The device can hold more than one day ?
And more than 5 hours of screen ?
And how much free memory do you have? In the original rom I can get only 240mb free. :/

It's good just flash it

I actually glad I saw this thread. Been having issues with the wifi calling since the wifi seems to go to sleep even though it says it isnt. This looks like it will be the reason why I unlock my phone if tmo/htc/qualcom cant get their crap together.

@ torxx
i have a strang problem since trickdroid 4.0
after start my phone from a night in standby it needs a moment to reconnect with wifi.

You are getting ONE day+ with a massive use?
didn't fix it for me
My Wifi connection is solid but every couple of hours the wifi gets disconnected and reconnects. I have trickdroid v5.0 for tmobile. I beleive I tried the v4.4 for the international one s and it had the same issue. I did go thru all of the steps (bootloader unlock, root, fastboot script, and recovery installation of rom). I did it twice for good measure. i still have the same problem.
On a side note I'm not sure if this is related but my friend with the exact same tmo one s and I were doing speed tests. He Consistently got twice my speeds. We both have the same tmobile service and were at the location using the same server. He was using stock ROM and rooted.

I tried updating to the latest tmo radio and still no luck. I flashed the LeeDroid rom and I got high speeds, even though I flashed the newest radio on the Leedroid rom too. But I'm getting the same speeds as my friend is on his stock rom.
Also another issue I noticed with the tmo trickdroid v5 is that it doesn't recognise a (wired) headset for sounds or mic. Did anyone else have this issue?
update: the headset works fine on leedroid fyi

I flashed froyo on top of an already set up 1.6 and 2.1 rom's (seperately) and well it went well. booted right up. still had all my apps. whole point of this...I dunno its fun. I got to play with some of my apps. no Google apps carried over. super user was also gone. root explorer wouldnt
open. I was going to install su so I could oc. but root explorer was fc. most of my apps opened and functioned properly, except for no data connection. but I was able to call my boss and hang up on her. maybe a developer can do something with this info. this was sent after restoring back from froyo

so how well does flash work on the G1?
yeah, i "found" a build of froyo numbered 13, and minus the wifi, bluetooth, camera, root, live wallpapers its a nice quick app! all the stuff i said is not working in this build, but it appears the makers are working on that stuff at an alarming pace, and later this week it will be going in full swing. Yes, in this version, Gapps works
kingfroyo can you post the verison of it for everyone to test?

If you're having trouble with WiFi becoming sluggish, it may be as simple as needing to delete your wifi data.
Navigate, in Root Explorer (or any capable of accessing /data) to /data/misc. Now, either delete the /data/misc/wifi folder entirely, or if you're being anal, you can rename it to something like 'backup_wifi'.
Reboot. On this startup, your phone will rebuild the wifi data, and if you're lucky, everything will be back up to speed. It helped out with my issues after flashing a few ROMs. Sometimes that stuff can get corrupted, as I can attest to with my HP Touchpad countless times. Once you're satisfied with the result, you can delete the old folder, if you chose to rename it instead of deleting it.
Anyways, post your results if you try it.
Weird how so many people are having bad WiFi and I'm not. It might be because I'm on the newest T-Mobile stock Rom.

The only trouble I've had is with non-stock ROMs, such as UTB and Black Dragon. I think a lot of those with issues may be doing the same.

Can you port your baseband version, which indicates radio version I think. It can be found in software information->more.
Btw, mine one is 0.15.31501S.19_10.12.31501S.06L

Yes, it could be a solution cos at work with better WiFi router working on 802.11n my phone connects to it all the time without problem but at home my one I believe does not work on n so it may cause the WiFi issue.
However, I still think this is a software problem cos my old incredible s worked flawlessly both at work and home so the radio must playing a role here.

OK, quote myself, there might be something wrong with what I said about Radio and Wifi, there might be no connection between these two. I read some other forums someone suggested Radio has nothing to do with wifi....
Sorry for the confusion, could any one who is familiar with Radio in Android comment on this? If there is indeed no link between these two, we might need to think other things which cause the Wifi problem.
My bad, should have done more research rather than just pointing to Radio which appeared on top of my head when thinking about the problem.

Guys, let's try to stay on topic a bit. This thread has been quasi-hijacked. I posted this because I want to know if others are able to fix their problems by using my fix method. 2 Pages of posts now and not a single person has bothered to say whether they tried my method, much less their results. It's turned into a debate about wifi in general.

Did the HTC one S recieve an update to fix battery issues ? and whats the latest software version ?
Ive got a Sim free HTC one S and its running Software version 1.78.401.2
the reason i ask is im not getting a day out of this phone with moderate use, i mostly use it for twitter and dont play games on it and im getting about 11-12 hours between charges.
im hoping that ive not recieved the battery fix yet because sim free models are always last to get the updates.
Can someone let me know what the latest software version is please ?

its all stock, i have brightness set to auto, and i dont have 4g i have Hdspa+ or 3.5G
ive got it set to GSM instead of GSM/WCDMA Auto, ive got screen time set to 30 secs, i dont want to turn off anything else as it would defeat the object of having a smart phone.
What battery life are you getting ?
There is a big thread about "poor battery".
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1670624
I for one can go 2 days on a single charge... however, unlike you, I am on a custom rom and only turn on features as I need them. Having a smartphone, you should expect to only get less than a day on a single charge. I would say 11-12 hours is pretty very good compared to other phones out there.
Dude use the other thread stop spamming the forums and qhile were at it I like the battery life on the phone think its quite good compared to something like apple lol

