Resolution question - Asus Transformer TF700

I'm getting the tf700 for my birthday and I'm just wondering how it handles gaming with the increased resolution. Is the frame rate noticeably different or is it the same as like the tf201.
Thanks

In Holland we have a saying that translates roughly as 'you shouldn't scrutinize a donated horse's teeth'.
M'kay, now seriously...
1) Congratulations with your preent, it will be fun.
2) While I haven't run any really 'hard' games yet, the few simpler ones have absolutely no stutter or lag or whatsoever, so I think it should be fine. Whenever I handled a Prime, there were some occasional jitters and hangs and so on as well. It should be no worse on the Infinity (since, although it needs to 'push' significantly more pixels, it does at the same time carry a more powerful GPU). If the video rendering capability is anything to go by, I feel assured -- it has, so far, played pretty much anything I have thrown at it, regardless of format or resolution.
When will you be getting it?

Thanks for the response I'm not going to worry anymore. I'm getting it by the end of July and intend to root it right away and tweak the build prop a lil

[Q] Kyocera Echo - Pros and cons?

Hey, I've been hearing a lot of people say they didn't like the Echo, but I've seen it's spec sheet as well as it's form and I like what I see. However, with this many techs saying it sucks, I'd like to know why. My HTC Hero has lower specs and it did me well for a while. Sure it sucks that HTC didn't learn to program until the Evo and instead made it incredibly slow, but with the Echo being about as fast as the Evo Slider that I saw in the store (from what I remember on the spec sheets), I would think that that would solve any problems I'd have with it and give me a lot of better stuff. The only thing I couldn't find are any compatible ROMs. Since it's new, it would have to use a custom ROM that was built for a different system, but with it being dual screen, I'm not sure that it would do anything except duplicate it on both screens at best. I'm willing to wait on custom ROMs for a bit, but I'd like to know what issues I'd have as a tech as well as as a user.
So, what do you like about the phone and what don't you like? I've heard people complaining that the people who designed it's form didn't know what they were doing and people who don't know how to do their jobs correctly, shouldn't do them at all, but I can live with the bar in the middle of the screen. I mean, you can still watch it on one of the screens just like any other phone if it gets annoying.
I've had an Echo since release day and love it. Previously, I had an HTC Hero running Gingerbread and Firerats custom partitions, so I know enough to be dangerous.
I think the biggest problem with the Echo is all perception. Since it's neither 'sleek and cool' or 'a processing beast' it's immediately dismissed.
It's a 1 ghz phone, so it runs just fine. So far it's done everything I've asked it to do, and I couldn't be happier.
Battery life is on par with other smart phones as far as I can tell. With VERY heavy use, meaning I'm leaving the screen on, chatting via instant chat, listening to music, etc... I can get 3 to 4 hours of life. Keep in mind this is with running both screens at the same time.
In a normal usage day, I can easily get 12-16 hours out of the phone.
Surfing the web, reading, e-mail, Facebook, all these tasks are awesome on this phone using both screens. I would hate to go back to single screen at this point. In fact, I use my Echo more now than I ever used my Hero.
As far as cons go, well it's not the fastest phone out there, and it's not the smallest/lightest phone out there. To me it doesn't really matter, I wear my phone in a belt holster so the size and weight just isn't an issue with me. And even though it's not the fastest phone, it's still plenty fast and quite capable.
I've heard some complaints about the screens being 'ugly' or of 'poor quality', perhaps I'm not that picky, but they look fine to me. They don't compare to an AMOLED screen, but few do.
I also haven't had any of the issues that others have run into:
• random reboots
• screens not matching in color
As with all phones though, there are people that have issues, so I don't think these are any different from any other phone on the market.
Overall, I think it's a great phone and I believe it's too bad that so many people immediately dismissed this phone, most without ever even using it. Too each their own, I guess that's why there are dozens of phones out there.
J
The Echo is in HD, though, right?
What do you mean 'HD'?
High definition is 1280X720 or 1920X1080, and the Echo screen is 480X800.
I mean is it 720P to 1080P resolution. Screen size doesn't determine HD, resolution does, love.
It has he same first gen snapdragon processor found in the original evo and the nexus one so its fast I do really like the idea of having a phone with a tablet size screen just ill wait til it gets a dual core chip and a gpu but saying it is a crap phone doesn't do it justice its just a little behind the curve

