[Q] Sony Ericsson Arc S vs HTC Evo 3D - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys,
I've had an HTC G1 for nearly 3 years and I'm thinking its time to get an upgrade, I've narrowed it down to these 2 phones, an Xperia arc S or Evo 3D.
Slightly more inclined to get the Evo for the better hardware but i don't tend to take photos or film a lot and I've heard the battery life is really bad. I'm worried if i get the arc s, it'll be outdated a lot faster due to the single core and only having 512mb ram, but it is ~60$ cheaper.
I'd like to be able to run ICS smoothly and possibly Jelly bean when released
Opinions?

[Q] [POLL] Desire HD, Galaxy S, standard Desire or wait?

should i got for the desire HD with its poor battery life but blazing performance,
the galaxy S that feels like a toy and hope froyo (not in UK yet) fixes its problems,
or buy a desire with its (now) outdated processor but large and probably long lasting community support?
or should i just wait until something the size of the desire comes out with the processor from the desire HD?
only 1 vote and no replies? i feel unloved
It might just be me, but I don't trust Samsung with phones. As opposed to HTC, their phones feel like toys, and although they're sometimes more powerful, they're not supported for very long. Basically, it's bleeding edge (at least hardware-wise) vs quality. And by quality I mean not only build quality but also how long the device is supported for by the manufacturer and what you can do with it afterwards.
HTC phones are usually top-quality devices, the first to get rooted, have the best third-party interface (Sense) which btw can be removed. The Galaxy S phones are powerful, but Touchwiz adds no functionality when compared to Sense (which adds a LOT) and Samsung doesn't have a good track record of updating their phones often. Look at the Behold II. Look at the current US Galaxy S phones. It's the reason I chose an HTC Evo over a Samsung Epic (Galaxy S with a keyboard, dual cameras, and WiMax). On top of that the Galaxy S phones haven't even gotten 2.2 yet here in US and have a number of hardware issues, one being the GPS.
By no means am I saying the Galaxy S phones are bad, it's just that you'd get more out of an HTC device. My mother and sisters own the Samsung Intercept, which is supposed to be the successor to the Moment. It's in fact a downgrade in every way except the keyboard. But I'm not going to go into that. I say wait till Christmas or get a Desire HD.
Well right now I'll choose the Galaxy S phone because it's the best android phone right now but wait because in this times (November, December, January) alot of phones arrive and maybe a better one comes
As I hate the low resolution of AMOLED screens...
Desire HD
Desire
Galaxy S

New Android Girl nexus s and arc

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to android and would love if someone could help me. Coming from iPhone 4 I wana get android phone cause Rogers is releasing nexus s and xperia arc on 28th I wana get one but not sure which is better. Please help me everyone as I have only week to decide.
Thanks
Buy Arc Or w8 For Samsung Galaxy S2 ( similar to iphone 4 in looks )
might be forever for sgs2
just looking at the specs the Xperia Arc has the advantage in many areas:
8.1MP vs 5MP camera
microSD slot that can accept a 32GB card vs 16GB fixed internal in Nexus
4.2" vs 4.0" screen
FM radio
micro hdmi
MobileSyrup is reporting the Samsung Galaxy S II to be released late Q2/Early Q3. With a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and 1GB of RAM, I think it'll be worth the wait.
If not, I think the Samsung Nexus S would be a better choice than the Arc.
Sgs2 released in india. Getting in day or two
In Uk 1st May Onwards.
its not Forever
So not arc? I need one rightaway or nexus s.

If you want something right away, then take the Arc. It's a better phone than the Nexus S.

Agreed.
I used a Nexus S for a couple of weeks prior to getting my Arc and there's simply no contest IMO.
Of course there's the obvious points like the superior camera, the flexibility of having a memory card as opposed to only in-built memory, extra features like HDMI-out and the significantly better looks
But there's also things like the fact that the Arc is smoother, so much more polished and the screen is actually really good - for day-to-day usage, I'd go so far as to say that it's a match for the sAMOLED panel the Nexus S uses.
Hi i would recommend you to go for sony ericsson xperia arc because i have research lot for this phone and i got awesome reviews so go for arc. Thanks.

Except, you know, for the screen you're looking at all day (SAMOLED >>> any LCD), and the constant Google software updates. And the faster Hummingbird in the Nexus.