Hi all, I am wondering if I should root & flash a custom rom for my device.
Right now my device is working pretty good, but the only thing that bothering me a lot is the battery life.
I can get only 4 hours of screen time, but I want more.
Does it possible to get more than 4 hours in a custom rom?
And does it worth to root my device anyway?
I'm afraid to get more virus because of that, or to not be secure because of the root .. Does it true ?
Please answer my questions, and tell me if it's really worth to root my device or not, and why .

It is possible to get more battery life if that's what you want, to me honestly its worth rooting, right now I'm using trickdroid which is stock and there are more roms out there in the development section but I ended up staying with this one personally, and I have even more battery than when I used to not have rooted it but really it depends on your decision, about the virus thing I haven't really heard about a lot of people having this problem but if your concerned about that you can download a anti virus app for it. I use trickdroid and I'm at 75 percent left in about 13 hrs 22 mins and so many seconds used on this phone so for me its worth the root and I'm a pretty heavy user I text and surf the web while listening to music and play a couple games here and there but over all the battery life is better than it not being rooted. But you should try it out yourself and see if you like it.... Hopefully my answer kinda helps you out

You should try it out for yourself and see if it fits your needs, I get pretty good battery life using this phone on a regularly day, it would usually last me about 4 or 5 hours of hevy use on non root but since I rooted it actually lasts me at least 8 to 9 hours of heavy use and the removal of all the bloat really saves you some battery and really that's what I wanted from the start was all the HTC and T-Mobile apps gone from it but I got more than what I wanted now I'm happy with this custom rom and don't really plan on changing anytime soon unless something better comes out.
Hopefully this helped you out a little

So now that we got the OTA of 4.04, what do you like about it so far? I enjoy how they allowed us to map the Recent Apps button to open the menu. Wifi performance is way better now. But I may have missed things that were fixed or added. Let's hear your thoughts on the new update.

To me the most important thing is to fix the radio so that I don't have to use flight mode or reboot the phone a few times a day in order to get LTE data connection going. So far so good but needs a few more days to evaluate.

I literally thanked HTC out loud when I found out that that ugly black bar is now optional. And I really like the way the home scrolls now. Its more smooth. And I like the slightly different browser. One more thing is the more responsive and snappy feel.

I noticed that vibration mode is off on calculator when it is turned off in keyboards settings. Very helpful bug fix for those who use it more often.
-Menu/overflow button is very appreciated!
-Wi-Fi seems the same... awful range.
*Has anyone done a factory reset after the OTA? I did and now there's an issue disabling Google Books & Movies. I keep disabling them & they keep coming back anytime I reboot. All the other bloat can be disabled ok (though we still can't AT&T Ready2Go).

WiFi range is a lot greater and I have almost 150 MB more RAM available.
I still haven't received the update. Is that normal?

If you rooted just go download the one in the development section and all will be well.

That's probably the way to go. After doing the update with the ota or ruu you will have to use fastboot to flash boot images when going to a custom rom. I tried to flash the Advanced Reboot menu & Quick Settings and it hung up after the boot animation. If I wasn't so lazy I could try and push everything with adb and see if that would work. Also I don't know if Cleanrom 4.5 uses the same kernel or not but you will have to flash the new radio that came in the 2.20 update separately and for me the new radio does make a difference. WiFi and cell are definitely better! Multitasking is as good now as it was for me previously when I did the mod to the init.qcom.post_boot.sh file. I was very happy with the way the phone ran before but now all the animations are smoother and faster, everything opens up faster, noticeable increase in performance. For me quadrant went from 4500 to 5300!!! I'm really liking the remap of the multitasking button especially since I like to use the kindle app on the phone. Sweet! Another thing is it seems to me the capacitive buttons are dimmer than they were before but I was using a different kernel with init.d support so I could make them dimmer, I vaguely remember them being much brighter at one time. For now, there are going to be issues trying to flash different things in recovery but if you have and can use adb that might be an option. Sooo.... all in all I don't regret doing the ota update. I like to stay with the stock os but seriously cleaned up and with a few mods. The only thing I miss is Extended Quick Settings, which isn't a big deal and the mod to revert the situation with links does not work anymore. I even got wifi tethering working! I'm happy with the way the phone is now.

if you want root i wouldn't update via the OTA (use a custom rom). I made that mistake already.

If your bootloader is unlocked before you do the ota you can then unlock afterward and get root. You will have to go into fastboot and lock your bootloader before doing the update and you will need the "Unlock_code.bin" so you can flash that in fastboot after doing the update. There are some very easy instructions in this thread. So you can get root after doing this update, I am rooted and unlocked. It's just harder to flash custom roms now but it can be done.
Forgot to mention two things in my previous post. I now see an additional 150-200 MB of ram than what was available before the update. And it seems like auto-brightness is working better. I think the powers that be did a heck of a job on this update!
