I got my HTC One X about two weeks ago, and I've noticed that on an all black screen in a dark room, it seems to be a little bit washed out in the bottom right corner of the display. Is this due to light bleed/leak or is it normal? Is anybody else seeing this? My phone shipped with 1.85, SN starts with HT25, and says Rev. B on the box it came it, if that matters.

Normal. Be happy that you don't have stuck or dead pixels.
yes, its a common issue.
mine came with it as well, but its only noticeable on max brightness in a dark room.
If you're going to put a case on your phone, it'll cover it up.

Thought it might be. But I'm referring to the bottom right corner on the display, not the casing. I do believe I have a little bit of light leak from the casing, but my case covers it like you said.

This feature will add up to wanting me buy sensation, aside from dust proof, and touch responsiveness issues (hope its software related not grounding stuff):
knowing that LED indicator is behind earpiece grill, can someone describe the visibility:
* looking straight on the phone?
* looking at 45 angle at 2 meter distance from different sides of the phone?
Straight at the phone u can see it, at 45, a half of the flash? Well, it's okay...

It's noticeable to me! That was a feature which is missing on the G2x that drove me crazy every "smartphone" should have a notification light!
Thanks a lot, LED visibility should be no issue now for me.
I will keep an eye on dust entering beneath the screen and swipe not responsive issue..
I wonder if dust already there since phone was bought or dust can enter..?
The latter is worst, it is a screen sealed issue..

There is no dust under my screen. There is no way that dust can enter screen after purchase so those who have dust under screen must of bought a bad phone.
Hey guys,
Today I noticed a very weird looking spot right above the "htc" logo on my TMO Sensation. It seems like there is some fluid just beneath the surface of the screen and the spot is right at the edge of the screen. I am really careful with my phone and i dont think i caused it. I didnt drop it or put any pressure on the screen. And, I always carry my phone in my bag. I really dont know what happened!! I looked at my phone in the sunlight today and it was there. I know for sure it wasnt there yesterday.
Anyone else having the same issue? What should i do?
Thanks.
PS. I will take a picture of the spot and post it when i get home.
For sure post a picture. Maybe it's the dust issue everyone is having?
I know its not the dust issue for sure. It looks like there's some kind of liquid under the screen. And its starting from the edge of the screen.
i have the same problem and i actually just sent my phone in today for repair. it looked like some circles (definitely not dust) that i can rub with my shirt and they would disappear, but only to come back 15 minutes later.
Well, i tried cleaning that area but no luck. where did you send it for repair?
I believe it is some kind of sensor, probably the light sensor for the automatic brightness or the proximity sensor. I have it as well. It's between the htc logo and the other sensor to the left of the speaker. I'm sure it's meant to be there. No need to send it in for repairs.

I hope that aint the beginning of a newton ring in youre sake.
Its a kinda oil looking spot?
For newton rings they say you applied to much presseaur on the screen wich caused it.

@Jimmah555 The spot is right above "tc" of "htc" logo. and the proximity sensor is right above it. so i dont think it's meant to be there. weird!! i am gonna goto the tmobile store tomorrow and check out the demo handset.

You Sir are great!! Thank you.
So if that's the proximity sensor under the glass like it shows on the pdf manual, what's the little circle thing to the left of the speaker grill? Is that light sensor?

Alright guys. Here's the deal. This is my fourth warranty replacement for a faulty flexing screen. So, I'd like you guys to do a little test for me and see if it really IS the phone that's broken, or if that happens on all phones.
Please, if you could, do some medium-hard pressing in the middle of the screen (Not too hard, as you'll break it), and around the middle of the screen. Also, if you could, try the edges and see how easy it is to cause rippling along the edges (Mine takes fairly light pressure to get rippling). I'm noticing that there are BIG ripples in the center of the screen with some medium pressure. Is this normal? if this shouldn't be happening, I'm gonna freak out on AT&T.
Thanks guys!
Nothing on mine no matter how hard I press

I have the same problem as well I have a defender otterbox case, and when I press on the right side moderately easy it flexes, I see 1 line against white background I am the middle of the screen. The if I press a tad bit harder on the right side I get 2 ripple lines. I do not get it when I press in the middle or on the left side. Screen flex is an issue with the one x. Do some searching and you will see.. I might send mine in to square trade as mine is not going away..anyone think I will get refunded by square trade for screen flex flaw.?
Can't reproduce this through normal usage on mine, nor see a reason where this would be an issue for me.

It's the case.reviewers have mentioned that the otterbox cases might be pushing too hard on the screen as it proturdes out...
Better off with tpu cases like.. cruzaline?
There are non branded ones for like 2 bucks on eBay. Protects camera and screen well enough.
Used that on my desire HD for almost 2 years. Not one visible scratch...
Have dropped my one x like 6 times now, and I dolt have to worry much. The phone is protected in all areas. Unless I drop it on really unbalanced grouns flat on it's screen.
But then again, the one x screen can also work as a hammer, if youve ever seen that vid.

Are you referring to display distortion? If so, i have not had that. If you are talking about how firm the screen is glued to the shell, then I do have a mild defect on the form and fit but I haven't deemed it for replacement yet.
I've peaked around eBay and I found a few different digitalizer plus LCD replacements. What's the difference between g23 and 710d? I can seem to find either of those numbers on my phone box. Also how hard is it to replace the entire screen?
I have some experience with this. Either replace the digitizer/lcd assembly or sell the phone and get a new one. It's possible to replace just one, but it will always look like **** when you're done, and it's not just a matter of ungluing the two layers.
If you are willing to buy a new assembly, is actually a lot easier than I thought it would be. Make sure you work in a clean area. Also, be sure to get the att screen. The international one does look cooler with its HTC logo, but it's not a perfect fit. What that means is a lot of light bleed on the edges and capacitive buttons not lighting up at all.
Best of luck either way!
Viper Rom, baby!
I've replaced mine 3 times so far. The first time you replace it , it WILL be a major pain more than likely. I recommend you find a GOOD video on YouTube or something and follow it closely. (Careful there are a lot of videos that are just atrocious..). Also as stated, get the full assembly for LCD+digitizer and to be safe, get the one with at&t logo. I have heard that the international one works but the fit might not be perfect. Anyway, good luck.

