New Android Girl nexus s and arc - General Questions and Answers

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to android and would love if someone could help me. Coming from iPhone 4 I wana get android phone cause Rogers is releasing nexus s and xperia arc on 28th I wana get one but not sure which is better. Please help me everyone as I have only week to decide.
Thanks

Buy Arc Or w8 For Samsung Galaxy S2 ( similar to iphone 4 in looks )

might be forever for sgs2

just looking at the specs the Xperia Arc has the advantage in many areas:
8.1MP vs 5MP camera
microSD slot that can accept a 32GB card vs 16GB fixed internal in Nexus
4.2" vs 4.0" screen
FM radio
micro hdmi

MobileSyrup is reporting the Samsung Galaxy S II to be released late Q2/Early Q3. With a dual core 1.2 GHz processor, 4.3-inch Super AMOLED display and 1GB of RAM, I think it'll be worth the wait.
If not, I think the Samsung Nexus S would be a better choice than the Arc.

Sgs2 released in india. Getting in day or two
In Uk 1st May Onwards.
its not Forever

So not arc? I need one rightaway or nexus s.

If you want something right away, then take the Arc. It's a better phone than the Nexus S.

Agreed.
I used a Nexus S for a couple of weeks prior to getting my Arc and there's simply no contest IMO.
Of course there's the obvious points like the superior camera, the flexibility of having a memory card as opposed to only in-built memory, extra features like HDMI-out and the significantly better looks
But there's also things like the fact that the Arc is smoother, so much more polished and the screen is actually really good - for day-to-day usage, I'd go so far as to say that it's a match for the sAMOLED panel the Nexus S uses.

Hi i would recommend you to go for sony ericsson xperia arc because i have research lot for this phone and i got awesome reviews so go for arc. Thanks.

Except, you know, for the screen you're looking at all day (SAMOLED >>> any LCD), and the constant Google software updates. And the faster Hummingbird in the Nexus.

[Q] Nexus S vs. Xperia Arc

Hello everyone, I'm going to upgrade from my Galaxy 5 to some other Android device, and I have 1.000 R$ ( 570 US dollars ) to spend on a new smartphone. Here on Brazil with that money you can buy a Nexus S, a Xperia Arc or a Motorola Atrix. So I don't know which one to choose. The Xperia Arc is gorgeous, thin, has a great camera and a bigger display, the Nexus S will be receiving most of the updates right after their release, has a front facing camera and a Super Amoled screen, while the Atrix is.. well.. meh. So, which of those do you recommend for me to choose as my smartphone for the next 2 years? Also, I watch A LOT of TV shows on my smartphone, i'm a pretty hardcore gamer and I listen to music constantly on my Galaxy 5, so the phone must have nice media capabilities.
Thanks!
man , you are asking in Nexus S section, so , sure , your answer would be Nexus S,
if you ask in their section , sure you have answer of their section.
personal idea , i suggest wait for another moth or so , wait for Galaxy Nexus , and then you can sell you Galaxy 5 to get some money , plus your 570 USD , almost there ...
yes sure nexus s is the best try it, sory for my bad eng
If you go for the design, get a Xperia Arc
If you go for a lot more performance, definitely get a Nexus S.
Or just wait and spare some money for the Galaxy Nexus / Nexus Prime.
the Galaxy S2 will share a lot of similarities to the galaxy nexus, and their price has already dropped a lot since launch... perhaps that is one option to consider as well?
My friend has the ark and I have a nexus s, my nexus outperforms the Ark in everything except for the camera, he is a bit annoyed at how slow it is.

[Q] Which Phone to buy ?

I have used my not so powerful but beloved x8 for some time now,, its time to get a high end smartphone , but i am pretty confused on which one to buy?
I am currently considering Samsung galaxy s2, Samsung galaxy Nexus, Htc Sensation XE, Xperia Arc s(if only it had dual core!), Motorola Droid Razr ,, So which one do you guys prefer and why? and are there any other phone that i should consider?
Don't go for the razr.
I would not go for the Razr since the battery is pretty poor and not replaceable, although the Rarz maxx gives you plenty of juice.
I would prefer the GNex since it is the most advanced phone out there. Also it gives you a long period of rom-updates since its an development phone.
My second choice will be the SGS2, here in the Nederlands is has gone true an small price-drop since the GNex is in stores. so this option is more attractive now.