Um...480X800 is the resolution of a single screen of the Echo. With both screens you get a resolution of 960X800. The low-end standard for HD is 1280X720. So, no the Echo is not HD, nor is any other phone out on the market. However, due to the smaller screen size, true HD resolution on a phone is probably a waste anyways.
That being said, the video camera is rated at recording in 720p.

The Echo is CDMA, so if the only network over there is GSM, it's not going to work.

Huh... You're right. I looked that up and that's news to me. Now it makes me wonder why my Hero phone has a finer tuned screen than the other phones its size. I've seen this size screen on phones that look so feathered its terrible.
I bought the Echo and it's a great phone. Only problem is is that sometimes it takes a bit longer than it should to unlock the screen, but everything else works well. Also, I still have no idea why it can't be considered HD just because of it's size. I mean, it looks even clearer than my laptop that's in HD. Maybe it deserves a better term than HD or something and no one's ever thought of it yet. lol
It's a sleek design and gives you space to work, but when you try sliding your finger from one side to the other it's a bit awkward with the seam there. I'd rate this phone 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.
Definitely an awesome phone.

For mobile phones they have a standard called qHD (quarter HD) which is 960X540. Probably not going to get much better than that in the foreseeable future. qHD on a small screen is going to look like HD does on a 40" screen (or real close).
As for it taking longer to unlock...has it always done this? I haven't noticed a lag on my Echo. Sometimes apps you have installed have unintended consequences. I installed a widget to let me adjust the timeout on the screen by just tapping it, and it started to cause all kinds of lag and graphical issues. Once I uninstalled it...everything was just fine.

Help
I jus bought my son the Kyocera Echo but, Ive sent him pics via text & he cant seem to save them?
Ive tried helping (I have an EVO) but cant figure it out....Please Help!
we are trying to get the Echo community together from various forums and other places in order to find a way to get root for this device man! Please come and join, its absolutely free! and its for ppl like you guys that want to get the most out of your echo! We are constantly working, I am flashing different phone's recoveries like wild trying to see if one will work on the echo (this is like walking over a cliff because it could brick my device, which shows you how committed I am to this) Like I said we are all trying to get to an ultimate goal, and XDA doesnt take us seriously (not bashing XDA, because I love this site man) So head on over to Hear the Echo, sign up, do forum posts, and get our name out there!
P.S. - We are in need of donations (trying to get a lot more bandwidth for more users and lose the ".webs" piece to the site name) so if you want to buy me a phone case lol, we welcome them 100% of the way!
Thanks for the support,

had the prime. sold it,and now have the A700

Same type of performance, but this screen is freaking awesome. So love this guy. Acer used to remind me of low end crap. Not with guy. Best choice I have made in a long time.
Glad to hear your pleased with the device, with demandarin selling Asus so hard over there I'm surprised you made the switch . Hope you enjoy it as much as I do, backing up my blue rays now with bated breath!

I currently have Prime and thinking about selling to get either this or Asus Infinity. Haven't made up my my mind yet. The biggest turn off for me with A700 is the lack of any upgrade (except screen) over A510.

Agree. Absolutely amazing. Finally back at Android again after having some really bad experiences with the prime. Bought an iPad 3. Was impressed by the screen but missed the Android OS. Feel like I'm back home Impressive screen, nice performance. My only gripes:
Screen sensitivity : even at the highest sensitivity setting it fails sometimes to register some taps .... Guess i need to get accustomed to this and tap a little harder. Then again...
Rendering of web pages: in general web pages look awesome, but on pages with a lot of text and/or graphics you see the dynamic rendering of the fonts/graphics to a higher resolution. Sometimes you need to wait before things are readable.
But all in all, a great tablet.
I'm glad to hear you guys are enjoying it. The one concern I had was screen brightness...any issues there to report? I don't really plan to use it outside.

