll post again tonight to say if this works. Hopefully this thread can help out others who have the same issue.
If you don't get that to work fastboot img from link..

[Q] Photon Q can't get root

hi guys, my photon q (unlocked bootloader) running on Jelly Bean can't root. I follow step by step from this . When I flash CWMrecovery I get "variable not supported" in the middle on my screen and then every into recovery there's triangle red (above android logo). I also can't find back-up and restore option in my recovery. And when I tried flash SuperSU via recovery I got this:
-- Install /sdcard/Root...
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
Installation aborted.
So I used another method, I used motofail2go to get root. but the problem goes to this: Always exploit failed, already factory reset (wipe data/cache) and push volume up + button power but nothing (exploid failed again)
Any ideas guys?
First, if your bootloader is unlocked you do NOT need to do motofail2go or any of that other nonsense.
Second, I recommend you try searching before posting.
If you search for "variable not supported" there is a treasure trove of information.
Take this thread for example. Seems stock recovery is playing tricks on you, unfortunately. It is curable tho.
Edit - this guy solved it by using TWRP...
I wonder if there's some file that just needs to be removed before flashing recovery? I'm not sure, but give TWRP a shot. It will root the device for you as well
Yeah I got rooted, I suggest to prefer TWRP than CWM. big thanks guys
How to install TWRP with JB OTA running
Here is a step-by-step for anyone who stumbles here looking for an answer. I had to remember how I forced it through the first time, so I could install TWRP on my second PQ. GOO manager doesn't install TWRP, despite offering to. I believe this is due to JB.
1. Download TWRP recovery file & save to "platform-tools" folder
2. Start command prompt in platform-tools folder
3. ~type "adb reboot-bootloader" (phone will boot into bootloader)
4. ~type "fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.5.0.0-asanti_c.img" (when that is the name of the TWRP recovery file in platform tools)
5. unplug USB, push power button - phone will turn off
6. Hold "vol-up" button in and press power button, release "vol-up" when screen turns on, phone will boot TWRP.
7. NAND backup, Flash rom or other.
Do it in this exact order & it will work. (should)
Enjoy *****es!

[Q] Red Triangle on Android Man

I have a Xoom WiFi on Android 4.1.2
I was trying to Unlock, Flash Recovery, Root and then Flash a Rom. I have Flashed on my phone a couple of times so I am a little familiar with the process.
I did the following:
1.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot reboot
2.
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot flash recovery "name of file".img. (the file i used was "recovery-clockwork-touch-6.0.3.1-wingray.img").
3.
Once you have verification on your device that this has been flashed, reboot your device by holding volume up + power.
Then 3 seconds after you see the Motorola logo, hit volume down. You should now see "Android Recovery" in the top left corner. Hit volume up to boot into recovery.
This is where things go wrong.
Upon reboot,
I press down volume upon seeing the logo.
It then says Android Recovery.
I then press up volume.
then it says entering Android Recovery Mode
reading ODM Fuse:1
Then the Green Android man shows up with the red triangle.
It sits there for a while then boots into Android normally.
I have been searching for a solution since this morning. Everything I found about this has not helped.
Earlier in the day I did Flash a different Recovery so I think I have two. I installed the ROM manger app. It shows two installed.
ClockworkMod Recovery
Team Win Recovery Project (TWRP)
I am stuck as to what to do... Please help.
Thanks
Jim

One of the files link is broken.
The requested URL /atftas/OEM/Motorola/XOOM/Xoom-Universal-Root.zip2 was not found on this server.
I have another problem.
Now I have two devices. If I unplug the Xoom it still finds emulator 5554. What is emulator 5554?
Thanks
Jim
I got around the emulator 5554 problem by using the -d option. I followed everything and all went fine. I installed the app Root Checker Basic but it says Sorry! this device does not have proper root access.
All steps completed with no errors.
I guess I'm stuck again.
Jim
I flashed back to stock. Did all the steps again and the same thing.
I tried several more times and it still would not work.
I went to another site and downloaded the root.zip and it worked this time. The root file on this site would not work for for some reason.
The Android man with the red triangle problem is also gone. Not sure what fixed it. I assume that it was because I flashed back to stock and used a different root.zip file.
Thanks for all the help
Jim

Need help flashing Katkiss 6.0.1 , Recovery Partition Not Found / Nothings Working

So, I just decided to try and Flash the old TF101 with Katkiss 6.0.1 and Gapps, but I always get stuck on the same problem.
My TF101 is running Android 4.0.3 ICS and USB Debugging is on
I downloaded TWRP app on the transformer, as well as the latest .blob flash file through the app.
Before this, I rooted the tablet using Kingroot.apk, which worked. When I went to flash the tablet with the recovery, the app noted "Recovery Partition not found".
I tried to boot into recovery mode on my own, (Pressing Pwr + Volume down , Then hitting Volume Up), The android screen popped, up and then flashed to a fallen android with a red triangle.... The screen stays on this for a minute and then boots into the normal system. I can't even boot into recovery through ADB, using the
Code:
adb reboot recovery
, The tablet will just reboot normally, not into recovery mode.
The Device does recognize through ADB....
Is my recovery partition just non existent? Even when I just let the system though without pressing volume up, it only gives me the option of (Android) or (Erase Data). when I click erase data, ill stay on the asus loading screen indefinitely and nothing will happen until i turn it off and on.
I just cant seem to boot into TWRP for some reason, and that means I just cant install the downloaded custom ROM.
How Can I fix this and boot into TWRP? I've tried for hours and have been hung up due to the same problem each time, even after rooting.
Did you already solve that problem? I also need a solution. Thanks