Unfortunately, that's just the digitizer :/ We need the digitizer + LCD.
I can't find a reliable source of the entire assembly. Debating getting both of these and putting it together myself:

Have you installed the screen yet? I'm doubtful that it will fit in the AT&T/Telstra model.

Any updates here? If you've installed it, how's the fit, do the capacitive buttons work, and is the contrast/sharpness correct?

OK so the first phone I got wouldn't work with any screen. Problem cause it wouldn't. Turn on from the beginning. The second phone came. I plugged in LCD with green cable said at&t at top from source above and it wouldn't turn on so I plugged in another one from the source above it had a yellow cable said htc and the Sony one that ssid I had also turned on. The HTC ones seem to be slightly smaller but after I put the sticky tape I think it will all be OK. I just have to do it rite. Also, both screens from supplier above look remanufactured cause they both have black tape and the digitize seem to me to be thinner / glass not so thick. But they come with good black paint and light redirect things for soft buttons. So in short. Buying from him is unpredictable. As I got to different. Screen types. I have only bought two from him. I will post a picture after I assemble the phone today
So I got some good news for my Att version. I ordered this one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-Full-LC...low-Green-Flex-For-HTC-One-X-XL-/360612529957
1. its not a sony, its a sharp. Its yellow on one side and full green on the other.
2. mine came with a sony screen. I killed my old screen getting it off (just lights up white). I booted my phone with the old sony screen, waited till the phone went to sleep, then swapped the screens. The sharp screen fired up just fine.
3. This was a perfect fit with the HTC logo. the ambient light sensor lined up, and it has light guides that line up. Also there was not the 2mm gap with the international versions.
4. One problem. The "holes" in the touch panel where the misaligned light guides/buttons are still there. So you will see the leds on the botton assembly when they light up. I recommend painting the blank spots over with a few layers of black paint.
I think what is happening is the international version has the buttons directly over top the led bar and does not use light guides.
Hey guys,
I have a problem. My brother's phone doesn't look good. ):
As you can see from the photos the screen looks washed out and the sides and corners are dark. This happened yesterday. The phone was on and charging during the night, and when he woke up the screen was like this.
As you can see on the top of the screen there is also a black spot. This was smaller yesterday, but appears to have grown; the screen appears to be deteriorating. Just in case, the phone was also put in recovery mode but nothing changed; it is clearly a hardware issue.
Some details: On Saturday, the day before the problem, he was out at the beach. The phone was in a bag on the beach in the sun. The bag's bottom was wet, but the phone was nowhere near the bottom. Anyway, the phone's screen was fine at that point.
Has anyone experienced this before? Can anyone help? Thanks!

I don't know if that would make a difference, my display is on all night every night on the charger and I have no ill effects to the screen. But, if he had a faulty screen to begin with, that could cause some issues I'd imagine. And with all the issues popping up about the N5, I wouldn't rule out a defective screen from the manufacturer.

Yea, the charging all night shouldn't really have any effects on the screen..
I wouldn't rule that it being a defect, no; after some research I found some people complaining about yellowish tint to their Nexus 5 screens but from the images it does not look as bad as this, so we are still wondering what it is.
The Nexus will spend the night in a bag of rice just in case there is water inside. :good:
It can still be water (steam) damage. You said that phone was in a wet bag so it is possible that under some heat there was some steam/moisture that could damage the phone. But still I hope it is not that, because warranty would be voided...
Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
Problem solved guys.
Tenhi seems to have been right. Moisture.
My brother assumed it was that so he put his phone in a bag of rice for a few hours and it got slightly better. But since he bought the phone from ebay and it has no warranty, he followed this guide to open the screen and wipe all the plastic (or whatever) layers behind the screen (the reflector, diffuser, and lenses or whatever, see the video). Then he left only the screen part in the rice bag for hours and now the phone is as good as new (almost).
It still has kind of a violet tint in the middle of the screen, if you look at the phone from the side but from the front it isn't evident at all. The screen also had green edges that disappeared.
For anyone wanting to attempt this procedure I would suggest only doing it if you have no warranty and if you have some experience in opening up a phone and/or feel confident about it. Also simply putting the screen part of the phone in rice would probably suffice, there probably is no need to take out and wipe all the 'plastic' layers behind the screen, I am thinking.
Anyway, you can see the photos of the phone attached.
It's great to see it "fixed". I managed to ruin my old phone in a similar way. It was in my pocket during one wet hiking day. I had my waterproof jacket, but moisture going out from my body ruined the phone totally.

That's too bad. /: It didn't even turn on?
Also, now that a few days have gone past the phone is back to normal! There is no longer any violet shade or any washed out colours!
Wow...guess I better watch how much I'm sweating while I carry my phone in my pocket lol
I have the same problem!
I got the same problem when I put my Nexus 5 on charging the whole night and When I woke up I found my screen with washed out effect and corners of the screen were alright just the middle portion of the screen was having purple tint appeared when screen is black out but on!
After having this problem I charge my phone via USB and put my screen on highest brightness, I found the effect is lowering after two days.
Do you find any solution for that?