The auto-brightness doesn't seem to work terribly well. Seems to put the screen "dimmer" than I personally care for.
I reset it to a static "30%" brightness or so, and it's fine for me now.
I did go out in direct sunlight (beautiful day out), to test screen readability. Cranked up to 75% and was good to go.
Hope this helps.
I am thrilled with the screen of my acer. I have always hated Acer products, and I have lots of tablets. But this tab is freaking great. Real solid build. Cant say enough about the screen. Just overall, the best Tab I have ever had...

Good to hear. I have a 16GB Gtab 10.1 right now and my biggest gripe is the screen resolution and storage. It sounds like this is a bargain at $450.
What about responsiveness?
Lag?
Sent from my LG-P920h using XDA
I had fears of lag too from the YouTube video that was out pre release. While I was syncing the first 12 hours there was some noticeable delay. Especially with app drawer. But 36 hrs in I can say its as snappy as I would expect it to be, especially for 450 and a 10 to 11 hour battery life. Can't beat the performance for the price

Hows the cameras?
With a good light situation (outside for example) the cam is fine.
Inside pictures seem to be a little grainy.
I'm noticing a lot of lag using ezPDF Reader Pro. I almost considered returning it to Acer until I saw the 25% restocking fee. I've been using an iPad 1 for the last few weeks to view Army regs in PDF format, and the iPad was much quicker at page-turns, etc.
One of the YouTube reviews talked about a possible update from Acer to optimize performance. Pure speculation, I'm sure, but that would be nice. I also heard that the Andriod OS isn't optimized for quad-core processors yet.

If the reviewer got the test unit from Acer, perhaps that was said to avoid upsetting Acer and future test units? Seems the Tegra 3 gpu was not intended for such high res displays, based on benchmarks compared to the A5X. Not seeing how this can be fixed by software, unless the actual data is downsampled to lower the load on the GPU (defeats the purpose of the high res, but would people really notice?).

Disappointed.. Not recomended

I was pretty excited to upgrade from my xoom to this amazing tablet. Specs up the wazzoo...
But I am very disappointed. I lag is really bad. I if I am doing something like downloading and app other things basically freeze up. Using the browser is laggy while downloading. Battery life is also pretty poor compared to the xoom. I use my tablet at work.. My xoom easily lasts all day and even into the next day. The infinity however was giving me a low battery warning at the end of the day.
Yes the screen is nice and the tablet is thinner and lighter. It has a dock which is all great but doesn't mean anything if it stutters and lags giving me constant app not responding errors. I would have thought it had a hardware problem except forums everywhere are talking about poor job performance. Let me be clear it isn't poor it is aweful!

You're not alone. Yes, the 700 has its quirks and minor defects, but I love it so far. Provides gerat functionality and is snappy enough. Just want the I/O to be fixed and I'll be completely happy.
@OP: Battery life for my device is pretty god, as the battery easily gets me through 1,5 days of work, so I guess you'll have to let it settle in for a bit. You might be judging it too quickly.
I had some of the same feelings the first day while I tried to use it as it downloaded and installed over 150 apps. But by the second day I was really seeing great performance. I did get a system reboot after a hang in Facebook tho.
Battery life was pretty impressive. Over 13 hours with 3 hours screen on time and still 30% left. That's without the additional dock battery. And that was on performance mode and max brightness non-super ips+ almost the whole time.
Have not got mine yet, still deciding...
But it seems the OP was experiencing the I/O issue. But how often will you be downloading/transfering any files/apps on this.
Once that is done, from what I read the experience is great.
Also, I have read to try a different browser as well. Either Chrome or Dolphin. Try those and report back.
Have had mine for a day and a half. It really stutters and is quite herkee-jerkee with some apps (Adobe Reader, for one) and on website browsing. It frequently takes a second or three for the page to become focused. Never experienced this with the iPad. Quite a let down.
Wow - I can't believe what I'm reading! Personally, coming from a TF101, I think the Infinity is absolutely awesome! Personally, I have a feeling that the 1-3 second pauses are more of an Android thing than a hardware issues. I'm wondering if the hardware is starting to surpass Android in terms of performance...
But I haven't really experienced these major slow downs. Sure, it'll get a little slow while downloading/installating apps, but isn't that kinda to be expected?