wht i dont understand is that why would you say the razr's battery life is not good, according to almost all the test it came over galaxy nexus, actually galaxy nexus has the least battery life amongst all the phones i mentioned because of its high res screen. but the galaxy nexus's battery can be replaced so i guess that seems to be the best phone soo far
I would take the galaxy nexus too because you get all updates at first
Or you wait for the sony xperia s it will have a 1.5 ghz dual core processor it will come in march
phone
mytouch 4g
I would choose GS2 over Nexus. I am myself a GS2 user and played with galaxy nexus for some time. The very big difference between these two at first is the weight and user interface. Although it's possible to port ICS to galaxy S2 and yet it's very unstable compared to nexus. But on longer term, why GS2 over Nexus? I am an accessories lover and I like to have a cool unique looking phone. In my experience there still aren't a lot of cool accessories available for Nexus S. It's a new phone and the question is will there good looking accessories in the future. In my opinion, no there won't be. Like the previous model Nexus, the hype stays with the latest software, but no hype in expanding the use of it's phone in way of dressing the phone.
Little summary: GS2--> a lot of cases and accessories available. Gnex---> ICS
But hey, who knows maybe samsung comes with GS3 soon!!(expected in May)

The amaze is downright heavy bro
As a happy G2 owner i would say go for it. But the Nexus is pretty nice too. I was in love with the Razr until I saw it in store.
I would go with the SGS2 great phone with a huge dev community so lots of roms and lots of support. It's gonna be my next phone, unless htc really does come out with this quad core phone they keep leaking info on.
Try the Samsung Galaxy Note. Its the best of both worlds which is a smartphone and a tablet combine into 2. The 5.3 inch screen makes reading easier. Dual core at 1.4 GHz and can be easily rooted.
Buy SGS2. Great phone, having G9000 before, it was very goo, but has some performance issues. G9100 has solved it,working like charm, have Android 4.0.3 installed.

The RAZR has a 680 mAh battery where the Nexus has a 1850 mah.
Better battery.
It really all depends on how you use it though.
Nexus!
Samsung Nexus has been one of the sexiest phones that I have ever owned. Straight Google support... can't beat that!

thats some major wrong information you got there bro ,, the razr has a Li-Ion 1780 mAh battery and the galaxy s2 has a Li-Ion 1650 mAh battery,, and the nexus has Li-Ion 1750 mAh battery,, according to some global battery tests Galaxy s2 has the best battery life even with 1650 due to its lower pixel density compared to the razr and nexus,, the motorola droid razr comes in second and the nexus has the worst battery life of the lot,,(due to its massive screen and high pixel density), get you facts right bro, before you give information like that, and with 680 mah a dual core smart phone would not last half a day !!
I have a SGSII and I can recommend it. In the end for me it's about the hardware and the screen.
On the downside the battery is not great but it seems that all smartphones suffer from this.

The raze has almost the same specs and a higher pixel density super amoled screen, so would that be a better choice than the gs2?
I recommend the Galaxy Nexus. I mean what could be better than enjoying the pure Google experience? The GNexus has an awesome display and has the newest rom available from Android. You will be getting updates on this phone for a long time, and it will be up to par with other phones even when out of the 2 year contract. The Galaxy Nexus is the way to go.

Galaxy s3

Anyone got any pictures or official specs
I think that nothing official has been released yet but I'm looking forward to this phone, got the SGS 1 myself
As previously stated I much doubt anything official is released; merely speculations. Bet there are countless blogs speculating, "leaking" or such where you can get your information.
I just hope they don't go over in screen size. 4.3 is perfect to me with a 720p resolution. After seeing a Gnex it looks crisp as hell probably the first screen that I've seen that looks better than an iPhone screen.
Nothing is official.....
Waiting for samsung's official poster!

720p resolution on a 4.3" screen would make everything ridiculously small. If the SGS III goes that route, I'll stick with my Galaxy S II.