[Q] Help me pick out my new phone

I am currently with Sprint using an HTC Evo 4G. I like it but I do not like the service of sprint nor the slow speeds. I am going to move to ATT with my younger brother and looking at sme phones, but I am at a loss at what to pick. I have narrowed it down to 4 phones.
Samsung Infuse- I like this phone because of the Super Amoled screen the size ofteh screen and the lightweight feel of it.
HTC Inspire- I love HTC's sense UI. Even after using MC7 on my evo I went back to a sense style ROM.
Motorola Atrix- Dock aside I have a friend who has this phone and he loves how fast it is with its dual cores.
LG Thrill- THe only other dual core phone on my list but it is 3D and I am not sold on the idea of 3D just yet. Plus every LG phoen I have had has been bad.
I really only am looking at 2 phones the infuse and the inspire. As I said I realyl like HTC's Sense, and not a big fan of TouchWIz. If it was able to do so I would root the infuse and flash a sense style rom on it but I can not find a sense rom for the infuse. I am really stumped so came here to see if I could get some assistance in picking out my new phone.
If you liked the evo (I love sense) the inspire is pretty much the same phone with the exception of the inspire having more memory.
But personally i wouldnt mind ditching sense for power and going with the atrix. dual core with 16gb of internal memory/ 1gb ram.
ULP GeForce GPU <--- that would be my deciding factor
1930 mAh battery compared to the 1230 mAh for the inspire.
And its motorola.
Hope that helps

[Q] Galaxy S or Xperia Arc

Can someone please help me make the decision.
I'm buying my new phone in two weeks ..
And I'm confused between these two
Samsung Galaxy S
Or
Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc
Taking into account the popularity of the Galaxy S and the wide-range support.
And the coolness .. the awesome camera of the Xperia Arc.
P.S. i don't know why so many people are comparing the Xperia Arc to the
Galaxy S II despite the fact that the S II has a dual-core processor, while the Xperia has a single core. They should compare the S but not S II
I'd really appreciate your answer so that i can make up my mind
Arc is more stylish to me.
Also, if you buy SIM-unlocked one, it's not a problem to unlock bootloader.
But it hasn't got so many custom ROMs as Galaxy S does.
Most Arcs can be overclocked up to 1.7GHz stable (max is 2.0GHz), even up to 2.0GHz if you apply some more overvolting.
And it has nice Super LCD screen which is great.
But, let's also tell something about Galaxy S: so much custom ROMs, big community, S-AMOLED screen, weighting almost the same as a bunch of 10 A4 papers.
galaxy s
Arc. Bigger screen, better camera. I even like the screen better: works well in sunlight.
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
I Would go for ARC as well. Very nicely build phone.
And what about the screen .. Super AMOLED vs. LCD Sony Bravia Reality Display
It's said that the S-AMOLED is the best in the business these days .. However, alot of people claim the Xperia's LCD is awesome too
And i don't know about the touch sensitivity comparing to the Galaxy S

Possible new phone advice

I have been using this phone for 3 years now and think it is time to move on. I have been given a good deal on a moto g 4g and wondered if anyone can think of a reason not to move. It's a similar spec phone with quad core instead of dual. Has a smaller camera tho.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have the One (M7) for a year now and I have to say for a 2 year old phone, it really holds it's build quality. The speakers are amazing, the screen is crystal clear and it has Lollipop + Sense 6. We won't get Sense 7 officially but I'm 100% sure we will get a very functional port of Sense 7. The only downside is the camera. If your not too concerned about that then I think you should go for it. If not, I would suggest the Moto G (2014) or the Sony Xperia Z1/Z3 Compact, you can't go wrong with any of them
If you really liked you One S, you can go to something similar like the M8, or if you can wait for a couple of days, get your hands on the new HTC One M9.
One good reason to wait: wait for a real new ARM64 phone. The Moto G 4G (2014) is still a SnapDragon 400 with Krait cores I believe, so nothing really new from our One S.
I would wait for a cheap Motorola with ARM64 cores for less than 200$.

We already have a thread talk about this.
Moto G 4G is real a very bad choice, only a 4.5" 720P, S400, 1G ram, 8GB rom(though with microSD slot). Nothing real better and camera is a downgrade to 5MP.
I'm still using One S as a spare phone and upgraded to Sony Z1 Compact since last year. If budget is a major concern, you should get Z1c because it is cheap now should only a bit expensive than Moto G 4G but with a hardware much much better(4.3" 720P, S800, 2G ram, 16GB, microSD, LTE, 20MP camera, IPX67, 2300mah). Lollipop got delayed but will arrive on this phone probably around May/June.
But since now I've two small phones, I think it's too many. I'm going to sell out Z1c and upgrade again in April/May sometimes and give Galaxy S6 a try because the phone is quite small and slim this time to the 5.1" size.
If you have more money then get Sony Z3 Compact with bigger screen(4.6" but still same size with Z1c and One S), battery life and camera is even more better. If you can wait for like half year, Z4c will probably out on Sep.
I have used one S for 3 years too.
It's my first android phone, and I have a good time with it.
A lot of great developers have worked on this phone, they become a story!
I think Oneplus ONE is a great phone.
HTC M9 is great too!
3 years here also
i want to move to the new phone too. thinkng about new nexus or wait for the new LG
I'm going to buy a new phone in my summer vacation......Probably OnePlus