Agreed. Got mine yesterday - no I/O issues to speak of. Love the build quality, the screen - everything is ultra smooth. Fantastic kit and it blows the Ipad out of the water.
Installing apps in the fresh won't happen all that often, but since it hangs also when updating apps, you'll stll encounter it frequently.
Also, Dolphin is a privacy black hole -- in the past, they were caught red-handed when stealing all possible kinds of users' info without their consent. I'd stay away from it and use Opera or Boat instead (if needed at all, because the stock browser actually is suprisingly quick about its stuff).

It's good you're pointing the finger towards these issues, I've done some pretty bad advertising of Dolphin before I read more about it. Nevertheless, I'd still add Chrome to the list.
i came from a xoom as well and i feel the opposite. yes there was lag while downloading my apps, but once it was completed, i havent had any lag issues. the ability of having a fully functioning memory card is also a step up from the xoom. the xoom had its issues as well. i will till keep my xoom around because it will probably get JB first. But i doubt i will ever use it as my main device.

I've touched upon these issues before, but to rehash: I think the current version(s) of Android is/are ill-equipped for the incredibly powerful hardware we now get onto the market. I've given the example before that Unix systems scale beautifully on low-spec hardware and that they outperform any other OS in that scenario, but that they won't show that much improvement if you up the specs to the level we're now using in both our desktops and on the go, whereas in that case the other OSes gain much performance.
It will improve (and quite possibly vastly), but FullHD is a bit too much to bite off and chew for Android at the moment.
Dutch's phone runs beautifully on ICS (as does mine) because the hardware is more in line with what the developers were expecting to have to drive.
Wait and see.
It's quite pecuilar that iOS is actually based on the BSD systems (UNIX) and how far it got from there, not always in a good way. Let's hope Android, being based on Linux, will copy the best, not the worst paths here.

I'm all for android, never tried apple product before, but lately wanted too see what iPad would be like in real life.
After paying $500-600 for a tablet and return period ends, I don't want to be the one left hoping that maybe Jelly Bean will make it better. Except for screen, iPad's hardware is much less powerful then Infinity's but it runs smooth.
I really believe it's a software fault, 1 android system is made for all, which brings all the bugs.
When an apply is made for iPad it's tested on the same iPad it will be used on. As simple as that!

It isn't only the download and install of apps although that is worst. After using the xoom it is honestly just not as smooth. Yes some things are smooth and good. Like playing a game or swipping screens but things are definitely not right with this device. And it has hang issues from time to time just out of the blue. Course I have a lot of stuff going on. I have gmail, person mail, exchange mail, I have rss feeds, I have news apps. So I have quite few apps that will pull data from time to time.
But nothing I didn't exactly have setup the same on the xoom. Considering the xoom of a year old I'd REALLY expect this device to be at least as good.
Ive never owned a tab before of any kind, so this Infinity will be my first. I dunno how it's gonna be for me, but I hope I don't have as bad of I/O errors some seem to have.