Nice
Nice WOrk..................
yeah yeas i wait soon
cant wait for this phone i still got my sg1 and i love it and dont wanna upgrade to a sg2
One thing is sure..
The Galaxy SIII must match or exceed Sony Xperia S:
4.3-inch HD display
12 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor
1.5 GHz dual-core processor
DLNA connectivity for content sharing
32 GB internal storage
PlayStation Certified
Probably the 1st Android phone
with 12 megapixel camera.
Search Google, 1st result:
Xperia S from Sony: Let Us Put You In The Picture
ff
and about screen? it become silicone?-
The galaxy s3 will probably come with a quadcore, if they want to beat the HTC endaevor... Maybe there will be a Galaxy S2 + /v.2
Nothing yet confirmed by Samsung.
Rumors say that it will have 4.6inch HD screen - Super AMOLED plus
12 megapixel camera
Dual or quad core processor
Could be released in similar or the same case as Galaxy S2 but buttons could be replaced with buttons on the screen just like Galaxy Nexus has.

if it has all those features it will be the best phone of 2012 by far. Can't wait!
I hope it's 4.3, becouase the Gneuxs is a bit too big for me one handed. (I like one handing phones ok)
will come soon
the galaxy s3 will come soon, just wait. hope it can bring us more surprise. hehe
Although nothing is known official
NICE ....................^_^
In Engadget people are presuming that the new model has surfaced somewhere surfing a web server, but it told that it would be a little lower resolution than Galaxy Nexus (<1280x720)
That's okay, it also gives me hope that it would be smaller than Galaxy Nexus which is slightly too massive. Presumed 1024x700 in a 4,3" screen would be very well balanced, I'd say and the body as small as possible..
I think it will be waterproof (ZAGG), 2GB ram and quad-core.

Nexus 7 vs Sony Xperia Tablet S

Hey guys,
Recently, I've been wondering whether or not I should sell my Nexus 7 to get the Sony Xperia Tablet S, which just got released at the end of August. I've tried it at the store, it made of aluminium, bigger screen, 8MP back camera with Exmor R, Playstation certified, IR Blaster, better design, 6000 MAH battery and SX-Master Audio, ICS 4.0 but not lag at all. The big plus it has over the Nexus 7 is that it has full size SD card slot support, HDMI out, water-splash proof, etc..
I've been using my Nexus 7 for about 1 month now, im quite satisfied with it. But I would like to consider a bigger screen to have better experience at web browsing, movies, gaming, etc.
Is there anyone that own a sony tablet s before ? What do you guys think ? Should I go for it or not ?
Cheer,
Here is a thread to better provide in your question.

Possible new phone advice

I have been using this phone for 3 years now and think it is time to move on. I have been given a good deal on a moto g 4g and wondered if anyone can think of a reason not to move. It's a similar spec phone with quad core instead of dual. Has a smaller camera tho.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Cheers

I have the One (M7) for a year now and I have to say for a 2 year old phone, it really holds it's build quality. The speakers are amazing, the screen is crystal clear and it has Lollipop + Sense 6. We won't get Sense 7 officially but I'm 100% sure we will get a very functional port of Sense 7. The only downside is the camera. If your not too concerned about that then I think you should go for it. If not, I would suggest the Moto G (2014) or the Sony Xperia Z1/Z3 Compact, you can't go wrong with any of them
If you really liked you One S, you can go to something similar like the M8, or if you can wait for a couple of days, get your hands on the new HTC One M9.
One good reason to wait: wait for a real new ARM64 phone. The Moto G 4G (2014) is still a SnapDragon 400 with Krait cores I believe, so nothing really new from our One S.
I would wait for a cheap Motorola with ARM64 cores for less than 200$.

We already have a thread talk about this.
Moto G 4G is real a very bad choice, only a 4.5" 720P, S400, 1G ram, 8GB rom(though with microSD slot). Nothing real better and camera is a downgrade to 5MP.
I'm still using One S as a spare phone and upgraded to Sony Z1 Compact since last year. If budget is a major concern, you should get Z1c because it is cheap now should only a bit expensive than Moto G 4G but with a hardware much much better(4.3" 720P, S800, 2G ram, 16GB, microSD, LTE, 20MP camera, IPX67, 2300mah). Lollipop got delayed but will arrive on this phone probably around May/June.
But since now I've two small phones, I think it's too many. I'm going to sell out Z1c and upgrade again in April/May sometimes and give Galaxy S6 a try because the phone is quite small and slim this time to the 5.1" size.
If you have more money then get Sony Z3 Compact with bigger screen(4.6" but still same size with Z1c and One S), battery life and camera is even more better. If you can wait for like half year, Z4c will probably out on Sep.
I have used one S for 3 years too.
It's my first android phone, and I have a good time with it.
A lot of great developers have worked on this phone, they become a story!
I think Oneplus ONE is a great phone.
HTC M9 is great too!
3 years here also
i want to move to the new phone too. thinkng about new nexus or wait for the new LG
I'm going to buy a new phone in my summer vacation......Probably OnePlus