Should i be regretting buying a nexus 5

I've read alot of the threads and it does seem like alot of mixed reviews about it... i'm coming from a s3 so i'm hoping i'll be impressed besides the screen (sorry i love amoled)
i hope the problems everyone been talking about is gonna be fixed by google updates or what not

well i broke my s3 a couple months back and been with the bb9900 but i did vow to buy the next google flagship
ahahah i've been with the google expirience from roms but not from a nexus maybe it'll be a difference
there is a difference. Something you'll learn quickly: pure google developed by thousands of people for a certain device will always be smoother than a port done by a small group of people.
I came from an S3 myself, I ran AOKP on it most of its life. IMO, the N5 easily tops it in all aspects. The screen is ridiculously sharp, and color reproduction is great compared to the S3's pentile display. The camera works SO MUCH better in lower light scenarios that it's not even funny. Actually, it works better in every scenario that I've tried so far. HDR+ is also quite nice and can really make for some great shots. Battery life I can't really comment on since I just got it today, but I've already gotten more screen on time out of it than I ever managed with my S3, and the N5 came out of the box at 80% charged for me.
So, two big things to remember:
1. The people most prone to posting experiences online are going to be those with either an overwhelming positive or negative experience, and based off of my admittedly personal observations, negative reports almost always outweigh positive ones in terms of passion (if not quantity) - regardless of the quality of the product. In other words: one or two frustrated people tend to make infinitely more noise than ten to twenty happy ones; consequently, that doesn't mean the product in question is a dud.
2. This is the inaugural batch of hardware. There are going to be a few minor kinks in this first batch that will be fixed with the next production runs from the factory. Usually this is very minor. Unrefined edges, very slight chassis tweaks, etc. Part and parcel for impatience and immediate gratification is the roll of the dice that you might get a unit that is... a bit alpha
All this being said, the answer to your question is...
Absolutely not.
Mine is going to be delivered tomorrow, but there have been enough variances in the reports and reviews for me to definitely believe that most units are of excellent quality, and any "lemons" out there are well within the bounds of what is to be expected from an initial hardware distribution. Plus, it also helps that almost all gripes seem to be more software related than hardware - and will be fixed by Google in the coming weeks.
if there's something wrong with it, dont be afraid to RMA it immediately. especially on a first batch of hardware. put it throw all the tests you can at it, i bet you could google this and find out a great set of apps to run on it as soon as you get it. i like cpu and gpu benchmark apps as well as a flashing color screen testing apps(to check for bad pixels), plus any testing that you yourself will be doing. like extended periods of gaming or youtube watching or even just browsing, even if you dont plan on every playing a game for 2 hours straight, do it and see if there's any hiccups.
From my experience and research, if you get one with no defects than your in great shape.
If you do get one with a defect like me (speaker defective causing massive distortions in phone calls and most audio) then you had a really bad day.

Just got a tab and its very slow and sluggish.

some videos of its sloweness.....

so slow its painful
Would a custom rom make this any better?
Had a look at those vids, looks to be about average for the stock ROM and is similar to the performance I was getting on stock.
Any of the custom ROMs will help with the sluggishness.

Samsung puts only 1gb ram and fills it with all kinds of it's own services that use all the ram and bug down the system:
Solution:
-Replace Touchwiz with Go Launcher HD.
-Root device and freeze all Samsung stuff that boot up with the system which you don't need such Samsung hubs(games, news etc), Yahoo services etc. Titanium backup can be of help to freeze.
-uncheck cpu in power savings option.
-reduce or stop animations in developer options.

Don't forget to freeze Touchwiz after having replaced it with Go launcher HD. This will prevent it from loading again in the background and hugging your memory. See how your device becomes fast

maybe u got defect tab 3 ,try antutu benchmark and see how much u get score?
I had tab 3 7.0 got so slow with only 8800 score, and its got RMA due to auto shut down motherboard, and they give me new tab3, now its score 12000-13000pts,more faster and smooth.
Root it. It is much faster with a custom ROM
Don't use the Facebook app. It's a bloated mess.
Don't use S-Voice. Worthless. Use Google Now. Much better voice search/assistant
Yup it sucks
I was going to start the same thread before I saw yours. The SGT3 is a horrible tablet, cheaply built, slow, antiquated resolution and overpriced. I bought one after my Asus Infinity 700T was stolen after a visit too a library. When I went into the store to buy a new tablet I asked the sales person what he would recommend, I had a budget of 300. He excitedly showed me the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1, the demo unit unfortunately wan't able to start, an omen I should have realized. I was impressed by the size and weight, the cheap plastic feel was worrying but the latter two plus's were enough for me to pull the trigger. When I got it home, charged it, setup up all of the user credentials, the first thing I noticed was how cartoonishly big everything looked. I did however like the look of the keyboard, so I pushed on and installed all of my favorite apps, I started to notice a lot of lag when installing apps, okay maybe the Play Store just isn't optimized for the x86 CPU, I continued. When the tablet was finished installing, I rebooted, than the nightmare what is Tab 3 started. First I tried surfing with Chrome but when more than 6 tabs are opened, do to the lack of memory you will loose whatever you have typed in one tab after you switch to another. The system is very sluggish, typing with a Logitech Keyboard in QuickOffice, the screen can't keep up with my typing. I can spend all day going through all of my apps and describing to you how slow each one performed but you get the idea, SLOW. I wanted to comment on the screen, the resolution is ridiculously bad for a 300 dollar 2014 tablet, I am actually shocked as to how bad it is. It's bright enough but man, Samsung has gotten so cocky to think that they can shove this crap down our throats. Not to mention how easy it is to scratch, breath on it and it's scratched. I decided to try installing a custom ROM for giggles, I had already decided to return it, wow slim pickings in that arena. The two I found were also really bad, the tablet was a little faster, memory management improved a little, not sure why the developers thought that changing the look of the color scheme for the notifications tab was a good idea, the ROMs did nothing to improve the overall experience though, nothing.
I returned the Tab 3 after only two days of what I would call the worst experience I have ever had with a gadget and bought a Nexus 10. 100x the better machine, it even cost 30 dollars less and has built in HDML. Oh the HDMI, I forgot about the HDMI, Samsung charges 40 dollars for the HDMI cable, it however doesn't charge the Tab 3 when connected and because the battery is so bad you can maybe watch a movie and a half. It also doesn't output 1080P when your in the desktop, just 720P so everything is fuzzy. Stay away from this tablet people, it's bad, expensive and insulting to the consumer.

I'd have to heartily disagree with you on that. I've had mine for a few days now and it's everything I expected and then some. Even before I froze a ton of stuff it was lagfree for me. Yeah the resolution kinda blows but it's a tablet. If you want 1080p look at your monitor, 720 is more than fine for a mid-level tablet. As for the Nexus, well I'd have to say the Tab is better but my opinion is jaded because it has a SD Slot, that's a monumental dealbreaker for me when it comes to the Nexus. You talk about it being 2014 well in that case the Nexus should have an SD Slot, that's an archaic thing do by not including one. Not everyone wants to cloud everything. :good:
Regardless, this tablet is more than competent. There is a reason it has a huge community and such great ratings everywhere, it's probably one of the highest quality tablets for its price.

There is some things about this tablet that really irks me but I guess I have high hopes for the KK update helping it out. I also agree with you on the SD slot, that is one main reason I did not buy a Nexus. I also must say that I love the IR blaster and the watchon app, its very convenient and I don't need to find my logitech harmony when I'm on my tablet to mess with the tv. I think I got a good tablet for the price I paid, if I had wanted better then I would of been paying $550+. But I am typing this on my laptop with the tab beside me and my Note 2 and a PS Vita,oh and the ipod touch. I think I have enough devices to connect to the internet and the tab fills its roll well.

I'm glad your happy with your purchase. The Samsung Tab 3 10.1 when compared with other tablets actually has one of the smallest followings at XDA. Just compare the previous versions forum with the new one, you have 2 custom ROMs versus 20 plus for the Tab 2. Every single review I have read says the same thing, laggy tablet, obsolete the second it came off of the assembly line. The SD card issue doesn't really bother me because I happen to like cloud storage but I understand your need for it. Can you tell me what you like about it, it's just so slow for me, my Motorola Xoom 1 that is 4 years old feels faster. In fact I get higher frame rates in almost every game that I play vs. the Tab 3. What about the problem of scratching, that doesn't bother you or only having 300mb of memory free for apps, the horrible battery life, 50 dollar HDMI cable that doesn't output 1080p desktop nor does it charge the unit while plugged in, oh my gosh the list goes on. I would have spent the extra 100 and gotten a Sony Xperia Z.

It's much slower than the Nook Tablet which has been given to my mom since I bought the Tab3 and frankly I've never wanted to go back. As far as speed is concerned if I can multi window a HD video and look at Facebook or the internet at the same time I'd consider the device high speed. Seriously, this guy has done very good for me so far and I'm a major techie(Should be evident by my existence on XDA). I don't really play 3D games on my Tab since i leave major gaming for my PC however FPSE(PS1 Emulator) runs like a champ on this tab. Scratching? All LCD screens have been known to be prone to scratching, if that concerns you so much you can get a case and a screen protector, on my old iPod I bought a infinicase and I took that thing EVERYWHERE, dropped it probably once or twice a day and it was never scratched, having a case that puts the screen at a lifted height from the ground guarantees safety unless it hits at an angle which in that case you're boned. If you're referring to key scratching or something then idk, I've never imagined putting my tablet near things that could ruin it. 300mb of free memory for apps? Taking a quick glance at my storage i have almost 10 gigs of free room on my system storage and plenty on my SD Card, after installing probably a dozen or so various applications. 50$ HDMI cable? I'm not surprised, those suckers ain't cheap. Honestly if you wanted to HDMI it to your TV I would've checked online for more information before making the purchase, the fact that it doesn't charge while being plugged into HDMI in no way surprises me, unless you wanted a charger+HDMI in one sorta thing. Once again I don't personally care about 1080p or 720, I can only see the difference on a monitor, on a TV it's serviceable at worst which is more than enough for a tablet hooked up to a TV.
felt like pitching in here to say that the OP didnt mention what size he got - if it was the 7" model, its specs are basically the same as the tab 2 7.0
my tab 3 8.0 was a lot faster than my tab 2 7.0, and a hella lot faster once it was tweaked/OC'd.
agreed with one users comment about the MHL HDMI being poor - the cable i have allows it to charge while it works, but due to the tablet being 16:10, i get black bars on my 16:9 HDTV. the built in movie app corrects this, but it doesnt make sense for it to not be 16:9 in the first place.
What are you running up there..top left corner...pls list out the apps running in the background

Gotta totally agree with you there on not wanting to cloud everything, so the good old SD card is a must IMHO.
But horses for courses as they say.

Forgot to add that I recently purchased a Samsung Galaxy Tab3 and think it's great and a lot nicer to use than my aging ASUS TF101
gonna just sell mine i think and take a £50 loss. I cant stand how slow it is even with a custom rom.
It can't be thaaat slow (under normal circumstances). I mean there must be something defective or something going wrong in the background. I know that benchmarks are not the most ideal way to measure performance but having a Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for comparison which performs like 8800 on Antutu and Tab 3 10.1 is in the margin of 20000-22000 it's hard to believe that the device is not capable to offer atleast equaly good performance as the Tab 2 7.0 which is rather good (not the best, but not even near to what your Youtube videos show let's say). I plan to buy it brand new for 210 Euros (~289$) and I HIGHLY DOUBT you can find another tablet for that price with the same screen size and not be from a random Chinese brand or a rebranded Chinese product. My advice would be, wait for KitKat update to come out or try CM11 and then redo a review and if you consider it to be still that bad return it or sell it. Also you don't describe on what usage your were doing with it. I plan to get it for my mother just for surfing and stream some Youtube videos and I doubt it's going to be that bad but feel free to prove me wrong.
im getting 13149 score
it gets to 87% then says test is terminated.
